A word from Cork Tree Restaurant
Cork Tree Restaurant is built around California products. Local ingredients are used whenever possible and wines of the West Coast, particularly California, are featured.

The wine list is always a work in progress, with a balance of well known wineries, as well as boutique wineries.

Cork Tree enhabits a style rich in California elegance. Large and round booths privately encased in wood and fabric provide intimate spaces for conversation and romance, while providing views of the understated glamor of the dining room. Trees and a natural cascading fountain make the Cork Tree Patio wind-protected and well-appointed for dining under the stars. Additionally, depending on the size of your celebration, two private dining options await.

My husband and I went at 7pm on a Tuesday night-- place was nearly full. We had requested a booth and were accomodated which was a plus. Service was friendly and very effecient-- never obtrusive. My husband had the large wedge salad (3 small wedges on a long narrow plate) and I had the trio of soup tastings (which I thought was excellent!) Entrees were Bouillabaisse and Scallops with a sweet corn risotto and asparagus. Our server explained that the chef prepares the scallops more toward the rare side and asked if I would prefer them a bit more cooked-- which I did-- and they came out perfect. I was grateful he inquired about my preference. My only negative comment would be that the blood orange sauce on the scallops had little to no flavor and in my opinion added nothing at all. The corn risotto however was delicious-- very rich and flavorful. The Bouillabaisse was very good and had plenty of seafood. Slight negative was that there was a substantial layer of oil floating on top. Could have done without that. We opted for a glass of wine each rather than a bottle. Had a French Sancerre which was excellent. Overall, this is a lovely "neighborhood" restaurant with very good upscale food offerings. It is very pricey for a "neighborhood" place so for us it will remain a special occassion restaurant.

This high end restaurant knows how to please foodies. Waitstaff was on top of everything and friendly. White tablecloth elegance. Wish the music was softer..hard to chat. Great wine list and LOVE when the wine bottle is brought to the table so you can see what you are drinking!

I enjoy finding local restaurants when traveling and this is a winner! Menu is interesting but not overly "foodie". Wines are a little pricey but the selection is extensive. The banana split is not to be missed.

Whenever we visit the desert, dinner at the Cork Tree is a must! We have dined with them at least five or six times, and we have never been disappointed. As an older couple, it reminds us of the old classic dinner houses before the days of chain, noisy, predictable menu establishments. This visit was a celebration of birthdays and a 50 Anniversary. The birthday celebrations were noted, and a complimentary desert was served. The food was excellent, and the service attentive without being "hovering". I just wished that we could live closer to the Cork Tree. Then it would be easier to dine there more often!

We arrived early and had a choice of either inside or outside seating. We chose inside. The only negative of the evening was that they took a 4 seat table and split it and the table next to us was only 6 inches away. This was a great experience with good service and excellent food. The Sea Bass and Lamb were outstanding. We would definitely suggest and received recommend Cork Tree !

The good points are obvious, quality food, well presented and comfortable atmosphere. The beet salad with its dressing on the side was perfect. My Prime Rib was superb, as well as Sea Bass and Salmon plate. The down side for us was: my delicious dinner was lukewarm when delivered, the music was loud and not dinner music, had to ask twice for lemon for our water, and please take salad plates away from table, and for more bread, which is delicious. Just don't think that should be the case in such a quality dining place. But I will come back, maybe our experience is a one time thing.

It was our first visit to Cork Tree and we were very pleased. Various rooms had various levels of activity and energy, but you were able to pick your desired location from quiet to the bar scene. Drinks and Wine List were well crafted and the dinner was served with competence and at an appropriate time after some relaxation. Both of our choices were well prepared and entirely enjoyable. We will be back.

Most of the food was exceptional; there were 8 of us in total dining so we had lots of variety from the menu. The one really disappointing dish was the Halibut Special; it was an over dressed up mess. That said the appetizers were spot on, artichoke hearts wrapped in prosciutto was the best and the Black Cod was the most raved about dish in the group. The glaze on the fish was perfect. As for the dessert, avoid the Chocolate Lava Cake it was dry, small, and overall very disappointing.

In the desert for our Anniversary and have previously dined here. The food was amazing as always. My husband had the rack of Lamb and I had the Pork Shank. Lamb was perfectly cooked and a very generous portion. The Pork Shank was HUGE, and very tender and not fatty at all. Service was a bit spotty, but still fine. We indicated that it was our Anniversary, and we were pleased when an unexpected desert came with a candle in it. We did not order it. When we got our check, we were some what put off in that we were charged $6.00 for the desert that we didn't order, nor necessarily want or need. Not sure if there was fine print somewhere about that on the website about special occasions or what, but it left a bad taste in our mouth.

Funny analogy, but here is a five star dining delight in a neighborhood strip center location. From table side service to carts delivering your food, you might think you were in a cosmopolitan city restaurant. Start with a soup tasting of three delicious tomato, mushroom and asparagus soup. My BW [ beautiful wife ] had the best Sea Bass she's had in quite awhile and I stayed with fish as well thoroughly enjoying a fabulous Salmon preparation. Close out this fine dining experience with an apple tart and coffee and you say goodbye ,but not for long.

The restaurant, in a strip mall and very unpretentious building, never peaked our interest, even though it is walking distance from the JW Marriott, where we stay. It was 3 different recommendations from friends and acquaintances this past week, that finally made us make the reservation. When entering, we were surprised at the beauty and largeness of the bar and dining room and the intimacy of the patio where we had our table. Our waiter was friendly and helpful. His suggestions for both starters and enters were right on! We both had different salads ( although the beet salad could have used a few more beets) and both fish entrees were wonderful, moist and very satisfying. A great evening!

We love coming to Cork tree on our visits to Palm Desert - but not this time. Waitperson got the order wrong (wife got Ceasar salad instead of the Cork tree special salad) - the waitperson did not seem very approachable so she just ate it. The entre's - when they finally got there - were cold. She sent Grouper back to be heated up and then burned her mouth on them when they came back. My shortrips were barely warm. We left before desert. What's going on?
