  • "Fine offering of European favourites, some with a lighter touch. Bright with windows on two sides, linen cloths, friendly staff. menu items very well prepared and good selection of wines. Conveniently located; we enjoyed our evening and plan to return."

  • "Sunday evening was our first time at this restaurant which is a bit out of the way as we live in St.Albert.We were pleasantly surprised. The restaurant was busier than anticipated for a Sunday evening, but we were seated immediately.Reservation definitely recommended. The food was excellent-our waitress was friendly, pleasant and attentive. We will definitely add the Continental treat as one of our "usual dining spots"."

  • "We had a lovely dinner out for a celebration. Service was top notch. The pickle soup was delicious. My Dad grew up in a traditional german family, and loved every aspect of the food. Dessert was also scrumptious. My parents loved it so much they would like to make it a tradition to come up to the city for dinners at the restaurant."

  • "The first time my boyfriend and I went to continental treat it was amazing. I remember how amazing the food was and the beer list was also fantastic. We indulged in their amazing soups and beef stroganoff. The service was great and we noted it as our favorite resturant in edmonton. So, we came back with a group of our friends and it was... Meh. The food was cold when it came out. Our service was okay, but the food was disappointing. Maybe it was because of our big group? But it was extremely dead and still loud in the resturant. I have to say this go around they've been bumped off my list almost intirely."

  • "Continental Treat is a gem for lovers of everything European: great atmosphere, great service, great east European cuisine, reasonably priced (though not cheap). This is a family owned restaurant that has graced the Whyte Ave scene for over quarter of a century. And did I mention THE BEST European beer menu of any restaurant in Edmonton? Well worth your time. Do get on the e-mail list for their international wine & cheese, beer nights, etc. Well worth your time."

  • "Positive - Beef Tartar was excellent - out table of 4 shared as an appie) and dinner was great, but not fabulous. Our waitress was very attentive and pleasant. Negative - they have a sign posted outside the door "No children after 5 pm". However, we unfortunately were seated next to a very badly behaved and very loud toddler. Others at their table kept trying to hush him, but the parents did nothing. Another table came in with 2 dry well behaved children....no problem at all. Interesting to have this sign out....Also the tables are very close together for a place that is so pricey. We had a fun evening, but would'nt chose to come again!"

  • "We often dine at Continental Treat for Sunday lunch and it's time I wrote a review to say why! The food is consistently good and hearty- schnitzel and goulash are family favorites, with dill pickle soup a must (recommend you upsize from a cup to a bowl-it is that good!) We are always made to feel welcome and yes, our family will continue to regularly find our way back to Continental Treat."

  • "I am completely unable to say one negative thing about this place. My wife and I had the best time and the food was amazing. Service was perfect. I can't wait to return here. Absolute perfection in all areas!!!"

  • "Great selection of European dishes beer. I will be back for the schnitzel and 1L steins again and hopefully be able to book the back private room again as well"

  • "The service, food and the entire experience was outstanding. Great place to treat friends to an evening out because you know every meal will be a delicious experience."

  • "Continental Treat Fine Bistro has wonderful food. The Vienna schnitzel was so tender. Although the price of the meal was on the high side of reasonable, what I really objected to was having to pay an extra $2.95 to have a couple of tablespoons of mushroom gravy poured on my schnitzel. The meal would have been too dry without the gravy."

  • "We've known about this restaurant for years but never had the inclination to go until a friend's recommendation coincided with a Groupon offer. Food was quite good, but the prices are quite steep. Two lunch specials cost close to $50 (no beverages, appetizers, desserts)! That's quite expensive. There is a sign on the window that says no children after 5pm... It's a good thing we didn't take our daughter with us for supper like we had originally intended. We would've been quite upset to show up for supper and then to discover that children are not welcome. This information is not on their website and it certainly wasn't on the Groupon either. They are not a pub or lounge so the no children rule raises a question of age discrimination."

  • "We enjoyed our Visit to this fine Restaurant very much. The Server was pleasant and helpful in explaining the Menu to our Co-Diners that had no previous Experience with European Dishes. The Food was excellent and especially the Wiener Schnitzel was enjoyed by everybody. We will be back."

  • "I've been here many times, and am never disappointed. It's nice to eat at a restaurant that isn't trendy for a change. You can always rely on good, old fashioned food, and excellent service. "

  • "We ate at Continental Treat for a special occasion recently. The restaurant was crowded and noisy, the tables too close together. The service was good. The drinks were OK, The food was OK but nothing exciting. The Borscht was good, the pickle soup was good, Escargots, and chicken stroganoff and hungarian goulash were all smothered in creamy sauce and garnished with pickles ??? and sour cream??? Way too much stuff to mask the meal with flavs we did not enjoy. Meat was overcooked. Pasts was OK but not great. Will not return. They need to update their menu, decor, amd staff/ "

  • "My husband had the best liver dish in years! My choices were yummy too: the escargot, caesar salad and sauerkraut-patoto soup! The only little thing to consider is that you have lots of time in order to enjoy your evening and meals. Our meal took a looonngg time to come out making it very rushed when our food came as we had to get to the theatre for a 7:30pm curtain call. Otherwise, it was lovely."

  • "Over the years Continental Treat has been a fairly regular destination for my extended family. They never disappoint on the plate, and the service is always just right. Sometimes you have someone in your party that has many questions to ask, and other times you hardly need the server, but they always seem to get it right. The beer menu is impressive, and the lamb chops are among the best in town for sure!"

  • "Great location and fine dining. Ambience wonderful with a splash of olde world charm Soups to die for and great martinis. It was a memorable way to spend lunch on a warm Saturday afternoon on Whyte. "

  • "The restaurant should change their name from Continental Treat to Continental Catastrophe! For a restaurant to be classified as "fine dining", one would expect the service, ambience, taste should be impeccable! First, the waitress was inattentive! Regardless if it was bread, more water everything HAD TO BE ASK! Lack of initiative! Then it took over 45 min for the appetizer to arrive. I had to give it a couple extra stars because the expensive perogies were good though they better be at $3 a perogy, they better be! The meat on our entree were dry and overcooked. To end it all, a standard 15% gratuity was charged to a table of 4 so no wonder no effort was put on service. For a table of 4 with no alcohol and almost $300 later, not worth it!"

  • "It's costly but you get LARGE portions. They have the best selection of beer I've seen in the city. I recommend that you try the pickle soup. "

  • "This was my first visit and came highly recommended. The recommendations were accurate! The food was excellent! I grew up in Vienna, so when the Schnitzel impresses me, you know that it is good. The accompanying salads and pan fried potatoes were spot-on and delicious! I tried the Dill pickle soup also, on my friends recommendation , and again, it was excellent. One of my companions said she wasn't a fan of pickles and did not order the soup, but Sylvia, our server, brought her a wee bowl, and she enjoyed it very much! We were all impressed by the service, which was excellent and professional, with just the right amount of personal touches! I will definitely return, and would recommend this to anyone looking for great meal!"

  • "This was a great place to celebrate a quiet birthday where conversation was easy. We did not feel rushed and the coffee kept coming. There was a very good dessert menu and a lot of variety on the food menu as well. We will definitely go back."

  • "Service was overall good , food was bland and overpriced. Bathrooms were very outdated for a fine dining establishment , will not go back."

  • "Impeccable food and professional service, if a bit rushed at times. A gem of a place."

  • "Good wine and beer list. Great ambience. Wonderful service. The only problem that I have is in making a selection from their wide array of tasty dishes and entrees."
    Dined on 5/2/2014
  • "Ambiance, service and food were good. Beer selection is amazing! Dishes are over-prized for the size of the portions. "
    Dined on 4/30/2014
  • "As usual the food is excellent. Disappointed with the service which is unusual. The server was aloof and not attentive. Had to wait a long while before order was taken."
    Dined on 4/29/2014
  • "The long anticipated revisit for the dill pickle soup did not disappoint. all the food on the menu looked delish and our choices were tasty, well presented and more than enough food. The beer and wine list were a little fancier than we are used to but we were there for the food not the libations. "
