Corners TavernThe food here is wonderful,The food here is wonderful, we keep coming back. The chef goes the extra mile, clearly, brining and smoking meats to perfection.
The restaurant is noisy, but quieter if you can be near the outside. The burger and fries were outstanding, probably the best I have ever had anywhere. The smoked chicken was amazing, tender and juicy with incredible flavor.6/11/2013 12:00:00 AMMost of the food was wellMost of the food was well prepared. The ceviche was delicious, highly recommend. The fried pan shrimp was a bitty salty.6/11/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat Experience! It was our first visit and the experience was first class...from Joe, our waiter, to the food and atmosphere, we will definitely return soon. The halibut was superb and we really enjoyed the ambiance with the garage doors up...fantastic!6/5/2013 12:00:00 AMSimply the BestThis gem of a restaurant gives you San Francisco quality food and drinks. Imaginative and delicious.6/1/2013 12:00:00 AMCorner Tavern has quicklyCorner Tavern has quickly become on of our favorite dining spots in Walnut Creek. The menus are not extensive but change and always have something different & interestingt. They have a great bar with terrific bartenders and the waitstaff is very professional and prompt. The outdoor patio dining can be very pleasant although it gets a lot of direct sum later in the day. While it is moderately noisy, that has not affected our enjoyment of the experience.
I have only been there for dinner but we will be trying lunch and sunday bunch also I am sure with comparable results.5/29/2013 12:00:00 AMBurger BargainThe special were four differently flavored burgers. All sounded terrific...the two we had were terrific served with great French fries.
They were even a bargain. A casual place with great food and lively bar scene with many draught beers on tap. The Linden was great for those of us who like lager.5/28/2013 12:00:00 AMFunky atmosphere, great foodThe ambiance is a little more downscale than expected (chipped chairs, rustic tables), and we had to ask for silverware and bread, but the food was all excellent. I appreciated that we let them know it was a 91st birthday celebration, and the printed menus all had 'Happy 91st' at the top for us. They also included a gratis dessert for the birthday girl!!5/27/2013 12:00:00 AMNOT just a Tavern4th time here. Food is amazing - upscale and creative - not pub fare. Although place is casual, has a high end feel. Very comfortable indoor/outdoor dining with front completely open to patio. Very attentive service with good knowledge of beers and wines. Noise level was very loud - not a "fine restaurant" dining experience, but for us, it was enjoyable. Would probably hard for a group to hear all parties when talking.5/24/2013 12:00:00 AMAn overall good dining experienceI had been wanting to try this place for quite sometime. It looked fun and inviting the many times I walked past. The place itself is very hip and modern but gives a feeling of comfort as well. We sat at the outdoor tables which was better from a noise level. It can be quite boisterous indoors. The wine/beer list is very good - no complaints here. Our service was very good too - server was very friendly and informative about the menu. Her only challenge was serving tables both indoors/outdoors which slowed her down a bit but not a major problem. The food itself was mediocre, pricey for the caliber of food offered. Nothing we ate was bad, but nothing knocked my socks off either. Go for the ambiance, not the food.5/24/2013 12:00:00 AMI went there for my birthdayI went there for my birthday on May 23rd and made reservations a week in advance. The menus given to my table were custom printed and said Happy Birthday Eric. I really lied that simple touch of personalization.I had some very good beer and wine, blisters snap peas for an appetizer and the rib eye. Everything was delicious. My desert was a chocolate tort and even had a candle on it. I really appreciate that they did not try to sing happy birthday to me (I don't like strangers doing that).
It was a perfect evening.5/22/2013 12:00:00 AMgreat food, great atmosphereThis fairly new Walnut Creek gem is really smartly designed, keeping the bar scene separate from the dining room, and the whole front section opens to the patio. This makes for great air circulation and atmosphere, and helps tamp down the noise often found in large dining rooms...genius. The food was wonderful, much of it vaguely BBQ flavored. Ours was a large party, so I had a chance to try several different dishes. The pork chop, ribeye, and smoked half chicken all tasted like they'd been cooked wrapped in bacon (yum), and the shrimp appetizer also had that faint smoky flavor and a nice spicy kick besides. I had the salmon, which was perfectly cooked. The beer-battered flounder and the burger also got raves. We'll be back soon.5/19/2013 12:00:00 AMNoteworthy!Festive atmosphere and nice place for a drink at rhe Bar right after work. Just come for the ribeye!5/15/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat place to eat. This was a terrific eating experience. The service was excellent. Every time we were ready for our next course it was there and not too soon either. It was as if it was magic that the food came when we were ready for it. My friend and I shared everything from appetizer to dessert and the staff split every course for us. We had a shrimp appetizer that was yummy and way too much for one unless you had it for a main dish. We also shared the caesar salad that was excellent with a wonderful taste of anchovies. For our entree we ordered the ale-battered flounder and it was delicious. We topped off the meal with a mouth watering chocolate cake that was to die for, It came with a yummy vanilla ice cream and alas, we couldn't finish it.
Bravo!5/14/2013 12:00:00 AMLaid back but not lackingOur server was really pleasant, helpful with making beer and wine selections. Described and announced favorites on the menu without having to be asked. Even though the restaurant was busy, all food arrived on time and hot, and was great. Will be back again.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMThis was my second time diningThis was my second time dining at Corner Tavern and the food and service is consistently good. Will definitely return.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMWent to celebrate friend'sWent to celebrate friend's birthday, was pleasantly surprised to find birthday greeting on menu. Birthday celebrant loved it! Had a decent selection of draft beers and food was good (appetizers and main dishes). Dessert menu could be improved on though...didn't really like the strawberry genoise cake with basil and the chocolate truffle cake was a bit too dry.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat Lunch Spot, ConvenientThis restaurant is a great addition to the Walnut Creek food scene. Conveniently located to Broadway Plaza shopping, the food is excellent.5/9/2013 12:00:00 AMOverall great, service slowWe have a nice lunch here, but the service, while friendly and helpful, was slow. It took a while before our orders were taken, another longish wait for our food and again to get the check. I don't mind leisurely, but this was longer than that. The waiter was very good at menu suggestions, unobtrusive in refilling water and had a pleasant table-side manner. Our food, the fish and chips and a hamburger, were very delicious, as were the donut puffs and the chocolate truffle cake. I will still come back!5/9/2013 12:00:00 AMCorner's Tavern revisitedWill be returning on the 26th of May for lunch. Bringing friends. My wife and her friend from SF, a sophisticated diner, had lunch at the Tavern this past Saturday. Her friend had the gnocchi and my wife the ale battered flounder, both of which were described as delicious. Looking forward to lunch there again, which for me is the true test of the quality of an eatery-the willingness of customers to return to the place of business.5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMDowntown Tavern, Around the CornerA upscaled cafe with a lively bar. The food menu was limited but there are sufficient selections to fill the taste of most customers. I had the pork chop and it was covered with a very enjoyable sauce. It certainly was a double cut and I had to take some of it home. Certainly, wll be willing to come back again.5/3/2013 12:00:00 AMWe loved our waiter Brian...WillWe loved our waiter Brian...Will ask for him when we visit again4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMCelebrated a birthday dinnerCelebrated a birthday dinner at Corners Tavern. It was my first time dining at this place. The good, ambiance & service was excellent! I love the variety of wine & beer selection. Great find in Walnut Creek. I found out out this restaurant thru good rating in YELP. I'll definitely come back again and try their brunch menu.4/24/2013 12:00:00 AMWaiter could have been moreWaiter could have been more attentive. He did not check on us often enough. Did not bring bread at all. Did not ask us if we wanted coffee at the end of the meal. Felt liek a different waiter would have made the expereince even better. Food was great.4/19/2013 12:00:00 AMThis was the third time IThis was the third time I have been here. The food has been delicious each time. This past Sunday, we had a 12:30 reservaton (for 3) and by the time we left, it was getting louder. We had no problem hearing each other.4/14/2013 12:00:00 AMHad my birthday dinner there;Had my birthday dinner there; we were welcomed with special menus printed with my name and a birthday greeting. Not an extensive menu, but we each had something different, and all three selections were good. Service was friendly and attentive. The chocolate cake/creme fraiche ice cream/caramel/spiced graham cracker dessert was outstanding.4/11/2013 12:00:00 AMFood and Service were outstanding.Food and Service were outstanding. Waiter made some great recommendations that did not fail. I had the pork chop and my wife have the flounder. Pork chop could compete with the best that I have ever had and the flounder was flaky and delicious.
Definitely want to go back to try the burger!4/11/2013 12:00:00 AMAgain very suitable for businessAgain very suitable for business lunch I had there, Service was exceptionally good. Most notably, when our desert arrived and after I had started consuming mine, I expressed a preference for the more attractive desert that my companion/guest had ordered, and the waiter without hesitation replaced what I had with a duplicate of my my companion/guest was having.4/9/2013 12:00:00 AMThis was my second visit toThis was my second visit to Corner's Tavern within a month. Both were lunches. I think the most outstanding dish is the brussel sprout starter. I had it both times. The burger is fabulous but one should request the homemade potatoe chips instead of the fries. The fries are fine but the chips are great!!! The second time I had the gnocchi which was prepared exactly right - melt in your mouth not chewy. The service is really outstanding as well. Both times our waitresses were helpful and informative.4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMThe food was great. GreatThe food was great. Great wine and beers to chose from. Very loud. Excellent service from bar tender (Ryan) and servers.4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMI put in my OpenTable reservationI put in my OpenTable reservation that it was my wife's birthday. When we arrived we were greeted with customized menus saying "Happy Birthday Claire". Nice touch.
We struck up a conversation with a nearby table of visting ladies and had a great time. By the way, the food and drinks were great too.4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMThird visit here; this timeThird visit here; this time for a work lunch with 7 others. Excellent, diverse menu. Very fresh ingredients. Efficient, professional, friendly service. If you like this sort of thing, the burger is a must.4/1/2013 12:00:00 AMCorners Tavern is outstanding!Corners Tavern is outstanding! The food, service, and atmosphere make this a great place for any occasion. Located in the heart of Downtown Walnut Creek makes it a great destination.3/31/2013 12:00:00 AMI ordered the famous CornerI ordered the famous Corner Burger and was disappointed to find that my medium rare request turned out to be more medium. The quality of the meat was excellent however, and so the overcooking of the burger was not such a big deal. The pickled red onions were quite tough and I had to take them off the burger as I could not only cut through them, but they were difficult to eat.
The service was quite good and the management staff was available to talk about the meal service. I would definitely return to order some other items.3/30/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat food, great service, noisyBeen there twice now and both times were amazing. Service was very friendly and staff aimed to please. Food was excellent. They have a brussel sprout starter that is amazing and hate those thing. A little noisy so may have to talk a little louder.3/23/2013 12:00:00 AMMy friend and I very muchMy friend and I very much enjoyed our lunch. We each ordered a different sandwich and had one half of each. Both were delicious!3/20/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat omelette and hamburger.Great omelette and hamburger. Food was slow to come after we ordered and we had to request bread. Helpful and pleasant waiter.3/17/2013 12:00:00 AMNOT REALLY A TAVERN (but good beer)My husband and I ate here for the 4th time since opening. Each time great food, nice atmosphere and outstanding service. The name and the large (and nice) bar make you think burgers and fish and chips....and they do have that...but the food is much more upscale. A rival to many of the fine restaurants that we visit in the city. Seared salmon with citrus salad...Crusted sole with squash gnocchi. The outdoor patio is very nice and the garage doors that open in the front make the entire restaurant feel like you're eating outside even when inside (where it's warmer). Expect this place to be PACKED when the Walnut Creek weather warms up.3/16/2013 12:00:00 AMMy wife and I have had dinnerMy wife and I have had dinner here at least six times now. The service and food are consistently very good. There is an energetic crowd, but it is not too noisy. When the weather is nice, the restaurant rolls open their firestation garage doors connecting to the outside eating area. This provides a comfortable indoor/outdoor feeling that adds a casual and relaxing element to the restaurant. The menu includes a nice selection of seafood, beef (including juicy tavern burgers) and chicken entrees. Appetizers and side dishes include tasty and healthful salads and vegetables that are great for sharing. We highly recommend this restaurant.3/15/2013 12:00:00 AMWe loved our first lunch here.We loved our first lunch here. We came from out of town and have since recommended it to others. Our Hemmingway's Daquiris were fantastic. My goat's cheese tart was divine. My mother, 90 years old, who loves to lunch or dine at places that serve food better than she can cook at home was very pleased with her Mediterranean Stew except that it was too spicy for her. This trend toward jalapenos in everything including desserts is a bit much in our opinion.
We also heard from local sales people that the burgers at Happy Hour were incredible!3/5/2013 12:00:00 AMReally terrific menu withReally terrific menu with unique presentations of the usual stuff. A bit noisy but the food, drinks and service make it worthwhile.12/19/2012 12:00:00 AM
