The Continental Treat Restaurant is a family affair. Two generations of the Borówka Family work together to bring their romantic turn of the century dining vision to life. Owners Ryszard and Helena Borówka and their son Sylvester Borówka oversee the entire operation. Ela Palmowski is the Executive Chef together with sous chefs Maria Pałkowska, Bartosz Beresiński, Alexandr Oleineac, and Dusten Dixon. This international team of sous chefs are constantly innovating our menu. Other talented sous chefs joining us this year; Attilla Szabo from Hungary, Zdenek Holub from Czech Republic, Helmut Schumacher from Switzerland and Alexader Davidoff from Russia. Christopher Czapiga and Cindy Oland are the hosts who will welcome you gracefully on any occasion. The ambiance is one of pure charm, combined with an air of luxury and elegance. During the day classical music selection waft overhead, reminding you to take your time and enjoy the journey.Continued

  • "The food is fabulous here! My favorite restaurant in Edmonton!"
    Dined on 4/10/2014
  • "Pricey but large portions, impeccable service, European atmosphere . Recommend pickle soup, Greek salad, chicken stroganoff. Would suggest that if someone makes a reservation for a birthday, etc, the restaurant should provide a small dessert with candle gratis."

  • "Due to the fact we purchased a groupon offer for this restaurant..they will get out discount back in spades. We will attend many more times and recommend it without fail. Wife already wants to go back for the all inclusive nights....great food .,"

  • "What a little gem! I lived a few blocks away from here for years and never went; was I ever missing out! The food is worth every penny and the atmosphere is vintage, with classical music playing. Very professional. We were seated right in front of the window where everyone walking by can see you and you can see them, which at first I was sceptical about, but it ended up being a constant conversation piece for my husband and I who normally only talk about the kids. The food was so unique and rich! I would definitely go back!"

  • "Seated near the window for people watching. Service was top notch and the food was spectacular as always. I had the veal snitzel with potato salad whcih was fantastic. The server was also friendly to my son even though it isan adult only atmosphere after 5 pm. Great wine and beer list. Eastern european food at its finest!!!"

  • "This is a perfect place to go if you are craving borscht, schnitzel, herring, all those hearty Central European foods. There are also other choices on the menu that are lighter and all are well presented and very tasty. The creme caramel is some of the best I've tasted. The beer list is extraordinary. There are also regular wine evenings offered which include several courses and wine pairings. A neighbourhood gem for sure."

  • "I was very surprised with the food portians, they were much bigger and the taste was far better then i expected! It was an anniversary dinner for my partner and i and we are already planning our next trip there! Great place"

  • "It was too expensive for the amount of food given."

  • "An oldie but a goodie! Continental Treat has been around for ages, and eating here reminded me why they have consistently high reviews. Dining here felt like I was dining in an old bistro in Paris along the Seine. Except instead of the Seine it's Whyte Ave :). Excellent food, phenomenal wine list, great service, and very generous portions. We will definitely be back!"

  • "It's been a while since I had eaten at Continental Treat but I'm glad we came back. Very enjoyable food and recommended."

  • "took my 80 year old parents knowing they would probably love the schnitzel, and they did. fab beer list, wonderful service. can't say enough about this place -- for years walked by thinking it was stuffy and expensive -- it is neither! great experience. I love the spatzl. also a great location for ppl watching on Whyte - get a window seat!"

  • "Excellent delicious gourmet food ! Great service; the servers aren't as annoying as in most places where they interrupt your eating and conversation with the typical questions:"is everything tasting fine?", "Are you guys Ok so far?" The atmosphere is very romantic, great background music that allows people to chat without any problem. The place is pricy, but it's worth every penny."

  • "Have been here several times and service always has been great and the food outstanding. Had a booking for lunch and was seated quickly and ordering and receiving the food was quick. Always enjoy their dill pickle soup as a starter; is one of those soups that could be a meal with some heavy rye or rustic bread. This time had the wiener schnitzel which I haven't had for a while and was very good with pan fried potatoes and vegetables. Another dish that is very good from the past is the Hungarian Goulash. Unfortunately have always been too full with the cup of soup and the entree to try a dessert so not able to report on those. Not an inexpensive place to eat but great for a nice treat."

  • "Continental Treat has been around for years, and it never disappoints! Whenever I have a special occassion, I always take my friends and family here. The food is divine, and the service is so attentive. I love the ambiance; you feel as though you are transported to a historic Hungarian/German/Austrian restaurant. This place is a destination in Edmonton to be sure. The beer and wine lists are extensive and unique, and the menu has lots of variety so that everyone who dines can find a choice that suits them. The price is extremely reasonable considering the portions and quality of the food. I would not hesitate to recommend Continental Treat to anyone who is looking for a night of fine dining. One of the best Edmonton has to offer."

  • "My husband and I came here after the hockey game as we were kidless for the night. The food was excellent, hot, tasty, unique and extremely enjoyable. We got one of the last reservation times of the night and the restaurant was close to empty but we were seated in a slightly awkward table right in front of the bar where we listened to the 2 waitresses talk about their personal lives for close to an hour. I almost got the impression that they weren't really happy we came that late."

  • "My wife and I both enjoyed our meals. Given our German and Polish heritages, we were thrilled to see such a great selection of entrees. We will be back to try other dishes!"

  • "We had heard about about Continental treat from a bookstore on Whyte Ave. We were not disappointed, the pickle soup was delicious. The wine and beer list was outstanding, the main course was delightful we had pork and lamb chop with german noodles each. Gustav was a great host and server , it all boiled down to a great night out."

  • "Food and service always outstanding. We will be back again soon. Love the pickle soup!"

  • "The food was excellent and the ambiance was top notch! The portion sizes of the meals are considerable so if you have a smaller appetite be careful what you choose! We have been here before and shall return again to The Continental."

  • "If you are looking for something a little different with no fast food ambience this is the place. Fully staffed experienced personel make this Bistro a dining experience worth remembering."

  • "Great beer/wine list, food and service. Overall a great restaurant."

  • "It was very nice to find some good German food in Edmonton. The schnitzel was delicious. The spaetzle was a little overdone and not much taste. The salad was fresh and tasty but a little pricey at $13.95 for two. It is a nice little restaurant with some parking spots in back and it is great that they take reservations."
    Dined on 3/8/2014
  • "Very friendly and cosy place. After online reports we have expected more. Real disappointment for me was when spätzle turned out to be pasta. I love spätzle, pasta watered down the experience of my beef stroganoff . Also food was quite heavy and we did not finish our dishes. Location and ambiance are perfect."

  • "The food was excellent! Service was also Great. There was a large group of us. we had a variety of the soups, the pickle soup was very tasty as so were the other soups, to the appetizer's,( smoked salmon) to the main coarse of the Vienna Schnitzel, Lamb Chops & the Steak, all very tasty, done to perfection! We had the Apple Strudel for dessert, very tasty. I have been there before and would definitely recommend going there. I know I will"

  • "My girlfriend and I visited one Sunday evening and thoroughly enjoyed our meal. The food was incredibly flavourful and rich, and the beer menu was enormous. It is more expensive, but I felt that the whole experience was worth it. Our waitress was very polite, friendly, and was very quick. It is an excellent choice for special occasions"

  • "This was our first time being inside of the restaurant and we were mildly impressed. We had originally booked this for an after dinner dessert as part of a date night and a Groupon. The desserts were so good and the vibe so relaxed we decided to keep our Groupon and book our Anniversary dinner before leaving."

  • "If you like an older feel when dining, then you have the right place. I prefer new decor, 'design' type restaurant's. The service was very professional but I thought given the older feel, that it would be more 'homely/inviting'. The food was good but lacked flair. Overall, it was an average night out."
    Dined on 2/28/2014
  • "I would recommend trying the ethnic food - you can get a steak anywhere. (I'm not suggesting their steaks are not good, I'm sure they're wonderful.) The stroganoff was absolutely delicious. I had the chicken and my partner had the beef. We both chose the kopytka as an accompaniment, which was an excellent choice. And do try the Pickle soup! There's a reason it's so popular. The barszcz is good too. They have an extensive, albeit mostly expensive wine list, as well as a very large beer list. We decided on beer, and were very happy with our choices from what was available on tap - a German Hefeweizen and a Trappist Ale. This is all served up with excellent service. If you like quiet and old world charm, then this is the place for you."
    Dined on 3/1/2014
  • "The service was great and the food tasted good, but way overpriced. The portion sizes were massive but really lacked anything special for $45/plate entrees. Wine mark up was ridiculous too and wine list selection by the bottle was missing some key price point ranges (ie. only a handful of bottles under $75). I expect a high mark up at a 5 diamond restaurant, but not at an old worn down time warp of a dining room. For the $300+ I spent on dinner for 2, would rather spend my money somewhere a little trendier where the restaurant and food feels inspired and not just going through the motions. Service was excellent though."

The owner is an amazing man and puts his heart and soul into the place. Always a big smile and handshake for us!!! Thanks again CT for an amazing dinning experience!"
