Diner Reviews
  • "For such a prime location (Theatre District) the food is only mediocre."

  • "The pizza was delicious we tried a few different kinds and all was truly an experience in eating. Love it."

  • "Corrientes has been, and will always be our chosen restaurant before the theater for its delicious meals and very friendly and efficient staff, we have always been extremely satisfied with our dining experience."

  • "Overall experience was wonderful! Wine fabulous! Service awesome! Ambience outstanding...thank you for the experience."

  • "At our table, there were 5 different types of pizza. All were bland and lacking spices. The pizzas were unforgettable. However, the salads were amazingly flavourful."

  • "So glad my cousin recommended this! Loved it as soon as I walked in-ambience, warm, cozy. We enjoyed the music-both generations of us! Our server was so sweet without drooling over my guys! It was not too noisy, not too dead. The food was phenomenal! Both the empanadas and the pizza were spiced delightfully! thanks so much! Been busy recommending!!"

  • "Before the theatre. Great service, great atmosphere. Fresh & delicious food, perfect sized portions. Will be back."

  • "Loved the over all feel to the place. The only detraction would be the bread. Though baked in house, it is way to dense to use for sandwiches such as the Cuban melts. Pizza options great == nice to be able to mix half and half. Dessert, chocolate hazelnut, perfect for sharing."

  • "The food - delicious, the service - amazing, the atmosphere - cozy and charming. It's a pleasure to go to Corrientes, I can find no faults. The coffee is consistently one of the best I've had. The pizza has unique toppings and the wine list is huge!"

  • "Great atmosphere and great pizza. Service was a little spotty because they were so busy. Very friendly but we didn't get everything we ordered. Overall still a very good experience."

  • "The casual, relaxed attitude at Corrientes was exactly what I wanted for my friend date; a chatty catchup dinner with a girlfriend. Friendly, perfectly efficient service, in a setting with character, and great Argentinian music. I decided to try the Carne empanada and Crudo pizza, and my girlfriend was excited to choose the veggie Cuban melt associated with fond memories of a distant holiday. I was not impressed with the empanada - it was dry and would have benefitted from a dipping sauce. The Crudo pizza was perfection - a refined pizza experience. We were both very pleased by our selection of the copper and lager beers on tap."

  • "The Cuban Melt veggie sanwhich was very tatsy and very healthy. The garden salad was a good combination but a little too much dressing sitting on top for me. Next time I'd order it on the side. The appitizer plate was very good and just the right amoun for 2 people. We got ther at 6:45 PM and said we needed to be out to be at the theater for eight and we were. The service was prompt and friendly. Thank you"

  • "I love this place although last time after the theatre, we were not as impressed as we had been other times, which was reflected in another review I submitted. My most recent visit redeemed itself! The food was hot and delicious and the server was delightful. The ambience is great although it was a little chilly sitting near the wall. I will certainly be back!"

  • "Close to theatre, museum, the downtown scene and the forks! And good food."

  • "Simple fair at a reasonable price. Good food and good service. Noise level on a Saturday night was very high. Hard to have a conversation without yelling."

  • "Good food, good service, good atmosphere just a bit on the noisy side."

  • "I give this review the name magnet, because whenever we attentd a play or concert, Corrientes never fails to draw our appetites toward our favorite restaurant for a wonderfuly dinner."

  • "My wife and I made our second visit to Corientes after a lunch outside on a nice summer Saturday. We let the waitress know that we were off to the hockey game following dinner and she did very well at making sure we had time to spare. We both ordered pizza and flan. The thin crust was just delicious and the toppings were fresh and tasty. The flan was a nice end to the meal, light and flavorful. Our wine selection was very nice and it looked like the list would be well worth exploring. All in all, a great dining experience. B"

  • "Yes indeed, fine empanadas too, classic and contemporary/experimental pizzas. Fine crust. Interesting but pricey list of wines by the glass, very strong wine list, wide variety of spirits. The quality of the ingredients shine through. Interesting side dishes as well, salads, charcuterie, and this time as a feature soup, a wonderful scallop bisque. When things get hopping it can get quite noisy, and the staff can be much too attentive at times---my conversation was interrupted at least twice during every course (the evening divided up into 4 "smalls") with "And how are things tasting", and "Can I get you any more wine or beer?" I suppose, better than inattentive, but it got to be quite annoying as the evening progressed."

  • "We have been to Corrientes at least four times prior to our recent visit this past Saturday and absolutely loved it. The ambience is great! However, we felt the service and food not up to what we had experienced in the past. We had very clearly requested one of the featured pizzas without banana peppers as my husband has a rather touchy stomach and it came with plenty of them! We should have refused the pizza but since we were taking a friend out for her birthday, and had to be somewhere else after dinner, we didn't want to make too big a fuss about it. Perhaps it was the choice of pizza, but again not nearly as good as what we have had in the past."

  • "Interesting and innovative pizzas. The desserts called our name."
    Dined on 1/24/2014
  • "The delicious thin gluten free pizza crust was done perfectly crisp. With dairy sensitivities wanted to try the buffalo mozzarella and enjoyed it with no reaction. Interesting selection of pizza and it's great they offer a half and half topping so able to try two options. The food was great! The place was empty at first and service was a little lax at the beginning until a second person came on staff. The second person made it an overall good experience."

  • "Pizza is just one of those comfort foods that makes for a great shared meal out, and Corrientes has a wonderful twist on this traditional standard. The Chivita is one of our favourites and it is just outstanding. And the Argentinian flavour appetizers are a really nice change and good for sharing. Beer was great too. This restaurant is a must try if you are downtown for a show, and worth the trip even if it's your only destination."

  • "Pizza was alright. Nothing too terribly special. Empanadas were good. Expensive for the amount of food we got."

  • "The entire experience was exceptional. Our servers were all great. We had an 8 o clock reservation but we were all ready to go by 7 and the hostess seated us in the back lounge/coffee area. They served us drinks and made special effort to make us comfortable. We stayed till past closing and the servers did an exceptional Job of making us feel comfortable and taken care of! Thanks! Environments is A++ and the food very good!"

  • "Corrientes blends the classic / staple Argentinean foods (empanadas and pizza are big down there, after of course meat) with modern flavours and combinations. The humita pizza is excellent and their thick crust is sweet and doughy, I would say half as thick as in Argentina but every bite was delicious. Desert was good, we had the homemade flan, but overpriced at 9 dollars. We will be back."

  • "This place has a nice vibe with lovely service. The bacon on the two pizzas we ordered was burned. The salad was pathetic- tasteless. The first glass of wine we ordered had gone over. We can pick up on wine that has been opened the day before and left on a counter. The bones of the restaurant are good, but the divider that separates the lounge from the dining area is an eyesore. Tacky and cheap looking. The back room library space looks like it belongs in a 60s hippy cafe."

  • "Great restaurant to go to before a Jets game....service was great and food was very good. Only drawback is that the lighting at some tables is unfortunately inadequate for the evening reading of the menus....maybe management could have flashlights on hand to help us read the menu."

  • "Exceptional pizza with unusual ingredients. Great experience. Everyone in our party gave it a "thumbs up"."

  • "Corrientes is a great spot for a pizza night. Wonderful pizza, fun atmosphere, great wine selection. Cozy indoors in the winter but be sure to try out their patio next summer .... very fun spot to be."

  • "Here is my Facebook status update regarding our evening at Coorientes...Checked out Corrientes pizzeria tonight and got to catch up with an old friend. Delicious pizza with uncommon toppings and friendly service. A worthy outing :-) We chose a red wine from Uruguay but I won't say why"

  • "We were seated against outside brick wall where there was a frigid draft coming at our backs. No other table available and server not that concerned. We had the Picada for an appetizer, not worth the $16.00. The noise level was very high and room so dark it was hard to read menu. We had a pizza that had great crust but skimpy topping and all the cheese was at the middle of the pizza. Coffe was good."

  • "We came to celebrate a birthday, and brought our two children (ages 5 and 8). The staff ensured we had our requested table, near the back! From the initial greeting to the end, everything was perfect. The server was beyond friendly, helpful and accomodating. (Sat, Nov 30 at 6 pm...Lastra). She ensured we had everything we needed. I ordered empanadas to start, and they were amazing! The server brought some bread for my son...who is going through a 'picky phase' and chose not to eat! It was lovely of her! The pizza's were to die for! Everytime we eat there, they are consistently amazing! The wine choices were great also. We had a lovely time, no complaints. And the price point is perfect. Thanks, and keep up the fantastic work!"

  • "Located right in the exchange, this is the perfect place for a meal before taking in a play at the Royal Manitoba Theatre Centre or one of the other nearby venues: Pantages Playhouse, Centennial Concert Hall, MTC Warehouse. We've been here twice and have had a great time both times: the first was in the summer and we sat outdoors on the sidewalk on a perfect evening in July; the second was with friends just before taking in the play. Primarily empanadas and pizza - the options are unique and all very tasty!"

  • "Had a few empanadas. Chicken were terrific; beef really very good, too. Salad (and particularly the dressing) was absolutely wonderful (it's hard to get that excited about a salad - but this one was noteworthy). One of our party had a cuban melt and really liked it. The only minor flaw: the asparagus in it was a tad stringy. Other than that, it was really delish. Service attentive and friendly. Online reservation system worked a charm. All in all, a great evening out for dinner and a really lovely bistro. Next time we'll try the pizzas as they looked amazing."

  • "we really enjoyed the food and the whole experience there. we had tickets to MTC so it was extremely convenient. none of us had ever heard of Corrientes before but we saw it in the MTC brochure. It's fun to try new places and this one definitely paid off. we will come again."
