Diner Reviews
  • "We usually eat on the same street as the theater and we're happy when it is 45th. Menu is substantial and we're almost drooling as we try to make up our minds. The staff is very welcoming and it's nice to be remembered. We'll be back after the holidays."

  • "Close to Broadway theaters, I have come here for lunch before a matinee or a drink after a show. This time I did both, enjoying a drink that was new to me--The Nutty Irishman with Baileys Irish Cream and Frangelico. Connolly's had a fair number of international beers available as well as Irish drafts. I would rate the food as better than average pub food. The atmosphere was fun. It was the weekend of the NCAA basketball championship and some Connecticut Husky fans livened the vibe. I was also impressed with the manager/maitre d ? who was welcoming and charming. I passed the pub the next day and he remembered me from the day before and asked if I would be visiting Connolly's again. I said not that day but next time I'm in NYC."

  • "We had a delicious meal prior to see Matilda on Broadway. EXCELLENT food and great service! We can't wait to go back! We're hooked."

  • "Burgers Salads and Beer in a comfortable atmosphere with a buzz. I would say this is dependable stop in a touristy area, that feels like a local spot. Menu is wider but did not experience. I would go back."

  • "This was a Friday night, so thankfully, we had a reservation and were seated right away. Service was on the slow side, and the noise level was high, but the food was decent, the prices were reasonable, and we got out in time for our play. Overall a good choice for someone going to a theater nearby."

  • "I've eaten the Chinese chicken salad at different Connolly's for lunch many times - I love it!!! I can't speak for the rest of the food but it is a very nice, friendly pub and I will continue to visit it!"

  • "We were greated with a big smile and lots of personality! We got there early but we were seated right away. We were offered to have a drink at the bar first or they could show us right to our table. Lots of food choices...wanted something fairly light because we were heading to a show immediately after eating. My husband ordered chicken parmesean. You just don't order chicken parm in an Irish pub...better to go with the shepard's pie or Irish beef stew! It didn't have much flavor. But the service was great and everyone was extremely pleasant. Very large selection of beers on tap."

  • "I always eat at Connolly's, either alone or with a friend, when I go to theater on 45th Street. The salads are terrific and everything is presented beautifully. I'm sure we'll be back. Even alone, at a table, I always feel comfortable."

  • "As a long-time Open Table patron, I was looking forward to enjoying lunch at Connolly's Pub during a recent New York visit. Our meal was generally good, appropriate for pub fare in the city. Management, however, claimed to be unfamiliar with Open Table's frequent user program. While our host recognized our reservation, our server advised she would not accept the Open Table Dining Cheque. She explained that she presented the Cheque to her manager and was told Connolly's would not accept this form of payment. I spoke with the manager, who said she had never seen such a form of payment before, and in the absence of her general manager she was not willing to allow its use."

  • "We were looking for a pre-theater restaurant. American, casual, inexpensive. My son wanted burgers. This place is lively. We had a great table upstairs by the windows. The burgers were very good, but we waited 45 minutes for them. The table next to us had appetizers and there dinner before we were served. May have been a fluke. Manager felt badly and brought us a round of drinks. Nice, but we had to rush to make the 8:00 curtain. It still was a nice dinner."

  • "I dined here after a Sunday matinee and it was lovely. Quiet atmosphere, bar or upstairs seating, and an attentive staff that did not rush you out the door. I came early for a reservation and still had no trouble. The gentleman at the door gave me a choice of bar seating or upstairs dining. The food arrived quickly and I sat with my party for an after dinner coffee. Perhaps because it was Sunday the restaurant was not too crowded. It's located within an easy walk in the theater district"

  • "This is quite a good place for good regular pub-type food. It is certainly lively and sometimes a bit noisy if it is quiet you are looking for. There are multiple bars and some good music in some of them. Prices are reasonable and the portions hearty."

  • "We enjoyed our meal at Connolly's Pub during the SuperBowl extravaganza. I made a reservation the day before because I knew our legs would be spent after walking around for hours. We were seated promptly at our table and had something to drink within 10 minutes. The room we were in was very loud when we arrived so it was difficult to have conversations among our group of 5. The loud parties left before dinner was served so it worked out okay. The burgers were good and I recommend the Shepherd's Pie. No one left hungry. A very good value for the food that was served!"

  • "The dinner all round was very good . The desserts were lacking in every way possible and it took forever to come out. Whereas tbe apps and food came out fairly quickly. Dinner was good. Desserts were horrible. Apple pie was strange"

  • "Food was fabulous! Ordered the burger (one of the best I ever had) and my husband devoured his fish and chips (he loved it). Staff is very professional and helpful. Cozy ambience and prices are moderate. It will be my "go to" when out and about on Times Square and seeing a show. Had lunch on Jan. 26th w/reservation. Matre di showed us to the table but since it was close to the front and absolutely freezing outside, we requested a table further away. He was so accommodating, gave us a smile and an "of course" and gave us a roomy booth that was available. Also, our server, Lisa, was friendly, sweet and, most of all, very professional. What an enjoyable experience!"

  • "Always come back for a friendly, reliable dining spot. Noisy, but, not overwhelming, because of the NFL playoffs. My filet mignon was very enjoyable. Family all enjoyed their meals. Love the wood-panelled decor and the wonderful bar."

  • "After a cold day of walking/shopping Midtown-Times Square area, and watching a musical, our group was very pleased to gather for good food, beverage, service, and atmosphere at Connolly's on 45th Street. Our reservation was promptly and honored and upheld. We all had a very nice experience."

  • "No matter which of the fine Connolly's you visit, the service, food, and atmosphere is consistently excellent. I love the Irish brogues of the staff. It is a vibrant atmosphere without the feeling of being rushed in and out. The service is polite and accommodating without being overbearing. Any Connolly's anytime!"

  • "The atmosphere was warm and cozy. This may sound silly, but I swear they were the BEST nachos I have ever eaten! The perfect amount of toppings along with exploding flavor. Perfect for two! Also the fish and chips entree was amazing. It was a large portion and my daughter said by far the best she had ever had! It was a nice lunch experience. I would recommend it to my friends:-)"

  • "We went to Connolly's right before seeing a play. We had arrived 30 minutes prior to our reservation time, but they seated us with no issues. The food came out quickly and was typical tasty bar food. Everyone enjoyed their meal although my Chicken Pot Pie was not as hot as I would have liked. That was the only negative to an overall nice dining experience. It was also a great value for the area as it did not break the bank for 5 of us. I would recommend Connolly's to a friend and definitely return if I need a place to eat before a play."

  • "We ate here on our trip to New York and we're really disappointed. I ordered a Heineken and it was the worst pint I've ever had, obvious the pipes hadn't been cleaned in a long time. From there it didn't get any better. The Gaelic Burger was awful on a stale bun and the fries near cold. For dessert I had the brownie which again was so stale, obviously microwaved to heat it. Overall would recommend avoiding this 'Irish Bar' - a bad sign if they can't even get a pint right."

  • "We were very pleased with our time at Connolly's. It had been recommended to us and for our 7 family members, it was the perfect place, near all the places we wanted to see in the Big Apple, with great food and good service. Thanks for the ease of reservations and contact."

  • "We stopped here before a show. Very nice looking wood panel decor. Vibrant scene. Beautiful bar. Set reservations for a Friday or Saturday. We ordered spinach and artichoke dip for appetizer. My wife had a cheeseburger and I had fish and chips. Both were great. Fish and chips were exceptional and I dont really order that dish. We had fruit for dessert. The whole experience was well priced, hot spot buzz, cozy environment and friendly service. Two thumbs up."

  • "Our reservation was for 19 at 5pm. We showed up at 4 and they were ready! Nothing but ease was felt during our party and they had quite a few parties going on. The food was excellent... Fish and chips so rich and buttery just awesome. A couple people returned some mixed drinks to the bar, but we let them know you order beer or whiskey in an Irish bar. Duh! Anyway the only issue was they were not willing to draw up separate checks for us. This becomes time consuming and aggrevating. Especially when you have people not drinking. If it was an office party it would have been fine we could have split it. But it was a group of co workers with family and friends. Other than that it was a great experience and we will visit when in NYC next."
