  • "Third visit here; 1st was great, second was ok. We made reservations through OpenTable, and when we approached the hosting stand we were informed that we were going to be sitting outside. We did not request to sit outside, and frankly, didn't want to because it was nearly 90 degrees. We were told that if we chose to not take the outside table, that we would probably NOT EVEN GET IN TO EAT, and it was because we made our reservations through OpenTable. "You should have just called us directly and then you'd have been sat inside." We sat outside to avoid upsetting our friends, and the food was really only so-so, so this pretty much cinches it - we won't be returning to CopperFish."

  • "They were clearly having issues with their electricity. It was incredibly hot and the bar was slow. All would have been ok if the server would have hustled and apologized. Instead it seemed like an excise to be lazy."

  • "We had a lovely waitress (blond hair with an accent). A little busy/crowded at outside high-top tables, so she moved us to a cozy outside booth. Lovely! The musician was excellent. The only complaint that ALL three of us had about the fish and chips was that is should NOT be put into a creamy sauce at the bottom of the plate!! Strongly suggest putting that on the side. We didn't like that. Overall it was a great night. Thanks!"

  • "Everything was good, just nothing was good enough to make me want to eat here again. For the price, there are many better restaurants.The salad would have been better if it wasn't way over dressed. The snapper was decent, but not any better than I could make at home, and I am not that good of a cook. The dessert, creme brulee, had a weird texture and was too sweet. The service was ok."

  • "Ambiance was very nice. The music was overbearing and we couldn't hear the person across the table. The shrimp ceviche tasted fishy without a good shrimp flavor. The smoked fish spread was good although they only gave you a few crackers for a mound of spread. Our server did bring more. Our drink orders were the biggest disappointment. It took about 25 minutes each time to receive our drinks. Most of the diners was having a glass of wine so it didn't appear the bar was backed up. The fish and chips were bland. No flavor whatsoever and not a hint of a beer taste in the batter. The salmon dish was very good. I like to give a restaurant a second chance but overall this was such a disappointment that I'm not sure I want to waste my money."

  • "I love their food so we thought we would try brunch there. Brunch wasn't anywhere near as good as dinner. It was an overpriced buffet with very few options. It left us totally underwhelmed. We will definitely go back for dinner but won't do brunch again."

  • "Ordered the seafood plateau special and not only was there no lobster, this wasn't communicated to me until the dish arrived. The oysters were a joke, one of five were bad and two of five were butchered and so tiny I wouldn't even call them oysters. I have been here before and loved it however this meal will unfortunately cost them a customer. They made an adjustment on my bill for he lack of lobster but unfortunately never asked how meal was even when I didn't finish half of it, so I decided not to share my thoughts."

  • "We arrived in time for happy hour which meant $5.00 grilled oysters in the bar (along with other $5 light food options) The oysters were so outstanding, we considered placing another order. We then moved into the dining room and were seated at a comfortable, cozy booth with a large picture window overlooking Howard Avenue. Our server was great. Our food was great ( fish & chips and grouper ). The atmosphere was great, well lit and lively, but not loud. Request a booth when you make your reservation."

  • "Food cannot be missed and the service was very good in this busy restaurant, but call ahead even if you make a reservation on Open Table. They have allotted some not-so-good tables for OT patrons and unless you want to sit outside in the setting sun on a blistering Tampa evening, call them to say that you want inside. All in all, however, the food is enough to come back for and the service was exceptional."

  • "My dad and I went for dinner. We had the wall salad and the dressing was fabulous. I had the 'shrimp stuffed flounder.' This is where I felt iffy. It was recommended and it was suppose to have a scallop and shrimp stuffing and a creamy sauce. When it came out turns out the chef made it with salmon and shrimp inside with more of a soy based sauce. It was a little dry but actually tasty and would have liked more sauce. It was good but I wasn't blown away. We had the spinach too which was good. I'd like to try one of their cocktails some time and I want to try the seafood pasta."

  • "Don't remember his name, but I hope he will remember us. We got there late on a Sunday night. Restaurant was ready to close but they made us feel very welcomed. The food was outstanding!!! And the conversation with our server superb. We spend the night at Tampa just to do a tour to USF for my son and we went here for dinner. I recommend this place 100%. Won't be disappointed."

  • "The wine list has good choices by the glass, and more by the bottle. The crab-stuffed lobster was expensive, but excellent and was a larger portion than we expected. I created by own entre by combining the dozen grilled oysters appetizer with a side of Forbidden black rice. Both were delicious, although I got only 11 oysters. The goat cheese cake was amazing, and the creme brule was very good. The included candles, because we were both celebrating birthdays. The server was very attentive. The kitchen went out of their way to take the lobster out of its shell for my elderly father, who has a hard time doing that due to health issues."

  • "We just loved the feel of Copper Fish. It's quiet and quaint on a weeknight. Just the right atmosphere for winding down a Monday! The food is excellent, service efficient and warm. Our only complaint would be the booth type seating was a bit uncomfortable for anyone under 6 foot tall. The seats sink in when you sit, leaving a bar hitting the back of the legs - not very comfortable, even with the lovely pillows provided for behind the back. We'll be back - maybe next time we'll sit on the patio."

  • "Manager hopping around with anxiety when we first arrived. Reservation - Kelly. "Oh, we don't have you." Really, Kelly? "Oh, here it is." Slow service (she blamed the kitchen), and poor follow-up. Apparently a table of 2 people do not need attention, but at table of 6 can have all they want. Hope they tipped well. She never came back for our bill, so had to leave cash. Noisy room, average food. Bathroom floor (women) was "sticky and wet." Yes, it's a special day, but the staff/management knew it ahead of time, and obviously did not prepare for it. Only conclusion is this place does not care. We won't be back."

  • "We have been to Copperfish numerous times for dinner and truly enjoyed it. Fathers Day Brunch was a disaster. Food took forever and when it finally came out it was cold and gross. The waitress did her best, but she was as frustrated as we were. The manager came over and apologized. took care of our check. He said they were under prepared for the amount of people which is odd as they called to confirm that morning and obviously had a reservation list. We will go back, but never for brunch."

  • "Normally a good experience, but on Fathers Day it was a fiasco. Grilled oyster appetizers were almost raw, took 1 1/2 hours to get our order and it was cold and incomplete. It was served in pieces. Manager was great and compted the meal, but customers should have been informed of the electrical and kitchen issues prior to ordering so they knew what to expect. I think it would have spoken better for the restaurant. It was not the Fathers Day gift I was expecting for my guests. We will probably come again for an evening meal which we have always enjoyed."

  • "It was good but for the ambiance and price it should have been better. I will say the oysters in garlic are fantastic, so it was a promising start but didn't finish. Our fish dishes we average to below average in flavor. There are plenty of other restaurants to try in the area before we give them a shot again. Very small wine list too, especially for a place like this."

  • "Went twice while in Tampa for business. The food was excellent both times but the Black Grouper with white truffle grits..to die for! Goat cheese cheesecake to finish! Bar area was a little loud for me so next time, I will wait for seating in the fabulously decorated dining room!"

  • "I've had good experiences in the past at Copperfish, but always arrived for an early dinner (before 6:30) or on a weeknight. We visited with another couple and made a reservation for Saturday at 8 pm. The place was busy and the service and food really suffered. While the calamari appetizer and my tomato salad were delicious, my grouper was overcooked and dry. We ordered drinks that took 20 minutes to arrive. Also portion size seems to have changed: The portions were so small, my husband had to make a snack when we got home! I might try again on a weeknight, but I would not go back on a busy Saturday. They are obviously not staffed to handle a good crowd."

  • "Was planning a nice romantic dinner but the table reservation was for outside on Howard (90 degrees and loud). They claim since we reserved thru Open Table and we should have called. Only option was to sit in the bar area which was so loud we could not hear each other. Was just looking for a nice night out. Food is great as always. Moral of the story, call and confirm you have a table inside the dining area (if that is what you want). "

  • "This restaurant specializes in fresh fish, grilled well. What I really liked about it was its central location in SoHo and that it was quiet. I could actually carry on a dinner conversation with my dinner guest. The wall of salad was a house specialty, grown on site and with the freshest spring vegetables. Overall, a very pleasant restaurant with exceptional fish dishes. "
