  • "Four of us went to Coppa last Saturday night and had a great evening. While we waited for our table to be ready, we went to the bar and had a cocktail. Even though the bar was hopping, we got great, personal service from the bartender who mixed up two great drinks that were off the menu. We told him what we liked and put ourselves in his capable hands and were rewarded with some delicious cocktails. At dinner, we ordered plates for all four of us to share in the center of the table so that we could have lots of tastes. Every bite was exceptional! In fact, it was so fun and yummy that we are going back this coming Saturday with some out of town visitors!"

  • "Ate here with the family on a Friday night. Very busy. Recommend going early and/or making a reservation. Mostly casual to business casual crowd - no shorts around. Appetizers were great! Had the burrata, chickpeas, fried zuccini. Entrees were good but not great. We liked that it wasn't traditional italian so it was nice to still have pasta in a different way. Ravioli was the favorite entree. For dessert, we liked the donuts better than the tiramasu. We plan on coming again."

  • "This is the fifth time I've been to Coppa Osteria in Rice Village. It's a new restaurant every time - meaning sometimes the food is fabulous, and sometimes it's okay. On Friday night I enjoyed the eggplant appetizer on the regular menu and the gulf coast red snapper fish special. The eggplant was fine, but I wouldn't order it again. The fish was divine. I had berries and panna cotta for dessert which was delicious. We enjoyed the Kistler chardonnay with our meal. Our server was friendly and knowledgable. We arrived at 6:30 p.m. and were out by 8:00 p.m. By 7:00 p.m.ish the families with little people are rolling out and the restaurant is packed for the rest of the night. Make reservations or plan to spend time at their lovely bar."

  • "On my third of three visits, I realized that a reservation means little and this restaurant seats patrons when they feel like it. I've averaged a 20-minute wait for a table, each time. They make no apologies or accommodations, which includes a proper waiting area or vacant bar seating. I'll revert to the location on Washington going forward."

  • "When Coppa in the Village opened up, I was excited. It is in a prime location which needed some good Italian dining. Appointments are hard to get on the weekend so plan ahead of time and make reservations. Usually walk ins will take about and hour to an hour and half. There are tables which are close to the entry door so when booking reservations online, request the back seating if you wish to not have the chilly air from the cold weather outside blowing at you every time the door opens. Hostess: 5/5 Wait staff: 4/5 Food: 5/5 Wine: 4/5 Overall, a great dining experience for almost any occasion. I would recommend this to friends, family and co-workers."

When we ordered bread it came midway through the meal..ordered a regular and a decaf cappuccino-when they arrived the delivery waiter had no idea which was which..so another delay. One can overlook these things when food is superb..it wasn't gulf snapper expensive, very salty -a disappoinment. Won't return for some time.."

  • "Came to Coppa Osteria on Sun eve 02March2014 with my wife for a dinner out on her birthday. She had the lasagna and I had the fusilli. Both were outstanding choices, with excellent flavor and good portion size. We had glasses of different house wine (pino grigio, chianti) - which we liked - and split a cannoli (three) dessert. The chocolate chip-containing cannoli filling was superb. Our waitress was attentive, warm, and friendly - we were more than satisfied with the service."

  • "The only reason the overall expdrience was a 4 star versus 5 star , was that we had reservations, but we were not seated until 45 minutes after our reservation time. Besides that, our dining experience was fantastic. Great prices on bottles of wine and the scene reminds me of being in a neighborhood restuarnt in New York."

  • "From its beginnings we have been long-standing patrons of Coppa Osteria. The food remains first rate, but we have noticed a gradual and now a precipitous decline in service, now almost to the point of comedy. We had wait staff wandering around to each table with food not knowing which table had ordered it. The pity is that the original wait staff working when the restaurant opened was far superior."

  • "This new restaurant is a fab addition to Rice Village which was in need of nicer options! The food is good and innovated but portions are small and expensive for what it is. I ordered linguine w/ shrimp for lunch and it was $22... Fine, if it had been sufficient but I left hungry! Salads are the same. No sharing!"

  • "This was our 5th or 6th time . . . and the first where there were real problems. Hopefully it was just an anomaly, but we were ignored for about 5 minutes after we were seated, and then were given our menu. After another 10 minutes the server finally showed. We were studiously ignored by other servers, and even the manager walked by several times and passed us by (and we tried to make contact). After this things went better, and the server was apologetic (supposedly a nearby table of 4 was monopolizing his time). But it did put a damper on our night. We'll be back . . . but they are on a short leash. And the food was good."

  • "This is a nice neighborhood place but there are better. It is not a gem. I 've been twice and a third time is dubious. I have yet to get exactly what I ordered because I deviated from menu .. remember the phrase NO SUBSTITUTIONS? Pasta is overcooked. Sauce reminds me of hospital food. Go if you must but notice it isn't exactly Chucky Cheese but at time there are that many kids"

  • "Very large, very busy, and they turn tables quickly. My view is that due to the stress on the kitchen staff, some of the more delicate dishes are inconsistent as a result. I have had really great Carbonara there, and I have had some with gristly pieces of pancetta and not as much flavor as the best versions. The meatball appetizer has always been excellent; don't know how the meatballs are so loosely packed but still retain their form; and they are served really hot. The red wine is always served a little warm; they really need to figure out how to get a bit of coolness on it; we had to dunk it in an ice bucket. Fortunately, they do know that an ice bucket needs to be full of ice & WATER and not just ice, so the cooldown was pretty quick."

  • "I went with a friend I had not seen in awhile, so we had lots of catching up to do. We had the sancerre, which was fabulous and the kale salad, which is inspired. Love the mix of kale, gold raisins, pine nuts, home made croutons and tuna. In addition to the food, however, three shifts of waiters were incredibly gracious to us as we talked for hours. (We would have moved the conversation elsewhere if the restaurant had needed the table.)"

  • "Room has poor acoustics, resulting in high background noise which made it hard to chat with my date. Our table also seemed to be in a black hole, as we had to flag someone down for attention after 25 minutes sitting without any service. Best part of the menu was the thin, real Italian style pizzas which I recommend. Vegetarian oriented menu."

Told several times that 'we were next' but did not get seated until we threatened to leave. past experience had been great. Brought potential new guests for restaurant but they we not impressed with the seating process. Unfortunate....."

  • "The place was very packed and busy so they let us wait for more than half an hour at the bar (we had a reservation!) without even offering something on the house or at least apologizing (were blaming the computer for taking outdoor reservations). Food (burrata, catch of the day, hanger steak) was fresh, delicious & felt very authentic. I really liked the crunchy veggies. The tiramisu was not the best choice – too dry and compact. I think I would go back for the food and hope they have better control to handle the crowd – maybe not on a Saturday night."
