The staff was very friendly and helpful, the restaurant is beautiful and the food was perfect. Our menus were even printed special to read, Happy Anniversary Ben and Nicole. Very nice touch. Additionally, the added touches for specials occasions are really kind of cool.
However, about 1/3 of the way through our dinner, our waiter disappeared. We literally never spoke to him again until he brought our check. The manager ended up clearing our plates and taking our desert orders. We never waited extremely long, I just thought it was odd to see our waiter check up on, and take orders from the tables right next to us, but not ours.

It did not disappoint! The service was AWESOME! So attentive. We even got personalized menus with "Happy 1st Anniversary" typed across the top. So special and made us feel important. We had reservations for 5:00 but were seated about 5:15. Our waiter was Edward. Edward was the best...almost worth the price of dinner just by himself!
We were celebrating our wedding anniversary so they had a message on the top of the menu. The chef sent (2) courses of amuse-bouche. My wife had the palm salad ($25) for the first course, stinging nettle pasta ($24) for the second course, and finished with the soft shell crab ($38). I started with the hamachi ($33), followed by the risotto ($25), and finished with the halibut ($42). We had a small slice of tiramisu for dessert. Total bill: $225. It helps to have reservations ahead of time but from what I noticed there was plenty of seating left if you just walk in. The decor says fine dinning but business casual is acceptable as well. The wait staff was polite and patient waiting for us to make out picks. We chose the four course menu option which turned out to be more like seven courses which I never complain about.. The food is spared out over a two hour time period and each plate is finely laid out and decorated just right. As for the taste of the food, each dish had its own complimenting flavors and textures and each dish seemed to want to melt in your mouth.6/7/2013 12:00:00 AMAn unexpectedly magical eveningWe live near the meatpacking district and dining can be a real hassle. I was able to get a last minute reservation at Colicchio & Sons. The setting is beautiful - spacious and relaxed. The service was unrivaled - very attentive. Not only was the food that we ordered fantastic, but there was unending stream of freebies: amuse bouches, palate cleansers, complimentary donuts in honor of National Donut Day, and they gave us some muffins to take home for breakfast the next day! The service is impeccable (friendly, efficient and knowledgable). The food is outstanding. The ambiance is warm and inviting.
We have done the tasting menus and the a la cart menus and have always been satisfied.

We call this a 'Family Meeting'. This was our first stop at Collichio & Sons and we have officially set a new bar. We all decided on the a la carte menu as opposed to the tasting menus. We were all eating off each others plates as it was all 'Oh my god... you need to try this!' The wine choice was a great suggestion. The service was the best we have had at any restaurant. The food was creative, well presented and left us wanting more after every course. The chef's tasting menu with wine pairings was well worth the money and certainly an experience to remember. This was a weekend getaway to NYC and this dinner made it so memorable! Well done. We will absolutely recommend your restuarant and be back for me on our next trip.
P.S. Our captain, Eric Wirz, was a true professional. Having chosen the four course meal, with the wine pairings, we found him to be extremely knowledgeable and helpful. The food and service was spectacular and the wine pairings were meticulous. Finishing details like a copy of the personalized menu, freshly baked muffins for the next day and a treat for our dog were pleasant surprises.

A short time later, I commented that I didn't care for the chilled pea soup presented during the amuse-bouche and my server raised a question about my displeasure, since peas were part of my entree's vegetable medley. I was touched. (As a side note, I enjoy peas, just not as a cold soup.) The octopus starter was delicious. The halibut melted in my mouth. And both of our cocktails & deserts were delightful. The rooms are beautiful and welcoming. The staff is friendly and highly professional. Seamless service in the classic manner with captains and a team of youthful exuberant wait staff. If you're lucky, you'll get Chase as your Captain but they are all great. The food is thoughtful, seasonal and exciting. Try the hearts of palm salad or hammachi followed by one of the great pasta offerings or main courses. I loved the pork with cheeks on the side. Those donuts on the desert menu are not your standard fare. Don't leave the restaurant without trying at least one. Upon our arrival the staff immediately showed us to our seats. I told C&S that it was my wife's birthday but had no idea what to expect. They allow one bottle per person, max of three for the table. An amazing deal that enables you to go big on their incredible food menu.
The foie gras was out of this world, the risotto was flavorful intriguingly textured, and the pork shoulder was easily the best I've ever had. The two amuse-bouches as well as takeway treat were a re-affirmation that you were at hands down one of the best high class restaurants in NYC.5/19/2013 12:00:00 AMThe service was spectacular.The service was spectacular. While the food wasnt "elite" there were a couple of dishes that were wonderful. I thought they could have done better with smaller amouse bouches with better quality, but it was very nice of them to bring out two free courses with 6 bites of food.
The bread was fresh baked in a cast iron pan and was refilled upon request. All of the dishes were good, but only 2 were "Excellent".

We had the 4 course menu. It was all delicious except for rubbery clams in my Bucatini with Clams. The manager apologized, offered another dish but I declined as my husband was finished. I had expected to have something comped.

Well they went beyond that by printing a special menu with the date and a congratulatory for our 2nd anniversary, it went a huge way for wifey and the reaction on her face was priceless. The service was great and attentive, they provided a lot of samplings for food and the main meal was excellent. There was no rush as we spent almost over 2 hours.
