  • "My dad turned 93 and wanted a special place to go for dinner. We thought the Compass would be great for the view. We loved it all..... especially the service. My parents were treated royally. Our waiter, John, sang and dessert came as a surprise!"

  • "Great view but food was to salty and greasy i could not finish my steak, the onion fries were to greasy with no crunch! My husband ordered the salmon he said was very good so we shared his meal. We were there for the view! :o("

  • "We dined at Compass Arizona Grill on July 4th. After volunteering to move us away from the table with three bratty kids, our evening became memorable. From our first server (don't remember name) to our new server John, the service was first rate. They were courteous, helpful and not hovering. The food was excellent. Maybe the best steak and salmon we've ever had!! I will recommend the Arizona Grill to everyone I know."

  • "The server I had never splain the menue or explain anything he was more interested on the table of 6 next to us all he did was take our order and the bill but the table next to us got his anivaded attention went to there table 7 times I ran out of my drink not till he gave me my bill once I was done eating that he offered to refill it my bill was 75 left him 10 dollar tip for bad service but I check my bank account it says 90 dollars was taken out its still processing just waiting for the final process to see how much was really taken out"

  • "You are mainly paying for the view at this restaurant, which is incredible. The food is so-so. The best courses were the salad and dessert course. The main course was a bit disappointing. My husband and I ordered different entrees and both were fairly under seasoned and the meat was a little under cooked. He asked for his steak mid rare and it was rare. My pork tenderloin was pretty pink. I know tenderloin is left with some pink in the middle, but mine had too much pink. The service was really good. All in all it was a good experience."

  • "Took my daughter to the Compass for her birthday. We had an amazing time and the food/atmosphere was great! I am a single parent so I can't afford going that often, but I hope to return after I win the lottery!"

  • "but the food this time was not the value I have come to expect. 36 $ for a NY strip.... i want to see it not covered with inedible potato fries what the heck where those potato slivers? . Others in the party had the food stacked like pancakes potato- bean- fish....wow whats the chef thinking- plating of the food was horrible, predictable and the potato inedible, Corn bread was seriously dry, Food was as average as it gets...when you pay premium you expect premium....I could have done that at home for a party of 4 and probably done a better job. No passion in this food....Go for the view."

  • "We went to the Compass Grill for the first time to celebrate our 44th wedding anniversary. It was a perfect evening. Enjoyed the sunset from a table by the window and the food was delicious. Service was outstanding. We loved every minute."

  • "The location and atmosphere were wonderful. The young lady that served us was so friendly and personable. The food was just so so. My husband and I had the salmon and it was over cooked and dry and the mashed potatoes were very plain and stiffened up quickly like boxed potato flakes do at cheap restaurants. Many places serve mashed and they are something you can jazz up so many ways, garlic, poblano chiles, curry, spring onions, etc. yours had no flavor. The pace of dinner is also so slow to invite conversation but this seemed uber slow."

  • "The food was okay, i ordered the salmon and ive had better and for cheaper. But only reason its worth every penny is the enviornent and the view, it is a really romantic place to dine. Its worth every penny."

  • "Compass is an awesome place to go and have dinner with a friend or special someone. It's quiet, calm and leaves u with a perfect view of Phoenix. Great services offered"

  • "The restaurant is very beautiful. The view is outstanding. Jerry & all the servers were terrific. The food was good, but the steak (a top sirloin) was very tough. Not what I expected for this restaurant and the price that was paid"

  • "When we arrived, the staff were very warm and friendly. The ambiance was incredible. We ordered our food and the appetizers, soup and salads were truly out of this world good. Then our main entrees came....we both ordered the center cut New York steaks. They were absolutely terrible. Both of them. They were tough, over cooked with not much flavor. Being that we were pretty full from appetizers salad and soup that were so good and it was such a good evening, we didn't want to complain. When I got home, I had a leftover steak in the fridge from the Keg the prior evening and after eating it as a leftover, I was surprised how much better I thought the leftover steak from the Keg was than the steak I had that evening from Compass Grill."

  • "Our reservation was at 7 -- perfect for viewing sunset and the night lights of Phoenix metro area. We had seven people, including one 12-year old. Our server, Jerry, was great and very attentive, but not intrusive. She made recommendations and helpfully answered questions so we could get the right menu item for the 12-year old. We all had different dishes and with the exception of a steak that had to be sent back to be a little less red, the food was fantastic. This is not an inexpensive outing, but well worth it for the ambiance and food. Along with dinners, we all had cocktails and shared two bottles of wine, plus dessert and coffee. With tip, the bill was $587. Well worth it for a great family evening!"

  • "Ms snook-cook, the manager, asked us to quiet our two year old, who was celebrating Father's Day, despite the fact that other tables of laughing adults around us were just as loud. We had disturbed nobody. Also, my steak was delivered well done when I had ordered medium, and the shrimp were underdone. The only great thing about this meal was the view."

  • "I have dined at the Compass Room before and had an amazing roast chicken. My entire party was disappointed at the quality of the food on our last trip. My food had no flavor, I ordered the Seared Pork Tenderloin. My Husband ordered the Filet medium rare and had to send it back....it was barely seared...very rare. For the amount of money we spent, we should have had a quality meal.....very disappointing. I don't think we will go back."

  • "This is the place to take a date for a great first impression. The place is quite, with great ambiance and romance. The food is phenominal with a spectacular view of the valley. Sunset is magical with the awakening of the city lights!!! Wow!!! Happy hour is from 9-11pm. A Phoenix must do!!!"

  • "We went late on a Friday night for a glass of wine as part of our anniversary date. We had been before and we're glad to go again. The wine list is extensive but the server helped us pick the perfect wine. And we mentioned it was our anniversary. We received a complimentary dessert. And the plate was decorated with chocolate to say "Happy Anniversary". Nice touch. Great evening. We will certainly go back again."

  • "I've dined at Compass AZ grill several times. Overall good experience. I was not aware that Comicon was happening during this time; so other than the additional noise that is normally not there, it was still a good experience."

  • "If you're curious about geography and history, like quality food and service, the Compass Grill is for you. It combines a great atmosphere with good food and service, yet it does not sit back on its unique location and one of a kind view to carry you away. The service was personable, the staff was knowledgeable about the menu, and the ambience was what we expected."

  • "Took my wife here for her 46th birthday. It was lot first time and we were amazed the moment we walked in. The waitress was incredible and made our experience wonderful . The food was beyond incredible from the appetizers to dessert . The waitress even wrote happy birthday in chocolate on my wife's desserts along with a candle . We can't wait to go back for our 20 year anniversary . Definitely a 5 star restaurant "

  • "This isn't the first time I have visited the restaurant and I am sure it will not be the last. I have come everytime for the celebration of my wedding anniversary and this time I was able to bring my cousin and his wife who were also celebrating their anniversary. We enjoyed it so much and they thought it was fantastic!! Thanks again for making our special occasion even more memorable."

  • "We had a group of 10. About half of us had a decent meal but the other half were served cold soup, uncooked vegetables and steak with no flavor. This time of year it may be best to wait until sundown to dine with all the windows. Many had to wear their sunglasses at the table! Not a great experience for the price point. "

  • "We had tickets to the Billy Joel concert at US Airways arena and I chose this restaurant for its proximity to the arena. I didn't have much of an expectation about the food but I thought the revolving view of the city would be interesting. It was and the food turned out to be a pleasant surprise. The menu is a little limited but what they serve is well done. My sea bass was very good. The service was good even though the restaurant was packed. It's a bit noisy because of all the glass. Don't think of going without a reservation."

  • "I surprised my wife on our 6th Anniversary with dinner here! 7pm perfect time to watch the sun go down, wonderful staff, our server was perfect. Food excellent, I got the Top Sirloin, like butter. My wife got the Sea Bass, amazing! They gave us a free dessert, with Happy Anniversary in chocolate around the rim of the plate, we got the Blueberry Cheesecake, outstanding! "

  • "The view was amazing! The atmosphere in the restaurant was great. The waiter and service was exceptional. We definitely plan to eat a the Compass Arizona Grill room again. And this will be a restaurant we plan to take out-of-town guests to when they visit us in AZ. This place was great. The salmon dinner meal was delicious, much better than other restaurants that I've ordered salmon at. The steak dish was comparable to other steak restaurants. "

  • "Awesome views, hidden secret, great food. Be sure to ask how you would like salmon to be cooked. Wife ordered and it was medium rare, server stated this is how it is cooked, server never asked how she wanted it to be prepared. Server asked about how I wanted steak prepared. I mentioned this to server, she stated this is how it is prepared, she would buy dessert. Funny thing is we were celebrating her birthday, dessert was free anyway. Server even mentioned that once she brought the dessert. I would definitely recommend, just be sure to tell how you would like prepared. "

  • "Loved the atmospher and view however we had reservations and they wanted to sit us at a table that had a view of people eating directly in front of us when there were many open more disirable and private tables available. We did finally get one of those tables but it took pursuading to get the tables. Other guests had to do the same thing. We also had poor service waited fifteen minutes to get our first cocktail. Recommend view but that's it."
