Diner Reviews
  • "Food and service were excellent!! Will definitely recommend to my friends!!"

  • "I'm vacationing in myrtle beach and I looked up a restaurant that served beef carpaccio and this was the only one on the list so I decided to give it a try even though it said it was very expensive. I was very disappointed the mustard was overtaking the flavor and I didn't taste anything but mustard. There's not a lot of options in the menu and they don't allow any sort of substitution. The plate that I wanted to order came with brocolini and I don't like brocolini and asked the server if I could substitute for another vegetable and I was told " No they don't do substitutions here". Not enough food on the plate. The drinks were not good as well. Way too overpriced."

  • "Menu needs more variety. The only reason we don't go more often is that the menu doesn't change very often."

  • "Great local gem in an "ocean" of favorless restaurant chains!"

  • "We have had good and bad experiences at this restaurant. Our last experience was very good, with the food being excellent and the service good. The service has at times been mediocre but our last experience was excellent."

  • "Interesting restaurant with art for sale all over the different dining rooms"

  • "Great local's restaurant. Great atmosphere, food and deserts! We had the Lamb and it was delicious. Highly recommend it when in North Myrtle Beach, SC. When you go ask for Morgan."

  • "We had a wonderful experience. It was our only night out, because we ate in the remainder of the time we were staying at Myrtle Beach. I had actually been here before, but I wanted my wife to experience it as well. Her Mon was an artist, and she lost her two years ago, so the restaurant had a very special meaning to her. Her Father In law was with us as well, and his comment was "best restaurant in Myrtle Beach - hands down". A little pricy, but well worth it."

  • "Always a challenge to find a good place to eat in a strange town. Open Table certainly helps and finding Collector's Cafe is a perfect example. This is a charming find, nestled in a strip mall (over the years, we've found several great restaurants in unexpected places). The walls are covered with interesting art pieces, the overall decorations are perfect. Our waiter was friendly, helpful, efficient and knowledgeable about the food as well as some of the art work. The Myrtle Beach area has lots of good dining options, but if you want a sure winner, try Collector's Cafe. "

  • "We had a reservation & this restaurant was closed for a private event. We checked in with the hostess and she wasn't sure how to handle our request so she asked the manager and he would not even speak with us so we left disappointed."

  • "We dined here on May 19 because it was close to my hotel and my son's home. Our server was very knowledgeable, friendly and efficient. My son has been a server at fine dining restaurants for years and he was very impressed with her skills. Our meals were nicely presented and delicious. The wine list is quite pricey. The restaurant is very expensive so be prepared to pay for the eclectic atmosphere and superb meal."

  • "We've been to CC a few times and enjoyed it. For our 7:30 reservation last Saturday night we were seated in the bar area rather than the dining room. When I asked to be reseated I was offered a table in the "grill area" which, like the bar, tends to be busy and noisy. The food was again good (I had Bouillabaisse, wife had Sonoran Chicken, both had Caprese Salad & Creme Brulee) but the seating didn't meet my expectations. For a special occasion I would choose a different restaurant. "

  • "My husband and I had a wonderful dinner there. The service was food. Would recommend the beef carpaccio and bouillabaisse. My husband had the Cajun pasta and it was a bit heavy on the cayenne, but overall good. The peanut butter mousse was yummy and definitely enough for the two of us to share. We loved the bread basket and complimentary pesto, hummus and rosemary olive oil dipping sauces. The dress was business casual to somewhat dressy."

  • "This was our first time here as we live up in Calabash but we were pleasantly surprised by the food and ambiance !! Other than Seablue, Vintage Twelve and Croissants there are not many places that serve this quality ....we will certainly return!"

  • "Our party of 4 all enjoyed our evening on Friday. The bar area was pretty busy we ate at the open kitchen area at a high top. Our waitress was helpful, & attentive. The carpaccio is always great there & the scallop appetizer was delicious as well. Main dishes were prepared perfectly too, we had a filet, salmon & magi magi. Will look forward to going there again."

  • "My best friend and I had dinner on 4/30/2014. She ordered the rack of lamb and I ordered the file mignon. Both entrees were exceptional in taste, quality, and preparation. The lamb was the best I have tasted, perhaps, ever. My steak topped with a buttermilk/blue cheese dressing was terrific. Do yourself a favor and order either one. Lamb came with curried rice, roasted cauliflower (delicious) and fresh, tender sprigs of cilantro. Steak came with asparagus and mashed potatoes. Wonderful ingredients. Dessert was key lime pie which was fantastic. Multiple visits over the last 11 years. Never disappointed. Best place at the Myrtle. Enjoy."

  • "Our overall experience at the Collector's Cafe was wonderful. We were seated in the main dining room and all the tables were full. Acoustics not the best so the noise level was a little high. Service was great, our server was very pleasant and helpful. Our party of four enjoyed the entire dining experience, it was very relaxing. The Trout entree was delicious as was the Carpaccio appetizer. I was not that fond of the Bouillaisse, it was a little too bland for my taste. The four of us also enjoyed the Pomegranate Martinis. After dinner we toured the restaurant's various other rooms whose walls were filled with art, a must-do when you go. We will be back!"

  • "We met friends there -heard it was a great place where locals go and not so touristy in myrtle beach. Loved the beef carpaccio "

  • "This was a great choice for dinner. Each room of the restaurant is filled with painting from local artists, including one of the owners. The service was outstanding and the food was great. "

  • "We got to Collector's Cafe on time and was seated right away. Another table was seated just after us and their server was right there. we waited 15 mins for a server to come over but no one did. We then decided to leave and on our way out the host who was eating his dinner at the host stand didn't even say anything to us. So we walked to Lombardo's of Myrtle Beach nd had a fabulous meal with great service."

  • "We did Collectors based on reviews. Lunch was excellent--every dish and dessert was on point. I recommend the blackened salmon and the coconut cake--to die for."

  • "Our golf threesome visits myrtle Beach yearly. We learned about this restaurant years ago from a local golf pro. It has been a yearly event to which we look forward. The chefs (2 of them) are inventive and use largely locally produced foods. The quality of ingredients is superb and the herbs and spices really suit the dishes. We shall return over and over and over and........."

  • "Glad we had reservations! Arrived on time and seated immediately, while some waited. Great food and service. Crowded bar scene. Will definetly return. This would be amongst our top five for The Strand!"

  • "The service was quite good, noise level increased as the evening progressed. The food was fine, not exceptional. There was more breading than oyster, so I will stay away from fried oysters here."

  • "Nice change of pace to the more casual restaurants in Myrtle Beach."

  • "Not only does this restaurant off fine dining and fantastic desserts, it is an art gallery as well. The scene is set with tasteful jazz music playing in the background. I've had coffee and dessert in the mid afternoon as well as dinner. This restaurant offers a unique dining experience which is not to be missed. Can't wait to return."

  • "Excellent food and atmosphere. However, I was disappointed in the service. We had a group of seven which seemed too much for our server to handle, despite the fact the restaurant was not crowded. She was not knowledgeable about the menu or specials. I like when the server makes suggestions; I like to feel confident about what I am ordering. We also ordered a bottle of wine and she was unable to open and present it. It was just awkward."

  • "I chose this restaurant from reviews on OpenTable, Even so, it exceeded my expectations. I loved the artwork and thought my dinner was delicious (I had the filet mignon with grilled asparagus and asked for a substitution for the mashed potatoes--the substitution offered was saffron rice.) The steak was cooked as I requested, medium well, the asparagus was nicely grilled and not tough, and the rice was very tasty. I also was delighted by my dessert of the triple chocolate mousse cake. I don't think I could have had a better dinner anywhere in the Myrtle Beach area. I also enjoyed a rye whiskey-based Old Fashion cocktail and a glass of red wine. Some of the dishes had spicier preparations than I prefer so I had to choose carefully."

  • "We go to Collector's annually when visiting Myrtle Beach. Though the menu is somewhat limited at this time of year, my guest and I both found something to our liking: the scallop cakes are divine and do not disappoint; I had the duck breast which was cooked just as I like it. Kudos to the server, who asked the right questions to get the desired result! Definitely a "keeper"."

  • "Wow! What a great place to dine. This restaurant definitely exceeded my expectations. I absolutely loved the atmosphere and art was fabulous. You have a great wine list and the meal was amazing! You are Myrtle Beach's best kept secret for out of towners. Thank you for a great dining experience."

  • "A request was made to be seated in that area next to the far wall from the entrance...not so. Evidently, a large group reserved the entirre area for the evening and the only table available at 6:30 was along the hallway leading to the rear rooms. We were, of course, disappointed by the seating, oggled by all who passed by on there way to and from the bathrooms. Not the fine dining experience expected."

  • "We go to collector's a couple of times a year and it is the benchmark against which we measure all other restaurants. we have never had a bad meal here and actually never an average one either. it is always superb. we have eaten at all the best restaurants in charleston and have not found one even close. i prefer collectors even to some of the finer places ive eaten in nyc, chicago, and london with steaks as good as mortons or capital grille for half the price and seafood entries as good as a great seafood restaurant. excellent appetizers (the goat cheese is truly the best ive tasted from all over the world) to huge delicious desserts. i always return gratefully and leave full and happy"

  • "We went there for valentines day dinner. My fiancé had been wanting to go for some time so I surprised her with what I thought would be a romantic dinner. However, we were sat in the hallway at what seemed to be a makeshift table. Service was very slow and inconsistent. The only enjoyable part was the food. The bill was for a 5 star dinner that I felt we got in a 2 star environment. Probably will not return."
