Diner Reviews
  • "We stopped over in Seattle on our way home to San Francisco from Europe. The Cedarbrook Lodge was our airport hotel choice. We arrived tired and went to the restaurant for a drink and light dinner. It was excellent, an easy five stars. The host and server were exceptional."

  • "Great ambiance/setting. Overall, the food was disappointing. Foie gras was very good. Salmon was OK. Ling cod was terrible,. and a very mushy consistency. Fish and chips were terrible as well - both the fish and frys were soggy and tepid. Didn't bother to order dessert."

  • "Copperleaf at the Cedarbrook Lodge was an outside find near SEA-Tac. The chef was very creative mix and matching unique flavors. I had the Halibut. It was very fresh and medium rare. The pineapple upside cake was excellent also. We will be back on our next visit."

  • "Copperleaf Restaurant is one of the very few top notch restaurants in the South End of Seattle. The food, the presentation is that of a very high end restaurant and it is clear that the back of the house has it dialed in. Unfortunately, the front of the house is not up to the same level. Our waiter, with a fairly heavy accent was more interested in moving us in...getting our order and getting us out. Mind you we had 5:30pm reservations and while we were there, the restaurant was never more than 1/4 full. There were further items with dessert, but I was done with this waiter - if the Copperleaf wasn't a higher end restaurant, I wouldn't expect a certain level service...but they are, and I do. This guy wasn't up to the task...."

  • "We arranged our visit for a special occasion, our anniversary and we were welcomed with a glass of campaign. That was a nice welcome and surprise. Our waiter was quite knowledgeable and helpful. The food was artfully prepared and presented. All in all, it was a very memorable visit that we would repeat and recommend."

  • "So disappointed, main reason for choosing the Copperleaf was for a summer time outdoor experience and we were told there was nothing available. Hmmmm only 2 other couples dining out side and 3 inside!?!? We were sat at a dinky little table by the water serving bar... So many other great tables open that we could of been sat at. We went around 8:45pm so it wasn't like they were reserved. Felt like the staff rushed used. Food was good, smaller portions then I would of like for the price but overall good flavor."

  • "The most outstanding meal we have had in years. We live in Gig Harbor, and were looking for a restaurant near Sea-Tac at which to meet a friend for dinner. Service was attentive, cordial, helpful, explanatory. Food was presented beautifully and ingredients were intelligently combined. Delightful evening."

  • "This was my third time dining at Copperleaf, and it was my first summer visit. We were able to sit on the outside patio. Service was excellent. There was a dull hum of traffic, but not enough to challenge conversation. Two of us had halibut cooked to just the right point of doneness. One had foie gras, and the fourth soft-shell crab. All were excellent. The standout of the night was the white peach sorbet."

  • "The Cedarbrook Lodge has got us hooked. Having the sumptuous Cooperleaf Restaurant in our favorite hotel is icing on the cake. Meals are sumptuous - and the green onion soup is to die for. Wait staff are top notch, know what they're serving you and make the dining experience even more enjoyable by explaining things as they deliver your plate. Presentation is the best we ever seen ANYWHERE (and we've traveled the world) - and the amuse bouche add a very special little touch. And, it's a standout restaurant that, since they make everything fresh and to order, was not only able to offer my wife almost everything on the menu gluten free, but even when they came with our bread, had special G.F. bread rolls hot out of the oven for her."

  • "I enjoyed our meal here and the atmosphere was quiet and calm, which I personally like. I wouldn't write home about it, but it was nice. Pros - Quiet: you can actually hear conversations and it's much more calming after a long week than a bustling place. Unique food: if you like unique menu items, you'll enjoy interesting flavor combinations Reasonably priced: the portions are on the smaller side, but the prices are about where they should be Cons - Preparation: Preparation was so-so, a little overcooked and over-garnished. I did not like wilted celery served on top of the seared foie gras. Wine List: Limited selection of wines and the servers were not very knowledgeable about the wines. Would go here for a casual dinner again."

  • "We first dined here more than a year ago and were blown away. This time decided to stay at the Inn before an early morning flight, too. Curiously, we were seated at a table next to another occupied table, although there were clearly others available. Unfortunately, outside seating was full - it was a beautiful evening. We ordered the tasting menu - with wines. The overall experience was very good - at times exceptional. The standout was the spring onion soup paired with a blanc de blanc. The soup was creamy and wonderfully subtle. A perfect start."

  • "Dined at this restaurant with three lady friends and it was a most wonderful experience. The service was incredible. The food was delicious and presented beautifully. Our waiter, Ben, was very attentive. The location of the restaurant is an out of the way place not far from Sea-Tac Airport. It is worth finding and having a nice quiet lunch or dinner. Can't wait to go back."

  • "Truly the finest restaurant in the SeaTac neighborhood, and certainly one of the best in the greater Puget Sound area. We tried the tasting menu with the wine pairings and were very impressed with the quality of the food and appropriateness of the pairings. We will be back at our earliest opportunity."

  • "This is not in any way the typical "conference center" restaurant! We chose the chef's tasting menu and it was fabulous. The dishes were inventive and unusual but not "strange." Flavor combinations were delicious and the wine choices were perfect for each course. The service was fantastic and the pacing was perfect."

  • "Everything I ate and drank at copperleaf was bursting with flavor! Great job chef, and wait staff did a great job with explaining what our taste buds were going to experience."

  • "As conference centers go, restaurants are typically horrible, but this is a pleasant exception that reflects a positive overall experience at Cedarbrook Lodge, a former corporate center for Washington Mutual before they went belly up. Nicely written menu with several interesting choices. Had a great lunch. Appreciated the subtle touches like sugar syrup on the side for the ice tea. Farm to table concept works and the flavors of the porchetta sandwich were good, fries were a bit limp, but well seasoned. White peach sorbet was excellent."

  • "very fine food, modest portions so you enjoy the food rather than feeling stuffed. I took a friend from New York City and she was very impressed to find a place like this in SeaTac. I love the atmosphere, although some might find it a little to open Noise level is low, chairs super comfy"

  • "What a terrific find. This restaurant rivals the Salish Lodge for quality and uniqueness of food offerings. The wait staff were courteous, knowledgeable, professional, unobtrusive...perfect. Surprising ambiance for the SeaTac location. Sitting outside dining, listening to the stream burble and viewing the beautiful grounds, you would never know you were just minutes from the airport. Will definitely return."

  • "This was the best restaurant that we have eaten at in years. The flavor profiles are amazing. This is an experience not to be missed. It is a Farm to Table paradise. Don't let the airport location fool you."

  • "We came to celebrate my husband's birthday and had the wonderful 5 course tasting menu! Loved each menu item, but the onion soup, lamb and maple banana dessert were the ones that stood out in my mind! We will be returning for sure! "

  • "I wish I'd taken photos of the plates set before us - appetizers, entree and dessert presentations so beautiful it seemed a shame to take a bite. But don't hesitate: From the first bite to the last, exquisite flavor explodes and caresses your palate. Our server was knowledgeable, attentive and engaging. Unique menu (My fist time tasting pickled ramps), excellent wine selection, hidden away in a park-like setting surprisingly close to Sea-Tac Airport. Definitely a hidden gem!"

  • "My sons and I spent our last night of a Pacific Northwest vacation at the wonderful Cedarbrook Lodge as we had a morning flight out of SEA-TAC. Fortunately we had a reservation at Copperleaf and were looking forward to the experience after reading such positive reviews. We were all blown away by the beauty and attention to detail of the decor. The food was just impeccable and presentation so creative! What a fantastic way to celebrate the end of a great trip!"

  • "The plates are works of art you almost hate to eat. Almost.... the flavors were great, with pairings you might not think about. The tuna sashimi with fava beans and grapefruit made a great starter, followed by halibut, seared well. My husband had the steak, a bit pricey at $48 but he said it was good. Definitely get their reserve wine - JM Cellars! No label at all on the bottle, just a super delicious 2008 vintage and priced right! "

  • "It is hard to rate this restaurant. Some things were exceptional, others surprisingly poor. The ambiance was very good as is the restaurants setting. Of the food we ordered, I give these ratings: Soft shell crab appetizer 10, pasta appetizer 9, Halibut entree 7/8, lamb entree can't rate because we sent it back twice and finally gave up on it. If I were to return, I'd stick with a couple of small plates. Those which we had were excellent. The halibut entree was very good, but no better than I've had in many other places and not as good as in many others. It was good, properly cooked, but nothing special. The other entree, the lamb, was not as ordered, and returned uneaten, so no rating. Unfortunate end to a great start."

  • "For a hotel restaurant near an airport this place is amazing: the food, its presentation and atmosphere all merit 5 stars. I know of no place like it near any airport in the world."

  • "The menu choices are an example of trying too hard to be different. If you're into wacky combinations and you're on expense account, and your boss doesn't look too closely, go for it. But I'd recommend a Big Mac ahead of time to avoid leaving hungry. "

  • "This is a highlight of the south end. What a great place to have a meal before getting on a flight at SeaTac. We will start our vacations here from now on! Food was prepared very well. Service was perfect. We will be back."

  • "We love the hotel and wanted a special last night of vacation dinner-so we reserved at Copperleaf. I had the wild boar and it was delicious. My husband enjoyed the spare rib. The best part of our fine dining experience was how they treated my kids. They had a great "young adult" menu with very parent friendly prices. Better than expected. Their food was of good portion and just as high of standard as the adult food. They even had kid desserts. It made our meal even better that we could all enjoy high end food together. The desserts were tasty and the overall experience was worth it. Kudos."

  • "The lobster bisque was good, but not excellent. I had the duck, as a main. The confit portion was good, the breast was very bloody, which was ok, but incredibly tough. I could barely cut it with the knife I was given, and had to chew FOREVER. The skin was also salted beyond reason. Add to that the bread buttered with their signature salty butter (which I love), and I puffed up like a dehydrated balloon just before my flight. They threw in a tasty little amuse bouche and a gnocchi kale course which was heavy, but surprisingly bland, making it a strange meal all together. This has always been one of my favorite restaurants, but I'll think before hurrying back."

  • "This was my 3rd great meal in recent months at this fabulous restaurant 5 minutes from SeaTac that is inside a great little hotel. A welcome change from airport hotel fare. Truly top notch creative food and wine list."

  • "You would never know you were by the airport. This property has created an ambience that brings you to a wooded retreat with Japanese gardens, No need to drive to Seattle to experience a five star meal."

  • "The tasting menu with wine pairings was outstanding! Particularly good were the apple "salad" the scallop and the Meyer lemon dessert. The shirt rib was fine, but not the taste treat of every other course. The wine pairings were outstanding! It was nice to see the range of Washington and Oregon wineries represented! I would have preferred a table near the window. We were seated near the bar and the crowd was rowdy for a bit. It was much better after they left. I'm not a fan of the large chairs which make private conversation difficult. Overall, though, this is now one of our new favorite restaurants, particularly when returning home from a business trip! While only 5 minutes from SeaTac, it seems a million miles away!"
