A word from Corner Kitchen
Tucked into a quiet corner of Biltmore Village is one of Richard Sharp Smith's original Tudor Style cottages, and one of Asheville's most surprising restaurants. Chef Joe Scully brings years of culinary experience to bear in his special North Carolina take on Pan-American cuisine (he calls it "Caromerican"), while host Kevin Westmoreland makes you feel as welcome as an old friend at breakfast, lunch or dinner.

Dine in the sunny “Side Porch”, where tables cluster around a generous bar, or in one of the cozy fireplace rooms - upstairs or down. When the weather's right, relax on the Patio and take in the singular beauty of Historic Biltmore Village. If you are looking for the perfect spot for your next meeting, luncheon or other group function, call or email and make arrangements for an unforgettably great special event.

The Corner Kitchen has a well deserved reputation for good food so we were glad to get a brunch reservation on a Sunday morning. We were seated in a bar area that at one time was an outdoor porch. A very comfortable room . After finishing a tasty ,perfectly prepared ,meal I began looking around and realized that the place has apparently not been thourghly cleaned since the last remodel. I first noticed the layer of fuzz/ dust along all of the exposed air outlets into the room. I then noticed the air return panel which was at floor height about 10 feet away and easily accessible for cleaning. It was also coated with an obvious layer of fuzz. Baseboards grey, decorative cloth covered panels above our heads - arcs of brownish discoloration (grease vapor) and visible dust bunnies that appeared ready to fall directly on our plates, the white Bose speakers over the bar- brownish arcs. I am not a germophobe ,but I would not eat there again until it has been cleaned / painted/ redecorated. I did not point this out to my wife who was still eating because she would have stopped and left without consuming another bite.

We went for Sunday brunch. We stuck to the breakfast items. The food was just ok, not outstanding. Toast was served cold and dry. Where we are from, it traditionally comes buttered/warm. The omelettes are actually plain egg wrapped around your choice of fillings , which are not actually cooked into the omelette. This too is not what is expected. The waffle was smaller than an average waffle and no different from any other waffle, but is advertised as being something special. Sausage was incredibly greasy and inedible. The waitstaff was nice, but easily confused when asked to brink milk for coffee. I was surprised to see that they offer vegetarian meat options, but not Turkey bacon or pancakes or fresh blueberries . These may be regional norms that I was not expecting, but disappointing , given the rave reviews I had read. I would not return for breakfast. The dinner options sounded good, but I still would not return if in the area

Have never had a bad meal here. Food selection is very eclectic, very different. This is not a mashed potatoes and broccoli place - they always have something that I have never tried before, or have combinations that are very original. Go here knowing that you don't know what you are going to order.

Reservations are needed. Glad I had one. Been here about 10 times over the last few years, never disappointed. The braised short ribs on the menu now are awesome. One of the best meals I have ever had, anywhere, at any price. My wife had the pecan crusted trout fillet and said it was delicious and not a heavy meal. The service is excellent by a competent, friendly wait staff. I look forward to my next trip which will include an evening at the Corner Kitchen.

We met some folks in a wine shop a hundred miles away who highly recommended having dinner at Corner Kitchen once they learned we were headed to Asheville. We weren't able to get in that evening but we waited until the following evening and it was WELL worth the effort to come the following evening. Everything that all 4 of us ordered was the best it could have been. Presentation was wonderful, food was delicious and our waiter was outstanding! He was particularly knowledgeable about gluten-free options which was important to one person in our group.

Atmosphere was wonderful--as was the food. Because one of the people in my party deals with hearing loss, I asked for a table where we would most likely have quieter surroundings. At first, everything was fine. But shortly after we arrived, a party of six sat at a table across from us--a group of older people who were celebrating a birthday. From that point on, my hearing-challenged friend was struggling to hear what was being said at our table. I realize this may be a next-to-impossible issue to address, but it seemed worth mentioning.

The Corner Kitchen is one of our favorite spots in the Ashville area. We have a 2nd home in Montreat and will without fail be at the Corner Kitchen at least once if not more over a three day weekend. We love lunch and all the great items you offer. Sunday lunch will be your fried chicken, greens and grits. We really don't need a menu as we are creatures of habit and know what we want. On the other hand we will try other items from the menu which have always be wonderful. It is a great experience for us and the family which makes the trip to Montreat that much more enjoyable. We are so pleased and glad you all are there.

This is maybe the 6th or 7th time we have eaten there on our trips to Asheville, and it never disappoints. It has now also become our friends' favorite place and they will always make sure we have reservations when we are all in town. The flounder was the best this time, with the stuffed chicken a close second. The meatloaf was a little tough and hard to chew like a piece of steak, but the sides make it more enjoyable. We have ordered it before and did not notice this problem. Steven, our waiter, was great!

The flounder was especially delicious, and the wine selection very good. I like oaky, California Chardonnays, and I had plenty of choice. The server was great. We were pleased that we arrived early, around 5:15, so that the noise level was moderate, and the ambience was pleasant. We will look forward to returning when we next visit Asheville.
