  • "Great lunch - scenic surroundings - just a fantastic place to take friends and out-of-towners. Food was great............BUT THAT CUBAN BREAD was out of this world."

  • "Food was outstanding. Every dish was perfect. Michael was our server. He was knowledgeable, courteous, and had an outstanding personality. Excellent service...we never had to ask him for anything...he was on top of it all."

  • "Not just one of the best Cuban Restaurants, it's just flat out one of the best restaurants, period. Service was very friendly and professional but just a tad bit slow."

  • "We always take out of town guests for lunch and everyone loves it. We enjoy for dinner also. It us kid friendly but in a good way, no one running around and acting up. Table side salad and sangria are must. A unique experience...don't miss it. Reservations are a great idea...never have to wait."

  • "Wonderful ambiance- fantastic historic setting - the food excelled our expectation. Terrific table service and the sangria was also a pleasant surprise. Gracias."

  • "This is by far the best of all the Columbia restaurants. The decor is beautiful, old world charm. Our server was a true professional, which is very difficult to find. We ordered salad with our fish entree. All of it perfect. For dessert we had bread pudding. It was as good as any of the best in New Orleans. We will go again."

  • "Superb dining experience -- as always one of the best restaurants in Tampa. Slight menu change as the Cuban Manhattan has been taken off, but bar tender still knows the secret recipe!"
    Dined on 7/5/2014
  • "The Columbian is a must whenever we travel to Tampa which is a couple times a year. We enjoy a Mojita at the bar prior to eating the best Piaya (sorry about the spelling) anywhere. See you next visit."
    Dined on 7/5/2014
  • "Recommend that you order the Cuban sampler. It included an empanada, Cuban pork, boliche, rice and black beans plus plantanos. Pair that with the sangria and you will feel like you are in old Habana."
    Dined on 7/4/2014
  • "Restaurant recognized my mom's 88th birthday with a card and flan/candle. The overall service and dining experience was excellent."

  • "If you want to see the live flamenco show, be sure to call and mention this. Luckily we were able to get a table for the show when we arrived. We booked with Open Table and there was not an option to select a table for the show and the hostess told me we should call if we have a special request. It was fun and the food was delicious."

  • "I've been to this location on business several years ago, but decided to share it with my family on a recent trip to Florida. The place did not disappoint! The food and atmosphere are excellent. Definitely a memorable dining experience!"

  • "I have dined in Sarasota, Celebration, and Ybor City twice. Each restaurant is unique, but I was disappointed in the food quality on this one occasion. The salad had way too much dressing on it. The lettuce was soaked and saturated. My chicken was overcooked. I'm not complaining, because every other time I have dined there, the food has been excellent. Just a bad night I guess."
    Dined on 7/3/2014
  • "The flamenco dance show was the highlight. Would highly recommend."

  • "Had a wonderful time at The Columbia to celebrate our "7th" wedding anniversary. The only thing that took away from the ambience was the discord between the servers concerning the seating of their tables. As patrons that are trying to enjoy a milestone in our lives we would have preferred to not overheard the bickering between the servers. This sort of disagreement must be discussed behind the doors of the kitchen."

  • "Though we made a reservation days in advance & there were numerous better tables when the hostess seated us,wife & I were seated at a table on the upper level way back in a corner which was like sitting in a dark hallway. No ambiance at all & other guests were continually being ushered past us while we ate.My Mahi Mahi was very overcooked & nothing special at all.My wife loves mango,so she ordered fish which was supposed to have a mango butter sauce, but she could not even taste mango in the dish at all.Our waiter did not bring any bread to our table throughout our entire meal, even though he told us he was bringing some after he took our drink order.Columbia is overrated & over priced for what you receive. In our opinion, just a tourist trap!"

  • "It was a Sunday night, so it was quiet and not busy. There was no live entertainment as we had hoped. The piped in music was awful and distracting. I would expect music that fits the theme, not modern pop. The only criticism of the food was my wife's shrimp dish. It was far too spicy (hot), unlike what she expected. The server offered to replace but she did not want to wait. She could only finish about half of the dish. The service was very good."

  • "My wife and I never visit Tampa without a visit to the Columbia (though the same goes for Sarasota). The 1905 salad and any of their superb entrees are not to be missed . I live in the Fort Myers area and am still hoping this family-owned restaurant will expand there!"

  • "1st time dining at Columbia's. My wife and I were celebrating our 39th anniversary, and we both enjoyed the food, and the experience."
    Dined on 6/28/2014
  • "Always a hit! Even when the restaurant is slammed, which is always the case, the service, food is exceptional. Make a reservation!"

  • "I love the Columbian Restaurant in Ybor City so I may be somewhat biased. The show was excellent, the entree good, (too salty for our taste), the dessert was outstanding, (bread pudding), the 1905 salad, (always our favorite), the sangria too watery, (too much ice in the pitcher), all in all still loved being there and would do it again and again. My mother's cooking didn't always hit the mark but I kept going back! One of a kind and that alone warrants return visits."

  • "In Tampa on business. Went there on a Wednesday night. (Reservations recommended on Weekend nights and to be safe on weekdays). All of Ybor City area was quiet. Columbia was all but full. Says a lot. Great service and the Food was fantastic. 1905 salad made tableside and Paella. Add the Cuban bread and the sangria (red) and the meal was great. Will be back."

  • "I had resereved a patio table to meet a friend whom I had not seen in quite awhile. We were looking forward to catching up with great food and atmosphere. The entrees were excellent as usual- BUT -- Our waiter did NOT ask what we would like to drink. My cake was NOT fresh. The noise was so BAD we had to yell at each other to be heard. The waiter had to be told twice that I wanted a TO GO order. The reception area was very HOT."

  • "I am 66, a Tampa native & have been going to Columbia as long as I can remember. We retired out of state but enjoy going to Columbia whenever we come back to Tampa several times a year. This evening was a special occasion birthday & anniversary. I was so disappointed in the food as it was not at the caliber we are accustomed to. Also on this visit the service was not good......salads 2 minutes before entree, cold bread, & incorrect sides. My parents were good friends with the family for many years before all of their deaths & I always look forward to eating at the Columbia when home. Next time I don't know"

  • "On a Friday Night, managed to get a stage side table for the show which was a surprise. Wait staff seemed a bit short handed. Food was warm but no hot. Service was not timely and had to wait considerable time to order second drink, and for the check."

  • "When I have people fly into Tampa for meetings I always choose Columbia ........and why wouldn't I"
    Dined on 6/25/2014
  • "Food was good and wait staff was top notch! I ordered their famous salad and my husband had the delicious paella. They also have a reasonable kids menu."
    Dined on 6/23/2014
  • "The food was not seasoned. But not much is outside of my Cajun country. I was shocked to know after I received the receipt that I was charged $6 per person for the show. No heads up. With the high cost of their meals, I thought it would be no cover for the diners."
    Dined on 6/23/2014
  • "This was my first visit to the original Columbia restaurant despite having grown up in Tampa. Food was very good. Service was slow to start, but improved greatly as the meal progressed."
    Dined on 6/21/2014
  • "We were upstairs which was slightly too dark (hard to see menu), but that was so minor an issue in comparison to the wonderful food & nice and professional staff. The Columbia is without a doubt one of my favorite places to dine."

  • "This is the first time we visited this location. We have been to the St. Augustine and the Sarasota locations and also had a fantastic experience. All I can say is that this company MUST have a very thorough training program for their servers and only SPECIALITY gourmet chefs! The food, the ambiance and the service was all OUTSTANDING!! This is the first time I tried the 1905 Salad.....OH! So wonderful and tasty and I can't wait to enjoy another one!!! Our table had 3 of us, so we ordered a picture of Sangria, which was also delightful! We ALWAYS order the Chacho and it is always such a delicious experience! If you want a great 5* restaurant, go here and you will NOT be disappointed, yet you will savor the entire experience!!!"

  • "The place was jam packed when we arrived on time for our 5PM reservation. Although we had to wait over thirty minutes to be seated, it was well worth the wait. The service was excellent all throughout; I failed to confirm for the 7PM show as indicated on the website but, they found us an excellent table without hesitation. The food was exquisite; I have been halfway across the globe and dined in different countries and the cuisine here is superb. The Flamenco show was very, very good. Will return very soon."

  • "Made my reservation for 8pm and didn't get sat until 40 mins later with the hostess continuing to tell us when were next up but calling more parties after parties. It was terrible. Our waitress was amazing and the food was outstanding."

  • "The dinner show (Tango and Flamenco dancing) was truly outstanding and a great value for the price."

  • "The food was excellent as well as the service. Look forward to going back."

  • "We made a reservation using open table and specified that we wanted to be seated in the patio room. Our reservation was confirmed by phone for the patio room on the day of. When we arrived they acknowledged our reservation and tried to seat us in the back of the bar. I said "no thank you, we made our reservation for the patio room" and then we were seated in the patio room, where there were lots of tables. Spanish bean soup was delicious. Bread was awesome. Three of the four dishes we had were great. One dish was awful, loads of salt and terrible tasting shrimp. Dessert was great. Service was slow, but friendly. Atmosphere was beautiful, classy, historic, and outstanding!! Probably a little overpriced, but would defiantly go again."
