I came in May and had a totally different experience on this dinner. My family was in how for my birthday and I selected the Columbia to go celebrate at. I get that it's a little louder there, but the server never brought my soup, my meal came out wrong, and he didn't seem to care about his mistakes. He may not have heard me as I ordered, but then he should have asked. He never said he couldn't hear me, so maybe he just wasn't listening to me. It took forever to get food on a Tuesday night and while it tasted okay, it wasn't really hot. So, yuck service, wrong food, and not really hot leads me to not go back.

Our party thouroghly enjoyed the dining experience at the original (1905) location. Beginning with warm Cuban bread served with whipped butter, we followed with fried calamari. It had a light cruncy coating spiced well to complement the sweet and very succulent treasures inside. We considered using the accomaning dipping sauce as as spread for the Cuban bread and having a calamari po' boy! We tasted the range of offering from seafood, beef and chichen. All were cooked to perfection, moist tender and spiced with a mild palette in mind, tastey but not overly spiced just the way Cuban food is meant to be! The service was attentive, even with a busy night. Dinner for 3 ran $120 excluding beverages and tip. Highly recommended! We'll be back.

We had an out of town guest that had never been to Ybor City or eaten at the Columbia. As usual the Columbia was great. They sat us in the patio. The service was phenomenal. Our two waiters were funny and attentive. We had the 1905 salad that was made at our table. The Cuban bread was hot and delicious. I had the Pallomia steak and it was tender and tasty. My wife ordered a grouper special and was very happy with her meal. Our out of town guest thought the restaurant was beautiful and the food was awesome. Thanks Columbia you a make Tampa special.

My boyfriend and I had a lovely experience, as we have had during other visits together or individually with other groups. We had the Pollo Riojana, which was luscious and tender. The tostones and beef empanadas also are quite good. It is worth the extra dollar or so to get the version of sangria with imported wine and brandy. For those who have not visited, the ambiance is gorgeous: ornate rooms of architecture and sculptures, live flamenco dancing in some rooms (or maybe one room as I recall), and authentic historical Spanish menu and atmosphere. The only downside was that our server implied dissatisfaction that we shared a meal, two appetizers (originally intending one), and a pitcher of sangria. Other servers seem less insistent.

The food and service were both excellent. I would highly recommend the Columbia to any visiting the Tampa area. It was well worth the hour-long drive from Ruskin, Florida. The surrounding historic district is well worth some of your time, as well, although it looks as though it might get a little weird as the evening goes on.

We had a reservation for 5:30PM and were seated promptly; however, it was on a Tuesday and it was still early. Our waiter appeared new and after asking him, he had only been in the area for 4 months. He tried very hard to do a good job but it showed he was nervous. He ended up dumping a tray on my guest after he had cleaned up a table near by. There was no harm done, he and the asst. mgr. were very apologetic offered to pay for cleaning but nothing immediate. I felt more could have been done. I would give them another attempt and possibly wear protective gear.

The Columbia Restaurant is still a beautiful landmark in Ybor City. Yet, while the signature salad and sangria were delicious, the entrees were extremely disappointing. They were bland, overcooked, and sloppy. We were pretty shocked at the plating. Food was spilling over the sides of the plates, and everything was just sort of piled on. My family has always loved this place, so we're hoping that it was just an off day.

Really appreciated being seated in a quieter dining room, as requested in my open table reservation request. The service was very enjoyable, I loved our handsome waiter. The food was so so... I had the meluza a la rusa, and there was more breading than fish. Also, we wanted decaf cafe con leche and they didn't have any because of some mixup on the coffee maker, so we had to have regular decaf coffee. It was a very good experience overall, which is what I usually experience at the Columbia.

We had been to Columbia before and really enjoyed it. This time, I think they were overwhelmed and the food fell short. There was a wedding and 2 very large groups. My husband and I both ordered fish, and both were dry and fairly tasteless. My son had the roast pork and was happy with it.

We had a great time at the Columbia. We had a table for 6 booked for 3.30 and we ran into car trouble. We were late for our reservation and we called to let them know we would be late and they still managed to accommodate us even though we were 30 min late. This would be my 3rd or 4th time at the restaurant. The service and food was great, we took our family visiting from Scotland there for my SIL birthday.Everyone complimented the food, the restaurant and the quality of service, they were impressed. The kids enjoyed it as well. I think the only thing we all commonly 'complained' about to each other was that our appetizers and our meals came out too close together, we were still eating them when our entrees appeared.

If you are looking for a unique dining experience, try The Columbia! Family owned for generations, wonderful ambiance, very professional waiters, and a family ownership that seems to genuinely care about their legacy, their patrons, and their planet. I was touched by two wine offerings commemorating beloved family pets and the fact that a portion of the proceeds go to research for animal cancer research. Their commitment to sustainable fishing is also noted in their menu. When I made our reservation through Open Table, there was supposed to be an option to select the Flamenco show. I explained to the hostess that I could not find it. Even though they were extremely busy, they found a way to accommodate us. Very good meal. Fabulous!

I have been coming to The Columbia since I was a little girl, and I can honestly say this was the first time I ever left there feeling disappointed. I had requested the central area to eat since it was a special occasion, but they put us in the back in a small, cramped room. It took the waiters over 40 minutes to even bring water to the table, and another 30 minutes past that to come back to take our order for dinner. It was my daughter's 23rd birthday, and I felt so bad for her. The food was substandard and greasy. There were seven of us there, and only two of us said the food was acceptable. I am not usually one to complain over service and food, but this was absolutely horrible. So sad.

We sat @bar first before dinner reservations. Bar svc not that great. Had to ask for silverware after our appetizer came. Had to refill my glass w/wine from bottle I ordered. They gave you minimal toast points w/the queso...which was not that good. When we went to go be seated to our table...no one takes the wine to your table...you get to not only carry the bottle&drinks thru restaurant but you have to go outside &next door to other section if you are watching flamenco show. When you go next door there's no protection from bad weather either. GREAT EXPERIENCE! One big upside....Jacob, server at dinner. He was great. food-hit or miss. crab cakes v. gd,meatballs gd, seafood casserole not great & the "famous" salad-nothing special.Show is fun
