A word from Contigo
Contigo is a Spanish and Catalan tapas restaurant in the Noe Valley neighborhood of San Francisco. Our menu features rustic dishes inspired by the vivid flavors of Barcelona. In addition, we offer artisanal Spanish and American hams and a daily Catalan coca (flatbread) from our wood burning oven. We cook everything from scratch using the products of our local, organic, and humane farmers, ranchers, fishermen, and artisans.Continued

  • "Not the kind of transitional "tapas" you might expect - the menu here is more interesting and varied. They have a great prix fix set tasting menu, and an excellent wine list. Don't miss the Iberica ham if they have it - it's expensive but unbelievably luscious."

  • "Very cute place and definitely try to sit outside because the back patio is super cozy and great heat lamps! Food is all delicious, great delicate calamari and the potatoes are unreal. Definitely a nice place for a nicer meal and everyone was super nice."

  • "We made reservations and still had to wait about 15 minutes for our table. The restaurant was PACKED, so definitely make reservations or be prepared to wait if you don't mind that. Not a lot of waiting space either, so wait outside and bring a sweater :) Other than that, the food was spectacular. We were unfortunately next to a large group of fairly inebriated men, so it was louder than I think it normally is in there. We would return!"

  • "Best tapas placecwe have found outside of Barcelona. Small plates were inexpensive and delicious. Beef cheeks were tender and tasty. Halibut was cooked just right. Food was served at the appropriate pace. The recommended wine was delicious and reasonably priced. We will return."

  • "Whenever we step inside this neighborhood restaurant, we immediately feel the warmth and vibrancy that is part of Contigo's charm. We always enjoy a variety of tapas and raciones, but when it's the right season, we are most delighted by the goat cheese salad with grilled figs and roasted hazelnuts. Though we don't often have room for dessert, when we do, we love the almond cake if it's on the menu, as well as the thick hot chocolate with crispy churros which is always on the menu. Contigo is a special place and we feel like we're enjoying an evening in Barcelona whenever we're there!"

  • "What's not to like about tapas and a wood burning oven - when well done? Never got to a main dish - tapas were too tempting, and the wine suggested by the server was excellent. Recommended highly!"

  • "I loved the Cava drink I had. Our favorites were the halibut and the goat cheese salad."

  • "Loved the food and the dining room looked beautiful...but we were seated at the very back of the damp patio, next to the woodpile. Given that we had a reservation and the restaurant was mostly empty when we arrived, it was a disappointing placement and I wish I'd asked for another table."

  • "This place has a nice vibe to it. Our table was just inside from the outdoor area and amenable to conversation. The tapas are fun and tasty. Tuesday Paella night is a nice introduction."

  • "Delicious tapas with wood-fired flavor. Friendly service. The hot chocolate and churros at the end are perfect."

  • "and Contigo is just as good as anything we had over there! Delightful."

  • "Over six people requires fixed price menu which is pretty silly since it is tapas, not entrees. Inside is LOUD so it is hard for a big dinner party. I was sitting in the middle and couldn't hear people 2 seats away. I suspect the patio would be better for large parties. Service was rather slow."

  • "We were celebrating a birthday and enjoyed the experience at Contigo. Choosing and sharing a variety of dishes was fun and we had the opportunity to taste some very good dishes. The waiter was exceptionally good and as one at our table could converse in Catalan with him, our experience was enhanced. Our only reservation about Contigo is that we were seated at a table where we could hear the conversation at the neighboring table--a bit distracting. We will be back !!!"

  • "We went to Contingo this week to celebrate a 60th birthday. Unfortunately, the evening was not a celebration. Service was very very slow and we never received all of the items we ordered. Our reservation was at 7:30 and we finally gave up at 10pm. Very disappointed - I will not return."

  • "Just back from Barcelona, I thought it would be fun to try Contigo. The tapas were yummy. There's a nice assortment of choices. Food came pretty quickly. The service is a bit sketchy, but it was friendly. We were not familiar with the wines offered so asked for the advice of our server who steered us to a rather expensive bottle that was not worth the price, but I'll know better next time."

  • "Outstanding find in Noe Valley. Extremely friendly service and fantastic tapas selections. Elan (sp)? who acts as hostess, but who is the owner, is so sweet, friendly and down to earth, she made us feel like we were regulars. We brought in a bottle of wine for a special occasion, and she was so nice we offered her some to taste with us. Everything we ordered was delicious! In fact, there were a few items that were so good we ordered seconds. The vanilla bean ice cream with olive oil and sea, salt as mundane as it sounds, is a must order for dessert! I eat out all the time in the SF, and I HIGHLY recommend Contiga. TRY IT!!!!"

  • "My friend and I just had a wonderful dining experience at Contigo - a neighborhood gem! Just the right balance of great food, great wine, great service, and warm and fuzzy ambience. The noise level was perfect for providing an atmospheric buzz and for carrying on a conversation. I would definitely return there."

  • "Excellent experience. Tables a little close together so not good for privacy but good if you'd like a jolly atmosphere. Patio pleasant with heaters."

  • "This was our first visit to Contigo in two years, and we were delighted to find it was an memorable as we recalled. Friends who were there for the first time raved about the food, which we all shared. The Spanish white wines are excellent and available in a half carafe. Standouts were the jamon croquetas - one is not enough - the albondigas, and the patatas braves, but I would crawl across Divisidero to have their stunning hot chocolate with churros for dessert. The service continues to be prompt, efficient and pleasant."

  • "The service was amazing. We were seated promptly at our reservation time. Everything we tried was fabulous, but a few dishes did stand out. My favorite dish was the goat cheese salad, so good I had 2! Also the lamb was wonderful, although pricey. The flatbread was out of this world,"

  • "What I love about this restaurant is that the tapas are very special and composed of wonderful ingredients but they don't make a big deal about it, they just throw the plates down. Eat and enjoy!"

  • "Sat in the outside patio, which was lovely and quiet. A great place to talk and catch up with my girlfriend, it was warm and not loud. We loved sharing the small plates and 2 desserts."

  • "I only wish I could remember the name of our server. She was so nice. Knew the wine list and could and recommended a great wine. Food was great. Highly recommend the cod. Disappointed the sliders didn't have more flavor but we did enjoy everything. Absolutely will go again. We sat in the far back and it was really comfortable and not as loud as the main restaurant."

  • "One of SF little gems that consistently presents Spanish food in an outstanding way, taste, venue and service. Tapas to die for, mains that are just incredible. Never over many years have I had anything but a superior dining experience. The chef knows how to keep the menu new and intriguing and the preparation is always amazing. Don't miss the desserts. Truly an place you have to eat at once a month to appreciate the hard work that goes into consistently fine dining."

  • "Second time we have been there. The food was good but the price didn't match the quality. There were ants crawling on the back wall in the outdoor seating area- I understand we are outside but that needs to be attended too. The jamon was delicious but the other tapas weren't as impressive. I had the apple almond tartlet that was new to the menu- not impressed and probably should be taken off. It tasted like they used some store bought pastry and the shining star was the salted caramel that they smeared under the tartlet- what a waste."

  • "Small explosions of flavor in every dish. The Jamon Iberico was really good - quality of this varies across the City, but Contigo has some meltingly soft slices that make you understand. The Caldo was a great broth on a rainy night, patates braves were fabulous, and the albondigas were juicy. Afterwards, the coffee is top-notch. It's a little loud, but aside from that - a great restaurant."

  • "A small neighborhood restaurant with great cuisine! Appreciated the way they took us in before our reservatiion time. We dined on the outdoor patio (with heaters) and sampled 5 plates, delicious pork, shrimp specials, a dainty beet salad and albericos-spanish type of meatballs were among the noteworthy. Wished we had ordered double of everything! Ended with one of the most delicious yet simple desserts we have ever had, xurros dipped in warm melted mexican chocolate-to die for!"
