Colibri - Mexican BistroI've had nearly every dishI've had nearly every dish on the menu and have never been disappointed. The food is great, the servers are friendly and welcoming. I'll be going back to try the duck very soon.5/15/2013 12:00:00 AMWent for the fish tacosWe were told about Colibri and their amazing fish tacos! These did not disappoint! So good and fresh! The rest of our food was authentic and very fresh! Service was great, but the restaurant was very loud! Would definitely go back though and recommend!5/9/2013 12:00:00 AMLunch at ColibriDined with a friend who had never been before. He enjoyed the guacomole tremendously, and his
salad. I liked the agua fresca (watermellon) and my salad...but posole remains my favorite.5/3/2013 12:00:00 AMCentral ValleyArrived early for a reservation and were still seated immediately. Service was promptly initiated with constant water glass filling, cocktail service and welfare checks. My wife and I both ordered the Ceveche appetizer and Mole Pablano entre. They were both very good. The chicken was a little tough, but overall, very satisfying. Desert and coffee really hit the spot and we walked out feeling the $96.00 was worth it. It's not just a good dining experience but conveniently located across from the Curran Theater.4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMFood was excellent. ServiceFood was excellent. Service excellent. Not to be missed.4/26/2013 12:00:00 AMgreat place to dine, expensiveA very nice place, a little noisy, the food is very good and the service very professional.
I found the price to be a little expensive.
There are a few competable establishments in the very close area that give a similar experience for a fair price.
Great food and service if you are willing to pay the price.4/21/2013 12:00:00 AMAs always, Colibri alwaysAs always, Colibri always shows us a great time for drinks, food and service. Homemade guacamole was sooo good and the fresh tortillas were an extra special touch. Loved the chicken mole and the churro dessert! Very nice bustle to the restaurant and extremely convenient to the Curran Theater-4/14/2013 12:00:00 AMThis was our second visitThis was our second visit to Colibri. Although we had gotten in for dinner as a walk-in last time, to skip the wait I made a reservation (even though we were going much earlier than last time as well). We were seated immediately and, as delicious as our first visit was, we tried all new foods and drinks. The watermelon agua fresca was amazing, as were our entrees and the mango creme brulee. It was almost agonizing to stray from the churros when we first ordered, but the mango creme brulee was a delightful lighter and sweet choice.4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMOne of my favorite dining spots! From when we were greeted by the hostess until we left that night, the service was impeccable, the food was delicious, and the drinks were amazing. This visit reminded me of why Colibri is one of my favorite dining spots!4/11/2013 12:00:00 AMVery flavorful food. PortionsVery flavorful food. We arrived about 10 minutes early they were crowded. Thank goodness we reserved a talbe and they seated us in a booth that I had requested.
The service was so fast that we were able to take our time and still walk around the neighborhood prior to the Jersey Boys show. I would recommend this restaurant to all . . .A very nice dinner.4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMGood food...very small portionsVery small portions will lead me to not return soon.4/4/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat location and deliciousGreat location and delicious food. Pleasantly surprised but this place, and we will be back!!3/30/2013 12:00:00 AMOnly problem: Sat next toOnly problem: Sat next to four 20-something women who loudly dropped F-bombs every fifth word or so. Of course, the waiter continued to refill their bottomless mimosas, which did not help!3/24/2013 12:00:00 AMChurro PerfectI couldn't have been happier with Colibri-- delicious Mexican food with excellent margarita's and sangria. The stuffed pepper was amazing, and the tortilla soup had a nice kick, which was delightful since usually tortilla soup can be boring. The guac was also perfect. Ultimately I came for the Churro's though, and I did not leave disappointed-- they are PERFECT. I'll be back!3/21/2013 12:00:00 AMMy friend and I always goMy friend and I always go for lunch or dinner before attending ACT across the street. Perfect combination. To be added to your roster of pre-theater eateries, right across the street from the Curran. Highly recommended.3/19/2013 12:00:00 AMWe have enjoyed Colibri forWe have enjoyed Colibri for years, but this was our first time for the Sunday brunch. We had chilaquiles and enchiladas, both were excellent. And there is just nothing better than a Colibri margarita!3/17/2013 12:00:00 AMColibri is a special place.Colibri is a special place. We have met dear friends and family there on several Sunday lunches, usually before attending ACT events right across the street.
The food is wonderful, authentic and truly gourmet. Handmade tortillas and custom guacamoles are made in real time for each table. Traditional dishes always have a special touch, even the desserts -- fresh, warm filled churros are delightful even when one is sated.
And the drinks menu is terrific -- a very large selection of tequilas and freshly made cocktails.
The service is kindly and personal -- tequila recommendations are fetched from the bar to let you see the label. Custom requests for diet or taste are nicely agreed-to.
Overall a jolly family celebration.3/17/2013 12:00:00 AMFun PlaceThe food here is always good. The staff is warm and responsive. We'll go back again. The old Mexican movies playing over the bar are really funny!3/16/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat margaritasAYummy Mexican with a little twist and great margaritas!!3/15/2013 12:00:00 AMOne of the best Mexican mealsOne of the best Mexican meals I have had outside of Mexico. Very few weak spots. The carnitas were the best I have ever had. Our friends had some shrimp they loved so much that they were reluctant to share.3/11/2013 12:00:00 AMReally really really loud!Really really really loud! But absolutely delicious with great servers.3/11/2013 12:00:00 AMLove it!!This is a Mexican-fusion restaurant. Amazing steak. Couldn't get over the filet mignon with roasted chipotle stuffed with goat cheese. Ambiance and decor is great. Loud restaurant, but great energy. Great late-night find - even mid-week. One of the unique restaurants in the Union Square area; highly recommend date nights here!2/27/2013 12:00:00 AMColibri...a real findDeep in the heart of theater district, across street from the two best, is Colibri. It would not turn your head unless you knew where to look. Once inside, staff is friendly and you are seated right away. Menus come and you are in for a treat. I enjoy the posole very much, and the drinks are delish too.
Service starts with water and warm, hand-made corn tortillas with sauces on the side. Perfect for our gluten-intolerant friends. Menu choices are thoughtful and food comes
right away. Very complex flavors, really a treat to eat.
Recommend highly for lunch and brunch. Have not dined there in evening.
A real winner!2/26/2013 12:00:00 AMfun Mexican with authenitc flavoursHearty central-Mexican cuisine in sauces worthy of plate-licking. The soft tortillas which replace the ubiquitous tortilla chips are wonderful and help with plate-cleaning.11/25/2012 12:00:00 AM
