Went to Connie & Ted's to celebrate my birthday. Checked in w/ the host & our table was ready a few min later. I kindly asked the host if it was possible to have the 3 of us seated since the 4th person would be getting there any minute. His response to me was filled w/ attitude. Rolled his eyes & rudely stated it was the policy of the restaurant that we had to wait for everyone. I totally understand policy & would have been completely fine with the answer had he said it nicely. For the host to treat patrons so rudely for asking a simple question is unbelievable. A host is the first person customers will see & his attitude definitely left me with a negative feeling before even getting seated. Slow service, great food otherwise.

We expect value for our dollar. A top chef may serve small portions at a steep price but the taste experience itself makes it a good value. At a chow down restaurant we expect a full plate at a reasonable price Connie and Ted's food was mediocre by any standard adding insult to injury serving tiny portions at a steep price. The lobster roll ($26) arrived at our table with a small dish of slaw. It was tin.Steamers arrived with a bucket nowhere near enough to even fill the bucket one-quarter. This pretentious place even did not recognize the birthday in our party requested on our Open Table reservation. In all the years we have subscribed to Open Table restaurants, this is the only time the need to alert you to an awful place has arisen.

I had a delicious lunch and as I as leaving the valet was very disorganized. I watched the attendant shift cars around the parking lot for 10 minutes and then as he pulled my car up he swiped my mirror against another car mirror damaging both cars. I've placed multiple calls to the valet company and have not received a call back. What was a great experience turned into a negative one. It's a shame, that was one good lobster roll.

My darling and I had the privilege and honor of sharing another of our monthly anniversaries at Connie and Ted's! We can't get enough of the oysters, and the angels on horseback are to die for. Of course a sazerac or two goes without saying. We"re going to have to try the rest of the menu but until then, our anniversary dinner was one for the books. And oh yes, our waiter, David made it even more special.

It was casual and fun but not a must hurry back to. Manhatten chowder needed more depth of flavor, more of a kick but it was good Rhode Island chowder was disappointing, something, I think the onions or the potatoes had just started to turn. New England chowder was best I have had on West Coast Fish and chips were good, particularly for LA but traditionally, fish and chips are fried in beef tallow, which imparts a distinct flavor, the chips were perfectly ok French fries, but woefully inadequate as chips. Tarter sauce needed capers or shallots or green chili. Desserts were very well flavored but somehow missed the mark. Hands down winner were the buttered dinner rolls.

this is the perfect recreation of the classic dockside seafood shanty. look more carefully and you will see that it's architecture, while masquerading as a "shack" is actually an engineering triumph of what steely pylons and giant wood beams can do to defy gravity. this unique modern piece of architectural art would stand up in any storm. the food is no less impressive, truly five star quality seafood, again masquerading as a casual walk along the proverbial seashore. congrats to "ted and connie," may they live long and prosper in west hollowed.

This restaurant had a lot of attitude when they first opened. It was a real turn off. We finally decided to give it another try. The food was quite good and achieved it's goal of invoking an east coast seafood joint. We enjoyed every dish we ordered. Ambiance was lacking. The acoustics are bad, causing it to be very noisy. The hard surfaces amplify the sounds coming from the open kitchen. The service can only be deemed adequate. The server went on break at 7 pm on a Saturday night. Really???? Who sends servers on break at the peak hour of the peak day. It made me feel as though we were in a diner. The wine list is extremely weak. Set your wine expectations very low. Overall, if we are in the mood for seafood, we would try it again.

Frankly, the modern architecture contributes to the noise level, which is very loud. I would have ticked the "Romantic" box otherwise, but I think it's important to be able to hear each other in order to have a truly romantic meal. That aside, the food was exquisite, the service was superior; just the right amount of solicitousness without being intrusive.

Three of us enjoyed our lobster roll...just like we remembered from our last trip to Maine but very pricey at $26.00 each. Delicious onion rings. The fourth person enjoyed his platter of various seafood. Return treat for special occasion only. Read lobster was plentiful this season and very reasonably priced back east.

I've been here multiple times since the opening last year, and I am happy to say that the service and food are still good. My husband and I have tried many different things and every dish is rated good to great. Favorite dishes are the grilled calamari, broiled seafood dinner, wilted spinach with bacon, clam chowder. However, everything is pretty tasty here. And prices have stayed pretty much the same. They still have a nice selection of beers for reasonable prices. If you are not sure which one to try, they offer a beer flight for $10 which consists of 4 predetermined beer choices, from light to dark. They rotate their choices for the flight from time to time. Of note: Oct 6th, they will add happy hour Mon-Fri from 4-6PM.

I was a little apprehensive about Connie and Ted's after reading some negative reviews but we found it to be a very pleasant place with excellent food. Very fresh oysters...although a bit on the pricey side. Service was very good despite what I had heard. It's definately a place for the hip crowd. The only thing I agree with practically every review on is that the lobster roll is on the small side. Overall a fine experience.

When I moved to the West Coast the one thing that disappointed me was the lack of great seafood joints. One would figure, so close to the Ocean, the seafood would all be fresh and amazing. Connie and Ted's adds to my tiny list of amazing West Coast Seafood joints. It's fresh and tasty, accessible prices and nothing disappoints. From the oysters, to the lobster rolls, from the chowders to the clams, fries and fresh fish, everything I've tried has been fantastic. And every time I bring friends here, they love it too!! This is a Hollywood gem that's not to be missed. My only con would be I'm always too full to try to the dessert!! (But I'm fully aware that's my own fault.)

My friend had the seafood boil and really liked it. Quite a variety of beers. Wine bottles were higher priced than expected. Service was friendly and moderately attentive. We enjoyed our evening with friends and where happy to be seated on the terrace as the noise level inside was deafening. We had good service but the food fell short, The oysters were just okay really hard to tell the difference in taste between each one. The lobster was not great neither sweet nor tasty. Bottom line....may be a good place for lunch but I felt it was overpriced and overrated.

When I read that Connie and Ted's was on the top 100 restaurants of LA and had one of the top 10 burgers in LA, I was ecstatic to try it out for my birthday meal. However, after my parents complained about the wine they received (this was my parents' fault), the fries I ate with my meal were absolutely stone cold. Rather than turning my birthday into a miserable experience, I did not complain. While this is certainly not a big issue: I also told the staff it was my birthday, both before and during the meal, but Connie and Ted's offered no birthday dessert. I finally ordered a dessert and then had to ask for a candle. While the staff was extremely understanding, Connie and Ted's was not a nice enough experience to go back.

Chairs are not that comfortable but the food makes up for it. Found it in LA Times Jonathan Gold's 101 Best Restaurants 2014. I can not say that every restaurant in there is good because we've been to several of them and so far there has been 1 or 2 we will NOT go back to BUT Connie and Ted's, we look forward to going back. Smoked Albacore, so good, a must have if you like smoked salmon and all. Grilled Calamari, oh so good. Almost cooked perfectly (different sizes so one or two my be ever so slightly over cooked) but will order it again. Lobster roll, it was good (like every where else) so nothing special so won't order that again. Food is great and worth returning.
