Corner HouseWent there for my dad's birthday.Went there for my dad's birthday. I had there lamb, which was cooked to perfection. Their desserts were fantastic and the wine list was extensive but not ridiculous. Being set in a house gives it that 'old world' atmosphere... Difficult to find places like this in trendy Toronto!
The service was outstanding and the food delicious!!
We went with the Winterlicious menu and it was difficult to decide on the many choices offered.
We will be back for sure!

The food was excellent and the service started out very well but didn't end so well. I guess when they got busier, the waiter seemed to forget about us, forgot about our dessert, and then my pet peeve...couldn't find him anywhere when I wanted to finally pay the bill. He did make up the dessert problem for us by taking it off the bill.
We had the grilled calamari to start which was good and the scallops on lemon risotto for main dish - it was fantastic. The asparagus that I had with it was the best I've ever had - grilled or something with a fantastic flavour. Scallops were very, very good to as well as the risotto. This was by far our best experience. If it's on the menu, I have the black Angus striploin. This is by far the best steak I've ever had. It's so tender, you don't need a steak knife to cut it, as only a butter knife is provided. In all the years that my wife and I have gone, we've only had a great experience. Overall experience is always outstanding. The food and staff are fabulous.6/4/2013 12:00:00 AMOnly hitch was the serviceFirstly, the most important thing: The food was wonderful, no complaints. However, I don't know if where we were seated was their only dining room, but wow was it cramped. As far as the service goes, our waiter was very polite and helpful, but he came to take our order and we weren't ready so I asked him to return in two minutes, it was at least 15 minutes before we saw him again. I wasn't facing towards the inside of the room so I couldn't see when he entered or left, but he didn't come back to us for far too long. In general, it's not a big deal, but we had a couple of events to attend after dinner that night and the wasted time just irked me.

We sat in a quiet downstairs corner by the fireplace with large candles burning. The waiter was extremely friendly and seemed to know every detail about the menu and what we might enjoy. He was really a dining guide more than a waiter. But, most of all the food was great! We tried some items that were a bit unusual and we were so impressed. The smoked trout tartar was gentle and delicious. The rack of Lamb was cooked perfectly and tasted better than any I remember. The Seared Wild Alaskan Black Cod was mysterious and fantastic. We finished off with real Key Limes in the Key Lime pie with Rasberry Sorbet. We are so appreciative to find this restaurant. I'm incredibly happy I took a chance and booked a reservation for my anniversary dinner with my partner. The food was incredible, especially the seafood platter appetizer plate. Our server was really friendly and very knowledgeable about the wine and the food. I would recommend this to anyone looking for a cute date spot. I can't wait to come back and try out the patio (we were there when it was a touch too cold to be outside). It says a lot that it is still in business. The food was outstanding but the service was a bit rushed. It was however Mother's Day. All of us enjoyed the meal , every course was excellent. With limited notice Chef created an entre for my daughter, (lactose intolerant vegetarion) that was exceptional.
