Diner Reviews
  • "I met a friend here for dinner at her suggestion; I was a little apprehensive because reviews on other websites had been very mixed. However, the food was delicious, the service was absolutely fine (I think our server was Sasha), and the atmosphere pleasant. We had duck tacos, the cauliflower with hummus, and the roasted strawberry and goat cheese salad. All were really great. The only thing I would like to see different is that very few wines were available by the glass, and none for less than $10. An 8 or 9 dollar glass just feels a little better for a frugal person like myself. Otherwise, I'm glad I tried it."

  • "We were not pleased with our experience. The waitress recommended a beer to discover they did not even have it available. It ended up being 40 minutes before we finally received our first beers. She was not tentative at all and it was not because they were crowded. The food wasn't bad, but was very small portions and did not compensate for the terrible service. Also a guest of ours wanted to Vape. The waitress did not know if it was allowed and she did not offer to find out she just referred him to the outside patio."

  • "It was an unfortunate thing that Cook Hall Atlanta cannot connect the food with service. The food is amazing! The front of the house should take some cues from the back of the house. The space is intimate and should not be an issue. From the host to the exit there was a lack luster attitude with the staff. Must be poor management. Go for the Food don't expect service."

  • "You never know with a restaurant that is with a hotel - can it stand on it's own? This one definitely can and will be a place for a repeat visit. Our visit was relatively early on a summer Saturday - we had the place to ourselves for awhile. The service was terrific and loved the small plates - unique items, fresh ingredients without "trying too hard" - we got to try several things without breaking the bank."

  • "Cook Hall ran out of the honey comb that was suppose to accompany the starter, they were out of a few other items that I ordered as well...."

  • "We wanted to try Cook Hall because it is near our home in Buckhead. We went had a Saturday night reservation at 8 pm with another couple. We arrived at 7:30 to have a cocktail at the bar first. There were very few tables of diners and the hostess and server kept pestering us to be seated. The food was actually quite good. We shared duck tacos and olives and hummus to start. The tacos were delicious, just spicy enough. My husband and I split the crispy chicken and asparagus risotto dishes. Both also very good, though the risotto was a tad bland. Cinammon donuts for dessert were great. Unfortunately, service was very intrusive. Also by the time we left the place was empty."

  • "Love love loved the food. Fantastic gnocchi--I've been looking for good gnocchi everywhere, and this hit the spot. Really cute atmosphere as well, and the drinks looked great. Would definitely recommend. "

  • "I have been to Cook Hall several times and it never disappoints! Ordering small plates always makes the meal enjoyable and new! We went with a party of 8 and everyone loved all of the food. The cocktails are great too! After everyone had a cocktail in hand we ordered our first round of snacks - love the deviled eggs and popcorn shrimp! The group was afraid that we would fill up if we ordered more appetizers so we went for the entrees - they were all wonderful! The fish was amazing, and also had a side of cauliflower and humus - it sounds different but tastes great! There were lots of desserts on the table and none were left by the end. Everyone agreed that we could go back the next night and eat all different things on the menu!"

  • "I have a running date night with my lady and we rotate who picks a new place and who pays each month. This month I picked Cook Hall. The place is cozy and has a really attentive staff. I had the braised short ribs and collard greens and she had the scallops and a salad. The flavor of the food was amazing. Things are meant to be shared so they area a little bigger than tapas but smaller than real entrees. I would definitely recommend this as a place where my friends should try out."

  • "Went for lunch on a weekend. Burger was great. Friend wasn't so positive about the truffle grilled cheese. Too much bread, not enough cheese. Overall overpriced for what you get since the $13 burger doesn't come with fries. The fries were very good but you have to order them separately. You can get either spicy, truffle, or garlic."

  • "Great Time again, had the Popcorn shrimp and the Cheeseburger and it was so good. Finished with Donut Holes and drinks and it was great. I've bee here three times now and everytime has been exceptional. Highly recommend."

  • "Small but delicious plates. I didn't have an entrée so I can't comment on that, but the popcorn shrimp, crab stuffed devilled eggs & flat bread were all tasty. Valet parking is kinda a pain due to the restaurant being at the W hotel with Whiskey Blue upstairs, but the parking is free for 3hrs"

  • "Went to Cook Hall to use a gift card given to us by a real foodie. Food was delicious and well presented. However, we gave the server our gift card to settle up. The server ran the card several time and then were told that it had a zero balance. Quite shocked, we whipped out the good old AMEX and were prepared to pay for our wonderful meal. It was definitely worth it. But another couple tried to pay with a gift card and it also had a zero balance. Quite chagrin, the manager came over and profusely apologized. He immediately comp'ed the meal without any prompting. He did the right thing. We will certainly be back and not just for the food."

  • "Great food, ambiance and service. The prices were a tad high for the small plates and the amount of bites you actually get to take."

  • "Got a reservation for Friday Valentine's night out. My date and I had a good time. Cool location, good food and great drinks. We enjoyed the Charcuturie Plate with cherry mostarda. As our waiter advised, we tried the liver pate and really enjoyed it. Also had the deviled eggs with crab and a different take - horseradish providing the heat rather than mustard. Chopped salad was good but not outstanding, found it a bit dry. Finally we shared a the Crispy Chicken which came with a favorite, brussel sprouts. It was very flavorful but parts of the chicken were overcooked. Finished off with the chocolate truffle/raspberry layer cake..excellent!"

  • "We were there for the Gift Market this past week. Checked in Thursday evening. Had breakfast there on Saturday. There was some issue with the credit card/Internet service. Thunderstorm that morning, totally understandable. OJ awesome, food great. Took very little time to get breakfast. Good, a bit pricey, but not out of line. Had dinner there on Sunday. We were both exhausted and not feeling great. Reservation @ 7pm It was not that busy, we were in no rush (inspite of not feeling best). I felt that the (few) courses we had, were a bit rushed. Why push diners through, when there is no one beating the doors down? I have run into this at many other venues before."

  • "We had a group of 5 during a recent show at the Mart. We were all pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food and the extremely attentive server. The wine, beer and food are all outstanding. Loved the duck taco's, popcorn shrimp served on a bed of freshly popped corn, pate, and butterscotch pudding. We will be back."

  • "This gastro-pub in the lobby of a modern hotel serves tasty food. The service is good but not perfect. My party enjoyed all the dishes, and I would go back again. It is upscale casual (i.e., not a special occasion restaurant, but not an everyday one either)."

  • "My husband and I eat at Cook Hall for lunch about once a week. (We work right next door) We always enjoy our lunch. This was the first time we've been back for dinner in a while. The food was crazy good. David's cooking is up there with some of our best chefs in Atlanta. The management is our favorite too!"

  • "The two of us had dinner at Cook Hall for the second time. We were very impressed. The food is excellent! Service and ambience were also outstanding. There are many good dining choices in Buckhead and Cook Hall is among the best. We'll be back there soon."

  • "With an empty restaurant on a Saturday evening it made us question our decision upon walking in. Moreover by the end we were ready to run out. One would think with only 5 other seated tables the waiter would have had no problem keeping drinks filled. Not to mention the purpose of tapas is to have a lingering relaxing meal. With their staff constantly eating the table of our plates we had more of an impression of a rushed meal. Although the food was amazing I am not sure I will be going back again. This is a shame as our first experience while the restaurant was full was much better."
