We dined with friends before a concert at the Opera House. We had reservations and were seated on time, water glasses filled and drink orders taken. We tried three of the daily specials - entree, appetizer and soup - all were perfect and left us wanting more. Three of us ordered salads and all looked and tasted great. Coles is a good spot for dinner or drinks and a light meal.

My first trip to Coles (had dined in this the location previously). Tastefully redecorated open-room ambience - warm and welcoming - Care given to keep the volume of joyful patrons under control (very loud before!). Waiter was knowledgeable and attentive - allowing the right amount of time to enjoy our meal and conversation. Everything was prepared and presented with class: Crispy and creamy Baked Brie appetizer - incredible Farro Currant salad - Sauteed Chicken Breast and two vegetarian items - hard to find tasty vegetarian items in a meat loving world!) The price of our meal may prevent me from coming back too soon - but for an intimate date, a couples evening, family gathering, or to entertain guests and clients - I'd chose Coles again.

We will certainly return to Cole's. The menu is very interesting, so hard to choose. Luckily we had a waiter who could help with that. I had the brussel sprout salad to start and the tuna for a main. Both were lovely, but the pairing of the pasta with the tuna was not my favorite---would have prefered a more lemony sauce, perhaps. My husband had the fried avocado with crab to start (excellent) and the asian ribs with macaroni and cheese. The latter had an asian chili paste ingredient which added depth, but only a moderate heat to the dish. Inventive! Finally a maple and bourbon creme brulee finished the evening.

This great place hosts specials, not found on the menu. You'll find food for everyone, steaks, chicken, seafood, and the like. We were there on a Monday evening, and the place was packed. I'd recommend a reservation. They do have a patio, but it was not in use the evening we were there. The food was excellent, as well as the service. We will return.

Quality & Creativity most unexpected for Lexington. The DR was charming. The service was flawless. The menu was alluring. And my dinner exceeded my expectations for presentation, taste, and freshness. The combinations of ingredients were unusual and really made the dining experience special. We're not sure why we hadn't found 735 Main before, given that we've visited Lexington quite frequently in recent years due to UK, EKU, and family connections. However, we were pleasantly surprised by this outstanding dining venue. Both of our entrees, my Bouilabaisse and my wife's fresh trout, were excellent. And the key lime pie was the best we've had outside of Naples, FL!

We dined at Cole's with friends celebrating special occasions. Jordon, our server, was very attentive, knowledgeable and personable. All in our party raved about the entrees, though the trout was slightly over-cooked. The chef uses creativity and skill to create each item on the menu. My husband is fussy about his martini; he praised the bar service. The key lime pie was the best I've ever eaten in a restaurant -- light, yet with full lime flavor. We highly recommend.

We frequent Coles and love the restaurant. We had horrible service on a Wed night. Our waiter is always very good, but he had too many tables. Bottle of wine timely, but wanted glass of Proseco during appetizers….did not arrive until after we finished appetizers. Not up to par! Will stick to Andy at the bar and not invite guests for awhile.

The food was wonderful their avacado appetizer is crispy on the outsite, creamy on the inside, over all yummy. I had shrimp and grits which was beautiful in it's presentation and very delicious. My husband had the bone in filet which was a special, I tried it as well and it was melt in your mouth perfect. We had a party of 7 and everyone was happy with their meal. No disappointments here.

We were up from Knoxville for the races and reserved this based on other reviews. My wife had the bone in filet and thought it was probably the best steak she had ever eaten. I had a generous portion of duck breast atop Okinawan sweet potatoes which was delectable. Nice wine list. Great service and attentive and involved management. We loved it and will be back for more Than! By the way, I had asked for a romantic table for two on Open Table and that's exactly what we got. Thanks for a great experience.

What a great find, the food was out of this world. We decided to try the neef shoulder and Ny strip, both were cooked to perfection! The Panko fried alvacado appatiezer is a must try and we had the pineapple upside down cake for dessert that was a special that night. In a town with few "great" dining experiences, Coles is right at the top.

The food was good and our waiter was very friendly and knowledgeable. The only thing we thought was a bit off was the teeny tiny dessert . When it came to the table we all had a good laugh since we were planning on sharing it. Literally each person (4 of us) got a tiny bite. It was a small sliver of a piece of the flourless chocolate torte. I think they ran out and had to divide our piece with another table!

Food was well prepared and the inventive menu included something for everyone. The service was competent but spotty because a party of twenty or more placed their order at or about the same time as our party of four. Although the space is pleasant, the tables are much too close together. I was continuously bumped by patrons and servers alike. Finally, while I enjoy an energetic noise level, it was simply too loud druing my visit. Our group simply couldn't carry on a conversation once the restaurant was populated.

My husband and I celebrated our birthdays at Coles and had a wonderful experience. We started with the baked brie which was incredibly tasty. I had the seafood medley which was extremely fresh, given our land-locked location in Lexington! It was served over homemade lemon-pepper pasta, which was very tasty. My husband enjoyed the chicken dish he ordered, as well. We really enjoyed the ambiance...it almost seemed like we were back in Provence! Overall, we had a great experience and will definitely return for a future special occasion dinner!

Our waiter was really good. He caught a mistake the kitchen had made and corrected it before serving it to us. The food arrived in good time, and - as always - was really really good. This is an excellent restaurant. Food great, interesting, and service is about perfect from my perspective - and I am part owner of a competing restaurant. I have had wine there. It is always a good wine. I am not a wine connousier (in fact I can't even spell it!), but their house wines are always good. Owner came around and checked to see how it was going, as well.

Having heard mixed reviews, but being impressed by the menu; it was my choice for my birthday dinner. Everything was really very good with two exceptions. The noise level was a little loud I think due to the closeness of the tables. Also, some of the portion sizes were a little on the small size especially for a man. That said, I most definitely go back.
