  • "Cookshop did not disappoint for food. We enjoyed several apps, entrees and desserts. Gnocchi divine, roast chicken delightful, scallops excellent and mezze nice (though too large) selection of middle eastern treats with a twist. Waiter had more attitude than menu has ingredients. Get over yourself. Hot eat spots in NYC no longer mean "I'm looking for abuse." Serve food. Smile. Don't take it all so seriously. We closed the place (12:30), but instead of politely waiting for us to finish coffee and dessert, service staff opened all doors (34 degrees) to give us not to subtle message."

  • "This was my very first time coming to cook shop for lunch. Although I have been here a few times previously but it was only for brunch and breakfast. Every time you come the menu is different so you know the food is always fresh and delicious. Everyone is so wonderful and nice from the door to the waiter. The drinks are great and the food was wonderful truly gym that I'd recommend!"

  • "I am a regular customer at this restaurant, and was surprised at my first awful experience there. I was served raw pork(chop). The chop had grill marks, but that was it. After one bite I knew something was wrong! The manager did apologize, but the damage was done. I ended up getting my entree after everyone else at the table had finished. The promise of free desert was nice, but they still ended up on the bill. Talk about adding insult to injury!"

The variety of bloody marys makes for some fun and the service was very attentive without being intrusive. All up, a great spot!"

All the dishes -- especially the octopus, cod and pork chop -- were excellent excepting only the scallops, which were good but not quite up to the standard of the other dishes -- reducing the food rating to 4 stars."

They put smoked 'paprika' on EVERYTHING, my wife doesn't like that flavor and it was on 4 of the 5 things on the table and not mentioned on any on the menu.   • "Picked this restaurant on a whim. A friend and I wanted to grab dinner, i did some searches for times in Chelsea and fell upon this gem! The food was so fresh and well prepared. The wait staff was helpful with wine and dinner choices. We had the appetizer pizza with shredded brussel sprouts....SO GOOD!! We each ordered a different entree. we got the steak and the ham, both were crazy delicious and the portions were good too. All around this was a great spot. And for us a great find! We will definitely be back."

  • "Located a block from an entrance to the Hi Line, Cookshop is a popular place for weekend tourists. Very crowded and lively. You will need a reservation. Ask for a table in the back if possible because the front of the restaurant is very noisy. The food is fabulous - all farm to table organic and yummy. Great chopped liver and roasted carrot 'for the table' dishes. Hamburger is grass fed meat and delicious. Dessert of course, shouldn't be missed."

  • "I've been to Cookshop numerous times before but the service is not up to their usual standard. They didn't deliver service with a smile which I usually expect from this establishment. I'm not familiar with the current management but he didn't even say thank you for coming to the restaurant. I was beleaguered by what was happening around me. Saturday nights are suppose to be an energetic evening. Service is a reflection of a well established restaurant. It's not what it used to be..."

  • "I'm never disappointed when it comes to Cookshop. This farm-to-table Chelsea hot spot uses only the freshest ingredients for their menu that changes daily. I started with the most delicious wild mushroom soup and had the Arctic Char salad which had grapefruit. I left feeling satisfied but not stuffed. The place was pretty full at lunch time so I recommend making a reservation."

  • "My three friends and I had a great time at brunch a few weeks ago. We were a sat within about 15 minutes of our reservation, which when the wait is over an hour, I can handle. Our server was incredibly nice and gave us plenty of time to decide what we wanted to eat and drink, without seeming like he was ignoring us. The food was very good and the atmosphere is very energetic. It's definitely a great option for a group of friends to brunch and booze!"

From what I could tell this is a place where everything is really well prepared and very good. Based on our orders I got the sense that all the food here excellent. I ordered the Cookshop Scramble with smoked trout--so good. The biscuit was off the hook. We started with the apple beignets and we not disappointed!"
