Diner Reviews
  • "Enjoyed our dinner last Thursday night. Next to Embassy Suites & Four Seasons hotels on Ben Franklin Parkway. Dining on patio or inside. Attached to the Windsor Hotel. Pub or roadhouse fare."

  • "Burgers & fries were good, but slow service at lunch, had to wait nearly 10 minutes just to get our check. Our waitress was friendly and trying to be attentive, but probably had too many tables for the day's lunch crowd which was less than full capacity."

  • "Good food and service, a nice place to have a really good time for lunch, drinks, dinner or late night snacks!"

  • "not spectacular, but solid. didn't know Guinness should be a multi-pour, but OK nonetheless."

  • "Stopped in for a quick bite and enjoyed my Philly Cheese sandwich. Wings were hot and crispy and fries ere seasoned very nicely!"

  • "We were visiting Philly for a couple of days and friends of ours (also from out of town) recommended Con Murphy's. We ate brunch. Food was very good and the kids enjoyed it. Was hoping for more of a crowd there but it I guess everyone was dining at fancy places or at relatives' houses :-) Would definitely go there again next time we're in town."

  • "They sat us in as quiet a table as possible which was our request on Open Table. However there not remotely a quiet place in this restaurant. There are bars both downstairs with an open balcony to the upper floor and another bar upstairs. Both were incredibly loud to the point that everyone was yelling and we left as soon as possible. This is a bar and restaurant for 20-30s who drink and snort too much and yell all in good fun. The food and service was very good but unless you are wanting what i described don"t go."

  • "While the location is great, and the bar and restaurant are decorated nicely, the service and food were just average. Waitress never introduced herself, and didn't check on us to see if we needed anything. Had to flag her down for water refills and check. Food was Irish pub food but not exceptional."

  • "Sat upstairs where the noise level was just right. Soup was great but the rest of the meal was just okay. "

  • "don't order 'dinners' but they have a terrific fried chicken sandwich, good fries, inexpensive Yuengling and good bar food."

  • "Went there for a work unit lunch - 6 of us. The food & service was excellent. We made reservations ahead of time. We were seated upstairs in the back where we could talk & not bother anyone else. The appetizers are amazing!"

  • "Who expects to be served a Lipton Tea bag at an Irish Pub? The food was lukewarm and the portions were not very large for the prices charged. For example, my omelet didn't even come with toast. Our service was excellent and our waitress accurately described the menu items when asked. Discounted parking is available around the corner."

  • "I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of Con Murphy's Irish Pub's brunch! We chose it because it was near to the hotel where our friends were staying and it took reservations for larger parties for brunch. Great build-your-own omelet, good service, and calm atmosphere."

  • "Chicken carbonara was excellent . Cosmos good, too. Flourless chocolate cake topped it all off nicely."

  • "This was for a business lunch - the food was very tasty, I loved the ceaser dressing on the cobb salad. Adding the meats was a nice touch. The one out of town gentleman with us was there a few years back and said it was an enjoyable afternoon. The waitress was very nice as helpful."

  • "We had a nice dinner here, with great food, but it was exceptionally hot upstairs. Still, we were happy with the menu selection and found it to be a nice place to dine. Our waitress clueless. When my wife, who is gluten free, asked about what was in the risotto on the menu, she replied, "Well, it's pasta, of course." My wife had to explain to her that risotto is indeed made with RICE, not pasta, and that she was inquiring as to the ingredients in the sauce. She said, "Let me check with the chef." When my wife later asked about the chef's response, she said, "Oh! Yeah! Forgot about that...I'm sure it's fine." Ultimately, we enjoyed the food we got, but the service left MUCH to be desired. Get better servers or educate current staff."

  • "Great location for people watching, cocktails and food on the BF Pkwy. Meal was very good. Only challenge was a recurring problem in Philadelphia, the starters arrive with the main meal or not at all. Only seems to happen in this town so much so have begun placing two orders to try and avoid the curse."

  • "I was so suppose to meet a group of friends for lunch. We met outside of Tir Na Nog and I decided to Con Murphy's would be a better choice. We had the Crab Cake Salads -- perfectly appealing and filling. Great for business dining, Visited May 2013"

  • "The restaurant overall was good. For an Irish Pub; however, I was hoping for more traditional Irish items to choose from. The shepard's pie was good but some bangers and mash or corned beef & cabbage would be a nice addition."

  • "Nice Pub atmosphere and good Pub food. Live music and a private party upstairs and a pleasant bar crowd. Will definitely return! Slainte."

  • "I took a "first date" and we had a blast. It was the Friday before St. Patty's Day and they had an Irish band and a young Irish dance team. We had such a good time we completly lost track of time and ended up having a 7 hour date. Needless to say it went well. Went for a nice dinner at 6 and didn't leave until 1:00AM. It made for a memorial first date. Thanks,"

  • "I originally made a group reservation through open table, then stopped by to check out food, etc a few days before our scheduled group meal. The atmosphere was unpleasant, dingy and dark and the food i had wasunremarkable. Therefore i cancelled the Open Table reservation"

  • "I was a bit disappointed in the food... I had Beef Stew and there was a serious lack of vegetables... it was mostly beef. It's an irish bar... I needed potatoes! My husband had the shepherd's pie.... again... nothing to rave about. The desert was lovely... a bread pudding with a sauce whose name I cannot recall. The wait staff was wonderful... very friendly ... very attentive. we had an early dinner so there wasn't much of a crowd for dinner and the bar area was just starting to get busy when we left. I like the location of the restaurant... and the drinks were superb... and can't say enough about the staff. We were just a wee bit disappointed with the food... nothing real special about it."

  • "Food was good yet service was slow. Also parking was validated yet not accepted for lunch. When paying for a lunch for $74 for 5, parking should have been free or at least at a reduced rate as a patron."
    Dined on 1/2/2013
  • "The food was average at best. And the service was spotty. It's a great place if you're with a large group, but a poor choice if you're dining alone."

  • "I enjoyed the Reuben, but the fries were overdone. The weather was beautiful, so I sat outside. Overall it was nice, but it was a bit awkward when the panhandlers would ask for money and/or food."

  • "Showed up at 1230 on a Saturday after visiting Franklin Institute. Food was good but they were only serving from a brunch menu. We were assuming lunch at that time. Nice Irish ambiance. Kiddy grilled cheese came with tomatoes which was not listed on kiddy menu and we felt odd for a kid's meal."

  • "Went for the first time on a date with my friend from Wash. DC. He enjoy his food and I enjoy everything , we were up stairs in the back and we like that, gave us a place to chatt over dinner. The service was every good."

  • "We were staying at the Windsor Hotel and decided to have dinner at Con Murpheys. It was a clean pub with an Irish accented hostess. We were seated on a second floor loft that overlooked the downstairs and outside. The server was attentive and our food was prepared quickly. We both had steaks and they were both cooked perfectly. Beer was frosty. They are a pub so they didn't have much for mixed drinks outside of whiskey, so be aware if you're into that sort of thing, but they did have a nice selection of wine, beer, and whiskey."

  • "Went there for brunch with my parents and husband for Mother's day. It was okay, but I was disappointed that they appeared to be serving a limited menu, either in honor of Mother's day or the Komen race - there was no indication on the website (or I missed it) that the full menu listed on the website would not be available. The food was good, the cocktails were great, and the service was prompt and courteous, which I appreciate. All said, when we go out to brunch, it's usually a special occasion and this is not a special occasion place - much better for casual morning-after-drinking brunch than something special."

  • "We were a large group and were accomodated really well. The food was good pub type food - nothing fancy or gourmet but good. It turned out to be the perfect place . Our numbers kept changing and they were fine with that. Overall a good experience."

  • "Very warm environment. The owner Liam greeted our large party and was very hospital. Most of the staff are from Ireland. Live Irish music played not too loudly. Great place for a center city happy hour. Also has outdoor seating."
    Dined on 4/16/2012
  • "Thought the place needed to be cleaned and had a bit of an "old oil" and beer smell. Food was okay and the homemade ice tea had a funny taste to it, almost as if the "old oil" had seeped into the tea. While the staff was cordial, they were not readily available and when we asked for more ketchup for our fries, it was sometime before it was brought to us. May explain why it was not that crowded on a Friday at lunchtime."

  • "Good sandwich and salad options, food was great, service was great. Quick on the refills, very friendly. A lot of televisions to watch sports. My only complaint is that the music was very bassy, and a little loud. Conversation was still possible, there were just a lot of "what's?" ....but even still, great joint! Try the fish and chips!"

  • "I recently hosted a lunch for a small group of work colleagues at Con Murphy's, and it was perfect for what we were looking for - good selection of salads and sandwiches, accomodating of a larger group (9) and quiet enough that we could talk as a group and hear one another. I will definitely be back."

  • "It was st Patrick's day and the place was packed with an exuberant young crowd. Hard to judge what the place was really like"

  • "Typical upscale Irish pub. That used to be an oximoron, but it seems that most Irish pubs have become yuppified. Pleasant, comfortable setting, capable servers, good - very good food, a suitable offering of beers & a limited but well-chosen wine list (example; instead of the typical Mirassou or over-oaked La Crema, they offer Angeline Pinot Noir!) Personally, I think the food & service are better than its local restaurant chain competition; Tir Na Nog, and not as crowded. Con Murphy's is the place to meet and socialize after work, or (like us) for a group of out-of-towners to settle in for an evening of conversation. You don't go to an irish bar to be humbled by the kitchen, you go to enjoy yourself, and Con Murphy's fits the bill."

  • "I was glad to find a place in the dining program that served breakfast/Sunday brunch early so I could spend the day at the art museum. I had the Irish breakfast. Overall, it was good but the potatoes were bland and I discovered the sausage link was burnt on the underneath side when it shifted on the plate while I was cutting it."
