ContigoBest meal yetThis was my second visit to Contigo and as wonderful as ever. I'm a 21 year veteran of SF and this is probably my favorite place to dine. The food was so tasty and lovingly prepared.6/15/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat meal!Loved our meal- very welcoming place, great food, great service. Will definitely return.6/8/2013 12:00:00 AMMore than we expectedTried Contigo for the first time and not sure what to expect as a lot of places advertise how they're "Spanish", Catalan, Basque but upon seeing the menu usually end up disappointed. Well, this is the REAL deal! Heavy Catalan influences..with a mix of traditional Spanish/Basque dishes. Loved the compactness of the place. Staff/Kitchen is very efficient. This place kicks a-- a lot of other tapas bars we have been to in California.
Some items we ordered:
Txakoli (Basque wine)
Patatas Bravas (typical Spanish), Black squid ink paella, Fideua noodles (Catalan), greens cooked with fruit/pine nuts (Catalan), montaditos assortment (Northern Spain), excellent dessert chocolate drink...churros (a little on the thick side).6/7/2013 12:00:00 AMAlmost PerfectAmazing food, great service, slightly marred by cramped seating, diners seated too closely with room 3/4 empty, and lack of outdoor seating option on online booking site. Would definitely return but next time book by phone and request different table. Highly recommended.6/6/2013 12:00:00 AMFood, service & ambiance! Our first time at this restaurant, lively even on a Sunday, my husband & I had a great time. Beautiful contemporary space in a charming neighborhood. Loved the patatas braves, spinach/chickpeas, and albondingas; tripe was a miss as it was just way too fatty. Also had a 375ml carafe of a lovely Montsant to go with dinner. Looking forward to going back!6/2/2013 12:00:00 AMDelightfulMy second experience at Contigo did not disappoint... the entire staff is welcoming... and the server was once again great fun and attentive. Everything delicious and delightful.6/1/2013 12:00:00 AMLush! Most amazing food and fantastic service - this place is devine!!
Would recommend to all my friends and will continue to come back :)5/31/2013 12:00:00 AMBest restaurant experience recentlyContigo didn't have our table available until 30 minutes after the reservation time, but once we were seated, they really delivered. My party of 3 had a great time. We loved the food (including marvelous desserts), the wine, and the lively ambiance. The noise level was fairly high, but we were able to converse without any trouble. In addition to table seating, the restaurant has two sets of counter seating, so it works even for single diners. We spent $240 (including tip) for the three of us.5/24/2013 12:00:00 AMTapas on the patioGorgeous food and lovely wine that can be enjoyed on a cozy little patio. Wonderful spot for an early dinner on a sunny day - we have been back several times and will keep coming!5/19/2013 12:00:00 AMThe food and see ice is veryThe food and see ice is very good but the tables are really are cramped together!5/19/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent for Any OccasionThis was our second meal at Contigo. We look forward to many more. Everything about it suits us: location (w/in a 10 minute drive from our house), ambiance, food, service. An unqualified top recommendation.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMLoved it!Great food, trendy decor, super friendly service. So happy this is around the corner!5/7/2013 12:00:00 AMcharming contigoA bustling vibrant scene with wonderful tappas selections. We were 7 people and the waiter recommended a number of dishes that we all enjoyed. The wine list was all Spanish wines and we selected a full bodied and tasty red that we drank throughout the meal.
The timings on the dishes was at a perfect pace. We all had a wonderful time. Good job !5/5/2013 12:00:00 AMinteresting tasting menuThe tasting menu is good. Could have been one less course.
The meatballs were the only disappointing item in the tasting menu.
Sardines were great.
They ran out of the only non-commonl dessert, the almond cake, on the first seating of Sunday. We were very disappointed to hear that at 7:15. So maybe they can plan for popularity of certain items.
The flan was one of the best we have had.5/5/2013 12:00:00 AMOrder the Chef's SelectionsPut yourself in the hands of the chef and let them decide what you'll have. Seven courses for $40/person! Can't beat this meal.5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMMike my waiter and Devon theMike my waiter and Devon the manager made it a pleasurable experience to bring my mom to.4/21/2013 12:00:00 AMWhile the menu and food atWhile the menu and food at Contigo are excellent, the service is no better than average and, frankly, for the price, the service is below average. Despite living very close to Contigo, the combination of the difficulty to obtain seating promptly, high prices, noise, and average service offset the good quality of the food. I only patronize Contigo with guests from out of town. Savvy San Franciscans can find a neighborhood tapas restaurant
Within ten minutes from Contigo that it is equal in food, better in service. It lacks the presentation and,is, in fact even louder, but one quarter the price. I wish Contigo the best but will refrain from being a regular until the improve the service or the prices are more in line with good Noe Varestauran4/21/2013 12:00:00 AMOutstanding Spanish food!We went last Saturday night, a group of 5, and we had the $40.00 per person tasting menu. The chef selects 7 of the nights best dishes, and they're served family style. It does not include dessert, but after the 7 courses we were too full for dessert anyway. Every single dish was outstanding! We've been to Spain several times, and live Spanish food. I have a brother-in-law from Barcelona, and he's the one who told us about this restaurant. Very authentic, with a California sensitivity... Fresh, local productsb ingredients! Can't wait to go back!4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMOne of the most enjoyableOne of the most enjoyable meals we've had in recent times. The waitress designed and orchestrated a flow of tapas dishes that delighted all four of us.4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMWe had a group of six of usWe had a group of six of us and sat in their rear patio - nice space and quieter than inside. We shared the tapas sampler of 7 dishes - all quite excellent. The squid with black was a standout for me. Excellent, personable service. Overall a great experience.4/19/2013 12:00:00 AMAlway GREATi always really enjoy the food and the service. Everyone is very friendly and very prompt. Our server was sweet and full of info on the food.. Really friendly and a good server. The food was Great.. 1st time for the person I was with and she Loved it..4/18/2013 12:00:00 AMPerfect dinnerWe had a fabulous dinner at Contigo, combining many vegetarian tapas with a few that featured seafood. Each dish was as perfectly balanced as the last. We had house-made lemon sodas -- not too sweet, quite refreshing -- and perfect desserts, especially the coffee and caramel flan with a bittersweet chocolate cookie. The service was very attentive but inobtrusive. We will definitely be back.3/23/2013 12:00:00 AMThe food was delicious andThe food was delicious and different. We sat outside in patio area by a curtain where it was a bit drafty. There was a heater and it got better over time.3/23/2013 12:00:00 AMfresh and deliciouslove this place...right in our neighborhood....
the scene is fresh and lovely...food...exciting.....if you love tapas style....go here...just make sure you have reservations!!
make sure you try everything on the menu and off the menu!!
The drinks are good with a nice wine selection!3/22/2013 12:00:00 AMExceptional find on CastroSmall neighborhood restaurant on Castro was an excellent and surprising find during a business trip. Parking was a bit of a challenge to find an open spot on the street.
Once in the place you're greeted with the kitchen on the left with bar seats facing the action. Once I saw this that was where I wanted to be. Service never faltered as I was waiting on by several from the moment I stepped up to the hostess to the time I left.
Crab croqueta, wood roasted sardine and avocado toast, calamars a la planxa, and ablondigas...each had a unique and flavorful combination. I would order these again but there were so many other dishes that looked worthy of a try as well.
Go here...you won't be disappointed.3/21/2013 12:00:00 AMall the food was excellent.all the food was excellent. very great flavors. we had the flatbread which had the best smoked flavor!!!; the meatballs which were very tender and cooked to perfection; the asparagus was great and the fried egg on top to die for; the potates were so flavoable and the sauce has a very big kick; the lamb was tender and yummy and the dessert of hot yummy chocolate was the best! very thick and delicious!!!! a must---not too pricy for tapas in that the portion sizes were nice. did not feel hungry when we left. bravo!!!!3/16/2013 12:00:00 AMWe had a great meal here.We had a great meal here. Delicious food and very attentive service. I will definitely go back.3/16/2013 12:00:00 AMBest Spanish Tapas in sfVery good environment for small groups. Very good service. The Spanish Catalonian tapas selection is very good. Portions are a little small but delicious.
One of the best Spanish (from Spain) food restaurant in San Francisco.3/16/2013 12:00:00 AMWanted to try a new placeWanted to try a new place -it was pretty good I would go back3/15/2013 12:00:00 AMParking, Parking, Everywhere!Parking, Parking, Everywhere! We had a late-night Wed table. Food was fine. Better than Inopia, for instance, and 90% of actual spanish restaurants. The asparagus was not *charred* but tasty. Garbanzos were like a not-very-hot Indian dish, also tasty. Someone complained about below of few choices in meat/seafood. I'd like to whine, "more veg dishes please!"3/13/2013 12:00:00 AMWe came here for Valentine'sWe came here for Valentine's day. Overall, I was very impressed with the quality of the food. Fit for a fancy downtown establishment, without the pretense. My girlfriend and I loved the dinner, and our server was great. He was very knowledgeable on both the food and the wine pairings, and had a Spanish accent to boot! The location was great and it was easy to find parking nearby. Only complaint was that the tables near the door to the patio tend to get a bit cold, so if you are cold-blooded try to sit as close to the interior as possible.2/14/2013 12:00:00 AMLoved the meal ..... LotsLoved the meal ..... Lots of tasty dishes ... But the $$$$ added up quickly :-)2/13/2013 12:00:00 AM
