Diner Reviews
  • "GREAT, super easy, fast service from Open Table ref 247727312! Outstanding. When we walked in the lovely young woman at the desk met us, knew who we were, and thanked us right then for the reservation! Great food and service at Collette. The presentation was terrific. The quality was worth the price."

  • "Brought back memories of by gone years. Lamb could have been better. French onion soup was the best. Scallops good. Halibut excellent."

  • "Food pleased everyone at my table. We arrived at 11:30 and would have liked the breakfast menu, but the salads were excellent. The service was not good. It was hard to catch her eye. She dropped a used knife in the lap of one and barely noticed. She wanted to finish up while one was still eating. The square plates are too large for the tables."

  • "During the pre-booking research that I did (reviews, dining polls, etc.), I noticed several comments regarding the fact that the Sofitel was now a Sheraton and how that might result in negative changes for the for the on-site restaurant. I'm happy to say that we didn't encounter anything negative all night, and based on our meal and the service we received, we'd happily return to Colette even if it were attached to a Menard's! Both server and kitchen were in top form - no Sunday night B-squad working here. Our server was gracious and very engaging. The dishes were beautifully presented and tasted even better. The best lamb I've had in years!! Reasonably priced wine list. Good desserts. Looking forward to a return visit, hopefully soon."

  • "After previous experience was disappointed with food, overpriced and ordinary."

  • "The food is always wonderful. We all ordered filets, great cut of beef, perfectly prepared."

  • "Love the White table cloths, murals, hotel coffee, dishes, seating...it makes you feel very special. Please be careful with the menu and preparation, the cutbacks are obvious. I'd rather pay a little more and have it taste better than Perkins...bring back the bread and butter...please keep thr French feel."

  • "Dinner service was very good and food was excellent."

  • "Excellent food and service! I had the lamb, and it was the best I had in years! The chop melted in my mouth. My wife had the scallops and the were cooked perfectly and served on a bed of truffle mashed potato that was to die for! The food was so good we ended up having desert (something we don't often do) and the crime brulia (sp) was perfection. Our waiter was friendly and very knowledgeable of the food and enhanced our experience. We will definite eat here the next time we are in town."

  • "Colette offers fabulous food and impeccable service. I was looking for a conveniently located, quiet restaurant so my hard of hearing father could participate in our conversation and Colette delivered. Both my brother and fiancé loved it, too. "

  • "Use to be a very nice romantic destination with great food. Now it's a hotel restaurant. No longer has great bed or rolls. Items we liked no longer on menu. Service a bit slower. Second time we've been disappointed. Most likely will not return."

  • "Excellent spot for business dinner that is quiet, confidential with attentive service."

  • "They seem to have cut back in that dining room. My food was not cold but cool. I know they are in a transition period."

  • "Good food. Nothing overwhelmingly exciting. They were very flexible with making something off the menu for my children."

  • "Glad to see the service level SO FAR was the same as before, but I still would prefer it to be what it was, namely the Hotel Sofitel. Sheraton won't live up to that name and ambience!"

  • "Everything was great, as I indicated above. Thank you,"

  • "We love French food and thought we'd look for something closer to home. With all the snow, a drive to the cities is tough. We had an amazing night out! Everything we ordered was amazing and the staff was so friendly!"

  • "Last time we were here it was part of Sofitel. Glad to see that Sheraton hasn't messed with success and kept Colette as enjoyable as before. We had the dish "A Taste of Paris" - 4 courses on one plate in separate dishes, including their famous French onion soup - delicious! My husband had the scallops and I had the beef -- very very good. We will be back."

  • "We enjoy Chez Colette especially for weekend lunch or brunch. We really like the pre fixe four item special which features a salad, soup, entre, and dessert. Ursela is always our waitress and she does a fantastic job. Always prompt, always effecient, always courteous."

  • "The place wasn't packed and I knew from the delivery of the ice water that this was going to be a poor experience. Staff was unprofessional and at times somewhat rude. When asking if we could change a side dish, the waiter was abrupt and rude with his response. We waited 1.5 hours (no joke) for the food to arrive and with almost no checking in or explanation from the waiter. We had to flag him down to get him to take notice of us. When my order arrived the fish was over cooked and inedible. I'm usually not one to complain about my food. My wife tried and agreed. For the price we paid we needed to say something. The manager did come out and apologize and offer us free desert, but by this time we just wanted to get our check and get home."

  • "I wanted to take my significant other somewhere nice this valentines day, and I like trying new places, and we've never been here before, so Colette it was! Upon arrival, it looked like it was going to be a good choice for a valentine's day dinner: low lights, candles at the table, a fireplace...overall some nice touches. We get seated right away (we had reservations) and the waitstaff immediately brought out the waters and bread, which I like. Our waiter was great--incredibly friendly and helpful with the menu. I watched him deal with an unhappy customer with professionalism and courteousness...This guy could teach a master class. Anyways, the food was very good, and the portions are exactly right. Would go again."

  • "Took over 1 hour after ordering before food arrived. Give them credit for offering free drinks of our choice while waiting."

  • "The food was good but the service was lacking. They were quick for the drink order. We had way too long to look at a menus before someone showed up to take an order. The soup came quickly but it was a whopping 50 minutes between the soup and anything else. Steak was served with a butter knife, as they were "out" of steak knives. Steak knife and risotto showed up 10 minutes later. Staff disappeared again even though our wine bottle went empty along with the water glasses. When someone finally stopped to ask if we wanted anything else we were long done with the meal. I have to say the bill was very prompt."

  • "Went to Chez Collette for Valentine's Day and ordered off the pre fixe menu that had been set for the occasion. $69 per person. For that we got four courses and a glass of champagne each. The first came garnished with a mandarin orange that clearly came from a can. The second course was inedible. The third, the entree, was cooked well but was plated onto a pre-prepared plate so the potatoes were cold. We still haven't been offered our glass of champagne when this course is over we asked for it with our dessert. Dessert was awful. Again prepared far in advance, the cake was stale and the fruit soggy. When spending what ended up to be over $200 for a meal I want to get a WHOLE LOT MORE out of an experience than this. Will not return."

  • "When one goes to a restaurant connected to a mid tier hotel, expectations are low for good food. The food was surprisingly good at this restaurant. Most notable was the asparagus with Bearnaise sauce, halibut, filet mignon, and french onion soup. Presentation on the plate was also exceptional. The accompaniments for the entree---fingerling potatoes and risotto not so much. Overall, the important food was very well done. We did not try the desserts so can't comment on the desserts. Wine list was very limited for french wines. Have to say that the service was outstanding given that it was Valentine's Day. Prices were reasonable for french food. We will definitely return!"

  • "The food was excellent! We had the mussels as an app and had to wait for 30 minutes and then when we finally got it our meals were out a minute or 2 later. Our waitress was rude and unattentive"

  • "Colette's menu offers a nice variety of entrees, salads and sides. Presentation is quite good, and the portions are large. I could not finish either my salad or my entrée. My wife's scallops were delicious. My selection was the "Risotto-Like Paella." It was very good but it was Risotto-not-at-all like paella." Why not call it risotto and leave it at that? All in all, a worthwhile dining experience. we will return."

  • "We had a lovely time...stayed a long time, but don't think we were taking a table from the server since there were still empty tables around us."
    Dined on 2/10/2014
  • "The restaurant has not changed a BIT since it became a Sheraton--spread the word! Still a fantastic place to dine."

  • "Colette was the perfect place for a special birthday celebration. We have been coming to this restaurant for years for many celebrations and the food and service was once again excellent, elegant, and delightful."

  • "Everything has changed at this once great restaurant. From the French bread that was alway served warm and now served cold, the Ceaser Salads that were out of this world, now just romaine lettuce , a lonely anchovie and a lack of dressing and the entrees that were a feast for the eyes and palate, now reduced to a lack of choices and served with the flavor more akin to a Chilis than the five star restaurant this used to be. The only thing that has remained the same are the five star prices. Not worth your time or money."

  • "The food was great and the service was wonderful. I did go when the weather was bad so there were few people in the restaurant. I tried the Taste of Paris which to me was a good deal and the portions were just right."

  • "We had a group of 9 that dined here at 10:30AM in the morning. I was never able to pull up a breakfast menu on any website before we arrived, so we had no idea what was in the menu. I could not get a reservation for more than 6 people on Open Table. In addition, we could not get the time we wanted (10:30 AM)....we only had the choice of 10:15 or 10:45 AM. So I had to call the restaurant to add three more people and change the time. It was amazing that we initially could not book what we wanted because there was hardly anyone there in the restaurant in the morning on a cold Minnesota Day. My advice to people with larger groups, just ignore what Open Table is telling you and call the restaurant directly. Service & food.....fantastic!"

  • "Made reservations for Sunday mid-morning, figuring there would be a brunch. There was not. Ordered off the menu and the Eggs Benedict was very good - but not as luscious as appeared on TV Saturday morning new spot. The wait staff was less than attentive. Coffee service was slow."
