  • "Our second time here and had raved about it so much that we brought friends who never go into S. Tampa for food. Server was great at first, very friendly and chatty. Gaps in between seeing him were substantial, and we waited a long time to receive the first round of drinks and apps. Wine glasses sat empty for 15 minutes at one point, and salads took even longer to receive. Guessing the dinner orders weren't even put in until we finished the salads. We were pretty upset and embarrassed by the time the food showed up, but the food was once again very good. Reservations were at 9p and we received our entrees at 11:00p. As an aside, servers probably shouldn't tell people they'll cover the cost of an appetizer and then not honor that."

  • "I have been to Copper Fish on several occasions and found it uninspiring and quite simply mediocre. I wanted it to be good because it's very close to my house and such a neat location. The last couple of times I have been there the food was absolutely outstanding. I asked my server if there were any changes and she remarked they had gotten a new chef. What a difference. If you tried it before and we're disappointed, go back and try it again. It is an all new experience."

  • "I have been to this restaurant many times. I made this reservation as usual, received a confirmation, and thought it would be another nice meal. Instead I got a call from the restaurant the morning of my reservation saying that they had seated me in the bar as they had a "buy out". I called and told them I did not want to be seated in the bar as this was not what I had reserved. When I arrived I was shoved to the side in the bar as someone had bought the entire restaurant. Obviously after I made my reservation. As I told them in an email(to which I have gotten no reply), I've eaten in dozens of places all over the country over the past 30 years of traveling and have NEVER be treated like this. Hopefully they made a LOT of money."

  • "We went with another couple to Copperfish. Each of us ordered a different fish and we all enjoyed our meals. We did feel that the cook had a heavy hand with the salt shaker but not to the point where the food was inedible. We got excellent service and since we went early, the noise level was not too bad, although it increased while we sat there. The menu was interesting and we will return to try other dishes. We like the locavore emphasis."

  • "My husband and I and his brother and girlfriend decided to meet at Copper Fish for a Sunday evening casual dinner. The server seated us next to a very large table that was was filling up quickly. We asked to move to the next booth, a little farther away. I think if we had been seated across the street, we still would have been annoyed by this large party of women, all screaming to be heard. Then the music kicked in. I asked the waitress to see if it could be turned down. She did agree it was too loud. Our food was okay. My roasted chicken was exceptionaly salty, especially the skin and the gravy. My brother in law agreed, his was also. They did bring us a free dessert due to the saltiness. Not running back real soon."

  • "Our first time visiting Copper Fish as it is always very crowded, but we went early on a Sun Afternoon and got right in with our reservation. It's a very comfortable restaurant, the service is great and the food is outstanding. My husband doesn't eat fish so he had a burger and loved it. It's pricy but worth it. Only complaint is the parking situation in that area. The restaurant has no parking and you are forced to use the valet. This might influence our decision to eat there more often."

  • "The food was very great and delicious...both appetizer and main selection alike. The indoors environment was a little smokey with the open grill, which was noticeable, but not too overbearing. Servers were very attentive and pleasant. Price was slightly on the high end. Good overall."

  • "Copperfish has arguably the best grilled oysters in Tampa Bay--definitely a must order. You can have an outstanding meal with their appetizer and smaller plate choices alone (lobster roll, fish tacos, etc). Our server was great, but their host/hostess staff can be very rude and unreliable--don't expect to get outside seating or a special table even if you call ahead with a request."

  • "Snapper was excellent, on the Quinoa!! Oysters were tasty but very very small, and price should reflect the small size. Wish they had Apalachicola, FL oysters that are three times the size and as good as any. The food and fresh fish was awesome but the smokey kitchen needs much better ventilation. The wood or charcoal grill smells nice but needs to be more subtle, so a higher end exhaust fan would be recommended."

  • "We arrived 30 mins late for our reservation. I had specifically requested a booth away from the kitchen. The hostess took us right to a booth right by the kitchen. when I asked her if she could sit us at another booth (one was available) she explained that our reservation was only good up to 15 mins late I didn't argue further and we took our seat. The booth that I pointed out to the hostess was NEVER seated the entire time we were there. after our meal I asked to speak to the manager and pointed all this out to him. he gave a lengthy dissertation that actually never addressed my concern. he offered nothing as compensation nor took any responsibility for why my request wasn't met."

  • "The biggest problem has been with the reservations. Five out of six visits to this restaurant we have made reservations by calling in or through OPEN TABLE and they always have an issue with the inside tables. Always they tried to sit at the bar or outside. The last visit the reservation was made through OPEN TABLE and appears they overbooked. Their reply was that the custumer should mention that they want dinning room sitting. My reply was that if I wanted to sit outsiede or the bar , reservations would not be necessary, all I would need to do is walk in."

  • "First visit to Copperfish was amazing - service , food - we went back a second time - on the second visit , the servicie was not as great as the first and food was still good, again, not as great as the first visti , so we did give it a third try. We had an early resesrvation due to a play after diiner, so when we arrived there were only two other tables seated. We waited 15 minutes for our server to approach us, which continued thuought the dinner 20 minutes betweeen, water, drinks, appetizers, etc and there were only 3 tables. I ordered the same sushi roll - Dynamite roll that I did the previous two other times and it was a totally different dish that came out. Will not be going back for a 4th try; Also out of coke on a Saturday night?"

  • "We were really happy with most of the food. The exceptions were the overcooked swordfish and the boring bread. The mussel skillet was amazing, as was the Mariscos. The grouper, well, I didn't even get to taste it as it was gobbled down by the person who ordered it. We also enjoyed the mushroom and asparagus sides, but the cucumber kimchee wasn't very spicy or pickled. We shared two desserts -- the coconut creme brulee and the dish that is supposed to be like a s'more. The creme brulee was absolutely amazing. The s'more was disappointing. Homemade marshmallows and graham crackers would have improved it. The cappucini were great, both regular and decaf. We couldn't figure out how the raw mollusks could be kept so close to the open flame."

  • "Copper Fish is a beautiful restaurant that needs a good exhaust fan and better servers to become a true gem. The food is grilled, fresh and fantastic. Mussels skillet is to die for, and the stuffed flounder -- well, for those of us that have had stuffed flounder that tastes more like it has been prepared by a taxidermist instead of a chef, this dish is a true surprise and ... sublime. Shrimp, crab and flounder mounded inside succulent fillets, atop smashed, sauteed fingerling potatoes and asparagus, yum! No foam, smoke, or essence of anything. Just delicious, well cooked, well prepared food. The server was inexperienced and it showed. Out of room, you can read the rest of this review on Yelp."

Kind of annoying to have to re order items all night long. Need some inventory control. Other than that good. Need to freshen up the beer and wine list very generic."

  • "I have been to this restaurant about 6 times or so, and this visit was as good as usual. We went on a Tuesday night, and it was more low key. Great food as usual. We had these entrees, and they were outstanding. Seafood Stew, Grouper, Salmon with black rice. Delicious."

  • "All the seafood was great and the decor and atmosphere was quite comfortable and inviting. Our wait staff was delightful, but stretched way too thin on a Saturday night. There were long gaps between visits from our waitress. We made our reservations a little late the day before and were relegated to sitting in the lounge which was fine except for the noise level. It was difficult to hear across our table. We will most certainly return and make reservations well in advance in order to secure a table in the dining room. Many years ago this same location housed one of our favorite French Restaurants, Le Bordeaux. It’s nice to be back at that spot with a worthy replacement/upgrade."

  • "My wife and I came here to celebrate a special occasion and everything right from the start was simply superb. The service, food, welcoming feel were all top-notch. Perhaps the only slight negative was the fact that there could have been a longer break between courses, then again, there's nothing worse than waiting too long for your food and this certainly didn't happen. Overall, a minor issue for an otherwise amazing night and we'll be back again. This place is highly recommended!"

  • "We had heard Copper Fish was very good and upscale. So we made reservations for our anniversary. It sort of missed the mark. The renovations they did to the building were nice and it was pretty, but it was loud and not very intimate. The menu was all jumbled and hard to read. We had raw Long Island oysters that were barely enough to pull out of the shell. The waiter tried but was a little off. It was really nice of him to bring us a sample of the grits which were great. The salad was a good size and was good. The old bay chips barely had any old bay on them and were a bit greasy. We ordered the rib eye which was good and a good size and the paparadelle pasta with seafood. It was good, not awesome."

  • "Started with waiter recommended baked oyster special that we're cooked too long! I understand no salt/peeper on the table however servers should ask when salads are delivered if client desires ground pepper. Our server commanded us to "enjoy" after he left our salad then bolted, Masin courses were delicious -black grouper succulent and yellow tail fresh and delist. Don't bother with deserts - Nutella "soufflé" had packaged marshmallows; key lime pie with graham cracker crust too sweet."
