The name "Cooperage Inn" comes from the craft of coopering, which goes back a few centuries, when it was the major method of packaging. We are located in the Long Island Wine region. Wine makers have always relied on the skills of the Village Cooper to store and age their wines.Continued

  • "This was the first time I'd been to the Cooperage although other members of my party have been there before. It's a much smaller venue than I anticipated giving it an old-world charm. The decor is lovely and the beautiful glass doors between areas very attractive. My meal was top-notch. I had the seafood brousse and it was delicious! The prix fixe menu was fine, but I dislike that they list prix fixe and then have a whole other amount of stuff that is +$2 or +$3 - they should just raise the prix fixe. Overall, I would both recommend and return to the Cooperage Inn."

  • "My fiancé and I were exploring Riverhead and decided to have a meal at the Cooperage Inn. It exceeded all expectations and we will definitely be back. We arrived quite early, and there was a prix fixe menu for under $30 (with all premium options). We both decided to get the gorgonzola-crusted flat iron steak, which was prepared perfectly. The crab cake was delicious and the homemade mozzarella was exceptional. Portion sizes were large - so large we had to take dessert to go. Good wine selections. Our server, Julie, was warm, personable, knowledgeable and a consummate professional. She deserves a special shoutout."

  • "Normally I would give this restaurant five stars, the food is usually great and service and live music are always right on. This visit however was not as good as usual. I always order the seafood brousse but wanted to try something new. The fluke I ordered was more like a fried flounder fillet that I would prepare for my five year old, no flavor! My wife ordered the mahi mahi off the specials and it was bone dry, well overdone. We started with the spicy calamari and it should have been salty calamari. We couldn't finish it. The coop salad was great as usual and dessert was goo. Oh and the regular bartender must have been on a break, an older lady prepared our drinks, didn't know how to make a sea breeze, and the K1 martini was like water."

  • "I've dined at this establishment before with a large group before but this past Saturday was my anniversary so it was just my girlfriend an I. We were seated by the fireplace in a more private corner, and there was hardly any delay from when we sat down to when our waitress Dena came over to take our orders. The service was great as was the food, I will be coming back here again in the near future!"

  • "We had not been here in a year or so. Forgot how much we love this place. We were here the very beginning of January and the Christmas decorations were still up...very festive! We have been here for lunch during their Fall Festival also and that's a blast. We sat in the dining room on our last visit, right next to the live music. Loved the gentleman playing. Not too loud, we were still able to carry on our table conversations. Everyone had something different to eat and each loved their food. All but one brought half of their meal home - too much! Our waitress was delightful! Anxious to return!"

  • "I wanted to have a dinner with my two sisters and my cousin and their spouses being that it had been a while since we spent any time together just us. We talked about a lot of places but chose the Cooperage since it was close to where i was staying. I made the reservation online on Christmas night for the next night with a request which they accomodated. The place was exactly what i wanted - they put us at a great table away from most others so we could enjoy ourselves and the server was very patient with us as we had some people get stuck in traffic. They were very attentive and we were there for 3 hours. The ambiance was great - neighborhood place, with a cozy atmosphere and the food was really excellent. Overall a great night."

  • "We have been to Cooperage Inn several times and we always have a good experience. The place was decorated for the holidays, adding to a festive ambiance. Our server was knowledgeable and prompt. My only disappointment was the paucity of Gluten-Free dishes on the menu, particularly the Cod dish on the evening's specials which sounded yummy. I had the catch-of-the-day, Mahi-Mahi, which was a bit over-done and dry. Everyone else was quite pleased with their dinners. We will be back!"

  • "We have been going to the Cooperage for years, the Sunday brunch is a favorite. The food is great, and they are constantly bringing out new food, every time that you go up for more there could be a bunch of new selections. The main problem this time was that we were put in a room with a private party that was shy of it's 50 person limit for a room to themselves. They acted like they had the room to themselves, and it was so noisy that my little group of 4 had to yell across the table to each other. We are used to the overcrowding and being bumped by other customers but this was over the top. When we did complain they were unable to switch our table to another location though, and that was disappointing."

Waitress was OK, but scarce at critical points like every time food came out and no where to be found for a needed reheat or even for fresh ground pepper; servers seemed detached & amateurish studying their notes table side on who gets what (ours was a table for 2, not 8) but seemingly unconcerned with getting the food out in a timely fashion. I felt bad for the chef who produces a decent product."

  • "I have been to this beautiful restaurant several times; it never disappoints. It is a must each time I visit the No. Fork LI Wine Country - several local LI wines are available on the menu. This was our first time for Sunday Brunch as we have been here for lunch and dinner. The offerings were well prepared and extensive. I especially enjoyed the excellent and very, fresh smoked fish dips - I don't believe I have ever had better - as well as the hot, mixed seafood. Desserts were equally extensive and delicious. The restaurant is also a feast for the eyes, each room tastefully decorated for the season - a very, warm comfortable country setting. The Inn may be at its loveliest now decorated for Christmas! Don't miss it!"

  • "Had the brunch which was very good. The smoked ham was tender and delicious. Did not try any of the breakfast dishes except the home fries and they were very good. The desserts were plentiful and delicious. As with many brunches the wait staff have a tendency to forget that the customer still needs wait service. In this case we didn't receive our drinks until we asked a second time. We also had to find her for our check at the end of the meal."

  • "Except for the chicken francese which was a bit bland the shell steak was cooked to order an tasty. Seafood bisque was very rich and creamy. The duck was crispy on the outside and moist inside. The service was a tad slow. It was almost 10 min before we saw a waiter and dinner took 2hrs. Overall though a very pleasant experience and I would recommend it"
