Collections Cafenice and easyHad dinner alone at Collections Cafe, where I thought it would be hard to get a table at 7:30 pm on a Friday night. However, because it is near the Space Needle and Science Center, most attractions are closed by then. So it was quiet, easy and very relaxing. Had the burger, kale and mushroom salad, and a lovely Sauvignon Blanc. Food was wonderful - I realize how rarely you have a burger that is actually really hot and stayed that way! How do they do that? And it was still medium, as ordered! There were maybe 3 parties in the dining room; service was attentive but not overly so. A really great experience, all around!6/14/2013 12:00:00 AMLovely Lunch at Collections CafePerfect spot for lunch with mom, sister and niece after touring the amazing glass artwork. Service was perfect - attentive and friendly. Menu had unusual and appealing choices in both drinks and dishes. We all shared the brownie dessert; it was very generous and very good. Will definitely enjoy lunch here again.6/11/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat Seattle Center optionFood, service, and relaxed atmosphere were great. The "collections" theme is imaginatively carried out at each table. Great wine choices too. We would come again.6/7/2013 12:00:00 AMA Wonderful Surprise! We loved the IMAGINATIVE décor, table settings, menu, and food presentation. The Goat Cheese Gnocchi w. hazelnut oil, goat cheese, pea greens & sundried tomatoes was amazing! (Wonderful cream pitcher --- should be sold in the gift shop.) The staff were great as was the service. We will definitely be back as it is by far the finest at Seattle Center --- has Zagat's checked it out yet? They should! PS Loved the complimentary (they really are) photos!6/7/2013 12:00:00 AMWonderful EveningThe food was special. The surroundings engaging and definitely one of the best burgers anywhere.6/4/2013 12:00:00 AMTasty FoodLoved the salmon cakes and salads. Uses fresh and in season foods. Good flavors.6/3/2013 12:00:00 AMForget the Needle, Eat Here InsteadAfter spending some time sightseeing and exploring the space needle in Seattle, we thought we would dine close by before hitting the Chihuly Museum. Our first thought was to hit the SkyCity restaurant in the Space Needlebut they personally didn't make any mention of being open and when we tried to reserve, they told us the last reservation was taken. Their poor promotion was our gain. because the Collections Cafe was great. Cool vibe with lots of great antiques to admire. Plus the food and service was excellent. Sorry Space Needle...You could learn something from the folks at Collections. Just sayin'5/28/2013 12:00:00 AMlast minute family late lunchWe spontaneously got reservations through Open Table while at Folklife; family of four. Kids not used to things like "aioli" on a menu. Our server was patient and helpful with them, describing what they would potentially be eating very well & to their age levels. We all loved our meals; 2 burgers, one pressed pork sandwich, one chop salad. Those of us who had dessert were highly impressed with the salted caramel sauce.
The atmosphere was open and airy, and we loved sitting by the window to people watch.
We enjoyed all the collections we could see & though that added a bit to the atmosphere, the food and service are what will bring us back there.
We visit EMP often and now have a fave place for lunch nearby.5/27/2013 12:00:00 AMgood food; good people watchingI had the chicken and polenta cake; it was delicious. My girlfriend had the meatballs and they were also amazing and covered in tasty cheese. The windows are nice for people watching if there is an event going on. I do not recommend the brownie dessert; it was very dry.5/27/2013 12:00:00 AMGem in Heart of CityCollections is located on the Seattle Center grounds at the Chihuly Glass Museum. There is indoor and outdoor seating. The food is very well prepared and artfully presented. Prices are moderate and service is excellent. I plan to go back!5/25/2013 12:00:00 AMConclusion at CollectionsThis was a delightful conclusion to our Chihuly Glass Museum visit. We ordered starters: carrot soup, the ribs and the wrapped lamb with yogurt dip and a little salad. Sharing these between the two of us was the perfect amount. My friend rhapsodized over the carrot soup though I only wanted a taste. The suggested wine selection worked well We also loved the mini collections on the tables and my friend found several items she had owned as a child. Such fun!5/24/2013 12:00:00 AMPhotographers roaming at tablesMaybe this is because of the tourists. Not a welcome thing for this diner as I find it intrusive to be offered something I'm not interested in (interested in the museum and eating food at the restaurant. Period). Otherwise I like the food and will be back5/24/2013 12:00:00 AMexcellent diverse menuFresh delughtful food. Wonderful salad and spucy shrimp. A great place to find at Seattle Center.5/20/2013 12:00:00 AMCollector's dream !!!We had a delightful lunch and a wonderful tour of the gorgeous exhibits !!!! Loved the collections in the center of the tables and lining the walls - Dale is a man after my own heart - I'm not the only collector.5/19/2013 12:00:00 AMBirthday LunchWe love to eat at Collections Cafe so much that we chose it for a birthday lunch celebration. Our adult meals were spectacular and the children's meals are sophisticated and delicious takes on classic kid fare! I would and have highly recommended eating at Collections.5/19/2013 12:00:00 AMSurprisingly GOODGreat fresh food from a very diverse menu. Lots of different spices, and the ribs were delectably tender. Would defnitely go back, and enjoy the garden next time too.5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMCollections cafeWhat a nice place! Ambience was awesome! So many cool things to look at and talk about. Our food was very tasty. Our server was very attentive. Prices were not bad at all. Again, you can find them out online so you do not have sticker shock. It was my first time using open table and we were seated in under 5 minutes. A very nice surprise for it being so popular and busy-looking.5/17/2013 12:00:00 AMVery pleasant, interestingVery pleasant, interesting menu, and we appreciated the quiet so we could carry on a conversation with friends without shouting and leaning across the table. For that alone we'd return.5/16/2013 12:00:00 AMGood food & menu & serviceCollections has an interesting menu. The food is good and reasonably priced. I appreciate the gluten free menu options. The service is friendly and efficient. We enjoyed being seated on the patio on a sunny afternoon. This is a great spot if you are enjoying an activity at Seattle Center.5/16/2013 12:00:00 AMNot very man food options,Not very man food options, but the location and the collections make it a great experience. More fancy than most cafes, but more casual than fine dining. A unique place!5/13/2013 12:00:00 AMPerfect compliment to the museumHad a wonderful Mother's Day meal with the family (all adults) during out tour of the museum. Creative menu, well executed, for a reasonable price. A pleasant surprise.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMLove the decor!Great menu and beer selection. Our waitress was really nice and helpful. We even saw Dale Chulily dinning there! Great place for lunch!5/10/2013 12:00:00 AMWe enjoyed our server andWe enjoyed our server and diners taking photos of the various collections in the restaurant. Great conversation starters.
We were disappointed in menu options and that their wines by the glass options were gone. It was a beautiful day but outdoor table service was limited as well. May go back for a snack some time but not for dinner before the theatre.5/9/2013 12:00:00 AMVery tastyThe food is quite tasty and not too pricey. The menu changes seasonally so it's fun to go back.5/3/2013 12:00:00 AMChange in menu?We have been to Collections Cafe several times so we do hold it to a high standard. It is a good location for pre-theater, ballet and opera dinners. The noise level is also low enough that we can actually carry on a conversation. However, the food was not as good this time as it has been in the past and the menu options seemed less appealing. The roast chicken was a poplular choice at our table due to an article in the paper that morning about the chicken at other restaurants. However, the chicken here was not as flavorful as it should be. The apple salad, although very good, should be offered in an appetizer size. The goat cheese gnocci was excellent as was the burger..5/3/2013 12:00:00 AMchihuly collects stuff and deliversvery nice wait staff very interesting food items good portion size and very nice wine list5/1/2013 12:00:00 AMAlways a pleasure, and hopeAlways a pleasure, and hope to go for dinner at some point.4/30/2013 12:00:00 AMHow Can You Miss with this!I love Collections and have been there many times. I go every time I go to the Glass Garden, but most recently I have been there twice (and planning a third) when taking guests to Book-It Repertory Theatre just across the walkway from you in the Center House Theatre.I am on the board there as well and would love to have a dinner/theater offering together. We have arrangements with other local eateries, but you are the closest and the best! I would love to put you in touch with our staff to see what we might arrange. We are just beginning our outstanding (and acclaimed!) performance of Mark Twain's Huckleberry Finn Uncensored which will be followed by The Financial Lives of the Poets by Jess Walter. We will be in touch!4/19/2013 12:00:00 AMArt and Martini'sWe have come to Taste a few times before a show at Benaroya or after a visit to SAM of which we are members. I had trout there that was amazing...but the thing I really look forward to is the "Impressionist" martini! It is SO good I have to have two. We walked around Pike's last weekend, came up the Harbor Steps and oh, oh...we were in front of SAM and TASTE and so guess what? Went in just for my favorite martini! Delicious.4/19/2013 12:00:00 AMA 6 pm reservation was notA 6 pm reservation was not needed as the place was nearly empty. However, earlier in the week when we walked by around lunch time it was quite busy.
We think it is a great place to eat before attending an Opera House event -easy to walk to. This should be mentioned in publicity. We are glad we could use our Passport Card, thus getting a discount, which is how we heard about this nice and inviting cafe.
We loved checking out the "collections" decorating the space.4/18/2013 12:00:00 AMWonderful portions on theWonderful portions on the Restaurant Week lunch menu. Every bite was to die for.4/16/2013 12:00:00 AMAlong with the beautiful glassAlong with the beautiful glass garden, it made for a wonderful day, with out of town guests. I'm glad I made reservations, even for lunch... the place was busy!4/16/2013 12:00:00 AMAbsolutely Wonderful Experience.Absolutely Wonderful Experience. Loved the collections. Don't be surprised if other diners want a peek a your table.4/12/2013 12:00:00 AMHad lunch there during RestaurantHad lunch there during Restaurant Week. The specials (we tried them all) were very tasty. We were there at the height of lunch hour, they were busy, but were served in a timely manner, and never felt rushed.4/7/2013 12:00:00 AMWe love the Collections Cafe,We love the Collections Cafe, and have lunch there a few times each year when visiting Seattle.4/7/2013 12:00:00 AMOut of this world good food.I was surprised and delighted at how good the food was. Unbelievable. I had the prawn appetizers and then the chopped salad which was super. My date had the daily choice steak and it was great too according to his reports. Even the bread brought to the table was super delicious.4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMThe hostess was very helpfulThe hostess was very helpful by accommodating one in our party who has mobility issues. Our server, Dane, was helpful and gave menu recommendations which we liked very much.4/4/2013 12:00:00 AMI'm always pleasantly surprisedI'm always pleasantly surprised when a tourist destination delivers bot excellent quality and value. This fulfilled both. Prices were reasonable. Our guest had the hamburger which looked like 1/2 pound, bacon thick enough to see; he pronounced it excellent. I tried his shoestring french fries and we both thought "better than McDonalds". My husband had a salad which he said was excellent, but enough for a small country. I had the small goat cheese gnocchi appetizer; fine flavor, sufficient food. The only disappointment was the panna cotta dessert; too much gelatin. We'll eat there again when visiting CGG. Plenty of children present, but it's divided up so we weren't bothered.4/2/2013 12:00:00 AMBest Hamburgers and RoastedBest Hamburgers and Roasted Chicken ever. The Chihuly collection displayed at the cafe is really well done , clever and real interesting.3/31/2013 12:00:00 AMWe went to Collections cafeWe went to Collections cafe for lunch, we were scoping out the environment for a larger party we plan to have in May. We absolutely loved our lunch entres ~ the flavors and presentation were exceptional. Our waitress provided good, non-intrusive service, and we enjoyed looking at the artwork on the walls and collection in our table (and we walked around to other tables to view other collections).
It's not a cheap eat, but definitely worth the price. Looking forward to our next trip to Collections cafe.3/28/2013 12:00:00 AMThis is a fun place in theThis is a fun place in the Seattle Center.
