  • Haven't found the right dish yet

We have eaten at Corner 41 twice, but haven't found the right dish yet. We have typically ordered lighter dishes, and this doesn't seem to be the type of meal at which they excel; they tend to be a bit bland. We think that the heavier meals (burgers, steaks, etc.) may be better, since others that we spoke to seemed to really like those choices. The people and service at the restaurant are very friendly, so I will go back, and next time I'm getting a burger.

  • Not just a bar and grill

Though there is a bar area and all the normal bar and grill food, there is also a very nice dining area that is separated from the bar. There is a full menu, wine list and mixed drinks. The food was good and pepared very well (i.e. my rice and fish were at the perfect doneness.) The most notable part, however, was the service. The staff, which I believe included the husband and wife owners, could not have been more friendly. Very sweet people. Simple and comfortable with good food and great service.

Saturday night of July 4th weekend, I was essentially the only person in the dining room. (A couple folks at the bar, some outdoor tables occupied.) Service was very attentive, as a result. Food was so-so - onion soup was too cheesy and not onion-ey enough; filet was underdone (Medium Rare isn't supposed to mean near-raw in the center, I don't think). Would eat there again if I lived in the neighborhood, but wouldn't travel to get there.

Took 10 minutes to get a drink list, the bread rolls came when our entrees where served (hot warm bread was actually the best part of the dinner). Food was okay, service was horrible but can't really blame the waitress since they had to bus every table by herself (hire a bus boy!!). I would never go back.

I went to this restaurant because I wanted an Ostrich Burger. When I tried to order one, and this was at 7 pm on a Saturday night, I was told they were out. So I had one of their other beef burgers, which was fine. However, it was quite cool in the restaurant. When I go out I expect to be comfortable. This night, I was not. The temperature in the restaurant felt like it was 65. I would go back, but not when the outside temperature was below 60.

Now while you look at the oustide of the place, you might just pass this place by, but when you walk inside it looks amazing. Its like night and day. The beautiful warm colors they use, the tables and booths, it is just very warm and inviting inside. They had a special menu for the night and it was a lot of food for the price. My meal came with a steak and two lobster tails plus a side. I ordered my steak medium well and my date had rare, its nice to say that we were both pleased with how they came out. Our server was very attentive and helpful, while my date went out to smoke a quick cigarette in between courses, our food came, and our server went outside to tell him that his food was ready.

The place is attractive but was pretty empty for Father's Day. Even so, the service was on the slow side. The steaks were good; but two filet mignon's were done very differently. There is no focus on presentation, the food is just plopped on the plate. We would probably come back since it is in the neighborhood, but felt that it wasn't a great value for the money.

Although the menu seem inspired, the execution left much to be desired, I had they oysters rockefeller, flavorless. Then the lobster burger, the only taste was from the sauce, a bit cloying sweet. My partner had the salmon, ordered it rare, it came overcooked, but on the second time it came rare....but nothing special about the prep. One good thing, the food is not the draw, so its a quite place to drink.

Nice people, decent food. Waitress seemed new, hadn't tried some of the food I asked about (the potatoes made with the bacon, I forget what fancy name they gave them, weren't as good as they sound), staff should be better trained. Furnishings were nice, but seemed sparse given the space.

Not too crazy about this place. First of all the lighting is terrible! It was very difficult to see the menu and it was still daylight. I can only imagine as the evening goes on it must be worse. Our appetizer came out luke-warm and it was a cheese dish so not a good start. The food was just fair nothing to rave about or make we want to come back. I won't be going back

It's a well kept place. My g/f just moved to the area so we went there for a late dinner (8:45 p.m.)on a friday night. Not too many people in the place for the size of it, but by no means was empty. I like the setup of the bar in front and restaunt behind the bar wall. Very open space but very personal atmosphere as we sat in a booth. Asparagus was not so good, served chilled (must have missed that on the menu) but I had the portabella wrap and my girlfriend had a burger. Both were good quality and the fries that came with the burger were acceptable but not out of this world. Ultimatly, a quality restaurant with fair prices. I would say, we'll be back there once every 2 months or so.

My husband loved the French Onion Soup, but my baked goat cheese came with toast points that were downright hard. I had to soak them in the tomato broth that goat cheese rested on. My spicy half chicken was delightful and my husband was quite pleased with the pork, but the dessert of bread pudding was dry and pretty flavorless. How can bread pudding be dry? Cute place and I am glad I tried it, but with so many really outstanding places in the neighborhood, I don't think I'll be patronizing this place for a while.

Extremely disappointing. This place used to be called Cy's Steak House - same owner, different menu, and is nowhere near as good. First, there was no only one other occupied table (bad sign). The staff were very nice, but the food seemed pre-cooked, frozen, then heated up, and inedible. We ended up leaving to have dinner down the block. I hope they turn this place around, but it doesn't seem likely.

We live on the South side, and had no problem finding the restaurant. Street parking was available with no problem. The meal was excellent. The chef has a knack for putting dishes together fairly quickly and with a touch of flair. The kitchen was open so that you could see the chef at work. We thoroughly enjoyed our evening at Corner 41 and will be going back again soon.

Corner 41 was quiet (not too busy) the evening we were there with friends This was logical in view of the timing: spring break for CPS had started the day before. The food was good and the wine list good, as well, without being overpriced. Service was leisurely to begin with, given the smallish crowd in the restaurant, but we were in no hurry and did decide to order by course rather than everything at once. If I had a complaint, it was that the lighting was not quite sufficient to comfortably read the menu. We managed, however, and all four agreed that we'd return there.

The food was really good. Loved the variety of different kinds of food. The only problem we had was the service. We had like 3 different waiters/waitresses come and take our order that when we were ready for the check..no one came to us. We had to reach out to them and ask them for it. Also, while we were eating no one came by to refill out waters or ask us how everything was goind. I used to be a waitress and that is ALWAYS something that I look for...not to overbearing but at least come by to see if we need water.

The food here is good enough. Nothing noteworthy. The cheap wings available in the bar are laughably poor. These scrawny little things are not worth serving. Good beer selection. Poor wine selection The tuna steak was fine. The salmon and burger was good too. However, they truly fail in ambiance. Why would you draw the shades, making the interior barely visible? What are you hiding?

Great first impression but then we sat down. The hostess spilled the salt shaker and just left it. Spotty water glasses and silverware, a chunk of dried something on my wine glass. The food was good but the menu lacked a consistant style of food. Are you serving bar or diner food or are you an upscale dining location? Waitress totally lacked personality. Glad I had $25 off that night!

I have lived in the neighborhood for almost a year now and have never noticed this place. It looks more like a bar when you pass it. Their sign outside says Corner 41 Bar and Grill so you wouldn't expect it to have anything more than just bar food. The prices were a little on the high side. However, after dining there I would say it was a good experience overall. The service was good. It was a tad chilly in there. Mood was dimly lit and pretty quiet. It is very spacious in the restaurant part and I liked the atmosphere. I had the salmon and veggies and it was very good! Apparently they have awesome sauce and participate in Ribfest every year, so I will have to check that out when the time comes.

The place had the perfect amount of service and the waitresss were both very kind and sweet each time we went. I have made reservationss twice (once during the week and once during weekend) and each time we were taken to our table without questioning whether we made reservations or not. Seems slow but the place has a great atmosphere (romantic and quiet) and great food. Can't wait to go again

Upon leaving the host made sure we enjoyed ourselves. The food was very reasonably priced and delicious. The mashed potatoes were stand out fantastic. My dining mate is a very picky eater, but greatly enjoyed his perfectly cooked open face chicken sandwich. My portabello sandwhich was delicious, and flavorful. It really seems like the owners take a lot of pride in the place and want it to do well, I hope they succeed.

The ribs were exceptional; however, the NY prime was shockingly bland. We dined @ Corner 41 for my mother's birthday - I'm happy my mother loved her ribs. The servings of flour-less chocolate cake for dessert were quite skimpy. With a few important tweaks, this lovely space could transform into a neighborhood gem.
