The Cooperage Inn takes great pride in serving the freshest fish, meats and local produce available. Sauces are expertly prepared on premise by our chefs.

The name "Cooperage Inn" comes from the craft of coopering, which goes back a few centuries, when it was the major method of packaging. We are located in the Long Island Wine region. Wine makers have always relied on the skills of the Village Cooper to store and age their wines.Continued

Diner Reviews
  • "Although I wouldn't say it was theist brunch I've ever had... It was quite good. Turkey Pot Pie was outstanding. French Toast was burnt, Eggs Benedict was dried out. Nice selections."

  • "We viewed the sample menu on the web site prior to coming. It reads that there will be chef's choice of carving station, seafood entree and steak entrée. There was turkey on the carving station, a great mixed seafood entrée, and meatloaf. Meat loaf is NOT steak!"

  • "Our server was so preoccupied with a large table, we were totally ignored for over 1/2 hour, not even bread. The party table was so loud we could not converse. Terrible experience. Probably will not go back unfortunately we were trying to entertain guests from out of town, had to make apologies, was extremely embarrassed."

  • "it was a very nice sunday brunch with the family. we were having a nice relaxing time. the food was great everyone enjoyed everything. the bloody Mary's were perfect. My only issue was the bus boy, he was a little too fast at clean up. Some of our guests went to get some more food and when they returned their mamosas were gone. Since you only get one included with brunch, that one is very important and they were only half finished. I spoke to the waitress who very kindly replace their drinks. Nice job."

  • "Dining experience just ok...I can always tell from the bread what kind of food will be served..Rolls that we were served were on the stale side. That being said, I used to go to this restaurant when they had the Sunday brunch on the bar and it was yummy...Food seems to have fallen off with the size of the restaurant. I had fish and no special sauce came with it so it was rather bland and dry and looked thrown on the plate...Same for my husband who had the tuna..Decent dining experience because we were not rushed, but with the price of food these days I think they could do better."

  • "I chose Cooperage because I sought a nice place to chat and linger with long lost friends. On that score, it was a fine choice. However, the service was only adequate and the food disappointing. The house salad would have been better if the lettuce leaves had been better selected. The wines, a Pinot Noir and a Cabernet were served too warm. Both required an ice cube to bring temperature into the mid sixty degree range. My penne with grilled children with tomato vodka source was ample in size, but the chicken was chewy and dried out. A companion's selection of sea foods was o.k. A chicken dish was nothing special. We did not bother with dessert. Prices were tolerable, I should add, and parking fine."

  • "This was my third time visiting for the Sunday Brunch. The room we sat in was too hot. I look forward ti their Eggs Benedict, but this time The eggs Benedict was very vinegary, and the bacon was soft and under cooked. They had a communion going on and maybe they were too busy, bit the food, slow service and room temperature left a lot to be desired."

  • "Our daughter wanted to go to the Cooperage for her 20th Birthday since she loved it when we were there for Easter Dinner. We all enjoyed our food, it was cooked to perfection and plated very nicely. Our server Julie was outstanding! Very sweet and attentive. Highly recommend the Cooperage! Our entrees included the Swordfish special fish of the day, long island duck, broiled seafood platter and the rack of lamb. We split the "tower for two" appetizer....should have ordered 2 since it was soooo good. And desserts....well pineapple napoleon, key lime pie, awesome peanut butter something and the ice cream sampler...fantastic! Oh, and the Cooperage Salad is phenomenal!"

  • "A bunch of the nice eateries are closed in the area on Tuesdays. Cooperage is open, delicious and incredibly accomodating. I had to change my reservations twice due to my. Own underestimation of timing. The hostess was sincerely stress relieving. The food was fittingly delicious and generously portioned. It was a memorable day for both my grandparents and I. Many thanks to the Cooperage staff!:) "

  • "We took our parents to dinner for their 58th wedding anniversary on Monday. 5:30 reservations, lovely table with view of patio and outdoor fireplace. The food was excellent, everyone had something different, salads were crispy and fresh, bread basket warm with interesting choices. Good wine list. Dessert was very good crème brulee. The server, Lisa was able to accommodate an unadventurist eater with a Hamburger and fries from the lunch menu. We will definitely return."

  • "ate at this place several times, food is always good, but i ordered a steak at $41 and it was a bit overpriced. i wanted a baked potato and was informed they were out of baked potato's. we were in potato country. i drive down the road and get a 50lb bag of potato's for $10. then I ordered raspberry cheese cake for dessert and was told again they were out of that as well. give me a break. our reservation was at 6:30 not 8:30pm. I'll have to think twice before going back to this overpriced outdated establishment. the chair 's and table were old and unstable also."

  • "A consistently good spot for dinner or brunch. Menu items tend more toward old favorites than innovative but are reliably tasty and well prepared. A nice wine list with a number of local choices by the bottle or glass. The service is correct/warm & welcoming without being either too stiffly formal or over-friendly. Excellent value, especially 'small plates' which are really full dinners and come with a nice garden salad as well as sides. The lobsterfest dinner is outstanding. Specials are usually good. Personal favorites are crab cake small plate dinner, baked stuffed jumbo shrimp small plate dinner, chicken pie. Great choice for locals as well as winery/outlet mall/farm stand day-trippers."

  • "I took my mother here for lunch. I also brought my ten month old son. The staff was glad to accommodate us with a high chair. The view is beautiful. The inside is very charming. Food was fantastic. Wide array of choices, and prices. Something for everyone. Nice wine list, and specialty drinks as well. Service was great. My mother is excited to tell all of her friends about this place. I hope to be back soon, too!"

  • "This was our first time eating at The Cooperage Inn. The food was excellent; the be st meal we have eaten on Long Island in a long time! My wife and I both had the thick cut pork chops with garlic mashed potatoes; it was amazingly delicious! We definitely will be back. We love the Prix fixe menu; it allowed us to dine at a restaurant that we might not have otherwise been able to afford. Staff was great as well. We did not feel rushed through our meal either. Great atmosphere!"

  • "I have never been to this restaurant and decided to check it out during Restaurant Week, I was pleasantly surprise of how the food was well prepared and the service over all was good. Our waitress seemed a little overwhelmed but sweet, the other staff members were courteous and responsive. We will definitely go back."

  • "the cooperage inn is a great place to eat whether you're a young family celebrating a child"s communion or a family meeting for brunch or a couple looking for a nice place to have a bite to eat the food is always good the desserts are always decadent and there ARE healthier choices for those people who watch what they're eating and the fellow who makes the omelets to order is a master of the flip them over and make em look pretty school nice sociable and professional the fresh roasted turkey is succulent and juicy all in all a wonderful place to go on a regular or special occasion basis"

  • "My wife and I went here during restaurant week. The prix fixe menu included many of their popular choices. the sesame chicken spring roll was interesting yet not very spicy. My seafood pasta combo was loaded with mussels shrimp and fish steak pieces in a white wine broth which I mopped up with the provided rolls. My wife had the pork tenderloin in an apricot glaze which she loved as witnessed by the empty plate. For dessert I tried the warm banana bread pudding which was the only disappointment. It was hard and tasteless. I usually get the key lime pie which is always good. Service was provided by Julie, a very friendly attentive waittress. We were seated at a table in a corner and the view from my seat was the side wall. (not good)"

  • "My friend and I ordered the gorgonzola crusted flat iron steak. It was tough and hard to chew. We only ate maybe one quarter of it and then gave up. We didn't even want to take it home for leftovers. It was that bad. How can you mess up dessert? Even the key lime pie was horrible. Just a glob of whipped cream in a graham cracker crust. Didn't finish it. The waitress never once asked how everything was or we would have told her! Would never go back and will tell others not to as well! Very, very disappointing experience. And to think this was during LI Restaurant Week when one would think they would put their best food forward! "

  • "Everything I've tried here is good, but the Banana Bread Pudding is my favorite. Rich banana bread, soft but not mushy in a very tasty sauce. That is what keeps us coming back regularly."

  • "We went for Hamptons Restaurant Week and while the food did not let us down, the service was too fast. Dishes were coming out of the kitchen rapid fire which made the dining experience a quick thing. We didn't have time to really enjoy the full dining experience. We felt rushed."

  • "This was the first time I'd been to the Cooperage although other members of my party have been there before. It's a much smaller venue than I anticipated giving it an old-world charm. The decor is lovely and the beautiful glass doors between areas very attractive. My meal was top-notch. I had the seafood brousse and it was delicious! The prix fixe menu was fine, but I dislike that they list prix fixe and then have a whole other amount of stuff that is +$2 or +$3 - they should just raise the prix fixe. Overall, I would both recommend and return to the Cooperage Inn."

  • "My fiancé and I were exploring Riverhead and decided to have a meal at the Cooperage Inn. It exceeded all expectations and we will definitely be back. We arrived quite early, and there was a prix fixe menu for under $30 (with all premium options). We both decided to get the gorgonzola-crusted flat iron steak, which was prepared perfectly. The crab cake was delicious and the homemade mozzarella was exceptional. Portion sizes were large - so large we had to take dessert to go. Good wine selections. Our server, Julie, was warm, personable, knowledgeable and a consummate professional. She deserves a special shoutout."
