A word from Company
As you cross the threshold at 1000 Guerrero Street, you'll enter a cozy space with a playful, vintage vibe. A casual, neighborhood spot with warm, friendly service where you can enjoy honest, good food crafted with care.

We hope to celebrate the bounty of our beautiful state, California, which provides so much for us to enjoy. Our menu rolls with the seasons, eagerly adding newly available produce while bidding farewell, until next year, those favorites whose growing season has expired. We aim to support our local growers, dairies, artisans, vintners and ranches who all contribute top-notch products that we are proud to serve in our restaurant. We may occasionally indulge and incorporate something special from the other side of the country or even across the pond because it's delicious and worth sharing. But our hearts belong to California. We hope you will enjoy and look forward to serving you.

Diner Reviews
  • "...good food, good service, cozy & friendly...what else is there?..."

  • "I looked forward to checking out Company, but was disappointed. Maybe I was there on an off night, but nothing was good. The blackberry and ginger cocktail I ordered on the strong recommendation of the waitress was compleley tasteless. The food, which took a good hour to come out of the kitchen, was equally uninspiring. I had the mushroom risotto, which had been promoted as a new Spring addition to the menu, but it tasted like it was out of a box. My friend who ordered a medium rare burger got an overlooked piece of rubber he couldn't even finish. My other friend ordered the sole and needed to request some lemons from the kitchen to give it at least some flavor. Not going back."

  • "Solid execution. Amazing flavor combinations in both their food and drinks. Great cocktails (though they don't have a full bar). Everything I ate there was excellent."

  • "Nothing stood out- white beans with the fish were not soft, fries not crisp and lots of empty tables. Had gone several months before and had a good meal, perhaps chef change or general downhill slide? Waitstaff was friendly and competent if not super professional."

  • "We really enjoyed the dinner. I especially like the warm ricotta appetizer. The ricotta was made on-site."

  • "We selected Company based on Open Table reviews and we were not disappointed. We dined early prior to attending a play-- the restaurant was pleasantly quiet and comfortable. Food was terrific. We would definitely recommend and return."

  • "Sometimes i don't feel like eating in and just go out for a quiet dinner by myself. Tonight was one of those occasions, so i hit Company for the chicken wing appetizer, tender and crisp and dressed in a pomegranate reduction with rosemary and black pepper. And then a new item on the menu, sauteed scallops on a bed of tiny black lentils, a combination i'd never had that worked very well. A very pleasant dining experience even without having anyone to share it with."

  • "A great place to have a nice dinner on a weeknight. Servers are thoughtful and attentive. Food - just tasty. Their pasta and bread are made in house. Special note to those who live in the area: An awesome place to stay away from the hustle of Valencia corridor."

  • "We were there on a not-so-busy night but the service was still poor. My friend ordered wine and realized mid-meal that they hadn't brought it so had to go find the waiter. Super nice staff just slow / forgetful Food was good though."

  • "Wonderful crispy kale, breathtaking ricotta, best lamb shank i ever ate anywhere. All in a warm and pleasant setting with good service."

  • "I've been to Company a few times for dinner and the food is always so well prepared. Great flavors—great ambiance—great service."

  • "We had such an amazing experience! We were early for our reservation and they sat us right away. From the moment we walked in the door the service was incredible! the food was spectacular! We will definitely go back!"

  • "The pasta was good but the sauce was much too heavy and salty. Service was inattentive - we were seated and then 20 minutes later were asked for our order. We had to ask for our water bottle to be refilled three times over the course of the meal. We won't go back nor will we recommend it to friends."

  • "No resounding recommendation this time, but will come back. It's a good neighborhood basic. Service was a little slow this time. Other tables came and went while we were still there. That was okay, but the waiter didn't communicate much about what was happening. I do like this place...but can't rate it much more than Good (which sometimes is just fine)."

  • "Lovely neighborhood bistro with infinitesimal kitchen that is very well managed. Lamb shank - Wow!, Fettucine fatto in casa! No spirits, but wicked clever wine and cordial cocktails. More grown up than most of Gourmet Ghetto."

  • "Cool space, fun/creative menu, something for everyone. The service was pretty mediocre ... our waiter did not really know what he was doing, but it didn't take away from the experience that much. One of the most interesting and fun items on the menu was the kale ships. Outstanding! Of the small plates, we ordered: Brussels sprouts (good), chicken wings (too sweet), grilled squid (good). Big plates: Cod (very good), lamb shank (excellent), risotto (fair, too much cheese). I will probably go back."

  • "Company is a neighborhood cafe with gourmet food. The service is personal and many of the patrons seem to know each other from the neighborhood. The vegetarian options are plentiful. The cauliflower soup and the roasted beet terrine were absolutely outstanding. The small wine selection is nicely curated. if you're looking for an alternative to Valencia Street madness, walk one block over and visit Company!"

  • "Love this restaurant; will stop by when in the neighborhood, or whenever we want a consistently delicious meal. Detail in preparation is definitely a cut above the average neighborhood restaurant, and always feel welcome and satisfied when we leave. New Years' Eve prix fixe was a great deal and super delicious. Tues/Wed nights 2 for $20 is one of the best deals around."

  • "Company has an outstanding menu. My only complaint is it can be a bit pricey. Also, we went there for New Years Eve dinner, and they had a prix-fixed menu but you could also order a la carte. And for at least one of the entrees on the prix-fixed menu, it was cheaper to just order the individual items of the a la carte menu. So that was lame. But otherwise, I really like this restaurant. Their fish is really well cooked and their pot de creme desert is great."

  • "We live within 3 blocks of Company (our neighborhood's referred to as a gourmet ghetto), and we've dined often at a dozen or more hot-spots within 5-minutes' walk from home. Most of them work extra hard to appear trendy, hip and innovative, but Company's cosmopolitan air is easy and unaffected. Company's menu is imaginative, without being weird. The ambiance is lively, but not deafening. And Company alone has never, ever served us a disappointing dish! Seafood is a standout (the squid is tender and mouthwatering). Steak frites? Mais oui! Seasonal risottos are perfect, the salads fresh and flawless -- and don't leave without dessert (best Panna Cotta ever). All this in a most welcoming space that makes you feel...like Company!"

  • "Food was very good, but took over 40 min to come out, and the restaurant was only 1/4 full! Waiter was nice enough, but borderline sarcastic and did not bring the extra condiments that I requested, and took 30 minutes to bring my friend another beer that he ordered. Overall, not a bad spot if you live in the neighborhood, but I definitely wouldn't make a special trip, or come here again for the prices they charge."

  • "This place is under the same management as the previous Vietnamese restaurant that was at this space, Tao Noodle Cafe, but with a completely different menu, chefs, staff, and ambiance. And it is much improved! We live around the corner and as much as we wanted to support Tao Noodle Cafe, we just had better choices. Company, however, is a lot easier to support. The food is excellent and ambiance is much improved. The prices are a bit over-priced, but unfortunately that seems to par for the course in SF these days. The staff is friendly, but we've been here about 3-4 times and have consistently seen average or below average service; they just can't seem to keep up and we're always having to flag somebody for more water, drinks, etc."

  • "Came here for dinner on Saturday night. It was a good thing we had a reservation as the restaurant was very busy. We got a few appetizers- I'd recommend the warm olive plate. I had a salad for dinner that had quinoa, pomegranates, and grapes and I thought it was delicious. My companions had the burger and fries which they said was good- the fries were kind of spicy, actually. We also had the spiced almonds and the cheese platter which were fine but nothing to write home about. All in all, the quaint atmosphere was nice and the food was good, the service was a little slow. We had to ask for more water a few times, but other than that, I enjoyed the dinner here."

  • "Arrived on time and was seated by a friendly host. Unfortunately, the server wasn't as personable or friendly. He actually told us to place our orders so he "could get us out on time" which left us puzzled and upset. He was inattentive and left us with empty appetizer plates for a long time despite the restaurant not being completely full yet. We ordered a bottle of "champagne" which arrived without an ice bucket (like the other table next to us had) as well as drinks; we had to remind him to bring the diet Coke for my partner so not sure why that was so difficult to remember. My roast chicken was OK, but dry around the edges. My partner's burger was a little overcooked but edible. Everyone else thought their food was OK."

  • "I've been going to Company since they opened in September 2012 and it's been great every time. What I especially love is that chef Jason Poindexter puts equal care into fine, well executed cuisine, and beautiful presentation. I think of Company as a neighborhood restaurant, which means it's comfortable, reliably tasty, and NOT an over-hyped mob-scene. But one down side that I experience in a typical neighborhood eatery is unremarkable presentation and nuance. Not so with Company. The food experience is like that of a hot-chef destination, but in a comfortable, relaxed, neighborhood setting."

  • "Our party of 5 had a great time and felt well taken care of by the staff at Company. Seasonal menu items like the butternut squash soup and salad with figs were yummy. Main dishes of salmon, chicken and risotto were all excellent and the chocolate pot de creme and panna cotta desserts we chose ended the meal nicely. Even had a limoncello to top it off! Felt right at home with the service, food and wine, and thought it a great value."

  • "Amazing amazing food. We made a reservation the day of but service was VERY VERY slow. We had great food but our waitor was a little weird and didn't even do things like bring bread quickly when he knew and told us the food would be a while."

  • "I live in the neighborhood and was pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed my dining experience. The food was great and I want to go back to try other items on the menu. The grilled squid, chicken and homemade pasta were wonderful. If I could have licked clean the bittersweet chocolate pot de creme I would have! Wonderful conclusion to a great meal."

  • "I was really excited to try this place but I was sadly let down on so many occasions. First my reservation was for 8:45. They didn't have any tables until 9:30. The excuse? "These things happen" When we finally got sat we waited for about 15 minutes to place out order. Overall food was less than mediocre, service was less than "less than mediocre" . I will never go back. The only saving grace? A decent mint pot de creme"

  • "Wow, Company is just outstanding. Best meal I've had in long time. They found the right balance for everything. It's stylish but comfortable, gourmet but not pretentious. And incredibly friendly staff. Everything exceeded expectations, from the salads and apps to the entrees to the desserts. We kept asking "where did you get this bread?" "Where do you get your ricotta?" The answer to everything was "we make it here." I mean. Just so delicious. Get there soon to have the heirloom tomato salad. (Hard to add to the pleasure of an heirloom tomato without ruining it, but of course they find a way here.) The subtle but wonderful sauce on the steak frittes should be bottled. The swordfish is just perfect. I can't think of a bad thing to say."

  • "No one really checked on us for quite some time, both before and after the food came. The food was pretty bland in general, nothing particularly exciting about it. I also found 3 hairs mixed in with my fries. Once a waiter came by, I quietly pointed it out, not making a big deal about it. He kindly brought us a dessert on the house, which no one ate because it wasn't very good. I used to love this place and it's really close to my house, but something has shifted. I went back again two days later, and although the server was really nice, he didn't come around much and didn't get the order straight and it was apparently the kitchen's fault because the chef was running late. I don't really understand that, but so be it. Won't be back."

  • "after booking and arriving, i realized i had eaten there before. clearly it was not memorable. this time was memorable ... for missing the mark. 1) i asked about the aperitifs, specifically which was closest to campari. the server/hostess told me to order the vermouth. really? 2) food took a long time to arriave 3) food arrived cold (i ordered steak frites - even the fries were cold. how hard is it to time fries to arrive warm?) told them about it. they were apologetic. they offered dessert gratis. that was nice. it was panna cotta. it was ok, not great. anyway, left pretty underwhelmed."

  • "The food was good and very interesting. But they seemed to forget we were there. After our appetizers came, we had to wait 15-20 minutes to get the wine. And then when we wanted to order more wine, we could not get the attention of anyone. They were nice enough to let use move away from the speakers playing loud music."

  • "We arrived on time for our 8:15pm reservation, and three out of four of us immediately ordered drinks which took 20 min to arrive. Our orders were taken slowly, food service was slow, waiter didn't refill waters, waiter suggested that "when you go out, sometimes drinks take a long time if you don't order all at the same time" (really? what does that have to do with your service being slow?), waiter ignored us for 45 min at a time, finally got our food which was fairly tasty but did not make up for poor service, and finally wrapped up our meals by 11:30pm i.e. MORE THAN THREE HOURS AFTER WE SAT DOWN and not because we were trying to take it slow."
