Diner Reviews
  • "Comfortable seats, very attractive decor, massive stack of architecturally arranged wine bottles, soaring lofty ceilings, park view of ball games on a Sunny Sunday. French toast--brioche is most yummy, as is top sirloin brunch entre. I did not fall in love with the hash, but we shared three selections and I was over-ruled. Friendly staff, quickly shown to our table, loved walking the high line after brunch....."

  • "Took my family to this restaurant for lunch, and it was solid -- plan for the $30-50 range per person (more with alcohol), but it's pretty good. Clean restaurant, courteous staff, excellent presentation -- oh yeah, and the food was delicious."

  • "I absolutely was thrilled to go here. Living in California, my first opportunity to go to a Colicchio restaurant was a visit a couple years ago in Las Vegas. I have said that it was by far the best meal I have ever eaten. Upon this trip to New York, I decided I would need to go to one of restaurants in their "home". A little nervous that I would be disappointed quickly disappeared when my daughter and I arrived at Colicchio & Sons Tap Room. We had a wonderful salad, then the escargot, followed by a pizza and then a plate of cookies. My only regret was we could not finish the pizza, and about three hours later, I was wishing I had asked for the left overs. It was all that good! Impeccably fabulous!"

  • "The lunch menu was fabulous. You could choose two or three courses and the food was amazing. Everyone at our table of four got something different and all of the food was great. I highly recommend Colicchio & Sons. The tap room was beautiful and a fun place to have lunch with family or friends. We will definitely go back next time we are in NYC!"

  • "Was there for a weekend brunch. The SERVICE was some of the best I have ever experienced in a restaurant. The food was superior. But, be prepared to pay a premium $$$ for that food and service. It is not cheap, which limits me from going back regularly and will keep it on my 'special occasion' list."

  • "We had heard good things about this restaurant and we were not disappointed. This was probably the best food we have ever had when visiting New York. Excellent service that was unobtrusive but anticipated every need."

  • "This was one of the best restaurant experiences I have had in NYC. The food, drinks and setting were great. What put it over the top was our server who was a true delight. He had excellent knowledge of the menu and brought the right level of personality to our experience. Thanks!"

  • "My wife is a fan of the television show "Top Chef". So she was interested in trying a Tom Colicchio owned restaurant. Well this place doesn't disappoint. I am not a big breakfast guy, but I took the recommendation of my waiter, and ordered there version of french toast. It is a brioche bread cooked in maple syrup and a bourbon butter on the side. Needless to say, it was the best french toast I've ever had in my life. No need to ask for more maple syrup, it is masterfully infused into the bread, and is simply incredible. I ordered a bacon plate with it, and the pork belly was spectacular. My wife ate the Duck confit, and raved about it. The atmosphere is fine for a Sunday brunch, and the service was terrific. Go enjoy!"

  • "First time in NYC we went to Colicchio tap room it was great. This second trip I made the reservation a month in advance but when we arrived we were seated close to the door, and was freezing every time someone opened the door to get in or out the room. We said that we would like to be seated in other table and being honest, there was no problem at all! The problem was our waiter, he didn't seem to be really professional, he was going around the place apparently very busy but doing nothing. The table next to us were seated after but they got their drinks and appetizers while we were still waiting for our first drink. The service was slow.To sum up;we were a bit disappointed and when leaving they gave us other people coats, finally found ours"

  • "Our family of 5 visited the TAP room and had the best meal of the weekend (and we went High End Cheffy for 3 nights) Tom's place was beautiful, the wait staff friendly and inviting and the food was all excellent. With 5 you can try everything, and we did - Beef Tartar, Escargot (the best preperation I've had - and I have Escargot whenever it's on the menu) , Taleggio Pizza (we only ever make our own pizzas) was a real treat! For entree - Brisket was the best!, but Duck Confit also incredible. Lobster Cavetelli was a little sweet for me but the rest of the fam ate it up. Truly memorable dinner (especially for the towing of our car :)) Thanks Tom and Sons!"

  • "This week we took advantage of the nice weather to visit one of our favorite restaurants, Colicchio's Tap Room. Our greeting by Chase, the Manager, was warm and genuine. We looked at each other with some concern when he told us that there was a new chef in house and the menu had been updated. How can you improve on perfection we thought. Happy to say the menu was lovely, with many new choices yet keeping some old favorites. The skate was superb and can honestly say the best I have ever had. There is a prix fixe menu that is one of the best values in Manhattan. Can truly say this restaurant ticks all the boxes when choosing a restaurant: warm welcome , excellent food , and a good atmosphere !"

  • "My friend and I went here with our teenage daughters, and we all loved it. The service was excellent and friendly, the food delicious (the kids had pizza and burger, my friend and I the sea bass, and the desserts were very good too!), and the place looks nice and has a good atmosphere. It is quite expensive though (entrees mostly are at least $30, and we had to really search for an affordable bottle of wine (we ordered the cheapest one of $40, which was very good), but it is worth it."

  • "Having traveled from Manchester, England to celebrate my 50th Birthday whilst experiencing what New York had to offer it was important for me to ensure l chose the right restaurant on the big day. I don't believe l could have chose better, the food was terrific and the service was exceptional. With most things the difference between very good and excellent lies with the little touches. A personalised menu for my table and a small cake with a personal birthday massage drizzled next to it on the plate made things that much more special. Highly recommended."

  • "The only thing that I felt could be better here, is that we got a feeling throughout the whole meal that they wanted us to eat up as soon as possible, to make room for a new seating. They tried to take away my first course several times, while eating, and as I was on my last bite, the main course came on the table. I would have preferred a pause between the first course and the main course. It felt like they were rushing our meal the whole time, bringing us the food at a too high speed, as the bar was full of people waiting for a table. Having a waiter coming to our table all the time, asking if we were finished, kind of disturbed the conversation, and took away the romantic feeling ,having a dinner for two."

  • "One of the best meals I've ever had. I had the brisket and yes it was marbled but cooked to perfection with a great taste and texture. Service is best in class! We will return every time we visit New York."

  • "I've been to Colicchio & Sons for dinner before and I had to say, it was an outstanding experience. This weekend I went for brunch and while the food was great, the service, on a slow Saturday, was extremely lacking, in my opinion. I guess it would be great if we didn't want to be interrupted but to have to constantly wave down the waitress to have our wine glasses re-filled, come on, a top notch establishment should know better than that. Overall though, it was a great brunch! One can't go wrong w/ Colicchio & Sons."

  • "great lunch menu at a bargain price for what you get. atmosphere is modern up scale but warm and welcoming. Service is amazing. food was done perfectly and they have a great selection of local craft brew and an extensive wine list. Perfect special occasion dinner or a treat of fine life for lunch."

  • "We ate in Bar area. For Foodies this restaurant may be perfect. I found it pricey and the food preparations over rated. Burrata appetizer was small, swimming in a broth / sauce and accompanied with precisely and finely diced cooked squash, apple and duck ham. It was served luke warm. My entree was the brisket loaf. Approximately 20% of the serving was pure fat and the meat itself was far from tender. Our party also ordered the escargot appetizer, which was excellent. Other menu items included the skate, which was over salted and unimpressive. In conclusion, this is a very highly rated NY restaurant. Expect to pay dearly for sauce, precisely placed food items and plate presentation. The food itself was less than impressive."

  • "This was our first Colicchio restaurant, and won't be our last. From the attentive service to the universally delicious food, a lovely experience. Manhattan prices may make you wish to reserve this for a special occasion, but it was worth it."

  • "Nice atmosphere in an open space. Went to have a girls night out, and service on every level was amazing. The food was great too, but the service really sealed the deal. The hosts were warm and friendly, and our servers were very attentive and nice. When the greens in one dish were too salty, they took it back and gave us an entire new entree, properly done. The take-home scone on top was a nice touch. That's a good team you've got there, Colicchio. Well done. We left a nice tip in appreciation, but I hope you pay them well."

  • "The environs are nicely done and the staff are very good, attentive, and professional. Disappointing in a limited menu, with no chef specials, etc, but what we did order was very good. Not sure I would go out of the way to get here, but if you are in the area, a choice you cant go wrong with. PS: We filled out their comment card before we left, and they actually read it and came over to our table discuss it. Rare to see that amount of concern, and a compliment to management."

  • "I cannot say enough about our experience at Colicchio &Sons. It was a memorable meal, with special little touches throughout. The wait staff was excellent, very attentive and informative. We loved everything! The only that would have made it better would have been to have Tom join us ;)"

  • "Tap Room is a terrific combination of casual dining in lovely surroundings. We had short ribs and braised brisket. Both were outstanding. We were treated to a mini tasting of interesting a to get the right pairing. Service was impeccable, yet friendly and warm. We'll be back!"

  • "Colicchio and Sons reinvents some classics. Pork belly with salsa verde poached eggs and grits was perfectly soft, warm and delicious. Lobster and poached eggs equally divine. Solid brunch appropriate cocktails as well. Ambiance is steel and wood in an up to date industrial loft redux. Staff extremely attentive, without interrupting conversation. Highly recommend for winter mornings post boozy nights."

  • "We enjoyed our food...all the components were interesting and innovative, perfectly prepared. The decor was a wonderful mix between urban woodsy, cozy and elegant. But the service was especially noteworthy-the entire wait staff did their jobs impeccably to ensure that our experience was top notch but also friendly and welcoming. No stuffy pretenses here-Thank You! The patrons ranged in age and the space was lively and energetic. We will definitely return."

  • "The Tap Room is in front while the more formal dining room is in the rear, behind the bar. Both rooms are spacious with very high ceilings and exposed brick walls. The wood burning oven greets you upon entry. There are about 24 beers on draft and an extensive wine list. Our food was excellent and our server Darren was perfect. We'll be back to check out the dining room next."

  • "Great food again - both of us ordered very different things, and all were fantastic. Service was very friendly and well informed, some great tips by Samantha. Only thing I would change is the tables are a little close together - I guess a victim of it's own success. Overall, fantastic food and great ambience - definitely a favourite"

  • "I ordered waygu beef done medium. It was delivered to table medium rare which was fine, but the beef was completely cold. I let my server know, & he brought back the same order of beef thrown under a broiler & burned to a dark gray. The side of greens that came with the dish had been exceptionally over salted & no one at our table could eat it. I sent it back again. The manager apologized profusely & didn't charge for my entrée, but that really wasn't the point. I cannot believe that Colicchio would ever accept this misstep. In any other restaurant, a new cut of beef would have been brought to the table & a vengeful chef would not have dreamt to send out the same piece of meat overdone and salted the sides in anger. Disappointing."

  • "Excellent food & service- I had informed the restaurant that we would be celebrating my daughters 21st birthday, the staff were so attentive and the service was personalised with special touches, such as my daughters name, birthday printed on our menu, a small cake, card & goodies to take away. I would definitely visit and recommend the restaurant"

  • "$25 prix fixe is excellent. I had the fabulous-tasting, extremely well-dressed, simple butter leaf lettuce salad, and a very good duck confit. Portion size: superb, i.e. not gigantic, you can imagine eating dinner afterwards. Nice wine by the glass selection. Service was meh (slow, kept vanishing), but perfectly nice. Desserts seemed kind of boring and are available for a supplement (or in lieu of one of the 2 savory courses). An excellent choice, especially if you are not in a hurry."
