Diner Reviews
  • "Cloth chairs were stained. Food cold. I eat there only because of convenience for my eldey friend."

  • "Chef Alex's Presentation and choices were Outstanding. {He should have his own TV show, but he seems to humble.} (portions were actually a little to generous )The Staff were all very Attentive and charming, AND Bernard was Professional, Knowledgeable, Entertaining and Unforgettable. We had a Relaxing and wonderful evening. Thank you to everyone involved. Tom W NEK VT."

  • "Our party of four enjoyed the Sunday brunch. Omelets made to order, Belgian waffles, and fresh fruit are the highlights. Two varieties of quiche and an assortment of baked goods round out the menu. Both the bloody Marys and mimosas were spicy and tasty respectively. An added touch is the Sunday jazz duo, the music was just the right volume to be able to enjoy both the music and table conversation. Because the restaurant is actually in a historic house, the small rooms for dining make any occasion feel intimate and special. Service was attentive."

  • "This restaurant used to be the ultimate fine dining establishment in the area. I have visited it a number of times over the last 8 years or so. With a 7pm reservation for 2 we were packed into a small room were my wife had to sit practically into the front foyer. The other rooms were not even 1/2 filled. The restaurant has an extensive menu but they insist on offering about a 1/2 dozen specials that don't live up to there hype ( the stuffed lobster was tasteless) My Filet Mignon was ordered med rare and came out charred and med well. Had hoped for a quiet evening with excellent food and ambience but receive mediocre food and a tired setting. This restaurant needs a rejuvenation of the former quality and dining experience."

  • "Food was mostly very good with the exception of the stuffed shrimp which was rubbery and came with a mound of starchy mashed potatoes. A bit pricey. Soft drinks are $4, come in a small glass filled with ice, and refills are another $4. Service was very good. The ambiance is very nice."

  • "Came for the price fixed menu as we have a few times... Price increased, portions decreased, but mostly the choices were quite different. No fish dish, lots of pastas. Not worth getting here so early."

  • "Took my wife to the Colonel's for her birthday. Absolutely fantastic. She - escargots ("tender and succulent") and bone-in cowboy ribeye special ("cooked absolutely perfectly" and "delicious"). Me - stuffed quahog special ("spicy but out of this world") and king cut of prime rib ("ginormous" and "best prime rib I have had in ages"). Our waitress was very attentive but also left us alone to enjoy the romantic setting and the occasion. I can say without a doubt that this is the best restaurant in the Boston - Providence corridor. Not to be missed!"

  • "I've heard about the Colonel Blackinton and a friend recommended it to me for Valentine's Day. I'm glad I went with it. The drinks were well-crafted, the food was exquisite, and the service--from the hostesses to the waitstaff--were so friendly. You certainly get what you pay for and I am eager to return for the next experience!"

  • "I would like to try this cute gem of a restaurant in Attleboro, MA in the summer when the gardens are in bloom and there is green all around. As far as winter, it was nice to have a local restaurant to go to on a special occasion. The dinner prices we thought were on the high end for the area and the food (my husband and I are foodies and have been to many restaurants). They should add some more moderately priced dinner menu items, so people like us would visit more often. But overall, it was a lovely experience."

  • "Special occasion dinner for a birthday, with a party of 6. Each room of the house is like its own semi-private dining room. Setting is elegant yet relaxed. Justin did a great job as our server. He was very knowledgeable of the menu, made great suggestions, but did so in a friendly and personable manner. All three soups (clam chowder, lobster bisque, and French onion) got solid reviews. Snails were delicious. Menu items (roast rack of lamb, baked scallops and chicken parmasean) were cooked perfectly. We also had some of the nightly specials. Dry-aged Black Angus Prime Rib was delicious, with great taste and texture. Seafood stuffed veal chop was excellent. Not much room for dessert, but the Italian bomba was a good finisher."

  • "This is a great restaurant with great food. Service is always good. It can be good for a romantic dinner if you get a quiet table. The restaurant has a great reputation so it tends to be busy on weekends. Very good place overall!"

  • "Our lunch experience had it all--atmosphere, amazing food, and terrific service. The reasonable prices were just an added bonus. We will DEFINITELY be back!"

  • "We have not been to the Blackinton Inn for several years. There was no special occasion, just a night out for a good meal. I made on-line reservations and our table was ready when we arrived. The valet parking was fast and friendly; the wait staff excellent. There was a large party in our room and so the conversation was a little louder than I would have liked but it wasn't too distracting. The Striped Bass with sea scallops and ginger sauce was absolutely excellent. My wife's filet was cooked perfectly. The decor and ambiance couldn't have been better. The meal prices were not unreasonable and well worth the quality we experienced."

  • "Although I have dined at the Colonel many times I do not have extensive experience with the menu. The filet mignon and the chocolate lava cake are so delicious that I don't dare order anything else. The service is always exceptional and the atmosphere is taseful and relaxing."

  • "Great brunch buffet. Made-to-order delicious omelettes, incredible bacon, ok sausage, good homefries, super fluffy and light waffles, two different huge quiches to slice a piece from, pastries, huge bowl of sliced strwberries, blueberries, pineapple, melon, etc, and a kind/helpful waitstaff that was always there when we needed them."

  • "We have been here on a few holiday and anniversaries. Always get good service, feel welcome, and food is very good. Walnut encrusted salmon is out of this world! Our anniversary reception was held here nearly 20 years ago, it was nice then, but even much better today. If you are looking for good atmosphere, a nice glass of wine, and good meal ....come here!"

  • "Birthday dinner with husband and another couple. Food is always excellent and had nice time but room we were in was SO warm and the fireplace was not even on. Waitress seemed a little impatient. Did intro quickly but 4 tables in our small room and it took her a while to take come back and take our order as she was busy with the other tables. There were so many specials I think it took her 10 minutes to read each one at each table so she seemed a little short. Anyway it's expensive but nice for a special occasion."
