CorduroyUniqueFood was different than found in most restaurants. I had a lovely meal of antelope--I don't know where else in this area that it is served. The beet salad had a layer of cheese that seemed like cake icing--delicious.6/14/2013 12:00:00 AMPrivate Birthday CelebrationWe went at 6:30 on a Wednesday night and were the only diners until 7:45. (I hear it's packed on the weekends) Our waiter was extremely knowledgeable about both food prep and wine. Even though we were the "lone" diners--we were not rushed. We had tried to book during restaurant week a few times and were not successful-no tables---Go early on a week night and have the place to yourself! Happy hour has a $30 three selection dinner at the upstairs bar (which was rocking), which we will try next.6/12/2013 12:00:00 AMchef menu... oh yesImportant business dinner, 6 of us and the Chef's menu, amazing. The food was off the charts, 6 course, perfectly sized even with one person having a food restriction, no problem. The waiter was excellent at explaining each dish, made it quick and everyone was engaged. The team swept the table clean between courses, it was awesome service.
Then desert came, 6 completely different deserts. Each person tasted their's, and then we passed, clockwise, so that every got to taste each of the desserts. We laughed, told stories, had exactly the kind of dinner every sales guy hopes for with a key account.
i've been entertaining clients for 35 years, I know good food and service, Corduroy has both. Great job.6/11/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent RestaurantWe loved the restaurant. It has an excellent menu selection and a great cocktail menu. We had a great time and will definitely go back here.6/8/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellentWe went to Corduroy for a celebratory dinner and could not have been more pleased with our experience. The atmosphere was perfect, energetic, but not too loud. Beautiful, contemporary decor. We went with the 5 course chef's surprise menu and loved everything that was presented. Our server (Vafa) was extremely knowledgeable and helpful with wine selections and steered us toward some great pairings. Loved that there was a nice selection of red and white half bottles available. Can't wait to go back!6/8/2013 12:00:00 AMCorduroy was a great find!Corduroy was a great find! Food was outstanding and service was impeccable. The entire staff goes out of their way to ensure your food, wine, and dining experience are the best. We will be back!6/8/2013 12:00:00 AMservice and food was greatFrom the moment we walked in, the service was great. The servers knew what they were talking about when it came to describing the different type of entrees they had on the menu. Very detailed and well mannered. I'd definitely go back!6/8/2013 12:00:00 AMAn Amazing DinnerTruly cannot say enough positive things about this dining experience. From the service to the ambiance to the food this was one of the best meals I have ever had. Will certainly be recommending your restaurant to anyone looking for an incredible meal.6/7/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat food--tasting menuThe food was well prepared and the star of each course was the title character. Everything was subtly sauced and spiced. We will return6/7/2013 12:00:00 AMFantastic food, interestingFantastic food, interesting (if tending toward the expensive) wine list, pleasant service, nice surroundings. We had a wonderful dinner with friends. Neigborhood isn't great -- this restaurant is part of bringing it along, I suppose -- but that's OK. Definitely worth finding this place.6/6/2013 12:00:00 AMCorduroy never disappointsWe forget how much we love Corduroy each time we come back, and need to remember to return more often. This was a special birthday dinner for a very dear friend and everything was top-notch. We took the Chef's Sampler and enjoyed it all. The Chef even made a slight modification when one in our party did not do meat. So accommodating. We need to make Corduroy a more regular spot-and especially taking in the 3 Course for $30 every week nite in the Bar, upstairs.6/6/2013 12:00:00 AMWonderful meal!I took my boyfriend to Corduroy for his birthday, and it was our first time going. We had an awesome time. Both of us did the surprise 5-course tasting menu and it was well worth it. The courses are pared down (except for dessert), but it's the perfect proportion of food. I left feeling very satisfied and not overly full. The tuna tar tare was probably the best I had ever had. The chicken we had was cooked perfectly. I had a delicious dessert with dark chocolate ganache. I had a lemongrass cocktail and a pineapple lime rickey cocktail. Both were excellent and I'd recommend them to anyone who enjoys cocktails.
The service was also friendly and helpful.6/1/2013 12:00:00 AMFabulous foodWe did the tasting menu and paired it with the wine pairing and everything was delicious. Can't believe it took us this long to find and try this place and we'll definitely be back. Server was charming and knowledgeable and we had a great table next to the large windows.5/25/2013 12:00:00 AMBest Birthday Dinner EverWe went for my son's birthday and the four of us had the tasting dinner and it was superb. The flavors, sauces and service were first class. We highly recommend it for a special night out.5/25/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent food, service, worth $$$Everything we had was phenomenal, from the scallops appetizer special to the guinee hen entree and baby chicken entree special. My fiance and I were blown away by the flavor and deliciousness. Chicken and hen were juicy, cooked well, skin crisp, sauce was phenomenal. Then for dessert, we usually share one dessert when we dine out. But this time we made an exception. We ordered two! No regrets! We ordered their chocolate lava cake (wait is 15 mins or so) and their apple tart. We waited over 15 minutes but the dessert wait was worth it. Lava cake was heaven. Apple tart is like an upside down tart, warm crisp sugary good. Both were a la mode with their homemade ice cream, pstacio nut and chocolate bourbon. :) We are going back here again.5/25/2013 12:00:00 AMLovely food, perfect service.Lovely food, perfect service. An exceptional evening.5/24/2013 12:00:00 AMsomething differentAfter a week eating traditional us food, this restaurant was a very welcomed change5/24/2013 12:00:00 AMlove corduroyhave been there a number of times, and it is always high quality. from the food to the service, the ambiance, etc... very friendly, smooth and delicious. for the quality it's well worth the price.5/24/2013 12:00:00 AMClose to perfectMy visit to Corduroy was as close to perfect as I think a restaurant can be. II was here 1 year ago and recognized many of the same people on the wait staff. We chose the tasting menu. The food and presentation was outstanding. I even ate the antelope loin and sausage, something I would never have ordered off the menu. Every dish was great, with the crab and pasta and scallops with vegetables memorable. Portions were small. The only disappointment was a manhattan I ordered at the bar. Way too much vermouth. Other than that it was a perfect eventing. We were at our table for over three hours and never felt rushed. Service was friendly and personal. I felt like a valued client, even though I'm not a regular.5/23/2013 12:00:00 AMPHENOMENAL!!This is the fourth time I have dined at Corduroy. What an experience!! The food is stellar and the quality has remained exceptional. Your palate will never be treated better. Joe, our server, was very helpful and very knowledgeable about the wine. The entire restaurant (though located in a rather humble city block) is well-arranged and well thought out, with the staff so accommodating. It was such a pleasure to REALLY be in the presence of an exceptional chef and an adoring wait staff. I would recommend Corduroy highly.5/22/2013 12:00:00 AMOne of the best meals ever. One of the best meals ever. It's too bad the geographical location is so bad.5/22/2013 12:00:00 AMPerfectionCorduroy is the perfect restaurant for a special occasion. The food is wonderful, as is the ambiance. The servers are highly informed and helpful with suggestions (such as the right ) when asked.5/21/2013 12:00:00 AMTasting Menu at CorduroyThree of us went to Corduroy for the tasting menu on a quiet Monday night. The 5 course tasting menu is a great deal at $65, especially since it is actually 6 courses. The wine pairings, at $55 per person, sound steep, but the wines are WELL worth it. The menu began with a cool soup, then tuna tartar with greens, grilled salmon, roasted capon, and antelope two ways with a chestnut mash. After that...dessert. Instead of bringing three of the same desserts, the chef sent out three different deserts for us to share. His take on pistachio bread pudding was amazing. There was something slightly asian about the soup, but a French twist with the use of rich sauces and careful balances of protiens and veg. Amazing food, and a well constructed menu.5/20/2013 12:00:00 AMServiceWe ordered a fairly expensive bottle of Chassagne Montrachet that was not bad but not what it should have been. We had the sommelier taste it and he agreed that it was not bad...just not right. He replaced the bottle with another wine and the situation was handled in a professional and unexpected satisfactory manner- a rarity these days!5/14/2013 12:00:00 AMThis restaurant cares aboutThis restaurant cares about everything! The whole experience was perfect.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMGraduation CelebrationI came here to celebrate the end of my graduate program with my boyfriend. Everything was perfect about the dinner. Our waiter was amazing and the food was delicious. We had the 5 course tasting menu and every dish was surprising and exttemely good. The overall experience was really perfect.5/9/2013 12:00:00 AMGem near the Convention CenterThe food and service were excellent. Extensive wine list . Corkage fee seemed extravagant - one bottle per table for $45.5/6/2013 12:00:00 AMOutstanding near the convention ctrCorduroy is very near the DC convention center (easy walk) and has a rather eclectic menu. Each item was excellent and the server made great recommendations. He also asked what types of beer, wine and liquor we liked so that he could "give us something similar" if needed.5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent experienceThis was a great dining experience. The food was superb (try the Red Snapper Bisque!!!). Our server was very knowledgeable of everything we ate and his suggestions were right on the spot. It was a plus that he was a foody! The ambiance was good, although the mini-booths by the walls are not very comfortable -watch out if you're claustrophobic-. Other than that, my wife and I both enjoyed our visit to Corduroy. We will definitely be back.4/26/2013 12:00:00 AMPerfect for intimate conversationTasting menu was creative, interesting, and absolutely delicious while being quite reasonable. The wine list was extensive and also not overpriced. We had a great time and would highly recommend it!4/22/2013 12:00:00 AMI've been to Corduroy multipleI've been to Corduroy multiple times, and it never fails to please me. only once have i gone there, about three years ago, when the restaurant was not in top form (it was a large party, and i think it overwhelmed them). food is consistently well done (scallops, steak, guinea hen, antelope, fish, braised ribs). appetizers are varied and quite excellent, especially some of the specials. The wine list is extensive, though but could use a few more moderately priced wines and some culling. The wine list is basically overpriced, and I'm not sure why. Service is very attentive and efficient, though this last time, it took a bit long to bring the first course. But, in general, Corduroy is a highly dependable and consistently excellent eatery4/19/2013 12:00:00 AMSuperb tasting menu. GreatSuperb tasting menu. Great service. Creative cuisine.4/18/2013 12:00:00 AMOur best meal in a week ofOur best meal in a week of eating while visiting Washington. Very elegant, sophisticated, but not stuffy and there were several tables with very well-behaved children. The food was imaginative and different than the usual choices in other places. The staff was exceptional and really knew the food and wine. I got talked into eating antelope (never thought I was that adventurous) and it was fabulous. Can't wait to go back.4/18/2013 12:00:00 AMAmazing food. The round eyeAmazing food. The round eye tuna is the best meal I have had at any restaurant ever.4/17/2013 12:00:00 AMVery good, not greatLimited menu and somewhat indifferent service prevents the 5 stars.4/16/2013 12:00:00 AMWe always look forward toWe always look forward to our evening at Corduroy on our annual trip to DC. Table 24 is a quiet, intimate spot in the corner. The food never dissapoints and the service is excellent; attentive and not intrusive.
The appetizer special of scallops was served with an oyster on the half shell. The champagne sauce complimented the sweet and fresh scallops. Crispy Striped Bass with Braised Bok Choy and Daikon was great. The skin on the bass was perfectly crisp without drying out the fish. Excellent sauce here, too. Delicious meal.4/15/2013 12:00:00 AMEnjoy the pleasures of fine diningFine,Fine food. Tom Power must be the finest Chef around. The Chef Sampler was had by 4 in our party and got only rave comments. Don't hesitate, just make reservations4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMWe always like this place. We always like this place. Food is great. Our waiter, Mark, makes the evening even better. We recommend the chef choice and the wine tasting. The ;tuna tartare is always outstanding and we have never been disappointed with any of our courses.4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMOutstanding!A very good find in DC. I almost don't want to tell people about it because it might be harder to get a reservation next time. Food is beautifully prepared and flavors are so clean and defined. The word precise comes to mind but really creative. Service is A+. Overall an outstanding restaurant. Will definitely go back next time I'm in DC.4/12/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellently prepared food,Excellently prepared food, imaginatively created and presented, with great attention to quality of ingredients. Very attentive service. They go to great lengths to make you happy. The restaurant would have been the quietest we have been to in Washington, but there was a party of 10 that were overly vocal. The decor was simple, but elegant. This was an intimate restaurant, and rather expensive, but it was the best we've had in a long time.4/9/2013 12:00:00 AMWe tried the chefs tastingWe tried the chefs tasting menu. We recommend it highly.4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMTry CorduroyCorduroy made the top 100 on the Washingtonian's best restaurant list for 2013 and deserved it! My husband and I had one of our best dinners in a long time. Try the seared tuna - fantastic.4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMOur first night in WashingtonOur first night in Washington DC, we dined here and it was a great way to start our vacation! We did the 5 course-tasting menu and considering the quality and the quantity of the food we got, the price was well worth it ($65)!. Interesting combinations of flavors many using Asian ingredients and great quality food. I loved the fact that the waiter would tell us where the food came from. A lot of local foods were used in each of the dishes. This will definitely be a restaurant to come back when we return to DC.4/5/2013 12:00:00 AMvery good food and service.very good food and service. would definitely go back next time we're in DC.4/3/2013 12:00:00 AMNice alternative to the soullessNice alternative to the soulless downtown restaurants!4/2/2013 12:00:00 AMCould not ask for a betterCould not ask for a better dining experience. Gracious, knowledgable staff, inventive wonderful cuisine, excellent wine list with great values. The lobster carpaccio is fabulous as are the seared scallops and grits. Wagyu steak so delicious and all served by extremely professional yet friendly waitstaff. Highly recommend.3/30/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat dining in DCGreat restaurant in DC with special attention made to quality of food & service. The tasting menu is a spectacular value at $65 per person. You need to order it for the entire table. Even if some diners aren't "adventurous," the menu isn't too extravagant. We had burdock root puree, tuna tartar, scallops, guinea hen, wagyu steak, and dessert. The servers are attentive and knowledgeable. Overall, a great dining experience.3/29/2013 12:00:00 AMWe'll be back!Best meal we've had in Washington in all our visits!3/25/2013 12:00:00 AMWonderful ExperienceWe had an amazing dinner experience here. All the food we had was well prepared and very flavorful. We had the chowder, red snapper bisque, arugula salad that had these fantastic watermelon radishes, the rockfish and antelope entrees. Our server, Mark, who also doubles as the sommelier, was incredibly gracious and perfect in every way. It was a quiet, rainy Monday night, so I can't speak to what noise is like when the place is full. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for an elegant experience. It's a true treat.3/25/2013 12:00:00 AMThis was my first time atThis was my first time at Corduroy and I must say that the food was great.
