A word from Corner Kitchen
Tucked into a quiet corner of Biltmore Village is one of Richard Sharp Smith's original Tudor Style cottages, and one of Asheville's most surprising restaurants. Chef Joe Scully brings years of culinary experience to bear in his special North Carolina take on Pan-American cuisine (he calls it "Caromerican"), while host Kevin Westmoreland makes you feel as welcome as an old friend at breakfast, lunch or dinner.

Dine in the sunny “Side Porch”, where tables cluster around a generous bar, or in one of the cozy fireplace rooms - upstairs or down. When the weather's right, relax on the Patio and take in the singular beauty of Historic Biltmore Village. If you are looking for the perfect spot for your next meeting, luncheon or other group function, call or email and make arrangements for an unforgettably great special event.

Diner Reviews
  • "Terrific service, thanks McCrae! Personal service and the food suggestions were spot on!"

  • "Make sure you have reservations. Plan extra 10 minutes to find parking spot. Chowder was good, would have been great if hot. Unique combinations in Salmon salad excellent. Crab cakes and sauce were some of the best we have had. Trout was average. Vegetables only warm. Will go back. "

  • "Incredible food, magnificent service, and unfortunately (as it has been every time I have dined there) smothered by having the music turned up way way too loud. It was as though the back kitchen staff wanted to hear but didn't have a speaker in there, so it was cranked up to be heard via the dining room. EVERY SINGLE TIME! This is an extraordinary restaurant and I just don't understand why this singular flaw is consistently going without attention. The meal contained some of the best bites I have tasted in a very long time, and I get the opportunity for great tastes often. Don't miss the Crusted Brie appetizer (or dessert) if it is on the menu!"

  • "This is one of Asheville's finest (and famous - thanks to the Obama's) eateries. My husband and I always enjoy meals here and particularly like grabbing Sunday brunch after church."

  • "as usual the food was superb as was the service and ambiance-creative menu and very fairly priced for the caliber of food"

  • "I've come to expect great/innovative menu selections, professional service. I make it a point to stop in whenever I'm in Asheville."

  • "Food was OK but a bit overpriced. Appearance of restaurant was poor. Much better choices out there."

  • "I can see this place being a great tourist trap, especially for buses full of elderly tourists. My boyfriend and I booked about 2 weeks in advance for dinner for two and ended up having to wait for a seat and ultimately choosing to sit at the bar. The bartender seemed like he was pretty involved in developing his "persona" to clientele. "Everything is great here" but "I'm not a big fan of this" and "I typically eat this whenever we have it available". I chose the bartender's recommendation, which was a grouper in red sauce with clams and muscles over a bed of polenta/grits. It may have been poor selection for what we were looking for in taste...everything was heavy and the place was loud with no room to wait. Drinks were good. Overall meh."

  • "Really good food and presentation. There is a lot of love that goes into their food. Highly recommended"

  • "Every time I am in town I find it difficult not to dine here. Never had a bad experience. Wait staff is attentive but not bothersome, food is excellent. It is a little quieter in the dining rooms rather than the bar area. I always look forward to coming back. Reservations are needed even during the weekdays."

  • "We really enjoyed dinner. Very creative and unique menu. We enjoyed it so much we came back for breakfast the next morning."

  • "A group of eight women ate dinner there recently. We had a great server, who was so nice to give us separate checks. (know that is a pain!) And the food was wonderful....meat loaf is incredible! Highly recommend"

  • "On our first trip to Asheville we were fortunate to find this wonderful place. Everything was top notch. Unique delicious food, great friendly service, and warm inviting ambiance. Can't wait to return."

  • "eat late at night so was not busy, food was good but rated a fair because they was not busy and food was served just luke warm. also, thought service was a little so for a place that was not busy. I have eaten here in the past and in was very good. I might have hit a bad night."

  • "My fiance and I were late for our bunch reservation last week but the host of the restaurant was kind enough to find us a table quickly . The food we had was truly wonderful. I highly recommend the biscuit "bennies". Delicious! I would definitely come back here."

  • "Recommended by a friend - made sure we had a reservation but didn't seem too busy on Sat. morning @ 10am. I was kind of surprised that the brunch menu didn't have fruits or salads available. I felt like the menu was pretty reserved for breakfast/brunch items. Lots of things I would have eaten later in the day but I was looking for lighter fare. Had the bagels & lox which was nicely presented - enjoyed their favors."

  • "While we were in town, we had breakfast and dinner at the Corner Kitchen. We enjoyed both meals. The food was presented nicely and delicious. The restaurant itself is quaint. I would recommend reservations for dinner."

  • "Was our first visit and we will definitely go back when we are in Asheville. Food preparation was very original and it was obvious that ingredients were fresh. One of the best salads that I have ever had and Mahi was cooked perfectly. Great waiter."

  • "Glad to have a reservation as there was a line waiting for tables, even for lunch on a Tuesday. Everyone, from host to servers was wonderfully friendly. As at Chestnut, servers know every item on the menu and describe the food so well it makes it hard to choose - everything sounds delicious. I often ask for server's favorites and have never been disappointed. Everything is always cooked perfectly. Corner Kitchen is a great place to eat!"

  • "A friend recommended my husband and I visit this restaurant for brunch/breakfast while we visited Asheville. I ordered the trout with hash browns and asparagus. My husband ordered scrambled eggs, hashbrowns, grits, bacon, and a biscuit. The bacon and biscuit were not included with the meal and included additional charges for each. That would be the only complaint. When my husband thought he was ordering a side of biscuits, he thought it would be at least 2. He received only one biscuit and ended up leaving the place still hungry. Breakfast is his favorite meal of the day and he left wanting more."

  • "Made a reservation for Sunday brunch. We were seated right away. We chatted it up with some old friends for an hour and 45 min. with no harsh looks from the staff (sorry guys). The food was great. Service was quick and friendly. It was our first time there and will definitly return."

  • "We had a great meal. I really enjoyed the mountain trout and my husband enjoyed the curry chicken. We have been coming to the Corner kitchen regularly for the last few years and love it."

  • "We are never disappointed regardless the meal. We have had breakfast, brunch, lunch, & dinner here over the years. Each experience has been excellent. Staff is wonderful and we feel that they combined with level of food are what makes the experience so enjoyable. This is our go to place and we don't live that close (an hour away)."

  • "Food and service excellent as always. Sat a very small table in the middle of the bar area. Much to close to people standing at the bar. Customers and staff walked on both sides of our table. Will ask to wait for a different table if ever offered one of these tables again."

  • "I am a returning patron and Corner Kitchen never disappoints! The atmosphere, food, and service is hard to beat anywhere else in Asheville. Give this place a try and it will definitely become a favorite."

  • "After an absence of a year, our late March return to one of our favorite Asheville restaurants,The Corner Kitchen, did not disappoint, except on two accounts. Our entrees, roasted organic chicken on couscous salad and salmon with parsnips, were well-prepared and satisfying, as was the creamy potato bacon soup. However, we also ordered the bread basket, which promised three types of breads including naan, our preferred among the three, and promptly retracted it when we were told there would be only two types because there was not enough naan to include. (Apparently, one of the listed entrees included naan and since the naan supply was not adequate for both, that entree took priority.) There also was no cheese board on the Appetizer list."

  • "We ate at Corner Kitchen with friends who go regularly--it wasonly our second time, the first time being years ago. The food was very good, with nice portion sizes. There, unfortunately, was only one dish for vegans. I think the menu should be expanded to give vegans a choice of entree. Otherwise, a very nice dining experience."

  • "I have been to this restaurant many times. These days I can't stop ordering the salmon patties, made with fresh salmon. Come try these!!"

  • "I had heard rave reviews about Corner Kitchen and chose to take a vegetarian friend for a special occasion because of the good vegetarian options. The vegetarian entree and salads were very good but we were underwhelmed by the meatloaf and pecan crusted trout entrees. The consistency of the meatloaf is smooth with a sweet honey mustard sauce. Would prefer to have more textural variety - chunks of mushroom, onion, peppers etc. with the meat. The trout tasted good but was not very temperature hot. I think our expectations were very high and the food was pretty average."

  • "The meatloaf wasn't my favorite, but my husband's shrimp curry was amazing and the white chocolate bread pudding is to die for."
    Dined on 3/24/2014
  • "I usually have wine or a martini but tried their ginger bourbon cocktail. Full flavored homemade ginger base very refreshing and delicious. The corn crab soup was totally awesome as were the corn-dusted oysters. Will be going back soon for them! We had two entrees the shrimp and scallops. Shrimp were very flavorful, good sized and lightly breaded with panko. The dipping sauce was perfect for the shrimp & sticky rice -asian flavored but not too salty. A refreshing cucumber salad completed the plate. Three jumbo scallops were nicely pan seared served with a tasty beet salad. Ice wine was divine. We took dessert home bread pudding with caramel sauce and vanilla ice cream. The following day it was still delicious warmed up in the microwave."

  • "Corner Kitchen has become our new favorite restaurant in Asheville, a city that has more than its share of great restaurants. We were there for a Sunday brunch, and the food was outstanding. Delicious, imaginative and very nicely presented. The chefs and servers are obviously professionals. Great food and great service. Can't wait to go back and explore more of the menu."

  • "A friend recommended this place and we are glad they did. What a place to celebrate 49 years of marriage. The waiter was outstanding and so helpful with the menu. I don't like cucumbers, he suggested sweet potatoes (even told how they were made!)My friend said, "save room for the bread pudding." I did and it was great. This was a meal we will remember. So glad we were told of this place. If we are even in Asheville again we will return."
