Diner Reviews
  • "Each in my group of 4 people, all with varying tastes in food, found an item both to his/her taste and in a size that fit the appetite."

  • "This was my second visit and it was just a tasty as I remember. A bit on the pricey side, but the quality and taste make it worth it."

  • "Plus with the purchase of the brunch you can get a reduced price tour of the museum. Wonderful food and great service in a nice location for taking out of town guests, or for a romantic dinner as there is illuminated paintings. Chihuly's collections in the tables and on the wall add a quirky and interesting twist to decoration. Highly recommend this restaurant."

  • "I have been to collections a few times, usually because it is convenient. I keep hoping with each visit that there has been improvement, but I am always disappointed. The menu isn't particularly creative and the quality is less than mediocre. Presentation not up to the standards it should be for a restaurant set in such a fabulous venue. Servers are certainly nice, but not attentive, don't offer refills on coffee or water, and never check back on satisfaction with food offering. Won't go again."

  • "First of all the two of us decided to share and appetizer of crab cakes. Didn't read the fine print: there was only one about the size of a silver dollar. Flavor was good. Next we ordered tempura battered sole & chips. The tempura batter was thick and heavy with a very bland aoli. There were however bountiful fries. This was a disappointment and the price was high. We won't be back."

  • "I have been here several times and the food is always delicious and delicious-sounding. I always have trouble picking from the menu. The collections of bric a brac cased in the tables are fun. Service is friendly and relatively attentive. More expensive than the options in the Armory but definitely worth the money if you have it."

  • "I ordered the Burger off the menu and although good I wasn't sure it was really worth $19. My friend ordered several small appetizers for dinner and I think he dined better than I. I wouldn't order the burger again because it wasn't anything special."

  • "Great little place to eat before catching a play at the Seattle Center!"

  • "Brought out-of-towners to Brunch last summer. Food and service EXCELLENT. Menu changed a bit, but not as many breakfast-y price fixe? Seemed there was an omelette or somethign last time. But service was hugely show. 15 minutes to get a starter of Pear Toast, REALLY? No excuses or check-ins with us about why food was taking so long. I think it was 20 mins for our entrees once ordered as well."

  • "Venue is interesting and a great place to eat at Seattle Center. Service was good. Too bad the halibut was overdone and the chop salad boring. But the wine choices were good. I agree with other reviewers that the cutlery is beautiful but hard to use. Round handles on heavy cutlery tend to not work very well."

  • "we were delighted to experience the collections cafe recently for dinner with our grand kids after touring the wonderful exhibit. a perfect combination. it's such a bright spot with a creative collectors concept. we love the accordions especially. service and food both excellent... and accommodated our grands despite severe food limitations. we'll find ways to get back if just for the restaurant."

  • "From the moment you enter, you realize that you will have an experience. The ambience is bright and light with the "collections" to draw interest and discussion. The service throughout is unique being both reserved yet friendly and totally respectful. It feels like a diner, long and narrow, yet very private and exclusive. The food, its presentation and taste, is excellent and that includes its beverages."

  • "We had a wonderful dinner, with great service. We split the chopped salad and the scallop dinner, then the choc chip cookie with ice cream and salted caramel sauce. Yum! All were very tasty. Our server was perfectly attentive without hovering or interrupting. We attended a concert at Key Arena, so it's just a perfect location."

  • "The cafe at the Chihuly exhibit was pretty. Menu was strange and limited. I had the toast with pear, cheese and cranberries. It wasn't bad, but small for the price. My friend had the soup, and was charged 2.00 for 2 slices of bread with it. The soup was very spicy and that had not been mentioned. I think they might want to go with simpler food for a little less cost."

  • "I really enjoyed our lunch - but I was somewhat disappointed that there was no glass art in the cafe itself. That said, the collectables that were displayed in the shadow boxes in the tables were very fun and would be good conversation pieces, if you were meeting people for the first time."

  • "I made reservation for a late lunch with the plan of going to the museum afterwards. Very disapointed to find that the museum was Closed for a Private event ! Why did they not let us know when I made the reservations ? The food was good but they are Very Proud of it, the Price was to expensive for what we had. Change the silverware ! It is nice looking but so hard to eat with I had trouble enjoying the food."

  • "My second time back for lunch. It is a great spot for a uniquely Seattle experience for an out of towner or for some place a local person may not have tried yet. The food quality is excellent - portion size perfect, seasoning refined, not over sauced. Loved the smoked paprika on the fish, the pasta with the mixed mushrooms and arugula. Ask for the excellent bread and butter. Have some coffee. The interesting decor will stimulate conversation that you can actually hear. The service wasn't memorable but not lacking either. Kudos all around. I will return."

  • "Took the grandkids there for Sunday brunch. It was a snow day and we were the only ones there. Turned out to be a treat since we got a lot of attention from the waiter. The kids had a great time, too, checking out all the collections of various trinkets at each and every table. And yes, the good was very decent."

  • "We had a great meal before a Key Arena concert . Every dish was full of flavor, well-presented. Small-ish menu but good variety of choices. Good local wines and beers as well. Service was friendly. Kind of a pet peeve when waiters make you re-use utensils at a nicer table service restaurant, especially when it's not too busy. That was the only sour note on service. Will definitely come back."

  • "This was a lunch. The food was mediocre at best. I felt like I was at my office cafeteria. The service was fine, maybe a little slow. We may have been there on a very celebratory day with several large tables nearby. It was quite loud. The décor was interesting with the different collections. I thought the food was overpriced for what we received. The only reason we stayed was because we had a gift certificate that couldn't be used elsewhere. We did go to the food court next door after visiting the glass museum, I would rather we had lunch there. I would not recommend this restaurant."

  • "We ordered one brunch fixe with the Salmon Eggs Benedict as a main and another main alone (Prawns atop a bed of grits). Collections cafe cheddar cheese beer soup was a fantastic starter; thick, rich cheese without losing the flavor of the beer! The serving size of the mains was very generous; Benedict comes with two eggs atop potato cakes and a layer of smoked salmon between. Prawns were cooked beautifully- just a touch of chewiness to them and sprinkled with what I believe were hand done bacon chips and a touch of spicy Asian oil? For dessert we ordered the flan, a lovely delicate coconut flavor and it paired well with the French press coffee. Our server was absolutely charming, we enjoyed chatting with her about the food selections."

  • "Chiully private collections which provide the ambiance for the restaurant evoke nostalgia days for us over 50! Clean restaurant, wonderful light, personable hostess and waiter, not to mention excellent food makes this a must to return to. I was there on opening day, and my sister from South Carolina joined me there again. We are Midwesterners, so a place with a great hamburger speaks to us. We shared that and the Cobb salad...not enough days to enjoy everything. Presentation rates high in my books and this has it all. Will definitely return when next in Seattle."

  • "The food is quite nice, and what we had was flavorful (and colorful) enough to live up to the setting. The smoked paprika sauce is quite nice (shows up in a couple of places). It really took a looooooong time to get our lunch, though. Wines came out after about 10 minutes.....appetizer in another 15.....then another 20-25 minutes for the main course. It wasn't that crowded, so I'm not sure why the kitchen seemed to be so behind. It wasn't just us, since we noticed people at nearby tables checking their watches and looking a bit impatient."

  • "Collections Café offers affordable dining with a great outlook on the grounds of the Seattle Center. Evenings are especially enjoyable with views of the Space Needle. Friendly and knowledgeable service."

  • "I went for dinner but I would suggest lunch. The small plates were a hit. The mains were decent but I wouldn't say that there was much difference in portion or quality. It is also not much of a dinner atmosphere. We were there at 7:30 on a Thursday and we were the only ones... The wine list mark up seemed high. The difference between the good and the bad was about 10 but the difference between the two was drastic."

  • "We thoroughly enjoyed the food- you've got to try "the cookie" dessert- but the music was loud and obnoxious, definitely not pleasant and consistent with the ambiance of the restaurant."
    Dined on 12/30/2013
  • "Excellent in every way. Food was tasty and presentation outstanding. Love the decor. You'll see nostalgic collections of accordions, keys, radios, etc. Make reservations or it'll be a wait."

  • "Collections Cafe is a lovely restaurant. Much to behold as there are indeed many "collections" on display at the tables, which were created as shadowboxes. Very cool. The food was very good, although my husband found his porchetta (pork stew) to be a little too fatty -- would have been better with loin cut, vs. pork belly--but then it wouldn't be porchetta. The gambas (spicy shrimp) were terrific! We will definitely eat there again, as there were many other dishes I would have loved to try. Reasonable prices for the portions. Good list of by-the-glass wines."

  • "Really good food, we tried 2 different appetizers, the gnocchi and the cheese curds both were really delicious, the gnocchi was especially good- lots of flavor. Our entrees were also good, 40 clove garlic chicken, pressed pork sandwich, pear and brie ravioli. Really nice sized portions, tasty food. Our favorite was the brownie dessert with snicker brittle- big enough for 3 people to share. We thought the pricing was good and a really good value- especially considering it is at Seattle Center. Very nice and informed staff, we asked a bunch of questions about the food and they helped us figure out what everything was. We will definitely be back again."

  • "This is a good find for quiet, nice dining around the Seattle Center… very good food, fresh, nicely prepared. Our server was outstanding - all in all, excellent."

  • "Really good food served by am knowledgable staff. Wines were nice, food had a great Appearance and a great and interesting taste. A little too casual for foods but table designs Make up for that, and art work also helps the ambiance(?!). Only thing I mentioned was the Silverware--- didn't like it! Only time my fork and knife had a mind of its own-seemed like They wanted the food on plate, not my mouth. Overall a really good experience."

  • "Met for an early dinner be fore the ballet. It was a delicious meal. Gambas, Grilled octopus, rainbow chard roasted mushroom salad and the pear and Brie ravioli were all very good. Ended with a sumptuous brownie salted caramel ice cream dessert."

  • "we like the size of the restaurant and they are always very helpful. the menu is limited, but the food is good. Portions are small, however. we would love to go there after the ballet and opera, but they actually close early- so it would not be a late-night find."

  • "Food was terrible. Dried out lamb, stale pita bread. Odd, narrow, awkward space. Extremely loud neighbors. I total ego trip for Chihuly. From dining to the art, a very unpleasant experience."

  • "Collections Cafe is a museum in itself. Lots to see! My meal surprised me as being mediocre. Most museum food is really good. I had a chopped salad. For 2/3rd the price there are plenty of restaurants where you can get a far superior chopped salad, but not as convenient to the museum. I would go back, but would order something different."

  • "Went for a friend's birthday dinner, awkward start due to a power outage which meant a limited menu. Host offered to comp wine but did not. We were not told we had a coupon for a free dessert or starter with purchase of museum ticket (which we visited before dinner). The hostess was snippy about seating us in a booth instead of a table despite an almost empty dining room and having a reservation. Nice waiter, good food, coffee. We enjoyed our dinner but the ways things started out was really disappointing, especially since it was our first time here. It felt awkward and unprofessional."
