Diner Reviews
  • "Dare I write a review? Not sure if I want others to discover this hidden gem. Amazing food, attentive service and incredible wine list. Oh, and did I mention that the restaurant sits in the middle of a beautiful vineyard and they serve the wine too?"

  • "Maybe it was under-staffed, the service was extremely slow from taking orders, serving food to processing bill. The restaurant was pretty empty when we got there yet we were told that the kitchen was swamped and it would take a while for our food to be served- unfortunately the results weren't really worth the wait. My salad was under-dressed and no taste of the avocado; the soup was just ok. As for the entree, while the lamb meatballs were tough and did not taste like lamb, the polenta was delicious. My husband had a ruben sandwich which he loved; my friend had a vegetable sandwich which was relatively plain. Overall it was not a great experience. We will look for somewhere else for lunch next time."

  • "We eaten here twice on recent trips to Russian River Valley and the food was better this trip than the first. A very nice place for a quiet meal with some nice wine!"

  • "Decided to try this restaurant because they were participating in Sonoma Restaurant week. We sat outdoors and it was just wonderful. The food was great. We had the Gio Burger and the Fish and Chips with Truffle fries, and it was very tasty. It was a great place to stop between wine tastings."

  • "Corks is set in the redwoods of Forestville,CA. Situated next to a piece of history in the countryside. The rustic wooden winery building next to the restaurant has been there as long as I can remember. I have lived in Sonoma County since I was six,and I am now 59. The food was fresh as this is a garden to table restaurant. The servers and hostess were kind and considerate. It felt very comfortable. The outside patio is very nice and the Garden Room also. I did not sit outside as I brought my 88 year old mother and she gets cold easily. It was a very nice experience."

  • "The food was excellent, the wine list had a great variety of choices, and the ambiance was superb. We love eating at Corks!"

  • "While I hadn't expected to order a cheeseburger at this "food lovers" spot, I did and it was amazing!!! Their beef patties are made up of a mix of Angus steaks, thus the name "Geo Steak Burger." My husband had an equally excellent soup of the day. They let me taste two different wines before ordering. Nice folks."

  • "I have eaten here for 44 years, Lately we have owners seem to want to offer a great wine country experience but they must adhere to several basic restaurant ideas. This visit they did not have a wine listed on the menu? if you ran out take it off the menu. I then asked if they offered a champagne cocktail, no they dont do that. We ordered a pork belly dish, mine was almost 50% fat, a pure chunk of fat. Maybe it is supposed to have some but this is not the the good wine country upper-scale restaurant food I expected. Before the main course was brought We had a soup, before we were even half thru here comes the main course. But we have not finished the soup yet! Response , "Oh, do you want me to keep it warm until you are ready?" Well yes."

  • "Scallops were fantastic, and so was the sour-dough bread-crumb chicken. Service was truly excellent. We'll be back again!"

  • "We've normally gone to Cork's for dinner on special occasions but decided to stop in for a late lunch while in the area. The food and service were great as always."

  • "Last night my best friend I went to Corks in Forestville. I chose the restaurant based on comments I have heard from co workers. I Our server Dawn came over and introduced herself and opened the bottle of wine that we brought. My friend and I began looking at the menu or lack there of. The restaurant had a Valentines prix fixe menu that was lack luster. It was a at 3 course dinner for $75. OVER PRICED for the options and the décor. I ordered the Tomato soup with 2 grilled chees triangles, the Chicken breast with gnocchi and the chocolate beignets. Not a good way to spend a valentines day night. With all this being said, I will not go back to Corks. Read full review on yelp. Open table cannot hold the review I wrote."

  • "Setting: Beautiful Service: Unpleasant. Unfriendly. Inattentive. We had to ask another wait staff to take care of our check. Very disappointing. Between the 2 of us we were offered 2 comp wine tastings. We were told if we wanted any more we needed to visit the tasting room. We spent $167 + tip for 2 people. I don't think a couple samples of wine to see what paired with our meal was too much to ask in a restaurant that prides itself on pairings. Food: $12 salad - lettuce on a plate. Almost no dressing and no flavor. The worst I've ever had. The beet salad- very good. Fried calamari - ok/ average Scallops - $30 - The worst. I have had these in at least a dozen places in SF. Incomparable. Try Bistro AIX or ISA's for a sample of how it's done."

  • "We have been to Cork's often and LOVE the food and the cozines of the restaurant, especially in the "garden" enclosed area. On this occassion, the food, a prix fixe menu, was absolutely outstanding, although we weren't thrilled by the inflated cost ($75 for 3 courses), but of course, Valentine's Day is a special day. Our main complaint was the service. We waited 15 minutes from the time we were seated until the waitress came to take our orders! I think we somehow missed being on her rader or something. She didn't even apologize for the long wait. Service was ok, but not great after that. We've had better luck on evenings when it isn't such a big deal holiday."

  • "This is a small restaurant with limited seating, but very cozy and intimate. We were greeted warmly on arrival, and seated immediately. Service was quick, efficient, and very friendly. Food was very good. I had the Petaluma chicken with Quinoa while my wife had the vegetarian plate. Both were excellent. Our celebration of our 28th anniversary was only enhanced by this great meal. The chef greeted us before we departed, which was also a nice touch."

  • "Everything about the restaurant is nice, good not exceptional, very pleasant. The real win is the location and whole gestalt of the building and surroundings put together with a pleasant meal shared with friends. Note: I am a tough critic of restaurant food as we eat very well at home."

  • "Me and my girlfriend discovered this place never having been to this area. Our New Year's Eve dinner will be one to be remembered. Chef out did himself on taste, presentation and quantity. We enjoyed every bite. My girlfriend was disappointed she couldn't keep eating more and felt bad for the remainder of the prime rib she could not ingest. Great location at a winery, so we were able to order an estate grown pinot noir that complemented our meal perfectly. The servers were pleasant and engaging, always checking in and immediately following up if I had a question about anything. Would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for a "casual fine dining" experience."

  • "Still a favorite. Chef Ruben is a fabulous, inventive but grounded chef. Artful combinations and intense flavors. Portions are generous. The New Year's Eve prix fixe was amazing. Much of the produce comes from the restaurant's own garden and most everything else is locally sourced; the wine list represents the producers in the area. Very good choice in wine country."

  • "I always enjoy this spot. The old house is so charming. We ate dinner inside due to the winter climate this time, but I have dined many times outdoors as well. It's a great place to take out of town guests to introduce them to Sonoma County. Great place to dine."

  • "We dined here for my husbands birthday. We were both very excited until we arrived. It was a Monday but the restaurant was completely except for on other couple. Our waiter was very sweet but totally inexperienced. The food was ok but there way too much going on on the plate and both of our dishes could have been refined. For the price point of this restaurant we both expected more."

  • "As a treat we took friends to Corks to help support a local food bank on a specified night, when the restaurant donates a set portion of your bill to this worthy charity; most donate 25%, but Corks did 50%, and this caught my eye. I'd eaten there, but years ago (different owner) so we decided to give it a try. They have a nicely toned-up ambience and excellent live entertainment by a talented guitarist who did not overwhelm conversation. We may go back just to hear him again, in fact -- and to try some more of the menu. The food was excellent, beautifully served, and half of our party even knew the waitstaff as kids! Very good local wine selection & Cafe Angelica desserts. There's a nice outdoor patio for warm weather lunches, too."

  • "Exceptional food, exceptional service, exceptional wine. Band was good, but don't serve dinner in the bar. Band too loud and it ruined our dinner conversation and made us very uncomfortable. It was an unfortunate situation and I had so raved to my son and his wife about Corks. They were certainly not impressed with not being able to have conversation during the band playing as it was way too loud."

  • "This restaurant at the RRV winery is really a find. The chef has the right sense for what we like in food today; the menu is broad and flexible enough to allow every diner to choose food that suits his/her eating preferences. The patio is lovely: heaters and beautifully lit. The indoor space is attractive/inviting and has tables that feel private in the midst of other people. Our server was a pro: helpful, efficient, good customer interaction, not hovering. The real bargain here is the Tuesday night local winemaker prix fixe dinner--a 3 course for $30 plus a glass of the featured wine. No changes or subs but still amazing. Don't miss the pumpkin bread pudding! Nice selection of wines. The best prices are on the RRV wines they make here."

  • "Corks is situated so that you get a beautiful view of the surrounding hillsides and wineries. The three of us arrived early and the host was very gracious and sat us right away. The restaurant is country style, as the building is old, but it's decorated nicely to give an elegant, comfortable feel. Two of us had the potato parsnip soup, which was delightful. I had the beet salad, which was a tiny bit spicy, but OK. For the main course, I had the lamb shank, which was tender and delicious. It came with roasted brussel sprouts and other vegetables, which were overcooked. My dinner partners both had pasta dishes, which they said were delicious. The bread was served warm and it was fresh and "moorish." (I want want more of that)"

  • "The food was just superb and portions generous. The service staff was very helpful and so happy to please. The music was pleasant and did not overwhelm the environment so we were all able to enjoy each others conversation. Everyone in our group plans to return with others to share our "find"."

  • "Cork's at Russian River Vineyards is tucked away in Forestville, Ca (Sonoma County). It is a beautiful place to dine outdoors with sunlight filtered through majestic redwoods and surrounded by vineyards in all their spectacular autumnal colors. The food is simple but very good, prices are a bit pricey but worth it. Staff is friendly, pleasant, and very attentive. All in all one of my favorite places, would highly recommend this place to anyone foody or not."

  • "Drove up to the Russian River on a Saturday afternoon and stopped to try Corks. It was well worth it, everything was outstanding. The lamb, ravioli, beet salad and heirloom tomato soup were all excellent. However, the best part was the service, Polly was a great server who really knew the menu and made sure we enjoyed it all. Highly recommended!!"
