A word from Core de Roma - West Chester
Core de Roma Trattoria is a casual, intimate, family owned Trattoria, offering authentic Roman cuisine while upholding the best of Roman tradition. Some examples of our mouth watering Roman delicacies include our signature Artichokes alla Core de Roma, Saltimbocca, and Bucatini alla Matriciana. Contrary to what some people say, we spelled our name as "Core de Roma" intentionally, meaning "The Heart of Rome" in our family's dialect. Our ultimate goal is to make all of our customers feel like family through our cozy atmosphere, friendly service, and home-made dishes. At Core de Roma you can expect the true heart of Rome in the heart of Philly. Continued

  • "A very nice addition to the West Chester restaurant scene!"

  • "We highly recommend Core de Roma! The food is amazing and the service is excellent. We had heard noise was a concern, but we sat near the front of the restaurant and it was not an issue."

  • "Wow. May be the best Italian meal we've had outside of Italy in the past few years. Octopus salad was perfect. No kidding, literally perfect. It came as an entire arm of the fish, but was incredibly tender, maybe the best I've ever had. The ossobuco was done to perfection, and unlike most, was a portion that did not leave one feeling stuffed, even though I could have (and perhaps should have) stopped after the octopus. This is a serious restaurant for serious Italian foodies. Don't let the out of the way shopping center location put you off. It is a must try, and maybe the best serious Italian food outside of Philadelphia."

  • "Core de Roma has the best Italian food in the Philly suburbs. Everything that is supposed to be hot is served hot. The service is excellent. The prices are very reasonable."

  • "Fabulous dinner for our party of 8 this past Wednesday night. All food selections were outstanding. Owner welcomed us, visited our table, and generously offered a complimentary dessert to our "birthday gal" while we all ordered from the delicious homemade dessert menu. Core de Roma is our favorite West Chester restaurant! Staff are well trained and attentive. Parking is available right outside the restaurant-a real plus in WC!"

  • "Our waiter (who I think may or may not have been the owner) was super friendly and accommodating. He went above and beyond what a typical waiter would, to make sure all our needs were met. We were from out of town and weren't familiar with the area, so it was nice to be treated so well. The food was really good also. It's a BYOB place though, so make sure to bring something to drink because they don't serve anything!"

  • "Been to Core de Roma several times and it continues to impress. Great food, courteous and prompt service, and reasonably priced. Went with the family (party of 5) and each of our dishes was delicious. The rib eye steak special was cooked perfectly medium rare and was as tender as any steak I've had. The bronzino was juicy, tender, and flaky and was expertly "prepared" table side after being presented from the kitchen. The other dishes were pasta plates (their specialty) which are spot on. The lasagne is a must-have if you're a fan. I'm not sure I've ever tasted better. The other dishes were pasta plates : one with a puttanesca sauce and the other with bologna. Both were done perfectly. Highly recommend this gem in West Chester"

  • "This visit just confirmed Core de Roma as our favorite West Chester restaurant. Consistently good food, friendly service, and great ambiance. We took friends there for their first visit and they agreed..."

  • "Loved the food but our waiter seemed harried and distracted. Food was a little slow coming out, plus waiter did not check in very often to see if we needed anything. Other than that it was a place we would go back to in the future."
    Dined on 6/14/2014
  • "Great waitress and busboy. Food was delicious. No hostess to greet us or place to check on reservation so arriving was a little awkward. Once we connected with someone though, she was helpful. The tables are tight, but the food and prices and service were so good we'd definitely go again."
    Dined on 6/14/2014
  • "Enjoyed our meals at this small neighborhood spot but the noise level made it very difficult to maintain a conversation and there was a breakdown in communication with the wait staff. We were asked to vacate our table 10 minutes after our check was received in order to accommodate the next reservation. Clearly not planning their reservations well."

  • "A nice addition to the local BYOB italian scene, located just out out of the main part of town. Nice tables, large bar for eating in when its busy. Wasn't too busy this night which was good since it was very loud even with the few tables that were taken. Great lobster ravioli with shrimp, I had the Veal Core de Roma with a great blush sauce, wife had the chicken parm. We both loved it and brought about half home. Brought one of our best bottles, can't beat it. Not expensive but great italian food. Service was decent but our waiter seemed to leave in the middle of our meal so a replacement came. She was good but the lack of continuity was unusual. Despite that and the noise, the food is great so we'll be back"

  • "This was a special occasion dinner for two but we had forgotten it was a BYOB. However, the table location requested was fulfilled and the staff was gracious and accommodating. Service was excellent and attentive. Another nice asset for West Chester."

  • "A BYOB with above average food and service. A true gem for the people of West Chester!!"

  • "Core de Roma is a wonderful restaurant that has joined many great restaurants in West Chester proper. Just outside town center, (means free parking), you see a nice simple outside restaurant. Step inside and you feel like you stepped into an old world Italian restaurant. You usually are greeted by the owner Luigi Pinti and right away you get the feeling you are going to receive the best of service. And you do. Food is excellent and don't be afraid to ask for your food to be prepared a little different from the menu, it is never a problem. Great food, great service and just a joyous experience. Bet you can go just once! "

  • "Upon entering restaurant, the staff were extremely accommodating. The main course took what seemed to be a very long time to come out. Could not at that point locate our Food Associate to ask the status. By the time the food came out the restaurant was emptying out. The food was very good. (Fish and Veal dish). "

  • "This is the 2nd time we have eaten here in a month and the food and service is excellent. My wife had the core de roma w/chicken and raved about it. I had the salmon special which was also very good. Only downside to this place is when it gets packed on a Saturday night it can get a little noisy. Luigi is a very hospitable host. Can't wait to go back to this delightful BYOB to try something else on the menu."

  • "Our party of four enjoyed a great meal. Waitress Anna was superb. Would highly recommend. Remember- BYOB. "

  • "The restaurant's modest exterior and location in a small strip shopping center are no indication of the quality of the food here. Been several times and have not been disappointed yet. The lasagna is the best I've ever had and all the dishes I've had are great quality. It's BYO so you can easily have dinner for two for under $60. Great find. Try the homemade tiramasu. "

  • "The service was excellent and very friendly. The food was delicious and presented hot and nicely plated. This was our third time and we can't wait to return."

  • "What a pleasant surprise. Although the reviews for this restaurant were favorable I was still a little apprehensive about booking it for Mothers Day but this place was great. It wasn't that crowded, we didn't feel rushed and the food and service were excellent. The food was on par with LaLaconda and much better than Tratorria Guiseppe in nearby Newtown Square. It's a BYOB and they allow you to order a half portion of the entrees which ended up to be the perfect portion size for me. We had a great time and will definitely bring our friends back."

  • "This is another good Italian Restaurant in West Chester, PA. Its BYOB, so don't forget to bring a wine bottle or two. It located just east of the downtown center, so you don't have to fight the traffic or worry about finding a place to park. Plenty of parking in the lot and nearby streets. There was a lot of specials, too many to remember, seemed to be a special for each section of the menu. Stick to the menu and you will be just fine. This place doesn't seem to take itself too seriously, which allows to relax and enjoy the night. It what dinning out should be, a relaxing fun experience with some great food enjoyed with friends/family."

  • "I ate there last week with a group of friends. Each person had a different dish, and each loved what they had. We each had a pasta dish, so I do not know how to rate their fish, chicken, or beef dishes. As an appetizer, the octopus specialty was excellent as was the breaded artichoke. We shared dessert and the tiramisu for dessert was loved by all. I would like to see more variation from Roman Italian food--perhaps more fish dishes since I am a fish lover and do not eat beef or chicken. The only fish on the menu was tripe, and salmon steak as a special."

  • "Had been here for lunch and then went for dinner with two other couples. Ambiance recalls your Italian grandmother's home (ok, maybe a little nicer than that). Food is authentic and very, very good. Service was warn and helpful although on a busy Sat night, a little spotty. The noise level in the back room is very loud making conversation a little difficult, but a good time was had by all in spite of that. Next time we may try a week night. It is BYO which we love and prices are reasonable. We will go back"

  • "So this place has been around for about a year now, and this was our first time. There were four of us who got there around 7pm. The noise level in this place is UNREAL. I mean it got very close to a Center City nightclub. The table next to us actually had to leave b/c they couldn't hear each other. It was a mess. As for the food, the bread and meatball apps were quite good. Entrees were a complete disaster, though. The bronzino special was a whole-fish preparation w/ table-side deboning. EVERY SINGLE BITE WAS FILLED WITH BONES, COMPLETELY INEDIBLE. The other chicken dishes had no color on the chicken even though they were "sauteed", were under-seasoned terribly, & swimming in butter. Overall, not a very good experience. Won't be back."

  • "Visited Core de Roma on a rainy night and was somewhat disappointed. The restaurant was not busy but the service was slow. Expected something better from reviews but unfortunately it was not to be. Service was slow and it took a long while for our food to come out. Asked several times for more bread, but did not get it. The food was okay but for the price paid it did not justify it. May try again, but with other Italian places in West Chester that are sooo much better, not sure that we will. :( "

  • "My friend and I enjoyed a delicious meal at Core de Roma. The ambience was very nice and our server was very attentive. The octopus appetizer was delicious as was the chicken parmesan and linguini pescatore. We were happy to discover Core de Roma after being disappointed with another Italian meal in West Chester. In addition to their varied menu offerings they also had a good number of daily specials. "

  • "We are so glad to have found Core de Roma. I have been there twice for lunch and once for dinner. The food is really good and the owners and staff are friendly and welcoming. Service was great. The only glitch was our waiter misunderstood my daughter's request for a cup of tea and brought a cappuccino instead. However, it was excellent and my daughter enjoyed it. "

  • "Greeted warmly upon our arrival, our party of three was made to feel special by everyone in the Trattoria. Food was excellent, well prepared, full of flavor, and more than adequate portions. Would highly recommend this eatery to others, and will be sure to come back sooner rather than later. An excellent value for the casual diner. "

  • "we had dinner @ core di roma on south street & really enjoyed it, so we thought we would give west chester a try. although south street was good, we liked west chester better. the atmosphere, food & service were really good. i didn't realize it was a byob since south street has a bar and they were very accomodating directing us to the nearest state store. will def go back!"

  • "Another great night at Core de Roma. Our server was excellent, I asked Joe to swap out the Marsala sauce on the veal chop, he suggested a red wine reduction. Which was great. The Veal chop was cooked perfect, although at $32 it was a big nut for an average size chop. My wife and my friend ordered the Seafood Pescatore which was excellent as well. His wife ordered the Gnocchi special with CrabMeat which was absolutely delightful. We ordered the Grilled Calamari and the Buffalo Mozzarella special, both of which were enough to satisfy all 4 of us. This is our third visit and we cant wait to go back. Our host was amiable and flexible enough to get us in 15" early."

  • "My wife and I went on 4/14. I want to preface by saying that my wife and I are not the type to nitpick about restaurants and service as we have both worked in the field for years. That being said the service was very bad. We waited almost ten minutes to get greeted after we sat down. The restaurant was not busy either. Also had to wait about 40-45 minutes for our food. After our food came our waitress didn't come back to check on us for another 40mins, so no refills, also they forgot to bring my salad. Not going back. Food was just ok."

  • "This was a excellent meal in a place so loud that my wife and I couldn't even speak without actually yelling @ each other. Such a shame for such magnificent food!!!! I've been there many times before but never on a weekend. And I will never go on a weekend again. I would only recommend it because of the food....."

  • "Third time here and very good again. Great food and service is very good. The atmosphere is energetic - not a quiet romantic spot. One of the best italian joints in the burbs - we will be back!"
