Coles 735 MainPride in presentation. . . . . eager to match content. Our experience was very good and enjoyable, no delay in food service and our waiter was well informed of availability and preparations of menu items. Restaurant was well visited saturday night. To be recommended.6/15/2013 12:00:00 AMBirthdayWonderful place to celebrate birthdays with family. As always, the food was great!6/15/2013 12:00:00 AMWe had salmon and the lambWe had salmon and the lamb stew. The salmon was primo... maple bourbon crusting was very good. The lamb stew was pedestrian. We will be back but will order more carefully.6/7/2013 12:00:00 AMTop-notch diningWe were in Lexington for a couple of nights and I was glad I book a reservation a couple of weeks prior. Coles was hoppin'! Great cozy atmosphere, excellent food and service. Next time we get back to Lexington, Coles is a must for my husband and me. Try it...you won't be sorry!6/7/2013 12:00:00 AMPricey but worth itGreat food. Interesting menu. A little expensive but worth it. Great special occasion location5/24/2013 12:00:00 AMThe food was absolutely fantastic. The food was absolutely fantastic. I had the snapper special, and it and the vegetables in mild curry sauce were out of this world. My husband loves the beef filet. We have learned to go early before the crowd makes the place rather noisy. Service was excellent. Highly recommended.5/24/2013 12:00:00 AMBetter than I was expectingI have been wanting to try this spot for a while now, but my husband had gone for a business dinner and proclaimed that he wasn't impressed, so it was pushed to the back burner when we chose spots. I finally got him to agree to go and I was pleasantly surprised. The food was great, although the portions could maybe be a little bigger for the money. Also, the prices for wine were much higher than other spots in town. One particular bottle I use as a standard was $40 higher than what it normally costs. I would recommend this spot if you're looking to splurge for a nice night out.5/22/2013 12:00:00 AMAmbiance was a bit "homespun"Ambiance was a bit "homespun" but acceptable. Server was very friendly and knew the food menu well, but needed more training/experience with the alcohol list (or the bartender/drink manager should come to the table to answer questions instead of having them relayed back and forth by the server). Bourbon list excellent, but very oddly does not show prices! Food was a bit on the rich side of the spectrum, but well prepared and delicious. Overall I would recommend it.5/21/2013 12:00:00 AM2 for 2!My wife and I dined at Cole's alone on our first visit but brought friends for our second. Our server was very attentive and the food was tremendous! We especially enjoyed the pork chop special, the filet and mussels. Thank you!5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMAwesome dinnerWill probably join you for most special occasions.5/17/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent ExperienceHad an excellent experience with great food and service. Highly recommend.5/17/2013 12:00:00 AMA must go!Cole's is a very comfortable and inviting place with amazing food. With a menu that offers something for everyone and daily specials that do not fall short of the rest of the entrees, this place is a must go. It's not exactly cheap but I feel it is well worth the money and will be my regular special occasion dine.5/16/2013 12:00:00 AMLooking forward to another mealThis was my second visit. Both were wonderful experiences due to the extraordinary service and food quality. Nice place to go for a special evening as a couple as well as with coworkers and a group of friends. Tuna was perfectly prepared and my husband pork chop was the best he ever had.5/16/2013 12:00:00 AMLovely eveningWe had a lovely table for two for our anniversary. The server did a wonderful job of recommending and the service was attentive. The Panko Fried Avocado and Smoked Salmon BLT were delicious. We will definitely be back!5/6/2013 12:00:00 AMWonderful spot to celebrateWonderful spot to celebrate our UK graduate. Diverse menu choices. Great atmosphere.5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat dining experienceHad a great dining experience at Coles 735 for our 5th wedding anniversary & would highly recommend them.5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMWOW! What a great place.Coles 735 Main was recommended by a friend to celebrate our 15th wedding anniversary. It was wonderful, the food was excellent and the service was first class. I am reluctant to write this review as my wife and I would like to Coles to ourselves but which such outstanding food, service and management I just had to let everyone know what a great place. I will be back!5/3/2013 12:00:00 AMBest in Lex!Hands down the best restaurant in Lexington. Reservations are strongly suggested (especially Friday and Saturday).5/3/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat serviceTerrific service. We could not get a cab back to hotel because they were all in Louisville for the derby. Our waiter took it on to solve our problem and actually called his girlfriend who took us to our hotel. Wow! Try the fried avocado with crab meat appetizer. First time I've seen it and it was great. Mark5/3/2013 12:00:00 AMYou must try Cole's.If you like great food, friendly staff, and a large selection of wines and bourbon, then Coles is your place. If you're looking for a fine dining experience look no further, Cole's is Lexington's finest.4/30/2013 12:00:00 AMThe spicy mussels and filetThe spicy mussels and filet were top notch--we will definitely return soon!4/29/2013 12:00:00 AMOutstandingOutstanding…My wife and I went to Coles 735 Main on April 20, 2013 to celebrate our 27th wedding anniversary. We started with the Apple Cider Pork Belly appetizer and it was outstanding, servers 2 nicely. I then had the Grilled Caesar salad and my wife had the Crispy Pancetta Salad, both were very fresh and favorable. As for the entrees, my wife order the Black Angus Falls NY Strip, this was a perfect piece of beef!! Cooked to perfection and served with potato cakes and fresh asparagus. I had one of the specials for that evening, a heavenly bone in pork chop, cooked to perfection and served with braised kale. I do not know how but I managed to have a piece of their house made carrot cake and a perfect cup of black coffee!! We will be back.4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMHad a very nice meal. TheHad a very nice meal. The service was really good as was the food.4/19/2013 12:00:00 AMWe have been to Coles oneWe have been to Coles one other time. We really liked this restaurant, so we decided to go back for our anniversary. The mussels were incredible on both visits. I could make a meal just out of the sauce and some bread.
I had the pork shank which was very good, but not quite as good as the duck breast from the last visit. My wife was not in love with the stuffed trout but loved the risotto. They took the trout off of our bill even though we insisted that it wasn't necessary. We finished with the chocolate bourbon ball torte and key lime pie which were both outstanding.
The service was great and made up for the fact that my wife didn't care for the trout. This is a great restaurant with excellent service. A little pricey, but worth it4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMWONDERFUL...WONDERFULNever disappoints and we always seem to leave with a new favorite thing.4/11/2013 12:00:00 AMBest fine dining in LexingtonGreat food, great service, great wine list, extensive fine bourbon list. Flawless execution.4/9/2013 12:00:00 AMWere in town for the springWere in town for the spring Keeneland meet and showed up an hour early because we were too tired to go back to the hotel and back again. They were very accommodating and the food and service were exceptional! Highly recommend!4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat! Want to go back!Wish I would have found Coles on my first night in Lexington, rather than my last. Food was delicious, service was pleasant & attentive, tables were nicely spaced. Try the panko avocado - yum! The shrimp & grits were delicious, an elegant version, and the mushroom encrusted beef shoulder melted in your mouth. Want to go back to Lexington to eat at Coles again.4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMThis spot has had many incarnationsThis spot has had many incarnations, and they've finally gotten it right! This was our second visit, and it definitely lived up to our expectations after the first. The salmon, the scallops, the big eye tuna are all excellent. And we loved the special av9cado salad. The service was very good, attentive and prompt without being intrusive or making us feel rushed. The waiter was very familiar with the menu and his recommendations were accurate. We will definitelyt return.4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMEnjoyable dining experienceEnjoyable dining experience with friendly and competent staff. Food was tasty and we plan to eat there again!4/5/2013 12:00:00 AMAS GOOD AS IT GETS!!!Appetizers...specials of the evening...salads...entrees...desserts...we continue to be impressed and sated.4/2/2013 12:00:00 AMBustlingWe have been here at least three other times since this restaurant opened about a year ago, but this was our first visit in a few months. On this particular Saturday night, the restaurant was full and lively. This has clearly become a very popular spot. Service was quite good. Our waiter was knowledgeable and friendly, and all staff seemed to work quite well together. The only sour note was at checkin, where one seemingly distracted young greeter walked right in front of us, practically stepping into us, as the other gestured for us to follow her to a table. No hello, welcome, apology or anything from the first young woman. Food was very good; prices seem to be a bit higher than before.3/30/2013 12:00:00 AMOur first time at Cole's providedOur first time at Cole's provided us with an excellent variety of choices on the menu to include some vegetarian choices and quite an extensive list of wines to choose from. Upon arrival, the exterior of the restaurant was not as we would have pictured it and might mask the great ambiance we encountered inside. Therefore, we will call this a neighborhood gem that might be overlooked if one didn't know about it. Our server, Audrey, was very attentive to our every need and was knowledgeable about both food and wine selections. The restaurant was very busy on a Saturday night, yet we received great service. The breaded, stuffed and baked avocado appetizer is highly recommended.3/30/2013 12:00:00 AMYum!This was a first time visit to Cole's for my grandson and his girlfriend and I know it won't be the last. We shared the Duck Tacos, Panko Fried Avocado and the Wild Mushroom Bruschetta. For our entrees we ordered the Seafood Medley, the Amish Chicken and the Wild Mushroom Encrusted Beef Shoulder. Enjoyed by all. We finished up with Black Raspberry Chip Ice Cream and hot Chocolate Chip Cookies (which made my grandson swoon as the chocolate melted from the center). Sure looking forward to another great meal very soon.3/25/2013 12:00:00 AMAlways love going to Cole'sAlways love going to Cole's for a nice dinner! Food and service are always very good!3/23/2013 12:00:00 AMTHE GO TO PLACE!!COLES 735 MAIN continues to be our go to place. The food is savory and comforting..love the filet, the shrimp & grits....have mever been disappointed...just recently tried the grit fries and they are addictive.3/23/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat find on a first time tripI found this restaurant using Open Table since I had no experience or leads on my recent visit to Lexington. All the stars and praises by others are well deserved here. I was given very good care by Melissa/ Melanie (?) from the moment I sat down. She made some great suggestions starting with the fried avocado's. I have certainly never had those before and I must say that besides being a work of art on the plate they were delicious. The house salad had a nice mix of greens and candied pecans which made a great setup for the main course, the bone-in filet with demiglace. This special was a very tender and flavorful cut of beef that really hit the spot. The bourbon-ball chocolate flourless cake made a perfect ending to a great meal.3/21/2013 12:00:00 AMAlways a WinnerAnother visit to Cole's and it was great as usual. We are growing fond of the waitstaff who even remember our names. This time, our family of three dined on the vegetable stew, NY Strip, and salmon. All dishes were excellent as was the butternut squash soup. We especially like their house salad and usually split this as it is quite large. The waiters will bring the salad out already divided onto two plates which is much appreciated. Cole's is not a cheap place to eat but it is consistently good and actually is priced a bit lower than some of Lexington's other high end spots. We ended up taking home some leftovers.3/18/2013 12:00:00 AMDelicious food, good service,Delicious food, good service, convenient location.3/15/2013 12:00:00 AMEnjoyed my experience. MyEnjoyed my experience. My salmon was very good. The presentation was excellent. I do believe the bread could have been better, and the bread basket was whisked away with a roll in it when the entree was served.3/14/2013 12:00:00 AM3rd time, another charmed experiencThis was my third visit to Cole's. Three out of three consistency is great. This time, four of us had a delightful dinner. Each had a different entree and all reported a great meal. My wife, a true foodie and former restaurateur, raves about the braised short ribs. We were seated in the middle of the dining room and I was concerned about that at first; however, the ambiance was very good. Not too quiet and not too noisy. We were greeted at the door by Cole and the hostess and quickly made to feel welcome. Our server, Billy, was exceptional--very helpful and accommodating. We will be back for sure. Cole's could well be the best restaurant in Lexington.3/14/2013 12:00:00 AMTook my wife for her birthday.Took my wife for her birthday. the food was fabulous from the appetizers to the desserts. Only complaint - if considered to be so - is that I felt the menu was a little red-meat heavy - altho I had the Big Eye Tuna which was great. Will definitely return and recommend to others!3/11/2013 12:00:00 AM
