It was an ok place for brunch, but the service isn't very good and the menu is not up to date. The meal I ate was good.

  • We'd heard very good things but...

We were there on a chilly, slow Saturday night. We were seated by the outdoor patio when tables were available further into the restaurant. Our server was inattentive, and asked only the "required" questions and often didn't wait for us to answer. All that wouldn't have mattered if the food was good. My pizza was under-cooked and my niece's order was wrong. We wished we had chosen another restaurant for my last weekend in San Diego.

We went to watch a basketball game during March Madness and it was perfect. Lots of TV's, not overly crowded. The only suggestion is that the pitchers of beer are too expensive!

Although we arrived before the lunch rush hit, our waitress acted as if we were an inconvenience. It's more of a sports bar than a restaurant.

Sports bars are aways about how many TVs and how many taps they have. Firehouse does well with those. The food is tasty and fits well with ambiance. What we really enjoyed was the service. Polite, engaging, funny and professional are not usually things you say about service at a sports bar; however, the firehouse is the exception to the rule. I'm looking forward to going back again to enjoy sports with good food, a variety of beers to choose from and great service...perfect neighborhood place.

  • Other than a bad experience

Other than a bad experience with a "bored and irritated" waitress, brunch was awesome. The hostess and servers were very friendly and more than made up for the poor service we received from the waitress. Unfortunately, we were treated like her least favorite table. The ambience and atmosphere aside from her, more than made up for it. We will be returning, but will request a different waitress, should she still be there.
