Wife and I were spending the weekend in Tampa and celebrated our anniversary at the Columbia. We enjoyed the food, highly recommend the stuffed piquillo appetizer. The paella was delicious with fresh seafood and the service was top notch. When I made the reservation on Open Table, I had indicated it was our anniversary. Sure enough when we were seated we were given a "happy Anniversary" card and later a complimentary desert. We did the dinner and flamenco show, which I highly recommend as well. After the show, we asked one waiter if he knew the name of the last song, which had our daughters name in it but was of course in Spanish. He didn't know but he took us back first to the dressing room and then to the kitchen to look at the playlist so we could find out. Just a great evening.

Can't say enough about the Columbia. We made reservations through OpenTable arriving about 15 minutes early. Even though other people were waiting, they took us to our table within less then 5 minutes. Our waiter couldn't do enough for us. Wonderful attitude, very happy and cheerful, made you feel you were the only ones there. He knew the menu answering every question we threw at him. We order the white sangria which honestly was the best ever! It was made right at our table. The food altogether was superd. It was a perfect night! It has been quite awhile since we've been to the Columbia and after this past expereince, we'll be back very soon.

The food was in the best chicken ever category but the service was way below par for the price. Our waiter hit a woman in the head with a tray and also hit my shoulder with a cream container sending it to the floor and breaking it. The cost of the meal was high and the service basically ruined the great food. We had to wait for a table even with a reservation, not busy at that time either. We wont return.

Had a close friend come to town so I reserved a table online. As I could not locate the option to sign up for the Flamenco show, I contacted the staff who assured me I had reservations for dinner and the show. However, upon checking in I was told my reservations were only for dinner. After waiting for 30 minutes past our reservation time, we were placed upstairs in an empty room despite the fact open tables on the ground floor were clearly discernible. After the waiter brought out our drinks, it took him another 50+ minutes to come back for refills. Our entrees were not served until 1.5 hours after placing the order. I know this place has a great reputation, but it was the second time I have had a bad experience with them in as many visits--and I am not a picky diner. I will never go back.

The bar area is great. Wine is not impressive and food is overpowered with garlic and salt. I take people to this restaurant only because is a landmark. The flamenco show is a good addition; however is far from being authentic. There should not be a charge for it.

As usual the food was amazing as it always is, but the paella seemed a little salty. The server was quiet, but good. The problem is that I stated that it was our anniversary when I made the reservation, when Columbia called to confirm, and we mentioned it to the waiter. They did nothing special for us, and they usually give you a nice Flan after dinner. Nothing was ever said like happy anniversary...nothing and I blame the front check in who saw our reservation. The response I received from their management was that they were going to basically admonish John, the waiter and send him back through some customer service training. We were not offered anything to come back so they could make it up to us...nothing. I was and am VERY upset as Columbia is one of our very favorite restaurants. We have decided not to celebrate another birthday, holiday or anniversary there again. It's amazing that no matter how wonderful their food is...and it is, it's the service and front desk area that can turn you off from returning. I was told that they had no flower service, but would send a flan out...not only did they not offer us a flan, but I found out from their management that they do, in fact work with a local florist who would have accommodated me.

I feel like it is worth going for the ambiance. The food is average the service was not very good at all. It was my husband's 50 th birthday and I was told when I confirmed my reservation that they would bring my husband a complementary flan and sing. I would not have to say anything to the waiter for this to happen. After dinner, I was expecting this but the waiter brought the check instead. This is not the first disappointment when it comes to service. Twice after making reservations for dinner and the show, I was promised stage side seats and we ended up stuck in the corner where we could not see much of the show. The food and atmosphere are fine, they just need to get their act together regarding customer service.

Service was great but food temperature not the hottest. The other issue with not giving 5-stars was the table size. We had four adults at a 4-top and this had to be one of the smallest tables I have ever sat at. We were seated in on the first floor in the garden area. Outside it started raining and surprisingly, the roof started leaking on my wife.

We enjoyed our visit to the Columbia restaurant. The food was very good, with exceptionally attentive service in a unique and historic building. I had the three tapas selection as my meal, and had the best meal of our group. The mussels were exceptionally good, with a well spiced tomato broth. The crab cakes were excellent, and the pollo tapas nicely prepared. Combined with sangria, it was a great meal. And the Cuban bread was fantastic. My colleagues all enjoyed their meal as well. The historic ambiance and black tux clad waters all added to the overall rating. Just a fun interesting place with good food.

The salteado dishes have simply gone down hill. They were mostly green peppers and onions with meat and charizos being minimized. The floor show is no longer authentic flamingo. However, it is still somewhat worthwhile to out-of-towners.

I picked the restaurant just based on online reviews and for once they nailed it. What a great restaurant in a historic building that has housed this restaurant since 1905. The shrimp stuffed with blue crab were heavenly...served with flavorful rice and a broccolini side dish. The key lime pie was as good as its story...made from key limes grown on trees brought as seeds from Key West by a great grandmother of the owner in the 1800's. I don't get to Tampa often, but when I do, I'll be back.

I hosted a large group of out-of-town family members for lunch at the end of a wedding weekend. It was the first time many of them had been to the Columbia. All had a fantastic time, and raved about their lunches and the four pitchers of sangria we put away (both the cava and the red!). I highly recommend the Columbia for a unique, special dining experience. Our servers were quick, friendly, and helpful, and the atmosphere, even at lunch, was festive and joyous.
