A word from Connie and Ted's
At Connie and Ted’s you’ll find simply prepared fish and shellfish, inspired by the classic clam shacks, oyster bars, and fish houses, that dot the New England Seaboard and the Western Coast.

Enjoy one (or two) of 24 California craft beers on tap, while sampling from our large variety of oysters, clams and shellfish, shucked to order, at our Raw Bar. Wind down the day with a classic cocktail at the bar, or enjoy a warm lobster roll outside on the covered, open-air patio overlooking Santa Monica Boulevard.

Effie and Janice acted as our servers on Wednesday, Sept. 17. They could not have been more attentive and knowledgeable. C&T's food is consistently tasty, the seafood is fresh and well prepared. Fried clam bellies are de-lish as was the spinach and bacon. In the past, the servers have not been as hospitable but these 2 were welcoming and made it a very pleasant experience. Kudos to Effie and Janice! I'd ask for their table any time!~

It was my first time and found the place very nice. It was very loud inside. I wonder if the patio would be less noisy. I really enjoyed the fish stew! My friend had the seafood boil and really liked it. Quite a variety of beers. Wine bottles were higher priced than expected. Service was friendly and moderately attentive. I told the restaurant in the revs and when the waiter arrived that it was my friend's birthday. There was not acknowledgement about this.

We enjoyed our evening with friends and where happy to be seated on the terrace as the noise level inside was deafening. We had good service but the food fell short, The oysters were just okay really hard to tell the difference in taste between each one. The lobster was not great neither sweet nor tasty. Bottom line....may be a good place for lunch but I felt it was overpriced and overrated.

The noise level is very high inside. Had it not be 100 degrees outside, dining on the patio would have been more pleasant. Our dinners were delicious though, and we will come again and hope to get a table on the patio.

This is the third time I have had the lobster roll. The lobster is excelent, the brioche roll for the third time in a row has been very dry and not tasty. The chef needs to try Blue Plate Oysterette's brioche to get it right.

When I read that Connie and Ted's was on the top 100 restaurants of LA and had one of the top 10 burgers in LA, I was ecstatic to try it out for my birthday meal. However, after my parents complained about the wine they received (this was my parents' fault), the fries I ate with my meal were absolutely stone cold. Rather than turning my birthday into a miserable experience, I did not complain. While this is certainly not a big issue: I also told the staff it was my birthday, both before and during the meal, but Connie and Ted's offered no birthday dessert. I finally ordered a dessert and then had to ask for a candle. While the staff was extremely understanding, Connie and Ted's was not a nice enough experience to go back.

Chairs are not that comfortable but the food makes up for it. Found it in LA Times Jonathan Gold's 101 Best Restaurants 2014. I can not say that every restaurant in there is good because we've been to several of them and so far there has been 1 or 2 we will NOT go back to BUT Connie and Ted's, we look forward to going back. Smoked Albacore, so good, a must have if you like smoked salmon and all. Grilled Calamari, oh so good. Almost cooked perfectly (different sizes so one or two my be ever so slightly over cooked) but will order it again. Lobster roll, it was good (like every where else) so nothing special so won't order that again. Food is great and worth returning.

Went here after seeing it on 1st Look. The food really is outstanding. The seafood variety is top notch & the freshness & quality was amazing. The oysters were phenomenal, with many different choices to try. Scallops are highly recommended. We also had the Seafood stew & that had a lot of mussels & clams. Great place to bring a group of friends, with a very vibrant scene & great food. Will definitely come back again. Service was fantastic, servers were very attentive the entire time.

My wife and I like to eat at Connie and Teds, however we always like to eat between 6 and 6:30, Every time, at least five times, we tried to make a reservation for 6:30, they say not available that only 5:30 is available. So, we go at 5:30. The place is always empty except for a few other taken tables. As we watch, the place gets a little fuller and always by the time we leave around 7, its still at least 1/2 empty. WHY cant they just accommodate us at out time?

Good selection of tasty craft beers, super friendly staff. But the food wasn't as good as I wished. The asparagus salad was a bowl of salad leaves with a salty mayo and just a few slices of asparagus itself. The stripped bass was very average. Maybe the raw bar is their strong side...

Second time here and overall not very good. The chowder was too spicy and mostly soup and few clams etc in soup the crab cakes are a joke, thin, over fried and basically terrible. Watch out if you pay with cash as I do the waiter shorted me$ 10 on the change and it was obvious it was intentional thinking I would not count the change from a $100. First time I ate here this happened and I gave waiter benefit of doubt. Two times you know patrons are being cheated and management needs to review type of people they are hiring. We wont be going back

First, it's NOISY like being at a fish market. You can't hear what the waiter or your friends are saying unless they scream. Then comes the wine. A 50$ White wine bottle served in pre-school water glass... Leaving the bottle on the table without anything to keep it cold. Even if the place is freezing, it's not enough to keep a bottle cold. the food : I took the shrimps to begin. It was good. And then a Lobster Roll with mayo. It was good also but soooo small you could eat 2. Easy. My friend ordered a grilled fish that arrived unpeeled (even the head was attached), in a small plate, covered with oil (making the process of peeling it complicated). Served with a tiny pot of spinach. So you even have to do the job of the kitchen.

I suspect from the high price, nice decor and service that the seafood is fresh, especially when I see sea caught Albacore brought in fresh from the sea. I would expect the portion to be more substantial for the cost. The fried potatoes for both dishes were over cooked. The taste was good, but the portion was not compatible or worth the cost. I was still hungry when I left.

I'm uncomfortable when you have to shout across the table to talk to your mates. The floors are stylishly concrete, and the chrome/wood/glass décor is chic, but it all adds up to a loud echo chamber and an annoying cacophony in this large, perpetually crowded restaurant. The food was decent, but nothing to justify the crowds. Raw bar is amply stocked with over twenty varieties of oysters flown in from all over the country. The fried calamari was disappointing, with the coating tasting like unseasoned flour. Excellent chowders. Main dishes were spotty; halibut was tough, but the boiled dinner and fish stew were tasty. Disappointingly, the boiled dinner was served without a nice chunk of bread.

Arrived early for our reservation so we were directed by the host to hang out in the patio/bench area where we were approached by a wait person within 5 minutes. Very much appreciated vs. having to elbow our way to the bar. Cocktail was great - smoke & spice (?) whiskey based was very smokey (maybe a little heavy on the honey?) Can't wait to go back for the Angels on Horseback - had I had a 2nd drink I might have used the straw to slurp up the last drops of the pan liquor. Brioche rolls were fantastic - totally worth abandoning my no white flour rule for. And the lobster roll was exactly what we'd been dreaming of - East Coast ideal. Actually a lot BETTER than we'd been dreaming of. Wait person was funny and fast. Will be back!
