In the midst of a din of a full restaurant, we managed to tolerate the dismal service to get to the excellent food. I had Filet Oscar (excellent) and that made the cacophony worth tolerating. Dinner for 4 was $242, with a total of 5-6 drinks (total for the whole table for the evening. You must get a res on about tuesday and no later to get a reasonable dining hour on Friday and Saturday.

A group of four of us ventured to Coles 735 Main for a birthday dinner, and the food did not disappoint. I was a little concerned at how close the tables were at first, but it didn't seem overly loud during the meal. Waitress was excellent and food was delicious! Highly Recommend.

This was our first visit to Coles 735 Main. We were greeted warmly and immediately shown to our table. The restaurant is charming - set in an old house and decorated with a feeling of home. Our waitress was knowledgeable and made informed suggestions which we accepted without disappointment. Panko crusted avocado with crab salad an Brie in phyllo were delicious. Our party of four each chose different entres. Each one was delicious. My grouper was light, but full of a variety of flavors. The potatoes under the chicken was a complimentary flavor to the meat. The sweetness of the coating on the duck was welcomed by my daughter. Finally the sirloin my husband had was cooked perfectly; really it was too much meat! No complaints.

    Overview
    Dined on 8/21/2014
The menu choices are broad, and require much thought in order to decide that which to eat. The food is top notch. The wine choices are adequate and offer decent value. The service is well-trained and professional. Because of the size of the restaurant and popularity, it is often crowded, and if you sit next to a festive table, their noise will spill over into your table.

Fresh, locally-sourced ingredients presented in delicious and unique ways. The heirloom tomato salad special was fantastic with the unexpected but memorable toasted Macadamias. The shrimp and grits were savory but I really prefer the creamy grits over polenta cakes. Blueberry streusel cheesecake was incredible. Service was lovely and attentive as usual!

We elected to try Cole's for my birthday. While I was satisfied with my trout entgree, my husband was less than pleased with his TWO tries of entrees. The pastrami short ribs did not live up to its description, while the beef shoulder was OK, but not at the price. We will probably not come back. Disappointed.

Without question, Cole's is one of my favorite restaurants in and out of Lexington. On this occasion, my husband's colleague was staying with us as he began his preparations to move here from Greece. When we were in Greece, he had introduced us to the wonders of Greek cuisine, and we wanted to offer him the best of the Bluegrass. Once again, our experience was extraordinary on all levels. AND the Lexingtonian cocktail is delicious.

This place is awesome. The service is great, they go out of their way to make your meal exactly like you want it, making substitutions and what not. It is a bit on the expensive side, but worth it. The NY strip is the best steak I've ever had (though I havent eaten more than a dozen places).

I live literally across the street and had been in the building for many, many, many other restaurants during the year but the Restaurant week promotion got my daughter, grandson and myself in the door. A great choice. We will be back often. I wound up skipping the restaurant week specials for the Baked Brie app and the roast duck. Each was incredible. My grandson got the salmon and mixed greens and loved them. My daughter got the steak entire and a fascinating tomato based salad and loved it. We will definitely be back. Server was a veteran who had worked with my daughter 20 years ago at another restaurant. Small world. Great choice. Don McNay, www.mcnayconsulting.com

We've been trying multiple new (to us) restaurants during Lexington's Restaurant Week, and so far Coles is definitely #1. While we tried different appetizers and desserts, all four of us wanted the beef shoulder as our entree (I didn't even know there was such a cut of meat). It was prepared exactly how each of us ordered it with an absolutely wonderful mix of flavors from the huge bed of sauteed mushrooms and truffle sauce complementing the rich, tender beef slices cooked to perfection. Not a morsel left on any of our plates! The restaurant was packed, even on a Monday night, so be sure to make reservations (Open Table).

We were visiting Lexington during Restaurant Week and decided to try Coles 735 Main for the first time. We had a wonderful meal, I had the chicken dish and my sister had the beef. Both were wonderfully prepared and we both had a very tasty salad for our first course. The Creme Brulee was a perfect dessert. Our waiter, Jerod, was very efficient with careful attention to detail, but not hovering, which is exactly the way I like my service. We will certainly return to Cole's whenever we are in Lexington

We very much enjoyed our dinner and evening at Cole's. We had waited to try it but waited until restaurant week because we had heard it was very expensive. This way we could afford both the well-reviewed avocado appetizer as well as an entree. Everything was delicious, the service was fabulous, and we liked the atmosphere.

I actually made the reservation on behalf of an employee. She had asked me for a recommendation of a place for she and her husband to celebrate their anniversary. When I made the reservation, I requested a window seat, explaining that the dinner was an anniversary celebration. The next morning, she came in and raved about the food, service and atmosphere. What was especially impressive was the she and her husband were presented with a bottle of champagne and a dessert, on the house. They had not mentioned the anniversary, it had been picked up from the reservation notation. Thank you so much for making their night so special.

The filet is beyond compare and the desserts if we have room are as good as it gets. Hands down the best place to eat in Kentucky.

First time visit but I will return. The ambiance was great and the service was very good although a bit slow (I think) because they were so busy. I like my steak grilled "Pittsburgh style", medium rare. The New York strip steak ordered was grilled perfectly and was delicious; perhaps the best I have enjoyed in Lexington. The wedge salad with Gorgonzola, blue cheese and bacon was served sliced and was the perfect companion to a great steak. Highly recommend.

Very interesting starters and entrees; dishes were tasty and well presented. My duck breast was cooked to perfection and the panko fried avocado was as original as enjoyable. They could improve their choice for desserts: cookies, ice cream or cheesecake are not very exciting for this type of restaurant, while I would definitely keep the delicious bourbon ball flourless chocolate cake.
