  • Pass on the brunch

We like the Columbia Bar for lunch but would not recommend brunch. We were the only people there this past Sunday until a party of 6 showed. Food was in the warming trays. The handles were stoking hot with nothing around to pick the tops up. I grabbed some napkins behind the bar, folded them and placed them on top. Bacon and seafood pasta were good. Pancakes and french toast were waiting for customers too long. Fruit was a mix of canned/jarred and fresh. Desserts seemed prepackaged. At $16.95 pp I would pass.

The Fourth was also Beer Club night. Good selections with more taps on the way. We had a group of 15 and they did a great job of accommodating us, although not that it was a terribly crowded night for the restaurant. Things were a little rough at times but for a large group things went fine. Only complaints I heard about the food were that the veal was somewhat tasteless and the kitchen needs to do a little better job cooking burgers to temps below medium well (i.e., rare and medium rare, repeat offense from prior dining experience so cannot be attributed soley to the large group). We recommend it and will return.

A group of us stopped in for dinner and we were treated to fine service and good food. AND, we got the lowdown on their Beer Club that meets on Wednesday nights for a burger and beer tasting. We're in!! They offer good specialty cocktails and a fine selection of wines by the glass and some good beers on tap with more craft brews on the way. Their varied menu offers a variety of salads, steaks, veal and seafood and some interesting appetizers. And the bar is VERY cool! We would recommend it and will be back!

had a great time. quiet enough our newborn slept throughout dinner but still a vibrant entertaining atmosphere. had the goat cheese and rosemary stuffed chicken which was excellent. split the sui mai and cheesesteak spring rolls which were also very good. my friend had the au poivre special and loved it. our table also got the shrimp arrabiata and the goat cheese arugula salad which i was told by my friends were very tasty. server was very attentive and got our drinks in a very timely manner. bartender makes strong but very good rum and cokes and mojitos. thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. will be back soon.

Once again we went to the Columbia Bar & Grille for dinner. It was excellent!!!!! I really enjoyed the Filet which was cooked to perfection, my wife LOVED the crab cakes, best she has had since we were Maryland. The service was great and Josie the bartender made perfect martinis before we were sat for dinner. WE WILL BE BACK! I can't wait until our next visit!

Mothers Day Brunch was very disappointing. Pancakes were burnt - actually blackened. The steak roll ups (?) were very dry. The omlet and roast beef carving station were left unattended numerous times. The only bright spot was the waitress was nice.

We had high hopes that this would be a good experience since we were celebrating Mothers Day but unfortunately it was not... The upstairs dining room where we were sat was like a sauna... the food was being served buffet style but we were given no instruction from the hostess and then no server arrived for some time...addressed the heat issue with the server who did not seem too enthusiastic to truly deal with the problem..started to overhear other patrons complaining of the heat... Had our drink order taken and then got up to serve ourselves the buffet food... most pans were empty and completely picked over...what food was left in some of the pans looked completely unappetizing ...we unfortunately choose to leave at this point

Made a reservation via opentable.com the day before for a lunch celebrating a family event. Came in and had a private room as they could tell from our request for a high chair that we had a little one who may want to run around. Which was great as it provided peace of mind that we were not bothering other diners. Great service, decent food. Would definitely go back!

I took my wife to the restaurant and we had a great time. The cheesesteak spring-rolls were light and flavorful and unexpected since they were... cheesesteak spring-rolls. My wife had Shrimp Arribiata over linguini which was fantastic and I had the Filet Au Poivre. The service was a bit slow, but we were there early and more wait staff arrived about 1/2 hour into our meal.

Not impressed. When entering had to walk through a group of smokers on the porch, sat down at a table with no tablecloth or candles on table, ordered scallops as a main entree and received five small one on a full plate of rice and left with a bill over a $100. Not worth the money and a big disappointment. Plenty of great dining in area. Don't stop here.

Finally checked out the Columbia after years of assuming it was for an older crowd and a little pricey. Pleasantly suprised to find this not to be the case. Bar had a nice mellow atmosphere good for one on ones. Had the crab bisque and the scallops which were both very good and reasonably portioned. My friend had the strip steak which was cooked perfectly and had a very nice sauce (I think it was a balsamic demi). Greatly appreciated our server who seemed relatively knowledgeable about the menu but when she wasn't sure, she went to inquire in the kitchen for us. Finished the meal with housemade cheesecake which was excellent. All in all had a great time and thoroughly enjoyed our meal. We will definitely be back

My husband took me to the Columbia Bar and Grille tonight for my birthday dinner and we had a great time. The service was fantastic; our waitress took really good care of us. We received our drinks and food in a timely manner. She knew we wanted a romantic dinner so she didn't over do it with constantly interrupting us. The food was absolutely AMAZING!!! To say everything was delicious would be an understatement. This was my 6th time at the Columbia and the food is consistent every single time. I look forward to going back for dinner again soon!

Just wanted to share our wonderful experience my husband and I had on Sunday at the Columbia. We went for their Sunday brunch buffet and we pleasantly surprised by the selection and food quality. We were seated in the dining room which featured a cozy fireplace and romantic chandeliers. We sampled a little of everything from the buffet and found everything to be tasty as well as the signature Columbia cocktails we ordered. All and all, great food and great service. The Columbia Bar & Grille is our go-to neighborhood place. The food is well prepared classic American and interesting items that are fun for everyone. Great Mussels, excellent salads and seafood specials and bar bites. Love the vintage cocktail menu that fits right in with the history of the building. Great food at a very affordable price. Looking forward to the outdoor patio soon.

The overall atmosphere was great. The Columbia has a beautiful dining room and awesome bar. Unfortunately, the service was slow and the food was fair and not worth the price. I had the filet, it was a bad cut and not as tender as it should be. The mashed potatoes were the consistency of paste. It took forever to get drinks. Although I would recommend Columbia for drinks at the bar, the food fell short of what I expected for the price.

We experienced a lackadaisical approach to service here on Easter Sunday. The food was fine, but people seemed to be going through the motions, and didn't seem to care about the diners. The restaurant was half empty, and we were seated at a small table in the doorway, and didn't see anyone for close to 10 minutes after being seated. I can't recommend this place for dinner, but they do have a nice lunch in the bar and the service is much better.

We went to Columbia last Easter and had a nice time. They had a special menu which was quite good. This year however they had a buffet and the selection was not very good at all. There were limited selections to say the least. The staff was not very pleasant at all. Our waiter got us one set of drinks - two bloody mary's and a mimosa and that was the last that he asked if we wanted anything. No coffee, tea, etc. at the end of the meal. Very disappointing. I would not go back next year.

We had Mussels for an appetizer – they were tasty but a bit small. Presentation and entrees were superior – Filet and a Fish. The only problem we had was the service. We had mentioned to the server it was our first time at the restaurant and needed a little assistance. What we got was rolling of the eyes, and “everything was good – just pick one.” The wine list was mediocre at best, all in all we will go back but will expect better service!

Very disappointing trip to this restaurant for an occasion with elderly in laws. Service was not attentive, the room temperature was very cold and drafty, and the restaurant was not isolated enough from the bar noise(the restaurant was participating in a St. Patty's day pub crawl). We were seated near vents in the floor that provided a direct pipeline to an area of the building where someone was smoking, so all of the second-hand smoke was discharged right at our table. The food was average, but the service and dining comfort would not warrant a return to this venue, for the prices commanded. If I wanted to eat in a bar environment, I would have selected a bar.
