  • "Food was great, Jeremy our server was knowleagle with the dinner menus and very attentive. The restaurant is quite large, and even though I had made reservations for a party of four. We had to wait about ten minutes so don't be in a burry"

  • "Columbia had been recommended by a friend, we had made reservations for our first night in St. Augustine at Columbia. It was so good we ate there three nights later after cancelling previous plans to eat at a different restaurant."

  • "This restaurant was recommended by a friend and did not disappoint. Not only was the location perfect for us, but everything about the restaurant was outstanding....the service, the ambience and the food. The gift shop wasn't too shabby either...I loved all the Spanish pottery."

  • "Restaurant was highly recommended. I would definitely go back . All foods by myself and friends were very good. Presented nicely and waiters ( 2 visits) were both fun. They enjoyed their jobs. That says a lot. Must have white sangria!"

  • "We went to your restaurant because of a recommendation of a friend. It was a special night because it was our 45th wedding anniversary. The good comments would be that the steak my husband had was good and the mussels that our friend had were good. The sangria was wonderful. However, the salad was a big disappointment it was soggy with too much dressing and the shrimp I had were deep fried over rice that was over cooked. Our service was not good, we felt very rushed and our waitress was not having a good night. She did try to make up by the end of the evening and offered us a free dessert. The restaurant was very noisy. We had hoped for a quiet relaxing dinner with friends but that was not our experience."

  • "There were 6 of us, my husband, his 4 sisters and me. We had a variety of food. Everyone enjoyed it very much. The Sangria de Cava is our favorite! We always have the 1905 salad and the Spanish Bean Soup. The 1905 dinner salad is large but you can order a 1/2. There is always something on the menu you will enjoy!"

  • "We go to Columbia every year we drive through St Augustine, but this year was a dissapointment. The food was fair and the sangria didn't have its usual flavor. I hope this isn't a sign of things to come and I hope this was just an off night for them. The service was off as well. Our server was slow, but the other wait staff kept breaking plates and glasses in the restaurant. I think we may look for a different place to eat next year unless I somehow put this out of my mind by then."

  • "As always Columbia restaurant delivered the delicious entrees we always expect to find. In addition to their entrees we enjoyed two pitchers of their Sangria de Cava, fresh cuban bread for each person in our party, and our birthday girl even got a piece of flan with a candle in it followed by the wait staff singing in spanish. If you've never been... stop making excuses and see what you're missing."

  • "Last year, we enjoyed our visit to The Columbia in Ybor City (the original)...so when we put together our trip to St Augustine Beach, we knew that we wanted to try their sister restaurant in Old City. We were NOT disappointed. The food was absolutely terrific and Carlos made our dining experience something special. Be sure to put The Columbia on your Bucket List. I'm sure you will be glad you did."

  • "We thoroughly enjoyed our dining experience at Columbia. Waiter Russell was must helpful in guiding us through an extensive menu. We settled on sharing a 1915 salad and tapas (scallops, calamari, and empanadas) with white chocolate bread oudding for dessert. The sparkling sangria was excellent too!"

  • "A friend of mine took me to The Columbia for the first time on 4/5/14 and WOW, what a fantastic place. Everything from the ambiance, the staff, food etc was great. We started with a carafe of Mojito's made table side, followed with crab and chicken croquets and topped it off with Paella! Holy moly was it a great night of food! Oh and who could forget the freshly baked Cuban bread, mmmm so delicious. I cannot wait to come back and try one of the many other dishes The Columbia has."

  • "We usually go here at least once a month when we visit st. Augustine and I've never been disappointed... The waiter forgot my drinks order but that was ok, it happens and he did give us a free dessert. Problem was the food. Both my son and I had steak, he got the Delmonico and I had the filet. Both were dry and mostly tasteless. Mine was unevenly cooked to medium rare and was serves with three slices of fried potato. I love Columbia and their paella is amazing and I'm sure we'll be back. This time however it was not up to the usual standards I've become used to."

  • "We were looking for a romantic spot. They paid close attention to my reservation detail and seated us in a quiet nook. When we received a warm friendly greeting and were seated right away. Our table was quiet even though they were busy. Our waiter Jeremy was outstanding and guided us through the wordy menu and our dining experience. The entire staff was very friendly and very accommodating. The food was amazing, and what I would call plate licking good. If I hadn't been in a public place I would have picked up my plate and licked it clean. There was warm crusty Cuban bread served with butter. The house sangria which was amazing the 1905 salad which was a meal in itself and the Marilyn & Joe Saltiado, and churros. It was amazing!"

  • "I first starting dining at the Columbia in Ybor City with my parents in 1948 when I was 12 years old and have dined there or their other locations for the last 65 years. We have lived all over the country, but every time we got to Florida The Columbia Restaurant was on the top of our "must do" list. We moved to Jacksonville in 1996 so we now eat at their St. Augustine location once or twice a month. We HIGHLY recommend it to everyone."

  • "This restaurant is one of those rare places that manage to have ambiance, good food, good service without costing a fortune and without the restaurant seeming like its full of itself. You feel like you've been invited onto a Latin American Plantation home. It's furnished accordingly with picture of the owners mixed in on the walls with art while being served delicious food by an attentive staff. My wife and I chose this place on a whim while on a weekend getaway. Some parts of the restaurant would probably be a bit crowded and noisey at peak time a but there are lots of tables in out of the way nooks I'm sure you could request to be more isolated for a romantic dinner. Well definetly come back or maybe try one of the other locations."

  • "This restaurant is one of my favorites in Old St. Augustine. If you go you've got to get the 1905 salad! If you have to wait for service once seated, don't hesitate to get someones attention."

  • "Simply OUTSTANDING ! We celebrated my wife's Birthday this past saturday at The Columbia , everything was perfect and smooth according to plans , from the moment we got into the restaurant we fell welcome . The food was great , perfect to the palate , the sangria very refreshing but over all at the end of our experience my wife walked out of there with a big smile and her face and very happy with her Birthday present ."

  • "We love eating at all of the Columbia restaurants. The St. Augustine site is equally delicious. How can you go wrong at a place that serves you a personal loaf of Cuban bread for starters?! My kids have loved the Columbia since they were able to eat solid food. It is a hit with everyone in the family."

  • "Outstanding mojitos and Sangria that accompanied delish gambas ajillo (garlic shrimp) Several in our party chose the paella. While it was good, there could have been more saffron in the rice for our taste. The rice barely displayed any saffron being in the dish as it was an offwhite, instead of yellow, color. The dish was tasty and filling. One ordered easily shared between two people. We also had the signature 1905 salad. Hot Cuban bread enhanced the meal as well. Our party of 8 had 7:30 dining reservations and we were the last ones out of the place. A good time and good meal had by all."

  • "We were 6 for dinner. We had made reservations for a 48th anniversary celebration through Open Table but they couldn't find the res. so we waited. I had a copy of the confirmation with me. The waiter was not truthful when he said he asked the chef if the dressing in the Caesar salad was gluten free. After our Celiac child started eating it, the man who seated us told us that he checked and it is not gluten free. The chicken in the Paella was overcooked and tough-.couldn't eat it. There was no sausage even though the menu stated sausage in it. They also were out of saffron so they cooked the rice without it..... obviously, it didn't taste like Paella. The steak was requested medium by one of our party and it was very overcooked."

  • "We had a great experience! I had never been to the Columbia before but my boyfriend had eaten there on a prior trip and suggested we go . I made reservations online despite the mixed reviews and decided we would give it a try. We arrived on time for our reservation tand were seated immediately. Our waitress was wonderful! As we made our.dinner selections delicious warm Cuban bread was delivered to our table, it was so good, I could've filled up on that. The rest of our food was also great! Would definitely try again or recommend!"

  • "Restaurant in the middle of the historic, tourist section of St Augustine. Food are very good, service was excellent. Be sure to make reservations if you can to avoid having to wait. The restaurant is big, different sections have better ambiance, my favorite is half way up the stairs, to the back. Authentic Spanish cuisine, very good meal, outing in a very touristy area. I don't think you would be disappointed."

  • "I made reservations online at Open Table, you can find it through their website. It was for a birthday occasion, so in special request I wrote, "Best table available". We arrived about 20 minutes early, and were sat in about 5 minutes. Only complaint, the hostess showed us to our table, but there was a better table in the corner. I had to ask if we could have that one. She had to "check" with front hostess, and then came back and said that would be fine. Other than that, food was excellent!!!!"

  • "Booked a reservation for 6pm for 2 adults and 2 kids knowing we absolutely had to leave for a commitment by 7:30. We told our waiter (who took 10 minutes to get to our table) we had to leave by 7:30. He said he would make it happen. We had our salad about 50 minutes in. At 7:30 our food was not at table and our waiter was no where in sight. Left money for our salad and drinks with another waiter and had to leave hungry. If you cannot get a meal for 4 to the table in under 1 1/2 hours when the restaurant is not packed and when the waiter is told ahead of time about a time frame, then we will never be back. Could not even get kids chicken fingers out in an hour and a half ??? That is unacceptable."

  • "So glad to find that the quality of the food is back. The food at Columbia had gone down hill. They were trading on their reputation. They have a new, larger menu and the food was really good. Their were 4 of us and all of our dishes were delicious."

  • "The 1905 salad is legendary and the meal would have not been complete without it. The menu is varied, many dinner sizes and smaller portions are available, bread is beyond fantastic and the wait staff is knowledgeable, professional, and very, very, good. I absolutely recommend this restaurant."

  • "Having recently bought a house in nearby Palm Coast, the Columbia has become our favorite place to eat. We have eaten there at least 5 times in the past year."
    Dined on 3/20/2014
  • "This is a fabulous restaurant with a Spanish-infused menu. Our waitress, Margo, was outstanding. The Columbia has a unique and entertaining twist in that the wait staff mix some of the menu items at the table such as the sangria and some of the salads. My husband and I had a paella and our daughter had the arroz con pollo. Both of these dishes are easy to cook badly resulting in soupy or under cooked rice; but at the Columbia, both were cooked expertly and were delicious. The Columbia can be pricey, but they have a varied menu including tapas which allows you to spend as much or as little as you like. When you are in St. Augustine, make sure you save a night for the Columbia."
