If you don't like noisy restaurants that make conversation a challenge, ask to sit outside. Other than the noise level, the place doesn't put a foot wrong. The service is excellent, the drinks are creative and well done, and the food is fabulous. We've tried a number of items on the menu, and you really can't go wrong. They have one of the best lobster rolls in town, the catch of the day could not be more fresh, and their sides are spot on. Frequently crowded, but it's worth the wait.

The food never fails me here. It's always consistently good. Got raw bar and fish/chips w/ mimosas. Dessert is actually pretty good too (got the apple pie a la mode). Valet is $8.. kinda pricey, but it's convenient. Service is always friendly. I love the outdoor dining. Bar is very lively too. Will go again and again!

We started with some delightful oysters and tasty New England chowder. My clam strips were decent, but the accompanying fries were the last crumbs from the batch. However, my wife greatly enjoyed her lobster, and our service was excellent. Incredible devil's food chocolate layer cake for dessert. The atmosphere is fun and vibrant but too loud to be romantic or relaxing. I'd recommend it for groups.

Get the Rhode Island Clam Chowder - (thanks Jonathan Gold for the rec!) The fish is fine. The spinahc with bacon side is tasty. The burger is great but salty. The french fries taste like actual potatoes - which is good. But I'm never wowed. Why? It's always packed. service is very good.

  • The Best Place in LA for Lobster, Period.

My guest had never eaten New England lobster before (he's from England), so I didn't want to take a chance on giving him anything but the best. We weren't disappointed: he loved his lobster roll. I had a small steamed lobster and (though I've eaten tons of lobster in Boston and elsewhere in NE) thought it was one of the best I'd ever had. I truly appreciate the fact that it was perfectly cooked--i.e., cooked a lot less than most NE places. I also had raw clams--delicious--while he had his very first NE clam chowder. The service was excellent and so were the drinks. All in all, a superb experience.

I was so excited to see sea urchin on the menu! It's hard to find outside of a sushi restaurant but Connie and Ted's has it for a fair price of $18. The food was great but the oysters were a little overpriced at $34 a dozen. I would definitely go back for the New England Broil and hot buttered rolls though!

The food was very good and the waiter was very helpful and knowledgeable. Going on a Saturday, it's extremely busy, and we did have to wait 30 minutes, but that's part of going out on a Saturday. But they did the best they could, and once we sat down it was great.

The raw oysters were exquisite. All the oysters were the same size and shucked to perfection. The lobster roll is New England comfort food but updated - yummy. Catch of the day was cooked to perfection and simple. Seating for 3 was a bit disappointing (table right at the entrance) considering reservation way in advance and flagged as a birthday event.

My wife wife and I booked a reservation for our 6th anniversary. I've spent a lot of time on the east coast, and heard their seafood would "make any east coaster feel at home" so I was pretty excited. Unfortunately, other than the truly fantastic service (everyone was really on top of their game), I found the rest of the experience to be lackluster. It was really loud inside, there were way too many seriously bratty kids running around, and I found the $26 lobster roll to literally be the worst I've ever had. It was oddly bland, which doesn't even make sense to me. I will say the homemade ice cream with hot fudge was delicious, so save room! But for the $120 bill (no drinks), I say go elsewhere if good seafood is what you're after.

But the food was absolutely fantastic. The restaurant was VERY loud. I'd return for the food, but there are definitely some kinks in the service.

The food is good; some items better than others. The pekietoe crab cake is excellent. If you are from New England, the chowder is very good; the fried clams (with bellies of course!) are good, but do not expect them to be like the ones you get in the Boston area, like Woodmans. Batter needs to be crisper-- fry em longer. Fresh fish (I had swordfish) is excellent. Friend calamari is good; same batter issue. Apple pie very good. Service was uneven; it took forever to get the wine carafe; we had our appetizers long before the wine came. The waiter was good, knowledgeable; but never seemed to be around when you needed him because he had too many tables to wait on. Pricey for what it is, but air freight from New England is expensive. Noisey!

I love a restaurant that has a "boiled dinner". We started with buttered rolls and they were good but not as good as the rolls at Rattler's BBQ. next was the broiled top neck. i guess i'm not a fan of broiled clams because they were rubbery. i wouldn't get them again. next was the boiled dinner which i thought was great (the lobster, the mussels, the linguica and the broth YUM!) next a piece of herb rubbed white fish recommended by our waitress that was forgettable, the spinach it came with was great, and we finished with a decent cup of coffee and the indian pudding & blondie which was VERY very sweet. would give it another try if we're in the area but we won't be going out of our way to eat there. the bill: $150 with a caraf of wine, too.

Inspired by a traditional New England Clam Shack this is anything but a "shack". The best oysters, clams and fish in town. If the oysters were any fresher they would still be in the sand. Chef Sam Baxter works wonders with the freshest fish. For fish lovers who moved here from the east coast...he has bluefish. Yes bluefish. That is a fish I missed when I moved here. After five of us polished off four dozen oysters and a dozen clams, the bluefish was the perfect entree.

We've been meaning to try Connie and Ted's for quite a while now (our foodie friends have been telling us it's a "must go" since it first opened last year). Well, it's worth every bit of they hype among the foodies that Cimarusti and Posto's rep at Providence led us all to expect. Well, they deliver. The place is casual, bright, and the patio area is large and comfortable. The food is as good as we were lead to expect (and that was a rather high bar). Speaking of bars, the raw bar is a gem with a big variety. Our advice is just go. You'll want to go back!

Went to Connie & Ted's to celebrate my birthday. Checked in w/ the host & our table was ready a few min later. I kindly asked the host if it was possible to have the 3 of us seated since the 4th person would be getting there any minute. His response to me was filled w/ attitude. Rolled his eyes & rudely stated it was the policy of the restaurant that we had to wait for everyone. I totally understand policy & would have been completely fine with the answer had he said it nicely. For the host to treat patrons so rudely for asking a simple question is unbelievable. A host is the first person customers will see & his attitude definitely left me with a negative feeling before even getting seated. Slow service, great food otherwise.

We expect value for our dollar. A top chef may serve small portions at a steep price but the taste experience itself makes it a good value. At a chow down restaurant we expect a full plate at a reasonable price Connie and Ted's food was mediocre by any standard adding insult to injury serving tiny portions at a steep price. The lobster roll ($26) arrived at our table with a small dish of slaw. It was tin.Steamers arrived with a bucket nowhere near enough to even fill the bucket one-quarter. This pretentious place even did not recognize the birthday in our party requested on our Open Table reservation. In all the years we have subscribed to Open Table restaurants, this is the only time the need to alert you to an awful place has arisen.

I watched the attendant shift cars around the parking lot for 10 minutes and then as he pulled my car up he swiped my mirror against another car mirror damaging both cars. I've placed multiple calls to the valet company and have not received a call back. What was a great experience turned into a negative one. It's a shame, that was one good lobster roll.

It was casual and fun but not a must hurry back to. Manhatten chowder needed more depth of flavor, more of a kick but it was good Rhode Island chowder was disappointing, something, I think the onions or the potatoes had just started to turn. New England chowder was best I have had on West Coast Fish and chips were good, particularly for LA but traditionally, fish and chips are fried in beef tallow, which imparts a distinct flavor, the chips were perfectly ok French fries, but woefully inadequate as chips. Tarter sauce needed capers or shallots or green chili. Desserts were very well flavored but somehow missed the mark. Hands down winner were the buttered dinner rolls.

this is the perfect recreation of the classic dockside seafood shanty. look more carefully and you will see that it's architecture, while masquerading as a "shack" is actually an engineering triumph of what steely pylons and giant wood beams can do to defy gravity. this unique modern piece of architectural art would stand up in any storm. the food is no less impressive, truly five star quality seafood, again masquerading as a casual walk along the proverbial seashore. congrats to "ted and connie," may they live long and prosper in west hollowed.
