Diner Reviews
  • "The Columbia is a wonderful place for lunch or anytime. The portions are plentiful and the quality of the food and service is outstanding. When is St. Augustine, make sure the Columbia is on of your stops."

  • "Love the Columbia, but as I have said in reviews time & again, Columbia is a hit or miss. When the kitchen is on point the food is delicious, but like this visit, it was not. We frequent the St. Augustine restaurant because of convenience, but also love the decor. If you can, I would suggest you go to Celebration. There food is mostly on point. Haven't had the opportunity to try Columbia on the Florida west coast. Still waiting to get to Ybor City."

  • "1905 salad was great as always, and I tried the crab cakes which are delicious... none of the fake stuff! and of course sangria!"
    Dined on 7/8/2014
  • "A memorable meal in a beautiful location. The paella was outstanding. Sangria was a hit also. Salads are big! We went in a friends recommendation and it was our favorite meal."

  • "Over priced, terrible service, horrific food! Steak was spoiled, both chicken dinners were dry, paella was awful. Worst experience EVER!!!!"

  • "There were six of us, and we all enjoyed our meals and drinks."

  • "We visit St. Augustine several times a year and this will now be one of our regular stops! It was our first visit and we tried the Tapas sampler and enjoyed everything and of course the Sangria."
    Dined on 7/6/2014
  • "The food and drinks were great and our waiter was spot on and chatty. This place is a must for reservations, expect an hour wait without one."
    Dined on 7/5/2014
  • "The food is always terrific at any Columbia Restaurant. Just know that his one in particular is likely to be full of large families on vacation. It was very loud and crowded this time, and the wait staff needed roller skates to be faster."

  • "The pitchers of mojitos(with sugar cane) are awesome, the espresso is delicious. We had tapas and it was just an all around fun experience. This is my second time going and I know I will be back. So much fun."

  • "We waited almost 40 minutes, with a reservation, portions have been cut in half. The paella plate my father had was horrible, so small. Our appetizers were $60 &you could barely feed three people when we were a party of 8, and had waiter assistance ordering. One of our appetizers was like a Spanish Bruschetta. It was served on a small bread dish. I was very disappointed as wasmost of my party. The portions are tiny, and I felt like the food wasn't as flavorful as it use to be. Maybe it's because they were busy that the food lacked that Spanish flair. I don't think I would recommend them again. We had 8 people(2were children) we went for lunch approx 2 pm. Our bill was $310 and most of them left hungry. Just NOT what Columbia use to be."

  • "We had 7:00 reservations and the lobby/waiting area was stuffed with people waiting for a table. The hostess said she would text me when our table was ready. I noticed that outside there were scores of people with their phones in hand waiting for texts. Thank goodness I had the sense to go elsewhere because I never received the text. If they don't honor reservations then they shouldn't make them."

  • "We make it a point to visit this restaurant several times a year. The food is always amazing and they have some of the best staff around. This visit was no different for us. They are sensitive to our special needs as our youngest has a severe food allergy. My little girl actually requested that we come back as she stole half my plate of Paella during this visit. The Sangria is wonderful and we're looking forward to our next visit."

  • "Have been to St. Augustine many times but this was a first for Columbia Restaurant. All we can say is that it was AWESOME ! The food was out of this world and the service was the best. My family came for a visit from California and have done nothing but rave about our wonderful culinary experience at Columbia. I would highly recommend this restaurant for lunch or dinner, for individuals, couples and families. We thoroughly enjoyed every bite....not to mention the sangria was over the top good. We are definitely going back - again and again."

  • "We've been to Columbia's at two locations and we have never had a bad meal or experience. Only thing I could say negative and most would say it's really a positive, is "too much food." It's so beautiful and cool and relaxing inside and the staff is always attentive and the food is so delicious. After roaming amongst the hub-bub and heat outside, going to Columbia's is like entering an oasis."

  • "We ate in the bar on the 2nd floor. Approximately 15 tables. Very pleasant. no children. nice atmosphere--cozy. 2 dining rooms on the first floor were very noisy--good for kids and elderly (no stairs). mussels appetizer was mediocre--VERY small mussels but chorizo sauce was good. albondigas was tasty. two of us had an excellent filet mignon with potatoes and asparagus but the "good rice" looked and tasted like leftover rice beefed up to sell. one order of shrimp wrapped in "thin" bacon (very thin!) and one combination plate (forget which one)--beef on it was good. House wines not available. Waiter was rude and in a hurry. the table of 6 next to us was treated VERY well by our waiter. We decided not to stay for dessert."

  • "Food is consistently delicious. Portions are great and the service is always good. We've eaten at all of the locations, and this one is our favorite spot. Can't wait to go back for the 1905 Salad!"

  • "I was looking forward to our trip to St. Augustine and to the Columbia to celebrate my birthday. All was everything I expected except my choice for my main course. While it was beautiful, plentiful and vibrate looking the shrimp was terribly salty. Like it had been overseasoned by mistake. I didn't complain, or send it back and I'm sure they would have done this, but continued on with dinner, wine and a pleasant desert. We are going back in September and we'll definitely give it another try."

  • "Good atmosphere and kid friendly. Their salad is very tasty. My children enjoyed their fresh sandwiches and desert which was fired flamed tableside."

  • "My husband was celebrating his birthday on June 20 and I made reservations ahead of time for this special occassion. The Columbia restaurant went above and beyond to help us celebrate this event! The food was outstanding! My husband wanted piella and he was especially happy that the Columbia restaurant had several from which he could choose from. I loved the chicken and shrimp combo dish in a lobster bisque sauce served with yellow rice. The waiter was attentive and friendly and even arranged for the other waiters to sing Happy Birthday to my husband when he was presented with flan with a lit birthday candle. It made my husband's birthday extra special! I highly recommend this restaurant and look forward to dining here again."

  • "While the food is yummy and varied enough to be a gem...being in the heart of a tourist area made it hard to embrace romance. We attempted a romantic dinner...but the young families and sunscreen covered walking tourist vibe made it hard to be cozy. The food was wonderful and the salad awesome...just better for a night out setting than a romantic night out."

  • "Haven't been to the Columbia restaurant in almost 40 years, since I went to the one near Tampa on a business trip. No way to get back since I lived in N. Va. Now that we have moved to Florida, I chose to take my bride there for our 54th anniversary. Of course, it lived up to both my memory and my expectations, my wife approved as well."

  • "it's a lovely setting. service is great. though the food of course sounds wonderful it fell a bit short, especially for the price paid. The flan was very good. I don't know that I'll go again."

  • "The menu has been updated and now includes some nice tapas. The salad is always great. I can make a meal on that alone. We brought home some guava turnovers and had them for breakfast. Note: For a while, I thought the food was not up to par, but it is back and delicious."

  • "We have eaten here many times. It is our go to place for entertaining out of town guests. 5hey never disappoint The food is excellent. We love tapas and the selection is amazing the food is well prepared and beautifully presented. The paella is some of the best we have had outside Spain."

  • "Something was missing in the 1905 salad. The Grouper Jimmy was "meh", the pork in the cubana combo was dry. And drinks were not being kept full. A little disappointed but not enough for me to stop coming. Sangria was good. Atmosphere always rocks."

  • "This Columbia Restaurant is nothing compared to its sister in Tampa. The food was OK, though dessert was outstanding. The service was quite good and the decor lovely. The tortilla espanola seemed to be a fluffy egg fritatta ... just egg. Nothing else. Last time I checked, the egg is supposed to hold the potato and onion together. VERY disappointed since this is one of my favorite dishes. The paella was OK but they are stingy with the saffron and don't crisp up the bottom ... that's the best part! The bread pudding was awesome. In a nutshell ... go there for dessert after you've had dinner elsewhere unless you know nothing about Spanish or Cuban food. You may love it if you've never had the real thing."

  • "Had a great time at the Columbia Restaurant. The food was superb - all the way from the appetizer to dessert. Our server was right on top of things, but not pushy. We felt that we were given the time to really enjoy our food and each others company - even on a buys Saturday night."

  • "We had Sunday lunch. Michael our sever delivered impeccable service. The kitchen accommodated our request for the made-to-order "dinner version" of the chicken & yellow rice-absolutely delectable! The dinner version is moister & more mellow than the lunch pre-cooked version. We had the sparking cava sangria without the liquor due to the dry county Sunday morning law. It was fruity & light. Enjoyable. The bread pudding is to die for. Moist with chocolate shavings & rum sauce. What a perfect ending to an unforgettable meal."
