Cook Hall is a great place to get a bite to eat before events at the AAC. They have an extensive beer list with many local beers on tap. The atmosphere is nice and there is not too much noise.

The food and table service was very good but the kitchen was slow. The presentation was excellent once it arrived. Our waiter was attentive and responded quickly to requests. The setting inside the W Hotel is cutting edge and I will definitely make a return visit. I had the Butternut Squash Soup with Oyster Mushrooms and the Kale Ceasar Salad. Most of the others in my group had the cheeseburger with the one exception having the grilled chicken sandwich. Two of my companions also had the tomato bisque soup. All reported enjoying their meal. The side of mac and cheese that accompanied the grilled chicken sandwich received raves by all who took a taste.

One would think that an establishment next door to the American Airlines Center would consult the calendar of events and be ready for large crowds; sadly, this was not the case on Thursday night when the Dallas Stars opened the regular season against the Chicago BlackHawks with a sold out arena. Cook Hall seated our party of 4 quickly at the reserved time and from that point forward it was a battle to get service, attention, food, beverages and (finally) the check. I may return because the food is good (and worth waiting for). Beer selection needs improvement with addition of some local brews...why go all the way to England when Lakewood, Fort Worth or Grapevine are so close?

My husband and I showed up at 8:15 on Saturday night (10/4) for our dinner reservation. We were told that the restaurant could not accommodate us due to a private event at Cook Hall. We received no notice from OpenTable, the hotel or the restaurant. Really disappointed!

We were at the W for a mixer and booked dinner here following. Just not even close to what we have grown to expect at restaurants in W Hotels. Poor service, food and atmosphere. When we discussed this with the management, they did the right thing and comped about 50% of the bill. But we will never be back while this restaurant continues in business.

This is a really cool place to hang out with friends, meet up before a game or a concert to grab a drink or an appetizer. My daughter and I went for dinner before the Aerosmith concert and while my daughters Fried Chicken dinner was okay, my pea soup was so watery I had to crush up about 12 saltines to give it some flavor and some body. It was also barely warm. I'd give them another try because I thought the menu looked intriguing and a bit adventurous and everyone can have an off night.

We had an attentive server and the atmosphere was nice. We went on a non-event night and the food was very middle of the road. You're basically paying for the proximity to the AAC and the W. There are too many nice restaurants in Dallas to settle, unless you're avoiding event parking. Overall it's just okay.

Considering the dearth of good dining options in downtown Dallas, this was a wonderful surprise. You just have to know where to go. We came after the rush had died down from the basketball game at the nearby American Airlines Center and it was fairly quiet. We ordered the short rib bolognese rigatoni and the pan roasted trout from the All Day menu - both were delicious and came without a long wait. No desserts or drinks as we had a race to run the next morning but would gladly come back next time we're in Dallas. It's only 1 stop on DART from downtown and has a lovely atmosphere and decor. My only grumble is the darkness, had to use the table candle to read the menu. But that seems to be par for the course at restaurants at W hotels.

food was fair, they were out of every wine we wanted, when the place became crowded the service went down the tubes--the place knew they would be crowded prior to the Elton John concert but did not hire enough staff so not only was the service slow but they tried to serve the main course before the salad and never got around to bring a second glass of wine. the food is fair but the overall experience was not one we would readily repeat

Great location and the gastropub had many menu items that looked delicious. Service was great, our waiter was very attentive. Many good drink options as well. We ordered the grilled cheese and burger, both were pretty good but could have been better. Our grilled cheese was light on truffle flavor and there was way too much bread to our preference. Didn't care much for the chips. Burger was fairly average but still good. Fries were a bit plain. Might give it another try to see if it's any better with some different menu items but it might be a while before we go back.

My family and I visited the restaurant on Valentine's day. My daughter was disappointed when the manager came to our table to inform us that they were out of ribs. The restaurant was not full but we had to wait a long period of time before we received our food. The waitress was really great and very attentive. Overall the experience was great and I will return with my friends because my family has already counted this restaurant out. The food is really great and the ambience is nice.

A lot more full plates and a less small plates then I would expect for a gastro-pub. The food it self was good, but not as outstanding as to justify the prices. The location though is great if you are going to the AAC for an event. Use the complimentary valet, get validated, and enjoy super close parking.

Perfect atmosphere . Great for romantic dinner or just a night out with the friends . We went before the mavs game and unfortunately were in a rush. The kitchen is a little slow but the food made up for that . Seared tuna salad was out of this world. Loved it! My husband had the cornflake fried chicken. He cleaned the plate. Our server was very polite and attentive . We will definitely be recommending Cook hall To friends and family. Can't wait to go back.

Waited 45 minutes for our appetizers. After our waitress forgot about them, we asked and were finally bought out a less than mediocre salad. 30 minutes later, I get a signal from the waitress, assuming that she was signaling our dinner was finally on its way out. Boy, were we wrong. She actually brought us our bill, and apologized for the delay. No main course. Confused, we asked about our main course, and she looked at us like we were the crazy ones and went to go check on it. Ten more minutes later, we get a plate of macaroni and cheese. At this point, we just asked for our bill and cut our losses. The group next to us happily took our untouched macaroni and cheese. Their offering to buy us drinks was by far the highlight of our evening.

I made a reservation for dinner with clients. The client I was with chose 3 different bottles of wines of which none were available for purchase as the restaurant did not have what was on the menu. The manager recommended an Italian wine, which was very nice; but not what we were looking for. Dinner took over 4 hours and it wasn't that busy. Not sure if that is the intent or not; but it seemed to take a long time.

One caveat re noise level : we were there on a Sunday evening and there were very few people in the restaurant. We tried to go on Saturday and it was packed; we couldn't get in. I'm sure I would have rated the noise level 'energetic' at that point. We will definitely make a return visit!

It might have been better if the dinner had been worse; at least we would have a story. The food is OK. The service was OK. Too expensive for what you get. Understaffed, but everybody worked hard. I felt sorry for the manager, he seemed to be running around filling in . Several reviews mention special event menus. It did not occur to me this is in place every night there is something at the AAC. If that is the case, I wonder when do they ever have a full menu? The AAC is booked 150-200+ nights a year. This restaurant is across the street! I understand event menus allow kitchens to work efficiently, but I wonder if you are across from the largest venue in Downtown & can't due full a full menu, then maybe you are doing it wrong.

There was a very limited menu as it was an "event night". Limited options are fine provided the food is decent quality. Our chicken was overcooked and cold. Almost like the chef cooked it to death, immediately sliced it, and then left it out on the counter for 30 minutes before serving it to us. Pasta was ok. Salad was pretty good. Our bartender was in the weeds according to our waitress and boy was she right. Took over 20 minutes to get our first round and they were not made well at all. Ordered a cocktail and they brought me tonic. There are too many good options in Dallas. I would avoid Cook Hall.

Had dinner before the Eagles - limited 'Special Event' menu, and fewer Gluten Free choices for me... though what was available was great! I had the burger (without the bun), and my husband had the crispy lemon chicken - both were excellent. Ramsey did a great job managing my food restriction on a busy night, and the kitchen seemed to take seriously - thanks!

Because of the Eagles concert next door, there was only a limited menu and service was slower than expected.
