It was a blustery night in downtown Mpls and we found Copper Pot through yelp - and a "find" it was! Great, interesting, and authentic Indian food, served with charm, in a warm spot next to the Lumber Exchange, a wonderful, historic architectural gem.

The restaurant is pretty much par for the course in everything. The food is great. The mojitoes we had were delicious and huge. But the service is just a little... off. It's the little things. I would be holding my date's hand and the waiter would walk up and say 'Sorry' awkwardly. Or we'd say we need another minute to look at the menu and they wouldn't come back even with menus closed and eyes wandering. It wasn't a busy night. It was almost like they wanted to be flagged down. And when we asked for food suggestions, the response was pretty flat, non-descriptive, etc. But it wasn't stupendously failing, it was just a C+ attitude. All-in-all, I would most certainly suggest it. The waiters were certainly polite, and the food was delightful.

We had a party of 8 trying the restaurant for the first time, all who have eaten a lot of Indian. Everyone ordered a different dish so we could get a nice flavor for the place. The selection of dishes was excellent. The service was good for an Indian restaurant (where they are sometimes slow). The lamb saag was some of the best I'd ever had. We had another lamb dish in a creameir sauce that was also top notch. The chicken Korma was flavorful and had a nice bite too it. The vindaloo was nice and hot. I'd say the Tikka Masala was just average. We were very pleased with the dining experience. Anyone who takes in the Indian restaurant scene in Minneapolis needs to give this place a try

The food was great, the staff was friendly, and we enjoyed the restaurant overall. However, the service was extremely slow. We were one of the first tables for dinner, and the staff seemed overwhelmed with just a few tables being seated. We will go again though, just to make sure we were not on an off night.

With all the trendy spots full up on a Saturday night, I resorted to reservations for eight at the Copper Pot. I was anxious about the pick because I take pride in finding great restaurants for a group of friends. I ended up looking like a brilliant foodie sleuth by the end of the meal. For our group of eight the food and service were excellent. Would definitely recommend to others.

Went to this restaurant on a special occasion with 3 year old kid, it took one hour for food to be delivered to the table, no salt or pepper on the table and the food did not have any salt on it and no server available to request one, owner was nice to make sure to check with every table if they need anything and the buck stops there we did not understand that he was doing that just for formality, if you had asked for something you never receive it, we understood it the second time when he was doing the same activity checking if anyone needs anything.

We were celebrating a birthday and requested a "special table" at the Copper Pot. There were a couple of empty tables that looked nice, but we were told they were reserved (I thought that reserving tables on Open Table was also called "reserving" them), so we had to sit somewhere less desirable. No one was seated at either of those more desirable tables all night long! The food is great -- and nicely spiced. No question that if you're into Indian food, this is a great spot. But the ambiance leaves something to be desired. There were several babies and young children, making lots of noise. Screaming kids at McDonald's is fine, not at 8:30 p.m. at nice restaurant in downtown Mpls. I know it's not the restaurant's fault, however.

First visit to Copper Pot and our impression was very favorable. After a glass of wine, wife and I shared appetizers of toasted naan and Manchurian cauliflower, both of which were served warm, crisp, and very flavorful. Entrees included a Biryani style duck creation (similar to paella) and a lamb dish prepared with spinach in a brown onion sauce, both accompanied by basmati rice. Each of the choices was deliciously tasty with generous portions. For dessert, we tried a fried cheese roll bathed in honey; something different which turned out to be wonderful. Service was attentive, friendly, and helpful in assisting us with our selections. Would definitely go back to try several other tempting menu items.

I have to admit I procrastinated when it came to trying this place, as I typically do for ethnic restaurants. I finally tried Copper Pot a few days ago and it was exceptional on all points. The food quality was fit for food snobs and presentation was appealing. Service was excellent and restaurant was impeccably clean. I only wish I tried Copper Pot long ago. I'll definitely be back.

This was our second visit to Copper Pot. As before the food was very good but on this visit the service was terrible. Even though for the first 30 min we were the only people there our waiter was virtually awol. It took forever to get our check, longer to get it processed and we had to ask 3 times for the leftovers he took to have boxed up. I don't know if we will give them a third chance or not. Perhaps the buffet for lunch sometime.

All the items were presented in a nice way and the plates were picked up and new plates were served quickly. It was quite and nice being a week day. The ambience is not great or high end but overall we enjoyed everything. I would recommened Copper Pot and will visit again in near future.

Although there weren't very many customers dining that evening and we arrived to the reservation early, they still weren't preparred for our group. New to Indian food, I as well as my party, were excited to try new flavors and spices. This event was suppose to be a celebration for my birthday and I, along with many other individuals in my party would have spent more time and money had our service been more attentive. Throughout the dining experience, we were only attended to when WE flagged the wait staff! On a positive note,I was pleased with the food selections and presentation of the dishes but after the service received, I will not be suggesting or dining with Copperpot again.

I travel to Minneapolis frequently and had my wife join me on a recent trip. We had dinner at the Copper Pot on Saturday, and liked it so much that we canceled another reservation for Sunday and went back again. The lamb shank was prepared perfectly, and the other dishes we had were also delicious. Our server was attentive and could not have been more pleasant. Finally, the price was excellent as well.

Excellent Indian cuisine, with some unique ingredient combinations not found at other local Indian restaurants. Saag Paneer, Navarathan Korma and Fish Tikka were all delicious! For ambiance, it would be a bit nicer without the large-screen TV over the bar, so ask for a table without a view of the TV if you prefer your meals without that distraction.

The food is fantastic. My only issue is there is no host stand so we were not sure if we should seat ourselves or wait. We stood near the front door for a minute or two, then went to the bar to ask about seating. We were told we could sit anywhere. Perhaps a sign indicating that would help. Otherwise, no complaints at all. The service is very friendly and knowledgeable. We will be back.

We went to the Copper pot for dinner before a show on a Wed. night. It looked nice, warm, cozy booths. Our appetizer was the PODI IDLI and it was okay. The entrees NAVARATHAN KORMA and LAMB VINDALOO (very spicy) were great. The waitress/bartender was a little eccentric and also seemed inexperienced. But there was additional staff that checked on us too. As other reviews suggest the service is not speedy but our food came out quickly once we could order but if you can handle that it was very good overall.

Excellent goat curry! Amazing depth of flavor! The meat was very tender! I had a mixed drink and unfortunately the description sounded better than it tasted. Only down side was the bones in the lamb curry and the very small table we were seated at- despite there being plenty of good sized tables open. We seemed to be at the only tiny table in the place. But- I would go back because of the curry!

The food here is probably truly amazing. Unfortunately they don't know how to run a restaurant. The service was so bad is was baffling. The only way they could save this place is by making it to-go only and letting people eat at the tables. It took 15 minutes to get a menu and at the exact same time it was brought to us the waiter came to take our order. We knew he wouldn't be back for at least 30 minutes (we saw TWO tables get up and leave due to lack of service in that 15 minute period) so we ordered that minute. Drinks orders were never taken. The food was great, and we would have ordered more, but they wouldn't let us. Too bad!

I can't review the food...I never got past the horrible service. We had reservations on a Saturday night. We were seated, and our drink menu arrived about 10 minutes afterwards. they came to get our drink order 20 minutes after arrival. And then we had to get our own food menus. We sat for 45 minutes after we were seated, and decided to leave because no one had even gotten our order. Horrible service, running a skeleton crew. this restaurant needs better service, otherwise, it is unlikely to last.
