Copia is one of my favorite St. Louis restaurants. So much so, that my daughter's rehearsal dinner was held there & I've celebrated several special occasions at the restaurant, in addition to all the other times I've eaten there. Saturday night was the first time I was disappointed. My husband & I ordered the Copia Salad & were surprised at how awful it was - soggy spring mix greens with grape tomatoes that were well past their prime & a piece of bread with goat cheese spread on it -left most of it on my plate. On the other hand, the shrimp & grits was FABULOUS as was the opa fish special of the evening. We were overall happy to introduce Copia to five new customers & will return. In the future, I would request NOT to be served by Steve.

First time at this restaurant. Thought it was a little pricey for the portion size on the meat/fish dishes. My daughter thought the lobster mac n cheese was to die for. Service was a little choppy and slow, but a large table came right after us.

Wine selection is outstanding. I was welcomed and invited. Nice appetizers. One item to mention is the process to transfer a bar tab to the table. Bartender was forced to wander around looking for people that got a drink at the bar and then seated. I could see the frustration having to find guests to settle up. I assume the bartender received less tips by transferring the bill. The food we had was less than desirable for a place of this caliber. We had lasagna & lamb. Lasagna was awful like soup & the lamb was ok but smothered in gravy. The meat should be good enough to stand on its own. Plate appearance was unusual. I’m not used to eating a formal meal froma bowl. I'll give them a second chance as my experience here was great and poor.

My wife and I were visiting from out of town and chose Copia based on reviews. We had cocktails, BBQ ribs for an appetizer, and split a large steak. We also did wine flights with the main course. The service was good and the server knew the menu well. All the food was nicely prepared, with good temperature and taste. The wine list is quite extensive with many options, even though we chose the flights. Definitely a good choice if you are in the area!

Copia is a great restaurant downtown St. Louis. The ambiance is great, the food was wonderful and our waiter, Turbo, was awesome. He even gave us a quick tour of the place, as it is much bigger than is seems from the dining area. They have several areas to accommodate groups and they have an amazing wine garden with retractable roof.

We were here for downtown restaurant week and are happy to have discovered a great new spot for dinner. The ambience is warm and inviting, the salmon was fabulous, and the manager was very personable and sets the example for the staff. The manager even offered us an umbrella since it was sprinkling out and made sure we got to our next destination comfortably. They could use a little more creativity at the bar with some speciality drinks, especially coffee(s) for after dinner, but that aside, everything else was great. The location on Washington Ave is superb with a parking lot across the street, it's close to several of the nicer bars, and they are only a block from Stanley's, a family-owned cigar bar (a rarity in St. Louis).

The valet parking at the front door was great. Our table was waiting for us, and our service exceptional. Overall, a very nice evening and I would definitely recommend this restaurant.

I work in the hospitality industry and am responsible for entertaining large groups from all over the country. I took a group of 13 to Copia and was very impressed with the great service and quality of food. Our head waiter was knowledgeable, efficient, friendly and organized. He gave great advice with regard to family style appetizer platters. The wine steward gave excellent recommendations for wine and kept within our budget. The ambiance was relaxing and hip. My group was from both East and West Coasts so I had people used to great dining and knowledgeable about wines and they were very impressed.

My girlfriend and I went here for our anniversary dinner. While the meal certainly wasn't easy on the wallet, it was well worth the money. After being seated we were greeted by our wonderful server Kelvin who informed us of their 5 specials. We perused the menu for a bit, and each found a wine to our liking in their enormous wine menu. The arancini appetizer was delicious. I had the steak oscar, and my girlfriend had the bone-in strip special. We agreed that this may well have been the best meal we've ever had. Even the bread served with our meals was phenomenal (fresh out of the oven and steaming hot). To top everything off, Kelvin got us a dessert on the house. A wonderful gesture even if we were too full to thoroughly enjoy it.

Our waiter, servers, and table location were great! I ordered an off menu special with Halibut, Shrimp, Scallops and asparagus all topped with a light cream sauce. Very good! My wife ordered the Lobster Tail at market price with a side of Macaroni. The presentation was excellent but her lobster was EXTREMELY tough/chewy and the pasta was nothing special. At $75 for the Lobster, she was extremely disappointed and ended up eating half of mine. Additionally, we ordered chocolate cake for dessert. While the portion was plenty for sharing, the cake was extremely dry and we were unable to finish it. Our waiter was very professional and courteous. Given the evening was a surprise for my wife at The Four Seasons and Copia...I was disappointed

From getting seated, to water refills to order taking, to coffee, the service was extremely slow. Our waiter did not check on us often. We would have drank more wine had he come by to check on us. The dinner food was fantastic and the outdoor dining area was refreshing. Skip the chocolate cake for dessert, it was dry, bordering stale. For 6 people, a $270 meal should have been better.

The restaurant has a nice feel to it. The waiter was efficient and the food was good. We had the fried risotto cakes to start and they were delicious. I had a shrimp dish which was also quite good. My husband ordered the bone-in rib eye that was a daily special. This is where they went wrong. Most of the steak entrees on the menu were in the $30 range. We didn't ask the price of the special (our fault). When the bill came we were shocked that it was in the $60 + range. Wouldn't have minded the $40 range, as that would reflect what the other menu prices were. The steak was only okay to boot! On a positive side, they have a great wine list and the mark up isn't very much. Probably would not go back because felt a "little had".

It just didn't feel as upscale as my previous experiences. The hostess had on flip flops and the bartender had on blue jeans. I asked hostess if they were under new management because the atmosphere was TOTALLY different. Also, I reserved seating in patio area but they bumped us for a larger party. I was disappointed until she showed me the room they gifted me ($125) so that we could have privacy. Still feeling unsettle but deciding to make the best out of the situation I focused on ordering my food .They were out of a lot of items such as steak and chicken but this forced me to try something different. I had a bowl of shrimp & grits that were scrumptious. I was nervous until I tasted my food. The food was delicious!!!

This is simply a fine restaurant. The decor is not over the top, but understated chic. You'd feel fine in casual or dressed up. The menu is carefully selected, and what we ordered was artfully prepared. And wait for the off menu specials. I had the best filet (24 oz bone in filet) I've ever had. Not cheap, but worth every penny. You can certainly break the bank, but there are great selections for reasonable money. Wine list gives you the "market price" and the "restaurant price." Nice touch. Emphasis on American wines. In short, instead of an experience designed to intimidate, Copia does excellent high end food with knowledgeable service, no fussiness and no artificial pretense. Will definitely return.

This was our second visit to Copia Wine Garden and it consistently has been a wonderful experience. The food is delicious; the chef has incredible culinary abilities. The wine list is global and competitively priced. The atmosphere is EXACTLY what you should expect. No screaming kids running around and not a "bar crowd" tossing peanut shells on the floor. A lot of variety, daily specials, & the largest wine list I've ever seen at a restaurant! Many wines were available by the glass, so each diner could have exactly what he/she liked. Reservations were easy to get at the time we wanted, even though there was a large convention in town, & there was no waiting to be seated. Easily walkable from the Renaissance hotel or the convention center. Copia salad was delicious, but too heavy on the dressing. Some of the dishes were too salty for some of our diners, usually those with sauces. I was there twice in one week, once with a group of 6 & once with a group of 14. Steaks came out perfectly cooked, & portions were generous. The waiter our 1st visit was perfect; 2nd waiter a little too enthusiastic.

I had a business lunch at Copia Tuesday; the service and food were very good and my client was impressed with the restaurant. Alexander was our server and he balanced attentiveness with giving us privacy. The only slight complaint I had was that the hostess tried to seat the two of us at a two-top though we had a reservation and the place was close to empty. I don't know why she thought squeezing us into a little table like that would be acceptable. We were two women - I really wonder if she would have done the same with two men. This was my first lunch at Copia and I would definitely recommend it.

We goggled restaurants in downtown St. Louis and found Copia. It sounded good, so we made a reservation. Wow. So glad we went. The interior is modern and chic but with a funky vibe. Our server, Kelvin, was top notch and even gave us a full tour of the facility, including the awesome outside patio area. It has a retractable roof! This has to be a very happening place on the weekends, if not, it should be. The menu is eclectic and has lots to choose from. We had the cheese plate to start, then chose a wedge salad to share. Kelvin had it split and chopped for us, and it was delicious! We both had steak, one the special dry aged rib-eye with three shrimp and champagne sauce, and the other a KC strip. Both were cooked perfectly and oh so yummy!

4 of us dined on business. Thankfully no client. Fiasco started "Fish of day prepared diff. Menu says 'served over Olive & Arugula Cous Cous' but we're out of cous cous." No big deal, right? Wrong. A warning sign. We ordered Bacon Wrapped Smoked Shrimp appetizer. Server apologized: we ran out of that. When entrees arrived, 1 guest said "I ordered broccoli like my buddy, not vegetable medley." Server apologized: ran out of broccoli. Wed, 715pm, downtown St. Louis--no broccoli. 2 guests ordered Black Sesame Ahi. The fish had turned: they served spoiled tuna. My medium rare filet mignon came out very, very rare. There's more, but no space to keep writing. Except to say: Mgr never came by & Server "reduced bill" to $232. Stay away!

We had eaten at copia about 8 months ago, and looked forward to bringing a friend to enjoy it. The first time we were seated in the front part of the restaraunt. This time they took us in the large back section. I was not thrilled! But after we sat, near the fountain with fire, I sunk into the lovely ambience! The wine and food were everything I remembered! The extensive wine list, and interesting food menu did not disappoint us and really impressed our friend. We each had something different to eat and all were very happy. I could not resist ordering the shrimp & grits again, and was not disappointed!

We'll get to the potatoes shortly. First the set up: Picked Copia for dinner before a show at the Fabulous Fox. Early reservation (5:30p). Which, in the end, gave us plenty of time. Guessing early seating time accounted for lack of any dinner crowd. Our server was Eric P and he may be one of the best waiters we've had in a long time. Very, very personable. Knowledgeable on the wine list and gave great food recommendations. My wife had Halibut on couscous. Very good flavors, including a little heat and spice in the couscous. We ordered a mac and cheese to share at the table. Lackluster. I had a bone-in filet and their house potatoes. Steak was perfectly prepared. Potatoes must be made with butter cream, as there was a heavenly sweetness!
