Diner Reviews
  • "Cooper's Hawk continues their tradition of excellence with their special lamb chop dish for Easter."

  • "It was not overly crowded. We were placed in a nice quiet spot and did not feel hurried. Service was efficient and pleasant. Food was tasty. It severed our needs perfectly. "

  • "I've been here several times and each time, I had something different. And each time it was amazing! We sat for a while before anyone approached us, but once they did, our server was great. He recommended a drink based off what I like and it was great. I would highly recommend the crab cakes and lobster bisque!"

  • "We have eaten at Cooper's Hawk several times and have never had a bad meal. Everything about the place is consistently top notch. And we love the wine!"

  • "Great wine! Good food a little expensive if dinner is what you are after."

  • "I had a luncheon for a friend and her fiance to celebrate their upcoming wedding. It was a small group of 7 but I will admit we felt like we were the only group in the house at the time. I forgot to ask ahead of time if they could do something special for desert (I was just looking for congratulations to be written on the plate) and they came out with a 3 item dessert plate that was enough for all 7 of us. Between us we had a steak salad, gnocchi, filet medallions, fish & chips, another steak and 2 pasta dishes. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed the food. The wine was delicious too. Highly recommend the plum and the rhubarb wines."

  • "A group of co-workers and I went for lunch and it took 1:20 start to finish. Service was extremely slow. In addition, the risotto, which I've had a number of times before, wasn't cooked well. "

  • "I have eaten at the Wheeling location numerous times as an individual with family and with larger groups. Regardless of what I select from the menu, I have never, ever been disappointed with the food, the service, or the wine. I would recommend it anytime. I would say that it is nearly always busy (I live nearby) so make reservations. Because it is always busy, it is also a little loud. Be prepared."

  • "The food was great (although now I know giardinaria in a salad is too spicy for me, but they replaced it immediately) and our waiter was terrific."
    Dined on 4/12/2014
  • "Very attentive and helpful waitstaff. Loved that we could taste the wine. Had a problem deciding which appetizer I wanted because there were so many good choices. Loved the pot stickers but thought the mustard should be on the side. I would definitely go back and try more of the wines."

  • "I love Coopers Hawk wine and the wine tastings are always fun! Menu options are not the best but the salads are awesome! Second favorite date night location :)"
    Dined on 4/12/2014
  • "When we want to be sure of a good meal, we go to Coopers Hawk. It never lets us down!"
    Dined on 4/12/2014
  • "The food was excellent. Ordered the scallops, and the shredded potatoes with cheese, superb. The banana bread dessert was the favorite at our table. Being able to taste the wine before we ordered aided us in making the best selection. Service was five star, the waitress had a great personality, we were treated as if we were the only customers in the restaurant."
    Dined on 4/11/2014
  • "Food was great. Service not so much. Had to ask for more drinks. Server would vanish. Food took too long to receive. Two of us ordered a dish that came with au jus. It wasn't on the plate. By the time we could hunt down server we were half way through the entree."
    Dined on 4/11/2014
  • "I was here on a weeknight. The food and service here were very good but it's an extremely loud place! Best for bigger groups or party-ers. Cannot have a conversation without yelling at your table mate over the noise. Not romantic at all. Not good if you want to have any 1:1 conversation over dinner. Don't know how they could fix the problem or maybe it was not built "acoustically" well?"
    Dined on 4/10/2014
  • "I remember and go to the "Greek Diner" which are great and plentiful in Chicagoland. Coopers is the new upscale Diner. Great, but not overwhelming selection. Great wines. Been to a few of their restaurants and the consistency of above average service is a winner throughout."
    Dined on 4/7/2014
  • "Always good food & service. I'm not a wine person, but a perfect place for wine people. Attractive interior"

  • "This is a great restaurant. High quality food ingredients USUALLY prepared well. BUT... This last visit. Hamburger, requested cooked to MEDIUM, served extremely well done (50% BURNT to charcoal). Replacement hamburger was served WELL-done (again, but not burnt) and "salted" beyond edible. Management was very accommodating - did not erase the fact that 2nd attempt to serve simple hamburger was beyond them today."

  • "Great spot. Food was good but service suffered when a team of three food servers showed up at our table before salad plates had been cleared. They were even going to try to squeeze the dinner plates onto the messy table! Other than that error, enjoyable experience."

  • "Even though we've been to Cooper's Hawk many times, on this evening we were celebrating a 19th birthday. The service was great for our party of 12. We had a nice big table and we were in a semi-private area which was great for the 3 guests in our group who are all under 3 years old. They were able to get up and walk around without disturbing other patrons. Food was awesome. Can't wait to return!"

  • "I have been to Cooper's Hawk several times now and have never been disappointed! The food is always consistently very good as well as the wine. They have a varied menu with many delicious choices...from smaller plates to larger main entrees. The lobster bisque is a special favorite. The desserts are scrumptious! The wine list is expansive with many different varieties. I would definitely recommend Cooper's Hawk to friends. The evenings are much more "energetic" to quite loud at times, but the food and service are still excellent. My friends and I will continue to frequent this restaurant."

  • "The music was way too loud that you could not even hear the person next to you talk. Tight space for big tables."
    Dined on 3/23/2014
  • "We like everything except the noise level. As the dining area fills the noise builds to the point that conversation is difficukt. We will only go back at off times!"
    Dined on 3/22/2014
  • "Last Saturday night our friend and I met for dinner Our waiter was superb and add to the wonderful time that we had. He also made sure that our needs were met. The flatbread appetizer was great. Everybody's main course was delicious. Cannot wait to have dinner there again"

  • "There was little confusion with our table but the hostess and other staff resolved the issue. Food is always amazing. Love the wine and the cylinder that they use to dispense the wine. Very unique. Great for a romantic evening for an evening with couples. Very nice ambience."
    Dined on 3/22/2014
  • "the food was very good and presented well. The service needs improvement. Somewhat price high"
    Dined on 3/22/2014
  • "We have gone to this location since the restaurant opened about four years ago and have generally been quite pleased. The server was unusually inattentive Friday night, so the experience was disappointing for us this time. However, we have gone to Coopers Hawk many times and will chalk this up as an anomaly."
    Dined on 3/21/2014
  • "A bit crowded for my taste, but since the food was excellent, it was worth the noise level. Pretty good menu. We each had a sandwich (jalepeno burger for me) which I have now ordered twice. Asian slaw was tasty."
    Dined on 3/19/2014
  • "Food was great.... but service was very slow this time which hasn't been the norm"

  • "This place was shoulder to shoulder packed on a Wednesday night! We had to park in the bank next door!! Once we got in, I realized why. Nice little wine gift shop upon entering. Wine tasting bar. Sweets case with chocolate covered strawberries. The bar needs to be bigger because there were many ppl in the bar area sitting down with food. The food was actually very good. I had the salmon and it was cooked perfectly. We enjoyed the pork belly tostadas, lettuce wraps and stuffed mushroom as apps. All very good. I would def go back again with a group of girlfriends. Nice place to go with out having to track downtown!"

  • "Enjoyed the good food. Decent for service.. It was really busy for a Tuesday night, seemed like lots of groups. Dress is casual. Seemed very energetic, definitely not what I wanted or expected for a Tuesday night. It was so loud that I could not even hear the person sitting across from me. Thankfully, food was good and service was decent, it made it bearable. Would probably enjoy it more if it wasn't so loud. I know for how much we had spent, I was really hoping for a more enjoyable atmosphere. Not sure I would go back to this location."

  • "This experience was much better than the first time we went there. The server was great and so was the food :)"

  • "Great food and service also affordable! Anytime of the day - will be returning and recommend to all."

  • "I do not understand the appeal of Cooper's Hawk.It is large and loud with an odd menu.To begin: when being seated, we walked past an empty booth and asked if we could have that instead of the table that was in direct line of the emergency exit and the kitchen. We were told no, because it was being reserved for a General Manager. Then, the wines were all sweet. My husband tried the flight, but did not like any of them. My friend tried two wines and ended up with no drink with dinner because they were both too sweet. (These were all white wines)I did not even try the sparkling flight because 3 of the 4 wines were flavored. The appetizers were good. We had the pork belly tostadas and tacos. Dinner was mediocre. Really, what is the appeal here?"

  • "This place is great for a celebration or a girls night out ! A few pitchers of Passion Fruit Sangria and company make it a great night. I love their pretzel bread, and they have a wide variety of dishes on the menu."

  • "The food is outstanding as is the service. The wine is so good. Easy to find, great location, and the prices are reasonable. Looking forward to going back soon!"
